Q1: As we close in on the end of the K-16 school year. What are your strategies from staying strong to the end?
A1 Using lots of technology
Can you give us some examples?
A1: Dig up your goals from the beginning of the year and see how you are doing.
Stay motivated by remembering why we do what we do! We teach our Ss to finish strong, we should too!
A1: keeping students engaged with a variety of assessment methods!
A1. Continue to practice a work/life balance, always think about whats best for students and be solution orientated.
New and engaging lesson segments.... Time on task
A1: Maintain as much as the same classroom routines with students as possible.
using kahoot, nearpod to continue interest. Also, this is a great time of the year to do STEM projects, like egg drops
. Keep trying new things to keep myself and others interested
Im always looking to friends for support and praying
A1) Look to try something new to keep things fresh. Give more choices to students.
My name is Amna and I am in the Early Childhood Education program at Georgia Gwinnett College! This is my first chat!
A1: A greater focus on social & emotional learning
A1: Does it really end? Planning for next year is in full swing, while fitting in a few new things is still a must!
I agree in my Gen Chem classes we will be creating... soap, ice cream etc and learning the science behind them.
Finding hands on activities for the kids is a great tool
Savor those moments with the ids. In a blink, it goes on by.

A1: Does it really end? Planning for next year is in full swing, while fitting in a few new things is still a must!

A1: Keep the end goals in mind! Continue to motivate students!
A1: Student choice and fun activities!
A1:Cannot wait for end of year design thinking project. Plus, cannot wait to see how many reading levels all students go up!
A1 We play fun games that help review material that they've been learning!
A1: not even thinking about the end of the year, too much happening before then: keeping Ss engaged in their learning.
Sorry for showing up late! English teacher candidate from Elon here. Looking forward to this week's
what's the new skill you are trying?
Hi its Emily Lee from GGC!
Exactly... What are the desired outcomes.....
We were just talking about podcasting this past hour on
Time to take the leap!
https://t.co/BZu1f5lecS
what's the new skill you are trying?
Great point but you can always try new things first now to help plans for next year.
A1: Reflection. It's the time of year when we separate appreciation of the work we've done from the stress of actually doing it.
A1: Making sure I remember where we've been and where we want to go. Try not to get bogged down in a late-sem slump
A1: Fun engaging activities and technology!
Q2: Also as the end of the year comes better weather (I hope). Do you take your learning outside? Or are you allowed to?
Greetings I'm Elizabeth--K-5 principal now, Grade 5 teacher always--from ME
A2: We have an enclosed courtyard with picnic tables and we use that space a lot in the spring and summer.
A2: I try to when possible but if not bring the outside in!
Really loving the nationwide representation tonight in
iris about pacing not finishing.
A2) Have to think how to take more of our learning outdoors. We have gone outside to read, but there's more all around campus.
Hi, Sorry to join late. John Birdsong from St. in Houston, TX
awesome, Craig. Been playing with to make memes/infographics, but podcasting is next!
A2: Absolutely! Environment, atmosphere, ..... Keep it exciting and engaging
A2. Yes we are allowed to and I try to when I can. I do this for adult learners too.
the Georgia weather has been crazy as usually, but every opportunity to take education outside is used!
A2 I have before, used to go to park & read Don quijote w/ Spanish IV, or make videos for end of yr outside
A2 - taking Ss outside is always welcomed at our school. It gives Ss a chance to learn In different climates & avenues.
A2: We keep it indoors unless there is a curricular reason to move class outside. Maintains academic focus.
A2: take the iPads outside to capture inspiration for blogging
. I love taking students outside to record movies for a project!
A2: Many T's at my school are going outside now, especially on Friday's. S's love reading as a class in the sun.
Pictures can spark grat writing https://t.co/hHGsBvNFpt
A2: take the iPads outside to capture inspiration for blogging
How do you use iPads outside with the glare?
A2: Lucky to be in So CA seasons allow for lots of outside opportunities. Wish more folks took advantage.
A2: as admin, I love when our classes move to explore our natural environment, rain or shine. It's about being connected.
I was thinking similarly. As the T, give up total control and allow S to navigate their learning.
A2: yes! Take it outside, inside, wherever. Get them to learn!
A2: As an IC, I usually follow T's lead on that. I know I spend more time personally learning on my back porch!
A2: I try to take the class outside so my math students can see concepts like geometry in the world around them
A2: In our Literacy class, we are instructed to take our kids outside and teach! The kids love it!
The only thing we do outside class related is produce videos because of the natural lighting.
Love the tech integration and the outdoors! https://t.co/Y4eXBvE8HI
A2: take the iPads outside to capture inspiration for blogging
Yes! Inspiration for creativity.
Turn up the brightness. All good
STEAMboxes? that wounds amazing! Maker Space? We just applied for a grant to add them to all classrooms next year.
I think taking the students outside gives them a change in environment which can help them with focus.
A2: Yes! It is always a great way to motivate students!
A1 My kiddos love going outside so we do some of our lessons on the benches in the school yard!
A2: At my school, there are several options for going outside. The students love it.
A2 My kiddos love going outside so we do some of our lessons on the benches in the school yard!
STEAMboxes? that sounds amazing! Maker Space? We just applied for a grant to add them to all classrooms next year.
Q3 How do you keep yourselves motivated to finish strong. Q1 answers seemed to focus on Ss. How about you!
that is the plan. some higher end tech to support investigating collaborating with Ts. Hope for 3 before end of year.
Are you having students create their podcast based on a theme, project, focus?
A3: prayer. Remembering not to waste a moment. Every minute i have with them is precious.
A3: work hard, play harder. have to capitalize on outside time here in ME
I have not decided yet https://t.co/ugxHdC5uq5

Boom! It's about those connections you make once motivated https://t.co/WhntfIbJ1N
A2: Yes! It is always a great way to motivate students!
A3. Keeping a work life/balance and getting inspiration from my PLN, Ted Talks, Books, Podcasts, edcamps, conferences etc
A3: It's as tough as it is for the S's....... Full lesson plans help!
A3: It's all about the ppl you put yourself around in life. Misery loves company. Be around positive, uplifting friends/family.
A3) Remember to take time for self to reflect and recharge.
basically a makerspace in a box to share across district.
A3: Countdowns and to-do lists!
Hello everyone! I'm a student teacher at the University of Arkansas! Trying to network with as many other teachers as I can!
A3: Remember that every moment with the kids is important. Continuing my own professional development to stay inspired.
A2: For our Design Thinking Project, the focus is how to improve our community around our school.
A3 I had a professor back in the day that told all of us to take Friday night off no matter what. Let your brain rest.
A3: it's all about character development
A3 Exctd to try new things, look fwd new opps & upcoming conf Ss
Yes, I like surrounding myself w/ people that are positive & smarter then me so I can learn. https://t.co/2jH7IFlOv4
A3: It's all about the ppl you put yourself around in life. Misery loves company. Be around positive, uplifting friends/family.
A3: my motivation comes from the students. Kid interactions make my days energized. Working in my office puts me to sleep.
Starting over everyday. I just try to take each day, and say it is going to do the best I can in each situation.
A3: find projects that drive the 4Cs in me. Connect with others on next steps. Don't stop trying new things!
A3: I try to remind myself that I can do it and I do make a difference
A3 Look at motivational quotes and a cute calendar to count down the days!
Tacos for you Craig? Where's tonight?
cannot be more true. A freshly rested brain can startup some great great ideas!
A3: Remembering why I wanted to be a teacher!
#3600
We just had spring break and I came up with a new clsroom design.
Bob, MS Prin in ME late in joining, sorry!
Glad you're here, Nathan!
Restorative yoga can help educators calm their mind and reinvigorate their soul for educating.
A3:Every second counts with your Ss. Motivation comes from how much they deserve my best self everyday.
Q3: collaborate and communicate
I was wondering where you were.
A3: Remembering why I wanted to be a teacher!
Q4: What do you personally do to help keep your personal/work balance? (Your playtime...or what ever you want to call it).

A4: Go out on dates with the hubby, get massages, mani/pedis, put on relaxing music when I don't have ss. Breathe in.
A3: Restorative yoga can help educators calm their minds and reinvigorate their souls for educating.
A4. I try to do one thing for myself per day. I take Fridays nights off and start Saturdays off with Yoga.
A4 I thought work was playtime
A4:Expecting a new baby. All my time at home goes into preparation for her and when she comes, my balance will be my baby girl.
A4: as a TC I have downtime built in; I'm not at school all day. I always make sure to take Saturday morning to myself
I love drinking coffee & hanging out with my wife! I also love to write. Book coming in a few months! Shameless plug, I know.
A4: I love to read!! But doing activites with family and friends is the best :)
Q4: I try to take at least one day (usually Sunday) to do something that I enjoy and spend more than an hr w/ family.
Congratulations!! What an exciting blessing!!
A4: Turn the iPhone, laptop, iPad, etc... Etc..... OFF.
!
You need to reboot, too!
A4: I find this really difficult especially being in school at the same time. I tend to do most of my work on the weekends
A4: I try to keep unnecessary meetings off my schedule. I'm a new dad, so I have to choose where to put my time/energy.
A4 Read, make time to go out, time with family and friends, take walk, watch a show, something fun.
Thank you so much! Extremely excited. Cannot wait to meet her.
it is not shameless...you need to be proud. What is it called so I can add it to my list?
A4: Mindless fun like agar.io. Read a book a la . Build something with the kids' toys. Cook a decent meal. Exercise.
A3:I personally go on walks to clear my head and it also helps me sleep better and get rid of stress.
A4: My wife bought tickets to Earth Wind and Fire & for my birthday this Friday for my birthday
Play with my own kids. Enjoy them. Right now, it's baseball.
A4: I take Friday nights and Saturdays off to do what I enjoy doing which is spending time with family and friends!
A4 I am not sure I know how to answer this ? since I am 10000% work
A4) I love skiing... I am also on a softball team.
A4: So, my free night is typically Friday night where I try to hang with friends because I know I wont see them for a week
A4 Wife and I also getting our house ready to sell. Getting us out of the winter funk.
A4: I take Saturdays to myself. Typically no school related work on that day.
No one every lay on their death bed saying, "I should have spent more time at work...."
Balance!!!!
We just sold ours while we build, good luck!
https://t.co/bnRR7jRH4P
No one every lay on their death bed saying, "I should have spent more time at work...."
Balance!!!!
And now I NEED to know what Q3 was! Going to check it out! haha
Does being in the fan club count?
A4 it's important that our ss see us balancing our lives also. They need balance with their school, homework, sports,
A4 Saturdays are mine! I put everything to the side and just have fun with my husband and kids! Sundays end up busy :/
Q5 coming up and back to the serious stuff. Not that work/life balance isn't important.
Great point, I'd never thought of it like that. https://t.co/BrdGPDH4NO
A4 it's important that our ss see us balancing our lives also. They need balance with their school, homework, sports,
A3: I picture myself as being in a version of the movie Groundhog Day? No idea, just power through. https://t.co/JgLMxQCx9d
awesome, keep us in the loop and also make sure that bathroom breaks are few and far between ;-)
Is there a membership fee for that club?
Q5 In MI we are starting the stdized testing blitz for next 6 weeks for some school. How do u keep Ss focused during testing.
Q5 How much do you think can get over what his house is worth?
A5: I keep right on teaching new skills while we're testing. Also using lots of technology. They get bored w/o it
A5. Don't teach to the test! Keep doing the great teaching you are already doing and let students be creators vs consumers.
A5: its hard to keep young ones focused but allowing them free time for focus can work as can a pat on the back
A4:I recently finished my degree, so I know how all of you going to school at night feel. Stay strong & take time for yrslf.
A5: my mentor teacher is doing the same thing somewhat. She's incorporating that into her APLAC lessons. AP exam soon
A5) Remind them that this is their opportunity to shine. It's just another day.
A1: The KISS method words great. Getting too complicated now just makes life hard for everyone.
A5 next 6 wks crazy, wont see Ss a lot, engaging activ, get them moving, get their input, try new things,
We did our Standardized Testing in February, so it wasn't too difficult. Try not to give them too much other work.
A5: You..Must demonstrate seriousness of purpose. Also, alternate test scheduling could leave too much down time.Time on Task!
A5: we start Tuesday, help Ss keep perspective. This is a gauge of one moment. We are all more than one moment. Talk mindset.
A5 I think can get at least 5% over the worth of the house
A5: agreed! Incorporate into the lessons!
Well said! https://t.co/5qOpiX7UGV
A5. Don't teach to the test! Keep doing the great teaching you are already doing and let students be creators vs consumers.
A5:Our entire month is based on differentiated goals/instruction. Incentives are in place all month for Ss to earn prizes!
A5: A concerted effort on every T's part to encourage Ss along. Rooting for them!
A5: Also a great time to throw in some S choice. 20% time, try something new.
A5: Brain Breaks and Go noodle!!
It is sad we have to offer incentives.
A5: AP/IB exams pull our Ss out of class throughout May. Need to design projects that can weather the disruption.
A5: I provide some experience with testing "genre" in short regular bursts. Find topics of high interest for instruction
A5 Try and make the time they are not testing engaging and fun so the stress levels can be kept low in the classroom
https://t.co/PFW9whS9Gi
A5: AP/IB exams pull our Ss out of class throughout May. Need to design projects that can weather the disruption.
A5: using live animals during testing is fun, too.
A5: Balance! Students need great instruction but also fun activities so they can take a break from the testing.
A5: I know a teacher that takes an entire week out of class time to give the English AP exam. I don't like that idea personally
All Ss need incentives. I always believe in hard work pays off, some of my Ss do not see that outside of our school.
Sorry, I realized after I posted. Yes, a practice one. My mentor gives it on the weekend. Feels more real for them
This is allowed? Use them for what? Affection or something more sinister? Nervous animal lover here!
Q6: What is one thing you would want to try outside the box before the end of the semester/year.

A6: Finding new ways to integrate technology in the classroom.
You are ridiculous...and canary yellow.
Gotta check for fur allergies of ss. Otherwise that sounds awesome. Also, my Prin. is afraid of dogs.
my son is the painter/designer... yellow is not an option.
I would love to do a community service project with my students to show the impact on community
A6 use more technology in the classroom!
A7: I feel like I have found a good source and community! I'm excited to graduate and get into my own classroom!
Dogs are not allowed in our building unless they are related to law enforcement.

A7: Modeling a good work/life balance for students benefits them as much as you. Never thought of it that way before!
for students or teachers?
A7: I said nothing too complicated for the remaining weeks and I am going to stick to that. This includes taking care of me.
