Teachers used to do a Secret Santa. A few years ago, the Librarian & I got each other & exchanged $10 worth of scratch offs promising to split the winnings. We split over $300 That was a Merry Christmas! #bfc530
When holiday Express visits! They visit and transform the school into the most magical place ever...the students and staff are still singing and joyous for weeks after their visit! #BFC530
Best holiday tradition at my school is the percussion concert. Students pick their own songs and create their own arrangements. The middle school students are super-serious and focused, and the high schoolers are full of joy. #BFC530

I used the love the winter beverage trolly that my former P and AP would push around. Included hot cocoa or tea and yummy sweet treats. I also love the #souperbowl my current staff has in February. Is the #SuperBowl a holiday? #bfc530

We have a schoolwide Holiday Concert for the last 1.5 hours on the last day before break. The seniors always cime up, sit on the stage, and do a group sing-a-long during the last song #bfc530

My Ss make cards for a veterans group and the local nursing home. We make small gifts for family members some years. No school wide thing though. #bfc530

Wish our middle school had more holiday traditions. Have the concerts, & that's great, but really nothing around this time, Halloween, Valentine's Day, etc. As a kid we did something for each, we have to remember there is a place to build community among the academics #bfc530

Our school has our only pep rally right before break. Which I realize is weird. Maybe it's because we don't have a football team. Either way we look forward to it #bfc530
Our DO luncheon and white elephant gift exchange, hilarious. We also sponsor 2-3 families to buy gifts for. Always fun to shop for little one’s now that mine are moving on from the toy stage. #bfc530

My favorite new holiday tradition in grade 4 is having the students write about someone special in their life and why they are grateful for them. We invite them in and have students read to the person. I like emphasizing gratitude around the holidays #bfc530
We do a Senior Citizen Dance early in the month which is great, but sometimes its good to do something for the kids too. Concerned about introverted kid who sees school as going to class to class & back on the bus. Special events give them something more than that. #bfc530
For a while it was yet... Once I changed roles I was tied of ppl telling me they couldn't do this or that do I always added YET to the statement. This year it was balance. I think it worked. Working on next year's. #bfc530.

We also collect donations for @OttawaFoodBank every holiday season.
Always a class project but collected school wide. Last year it was #ELDmath & this year #FIF4U French immersion initiative.

My favorite Holiday tradition at my school is Secret Santa. My students love seeing me use my critical thinking skills to figure out who my secret Santa is before reveal day. I must admit times have changed from pulling from a hat to using elfster but it’s still fun. #BFC530
We do a countdown to the holiday break starting when we come back from Thanksgiving and I show them commercial of the crazy toys available when I was a kid everyone Monday until the break, that usually brings good laughs and discussions about how life has changed #bfc530
