Jolie, elementary librarian from Liberty Hill! Super stoked to talk reading lists because I’ll be joining the @TBABooks Bluebonnet program committee this year! #txlchat
Hello...I’m Misty. I’m currently an elementary librarian but was a high school librarian for 11 years, so I am very familiar with the Maverick and Tayshas lists and I am becoming more familiar with the Bluebonnet and 2x2 lists now. #txlchat
It has been an incredibly busy fall/winter and I am BACK for my first #txlchat in 2 months thanks to @StarrReadnRun's reminder email! #weallneedreminders so...HELLO every1, April Rivas from DFW area, HS librarian signing in!
#txlchat Nicole Cruz, SHS and SA3 High School Librarian from Sharyland ISD. Happy to support all reading lists but actually served once upon a time as Chair of the Tejas Star List
A1 I use the TLA Reading Lists as a guide to order new books for my students to increase diversity in my collection. Even though I ma in a middle school, I like to look at the TAYSHAS and #mavericklist and order what fits my students. Lone Star List is HUGE at my campus. #txlchat
Hello friends! I am a middle school librarian in Katy, TX. I use the Lone Star list and am on the MS SPOT (Spotlight on Texas) list committee. #txlchat
2x2 was my favorite as an elementary librarian! I used to do grade level contests with 1st and 2nd grade, and the kids and Ts absolutely loved it! #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
A1: Speed dating & voting with Bluebonnet books, Lone Star books for Battle of the Books recommendations, book tastings, book talking, and with my book club #txlchat
I booktalk all of the books to all the ms kids and incoming 5th graders at the end of the school year. I have a reading incentive at my school for every 5 LoneStar they read. End of year we go on a field trip to Bookpeople to celebrate #txlchat
A1 I use the reading lists as a starting point for my readers who don't know what they want. Lone Star List goal has always been to have at least one book for every reader. #txlchat
Hey y'all! Priscilla Delgado, PhD student at St. John's University and TeachingBooks staff. I love all the lists, but the ones I utilize the most are @TBABooks as well as @TejasStarTxLA, for which I'm currently the chair. Looking forward to learning with y'all tonight! #txlchat
A1: I use the Bluebonnet reading lists for read-alouds and as a reading incentive. I reference past lists when making book recommendations and book tastings #txlchat
A1:I am an elementary librarian and this is my first year with 6th grade. Since I do a lot of mock ALA programs I didn’t know what to do with 6th so decided to have them read Bluebonnet books. They are reading a lot and loving it. We will do our own voting soon! #txlchat
A1 I also use the nomination list as selection tool. I review the titles as recommendations from experienced, well-read librarians who work with readers the same age as mine. #txlchat
I also have a team that participates in the Central Texas Battle of the Books - the book list is all of the LoneStar books https://t.co/NQhWTfPfte#txlchat
A1: I use the lists mainly when putting together book orders! As a former #SPOTHS committee member, however, I began using the programming (mainly passive) at my high school library! #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
Use all lists to build collections in HS see the best of essay, short chapter, nonfiction, etc Love how @TXLA leads the way naming so many titles 1st #txlchat

I host a #booktasting with the @TBABooks with 3rd grdrs each year, plus a luncheon for 3rd, 4th, 5th grdrs that read 5+ books from the ilst. With the @Texas2x2 I use this list to purchase picture books and do activities with the younger grades. #txlchat
A1) In my HS library we label all the #TayshasList#MaverickList and Topaz books. I have @FollettLearning Tayshas and #LoneStarList posters on my circ desk. They’re laminated and I put notes on them after reading. It’s great for engaging students who stop & look. #txlchat
I use the @TBABooks program with my 6th graders, I’ve created a program for 7th/8th for the Lone Star list, we use all the lists to choose books for our Battle of the Books, and I use all to order new books #txlchat
A1 I use the @TBABooks list and the @CRTXLA 2x2 list for collection development. I plan on using the Tejas and Little Mars list this year too. Castleberry ISD is doing a district wide celebration for readers who read 10 or more Bluebonnets (We also do voting for 5+books) #txlchat
I use all the lists! 2x2 with my own kids, TBA, Lonestar, Maverick & Little Maverick for collection development at my library, Tayshas with more mature students, my teachers, and for my own personal reading. #txlchat

I'd love to have your help prior to conf curating resources to share, DM me for details, and I hope to see you in San Antonio!
Oh definitely! I purchase everything I don’t already have from the #TayshasList and most from the #MaverickList. Also a few Lone Star titles with crossover appeal, and MG/YA/adult for YA/adult Topaz titles. #txlchat
A2 I share by posting on website, making book marks, emailing teachers, making displays, posting when I read them. Everywhere and all the time. #txlchat
A2: LOTS of book trailers! Bookmarks, buttons, when they arrive I’ll make a display or bulletin board. I try to post on Instagram stories as much as I can, and more than anything just hyping the kids up with book talks when they come in for their library visits. #txlchat
A1 - I display the #TayshasList poster and tape a Bobcat (our mascot) paw next to the ones I read throughout the year. I also display the books close by for easy access. #txlchat
Q2: posters everywhere! I check the books off as we read them together. The littles love seeing how many books we check off the 2x2 list by the end of the school year! #txlchat
One of the nerdiest things I do is, every year, I print out these lists, tape them to individual pages in my book journal, and then use them when I need a book recommendation. I also highlight the title of the book after I read it. Yep. That’s me. #booknerd#txlchat
To receive credit for each book on a list, Ss had to do one of the activities from the 2x2 activity list (provided on the @TXLA website), and either post them outside their classroom or give the products to me to be displayed. #txlchat#punkrocklibrarian
I display the posters for #LoneStarList in the library as well as give them to the Ts for their classrooms. I make playlists of each year's book trailers to share with the Ss. #txlchat
A2: I work it into my regular rdg challenges @ every opportunity! I talk up the books, mark the ones I've read as a personal recommendation, and hang up info wherever I can including posters in the library bathrooms! #txlchat#readeverywhere
A2: I have posters in my library and share the lists with my teachers and even send lists home with students. I have been working on creating a website for my library and it includes links to all of the Texas reading lists appropriate for elementary. #txlchat
A2: I display the @TBABooks and @Texas2x2 books near a poster from @PermaBoundBooks and I always get extra posters at the conference for the teachers to display in classrooms. #txlchat
I have the wonderful #TXLA Reading Lists & #ALALibrary and #CBCBook reading lists on Our Books page https://t.co/MNKtp99hqg#txlchat "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go."Dr. Seuss
A2 Have you ever tried organizing a good group for classroom teachers based on one of the @TXLA book lists? It could be fun and an invitation to classroom-library #collaboration#txlchat
A2 I share by posting on website, making book marks, emailing teachers, making displays, posting when I read them. Everywhere and all the time. #txlchat

A4: I am most excited to share THE POET X by @AcevedoWrites because of the author's use of the spoken word style which is sometimes more manageable for certain Ss who may be intimidated w/traditional fiction #txlchat#htxlib_ctory
I really want to have slides and book trailers that I can have on a tv running in the library at all times to get the Ss attention! I keep asking for that TV, maybe one of these days they'll see the value & give it to me! #constantexposure2books#txlchat
