#TeacherFriends A1: My students recently used the AR Flashcard Abraham Lincoln app. It is a new addition from @ARFlashcards Making President Lincoln come alive was fun!
A1: Although I donβt have my own classroom now, i think that augmented reality apps could be extremely useful in the classroom. I think there are many different ways for implementation, best applied in higher level elementary. #TeacherFriends
I'm curious there is so much research about affects of technology for the littles. #teacherfriends Grades 1 - 5, different, different brains.
School ME!
#TeacherFriends If AR is a new term to you, it stands for "augmented reality", augmented meaning...bring something to life, off the page, 3D! More than just a 2 dimensional world, and exciting!
A1: I am pretty new to what augmented reality is, but I have used apps such as i-nigma and my GPS on my phone. We have to use the i-nigma app everyday for attendance purposes. I have used my GPS during class while we were doing a scavenger hunt! #teacherfriends#UNILitEd

I will definitely be looking for the #TeacherFriends chat in the future. I am just finishing up 3+ hours of working on my Learning Differences #MOOCEd, my battery is at 12% and my brain needs a break - but I want to learn with all of you! Next time.
#TeacherFriends@musicwithmar , I can honestly state that my Ss have no more than 20-30 min per class day with tech.We do more hands on centers, reading, math work stations, etc.The trick is to connect tech to meaningful writing or prior experience...or use it to prob. solve.
Blinking back tears, to know that it has taken the activism, courage, and leadership of the students to lead the way. #TeacherFriends are grateful to every forward step in the march toward sanity.
#TeacherFriends This is a quandary for me too @LWMrsParker . We are just delving into chromebooks. There are some great android based apps too, but we have iPads, so that is what we are using.
My first school experience w/AR was a Disney Nemo coloring book. I know the technology has changed drastically. I'm sure it is great for virtual field trips. #TeacherFriends
#TeacherFriends Bookmark this site: https://t.co/aiaSltBD0b There you can find apps, note what platforms/devices they work with, and see reviews by other educators. You can create your own collections too!
#TeacherFriends My students love Fetch! Lunch Rush
Printable AR cards help students to play a variety of learning games.

A2: I am wanting to teach grades 1-3. In one of my field experiences they used the Our Discovery Island: Phonic Tricksters. The kids loved it!! It was a great alternative to the typical learning style! #TeacherFriends#UNILitEd

#TeacherFriends A2: I have middle school 3-6th self contained special education. (Behavioral too) and we use apps designed to help us reach 4 grade levels at once! Khan Academy, MobyMax and more recently ProdigyMath
#TeacherFriends Because K is so impressionable of an age, we spend the majority of our time developing fine motor, problem solving skills, reading, counting, etc. Our tech is related, and attached to another concept, always. There is no time to play a game on the iPad.
A2: I want to teach Pre-K or Kindergarten. I have been researching some AR apps and have found a few that are interesting! Would love to know if anyone has used them in their classrooms. The two apps I found interesting were Chromville and Letters Alive! #teacherfriends#UNILitEd

A2: #teacherfriends I teach Kindergarten! We are loving iMotion for making stop-motion movies, pattern shapes and ten frames for math help. We use Notes a lot as well to record our thoughts in drawing from. We will eventually use Explain Everything! :)
I loved ViewMaster when I was little. #TeacherFriends I got one for my College Roommate nephew when he was little and he was in awe when he finally realized there were pictures in there.

Have you seen Ss doing something similar using Google Slides. It's pretty cool. I need to figure out a way to incorporate this as well. #teacherfriends
I have met the good folks at @LettersAlive and they have contributed to #TeacherFriends in the past (for our 3rd anniversary super party!)
They will likely reach out, when you use their @

(I just learned how to make stop motion animation in google slides @NCCE_EdTech the other day! So cool! Now, how to incorp. it into Ss learning. #teacherfriends
In reply to
@LWMrsParker, @fuzzlady77, @NCCE_EdTech
I teach 5th. Schoolwide we use iReady, IXL, MobyMax. I am using @StoryboardThat. Ss can create their own comics, storyboards, etc. My class is creating comics based biographies. #teacherfriends
#TeacherFriends Q3: How has a recent 'good-read' changed the way you teach or operate in your classroom? Share your aha moments with us. Suggestions, insight, favorites.
#TeacherFriends The following are very "good reads" for new teachers, or teachers who want to get hold of their game! Do you know your game plan? Mine needs tweaking at times. Spaces and Places by @debbiediller caused me to rethink/reconfig my room for student needs.
#TeacherFriends I LUV this quote. It has given me so much reason to reflect. Sometimes it doesn't take an entire book.... a quote is sufficient to make me reconsider everything.

#TeacherFriends Looking for a good read on conduction Math Work Stations? Debbie's insight into how to organize works well for me! Lots of ideas re content to include in the stations. I keep these books on a shelf near my chair at home for frequent revisiting!
I literally crawled around on the floor after reading this book to figure out how a 5 year old would use our classroom space so it was set up appropriately! I also reorganized all my closets after reading this--they are cluttered now, so maybe I need to reread! #teacherfriends

A3: In one of my classes we recently read the book βSandβ. It is an observation survey activity dealing with concept of print. It was super interesting & was a good tool. It mixes up the typical way of reading & enables students to show what they know. #TeacherFriends#UNILitEd
A3: My good-read was on Edutopia called 7 Outstanding K-8 Flexible Classrooms. This was an interesting article about how different teachers from around the U.S. arrange their classrooms. #TeacherFriends#UNILitEd
Making the shift from younger to older Ss has really caused me to reflect about my teaching philosophy. The Wild Card by @hopekingteach and @WadeKing7 confirmed my passion of making learning relevant but engaging. This week, I've planned an OLYMPIC STEM afternoon. #teacherfriends
The Morning Meeting book is good. I believe it is from The Responsive Classroom. I also am reading 365 Days of Percepts. Great discussion points. #TeacherFriends

#TeacherFriends Do you do morning meeting? It has been an integral part of our day for over 20 years! Great ideas here! Roxann Kriete highlights this routine in multiple ways. Love!
Was that an online article or a book? My webinar tomorrow night includes a section on classroom design and flexible classrooms. #TeacherFriends Register here: https://t.co/6215qleOHT

I don't know what I would do without any of the MM texts! I am in love with their Science and Math (and there's one for Literacy too!) in the Morning Meeting--SUPER engaging and learning at the same time! @responsiveclass#teacherfriends

#teacherfriends A3: hands down "Wonder" obvi bcz the Ss I work with but also because our focus on social skills is on bystander behavior. Been saying that the world can be rough outside our class doors and we don't need to add to it. Kind. Stick up for one another. Spread joy.

#TeacherFriends Q4: What changes will you make next year as a result of new information gleaned from books, workshops or conferences? Share your favorite titles or presenter topics with us.
Of course, I love including a Recording studio center where children can take a book/story, add sounds, song and record it. Now, they can use AR and do even more stop spinning my haed!!!!

i'm still getting used to the idea myself. We went to the book fair at school which was in my old classroom and my Ss said, "We're going to your room." One thing for sure, it has given me the confidence to know I can teach any grade and make an impact. #TeacherFriends
#TeacherFriends My new year will have more interactive activities utilizing Google Classroom. Our district is outfitting us with Chromebooks more and more. Can't wait to have parents and students interacting in this platform! Google Summit convinced me to do it! @GoogleForEdu
I hope to use all of your insight from the chat tonight! So thank you all for sharing! I will be sure to keep all of your ideas, books, links, etc., in mind! #TeacherFriends#UNILitEd
A4) Changes made THIS year r continuing to connect with other Ts, modifying morning meetings, interactive writing, and shared reading. Also improved my counting collections b/c of math lab #teacherfriends

Regardless of the grade I teach, my goal for the upcoming year is to build as positive of a relationship as I can with my Ss. Relationships first. Everything else second. #TeacherFriends
#TeacherFriends Q5: How do you organize thoughts and reflections from this year to make your plans for next year? Share what works well for you.
How do you use your reflections at this point of the year to finish strong? How do you make mid-year adjustments?
#TeacherFriends My advice: find a fast platform like your Outlook Cal, iPhone Notes, etc. (or notepad) to jot down ideas/rough out plans for the end of the year,or the new year. It's vital to planning later https://t.co/SzeoyG2OZv me, if you don't, a great idea will slip away.
A5: I currently work in a daycare and have had these thoughts about how I would do something in my own classroom. I decided to start writing them down in a journal to refer to when I start my career! Would love to hear other ideas! #teacherfriends#UNILitEd#teacherfriends
A5: #teacherfriends I just use a good old fashioned spiral notebook to think ahead for next year. I am a list maker and there's something satisfying about crossing items off of my lists. :)
A5: @Maggieskinder those are some awesome ideas. Right now I use a planner and google calendar. I love being organized and take pride in that, so I will definitely be using all of your ideas! Thanks so much! #TeacherFriends#UNILitEd
