Hey #idedchat how are y'all doing? @averyteach is getting some much needed R&R so we are just gonna chat informally tonight. Anyone already in school? We don't start until after labor day.
I'd start #idedchat by saying that we are enhancing our #gsuiteedu core by adding chrome devices & implementing @ClassLink to help with apps/passwords/rostering Thanks for the lead @droberts1025

I think we are probably at or near 1:1 but we are using "cart model." I'm in the process of parsing that out using Chrome Gopher reports & Sheets and figuring out how we migrate to a "school only" 1:1 (not going home yet) #idedchat
I love Chromebooks and the opportunities they have. The only issue we have is with new students getting logins to work initially. Usually have a day or so delay getting kids up and running. #idedchat
This is definitely a challenge Kevin. @GwenKHS82@umneycreep and I work hard to handle new/transferring students and getting them into our system and their classes to participate as soon as possible. It is a shift! #idedchat
We use @CanvasLMS and if I can’t get the Ss logged in on their device with their login, I log into their system, mascaraed as them, then let them work on their stuff. Had to do this today for a quiz. Improvise. #IDEdchat

I think something I'm really looking forward to this upcoming is sharing the new #eduprotocols books I bought and encouraging teachers to check them out! Maybe even doing a book study! #idedchat@jcorippo@mhebern
We put together a pretty good schedule this year (timetable). I'm interested how it impacts how things go this year in terms of student behaviour and engagement. #idedchat

I have several: You're full of greatness. Listen to your heart. Kindness is more important than getting your own way. It's not always easy but it's important. You're kind of a big deal...#idedchat
Often this is the case, but I'd do an inventory and ask what they are being used for that a Chromebook couldn't do. Then ask if there is another activity/method of doing that task(s). #idedchat

Block 8–4 classes one day, 4 classes the next. Rotate. Have the class for the year. Block 4 is 4 classes a day everyday. Do a year worth of class in a semester. #IDedchat

.@TammyMcMorrow I was going to reply to your Facebook video editing post on FB but I'm pretty hesitant on FB... Looked like you got some pretty cool ideas. I do lots of Android/iOS/Mac video stuff... let me know if you ever wanna just share ideas. #idedchat

And exposing students to the multiple platforms will help prepare them for life after high school. Never know what platform you will see in the "real world" #idedchat
Your kids will struggle with the Friday to Tuesday/Thursday to Monday transition. Especially hard if you have an assessment at the beginning of the week. #IDedchat
I'm looking forward to recording each of my first graders finish this sentence: This is the year I... (@lauriedroberts asked her seniors to do the same) #idedchat
As we are all at the beginning portion of the school year... what PD/Professional learning opportunities are you anticipating or looking forward to for you and fellow team mates? #idedchat
Well, if you check out the #eduprotocols hashtag, you will think you are some kind of futurist. It’s really going strong, with folks all over the US jumping in!!
My instructional coach and I are developing a PD arc for our school year. We're planning twice a month ongoing PD with staff. No more random acts of professional development. #idedchat
We are hitting @MarzanoResearch strategies hard this year. It’s more documenting what we are doing versus a real change. I expect engagement by students and accountability. It is terminology for me versus a real culture change. #IDedchat
I am excited to serve as the building representative for PD in the district. I am excited to bring in new ideas and share my thoughts to better district PD, #IDedchat
Oh cool. That makes sense. I think there is value in on-demand/personalized stuff too. But when there is no follow up, it definitely can be hit/miss. #idedchat
I agree. I also WANT people in my room. I am not perfect, but I want to get as close as possible. I want constructive criticism of my methods and techniques. I want to improve. I want to change. #IDedchat
That's a good question. This is my first year serving so I am new to everything. Our first meeting isn't for a couple of weeks, and we have a new Director of PD. So it'll be interesting to see what she has in mine. #idedchat
The last few years, my district really hasn't offered anything but one primary professional development, which isn't in itself bad, but no variety or options. I don't really care for that. One size doesn't fit all. #idedchat
I’d love to have a bingo board of options. Some virtual, some F2F. Some could be outside of district at night. There are so many possibilities. #IDedchat
Oh agreed. I know much of it has been focused on F2F in district. Funds have been set aside for out of district, but not many take advantage of it. Hoping to shift the mindset over time. #idedchat
Time must be provided for Ts to digest what they learn and apply. Not a huge fan of before or after school PD. My kids district has release every Wednesday early for Ts to do PD within contract time. #IDedchat
Another item I'm excited about is that our EdTech Team came up with a way to digitize our new staff onboarding process using @googledocs@GoogleForEdu Forms & Add-Ons. New staff need access sooner these days & our team is busier than ever. Using tech to work smarter #idedchat
That's definitely true. Teachers also need opportunities to try out new things and not feel pressured to "succeed" immediately. Even worse when "evaluations" are imminent & tied to PD. #idedchat
Why do we evaluate based on new strategies and how well you implement? A new strat may work in one class but crash and burn in another. Other thing is if it does, doesn’t mean you give up. Gotta keep pressing ahead. #IDedchat
I love the #personalizedPD approach. Give Ts time to investigate what they want to learn and follow up with them. Have "unsessions" or something of the sort. #idedchat
Thanks for joining tonight everyone! I hope @averyteach feels better soon! I'll be checking this #idedchat hashtag like always... but I'm off to enjoy my patio!
I think some of it is difficult for Admin to recognize what is new when they (in my building) come in unannounced at several points throughout the year to catch you "in your element". #idedchat
I’m glad we hung out tonight. Hope you all have an awesome week. Hope @averyteach is feeling better. Remember, we improve and learn because of one another. #idedchat
That’s where honest convo must take place. Evaluations are a two way street IMO. I invite my admins in when I am doing something new for their opinion and to just give them a snapshot. #IDedchat
