Mackenna from East High. My digital resource organization could be described as... moving boxes. Some are well labeled and carefully packed, but the last few boxes are very haphazard, and they are all going to different “rooms” instead of one clear place. #akedchat
#akedchat That's a wonderful way to describe it! Kind of like my pictures - all organized through 2009, but after that, it's haphazard organization. Same with my digital resources!
A1: My digital files are in Google Apps or in folders on my laptop - mainly my laptop unless I'm sharing them with students or colleagues. My bookmarks are a hot mess disaster of old links, but I try to put them in folders by topic #akedchat
A1 Google Drive. I am pretty satisfied with everything about it. I keep files with links in it and can organize them the same was as regular files. #akedchat
#akedchat bookmarks on laptop but it’s not sufficient as it just gets lost in the line up .Apps On my class iPad divided into folders. Otherwise it’s hard to track other online resources - I have 4-5-6 sites for Rdg I want to use to help my lower learners; cannot keep track
I don't have to rearrange the topics often because they are content units (cell division, evolution, etc.). I have had to subdivide / tweak, but it works pretty well! #akedchat
#akedchat
I remember being so happy to be able to add bookmarks in the bar where I could always see them, but have so much more that I want to fit in the bar! I like the browsers that let you put favorites on your homepage!
Will the links still work if you rename the original file, or do you have trouble with broken links? I like the idea of having a place / topic with lots of links! #akedchat
I sometimes organize with spreadsheets and sometimes with bullet point lists, but always use text description hyperlinked rather than just copying and pasting a URL. Changing the original file doesn't affect it at all. #akedchat
Q1 best organization is when I link digital resources into a lesson plan either in Google Docs or Canvas. Where I struggle is where to store something I do not use right away so I can find it again #akedchat
ME TOO! I have a boatload of emails to myself in my inbox with great stuff I found, but I'm terrified if I file it I'll never find it again. Sigh. #akedchat

A1: most of my digital resources are organized and stored on my class website for easy access for myself and my students. Not a perfect system. #akedchat
Yeah, I thought retirement would help but it didn't help me much! But maybe I need to really retire! Of course, then I might not need so many bookmarks!
#akedchat
Q2 & Q3 Pinterest was exciting for maybe.... 2 weeks? I saw some cool ideas when I tried it 10 years ago but then just kept seeing the same things over and over, none of them helpful for teaching secondary instrumental music. #akedchat
A.2 - Sorry I seem to be behind. I liked tip #11 and #18. Hadn't thought to organize my videos using pinterest or curating videos / resources for students to explore. #akedchat
A2: Not to be a hater, but this means nothing to me since I've never used Pinterest. I know lots of folks love it, but I'm super reluctant to dive into yet another rabbit hole of resources when I'm already swamped! #akedchat
Encourage: lots of inspiration, helps me find great blogs, always a great way to research/jump off when starting a new unit. Discourage: having to use the web filter override to access, the sometimes random and distracting pins about skinny tea and nail polish. #akedchat
Yep I have a list of things in Notes too! That’s where I put stuff when I am browsing Twitter so I don’t get sucked too far down a rabbit hole. I’ll look into Diigo #akedchat
A4: Being able to add links to lists on the fly, or to mark key sections of websites for later use sounds amazing to me! I also like the sharing feature. It'd be great to be able to share a list with students doing research, for example #akedchat
A4 You have 1163 items on that list? That's crazy! I think I get the tags feature, but that still seems a bit overwhelming to see it all as one list. #akedchat
I'm behind, too! I took my puppy out just as we started, but he decided he needed to go out again a few minutes ago! Thank goodness I scheduled the tweets for tonight's chat : )
#akedchat
Looks like a clean & powerful tool that could simply some aspects. Discourage: yet another new tool to learn how to use and then forget about over break! #akedchat
Totally understand that! I use Pinterest mostly to collect my own resources. If I am sucked in by someone else's Pinterest boards or ideas, I allow myself to save one pin and then I quickly close the tab! I don't have time for exploring extensively, either.
#akedchat
#akedchat If feels like that long, but I just counted. It's been 6ish years. Still, 2012 seems like a long way away. Especially if I still make jokes about "fuzzy math."
I have the same rule for Twitter as I have for Pinterest - I let myself go down one rabbit hole until I find something I'll use, and then I quickly close the tab! So much good stuff!
#akedchat
A5 I can't imagine sharing enough links with students to need a little website just for my links. I link from our website, LMS, and put QR codes on our bulletin board. If I need more than that, I'm probably leading my students down a rabbit hole. #akedchat
I don't know if I did right or not, but I have one @Pinterest account for both personal and professional. I just made sure to name my boards clearly.

If we have an organization system that works for us, we don't need another one. But it can be useful to spend an hour exploring to see what else is out there!
#akedchat
A6 I like how I can use the Pinterest Chrome app and pin and organize from the web to pinterest and then I can link on any device. I like being ablt to sort into boards easily too. #akedchat
A6 The tool needs to be not tool dependent. If I share with someone who doesn't use the tool, they need to be able to see and access and use the resource I'm sharing. #akedchat
It seems to me that secondary teachers find it more useful to use with students but I think it could still be a great way to organize your lessons if you teach K-6 #akedchat

Poor. I like the concept with the multiple panels on multiple tabs and the search bar in the middle... but I don't need ads in the background. If they kept them contained, that would be fine, but it's kind of a turn-off. #akedchat
