A1: If you know someone where you're seeking employment, talk to them. Research the position online, Google possible interview questions. Get a good night's sleep the night before. Go in with a smile and give it your best shot! #engagechat

A1 I always talk it out with my friends first. I go through my SM feeds to see what my story says about me as an educator. I review/refresh my portfolio. I want to tell a story of passion/kindness/leadership. I find the ways my story fits the job. Stay authentic. #engagechat
A1 If I'm interviewing at a school, research the school & community, check for their mission & initiatives, practice with a veteran T or admin w/ interview experience, know the position you're looking at & remember your passion for kids! #engagechat
A1 I always get my outfit ready.
I have my husband ask me questions to prep and I visualize a positive experience. Prayer too.
I also have a website I prepare: Old one at first school to interview for my job now
https://t.co/nrkRyuNJGq#engagechat
A1: Always did my homework prior to any interview - googled the district, made phone calls, talked to realtors, city officials to get a feel for people's perception of the district. #engagechat

A1-Make sure you know your stuff-stay current, be confident...and have good questions for the person interviewing you!
On the flip side, we had 4th graders interview ~20 community members today as we begin to create HONY style social media pages for our county! #engagechat
A1 With 15 yrs of teaching behind me and just two job switches so far, haven’t faced so many! I just try to stay confident, honest and read a little bit about the institution I’m interviewing for #engagechat

Thought of an interview as an opportunity to demonstrate one of the most important skills for a superintendent: the ability to respond to questions & provide information in a pressured situation. #engagechat
Yes. I pray, I reflect. I write also a lot to make sure I get my ideas out. I stay humble. I know I am not the best, but I will prove that I am the best for the job. #engagechat
A1. I think one needs to be careful about thinking they are in control of a interview. The panel is looking for what ‘they’ are looking for, so all you can do is be who you are and hope that that is what they are looking for. But be your best you! #engagechat
A1 If an interviewer, be familiar with the applicant's resume to see if there's a good fit. Google the person to see what pops up on social media or elsewhere online. Prepare questions that get to how well the person aligns with corporate culture. #EngageChat
It is not that I post stupid feeds, I like to review the story I have been telling for the last while. I want to reference my SoMe feeds during the interview because it is important today. It is good to always stay fresh. #engagechat
A1 I was always told to ask a question to let the interviewers brag. I asked them what they thought made them better than the other corporations around them in the area? It backfired, as they thought I needed convincing that they were the best. #engagechat
Q2: I have not had the privilege of interviewing someone yet, but I think it is important to look for people who think differently than you when forming a team. Diversity of opinion leads to innovative solutions. #EngageChat

#engagechat
A2 Answer the complete questions that you are being asked. It is okay to pause and gather your thoughts before answering. If you require clarification on the question, ask for it. #engagechat

Amazing idea! It can be tempting to surround ourselves with "yes men & yes women" who agree with us all the time, but true growth & innovative practices only happen when we are stretched & pushed outside our comfort zone! #engagechat

A2. Ask for water! Then take a small mouthful after you are asked every question to give yourself time to process all possible contexts for the asking of the question, then formulate a answer and give it with eye contact to the person who asked it. #engagechat With a smile.
A2: Try to stay relaxed, smile, and be honest. If it is the right fit/job for you it will work out! If it doesn't that just means God has something that is better for you. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you! #engagechat
A2: While interviewing, I find it important to ask additional questions to go deeper. Find out what that person's philosophie is. How do they see creativity, life long learning, critical thinking, innovation not only in a classroom context, but for themselves as well. #engagechat
Lol! Yes...Getting there too early and you will have a million things running through your head instead of being focused #pacing#anxietybuilding#EngageChat

A2 Remember why you went into the profession before you go, so your passion shows. Tell who you are as a person and educator.

g. Pause to think before responding.
#engagechat
A2 Know potential questions and answers well enough to be confident of the subjects, but don't try rote memorization or over rehearse and become robotic. Be assured, not Memorex. #EngageChat
A2: Stay calm & stay on topic when question is asked. Never do a “Mic drop”answer the question completely. Show your own personality, the reason for staying calm. Engage with panel, also ask questions, while not trying to as Kipling wrote “Look to go and talk 2 fine” #engagechat
A2: Try to stay relaxed, smile, and be honest. If it is the right fit/job for you it will work out! If it doesn't that just means God has something that is better for you. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you! #engagechat

A2) Something that might sound odd: if it's in person, be careful of perfumes & colognes. Some ppl r sensitive to smells, & one scent smells "good" to one person & not so good to another. You want to be the one to make an impact, not your perfume/cologne. #engagechat
YES! I have stopped wearing it altogether once I became a mother, even hand soaps. '
#engagechat
I can't hug people with heavy perfumes anymore, it lingers all day and I get a bad headache

A3b I did a Skype interview w/ a principal overseas & I needed to be flexible when we started the interview and 5min in he had to step away for a Ss emergency. 30 min later, we were back online. Gotta roll w/ whatever happens sometimes! #engagechat
A3 I’m terrible at Skype interviews. The thing where you can’t look the person in the eye? Terrible. I’d rather just talk on the phone like it’s 1997. #engagechat
A3: Avoid avoidable tech glitches by practicing before w/ a test call, be cognizant of surroundings & make sure you eliminate interruptions. #engagechat

Some scents make my husband feel sick, & my TA suffers from migraines. Scents actually trigger her migraines. B/c of this, I'm always hyper aware of how scents might affect others. I rarely put on perfume now b/c of this. #engagechat
A3 Before a Skype interview, check out your lighting, sound and camera angle. Do a dry run and play back to see how you come off and adjust. Otherwise, prepare the same as face to face with proper dress, attitude and body language. #EngageChat

Wear what you would normally wear on an interview, have the background be simple, and smile. Pause if need to think through the question and make sure you practice Skype prior with a friend. #engagechat
Iʻm sorry - have to leave early...So glad I was able to connect w/ #engagechat PLN! @daviswelcome spurred on gr8 answers about interviews. Make it a great weekend everyone!
A3: Never done this, but I would think a lot of same strategies for a normal interview. Also, making sure aren't interrupted (sounds simple, but it would tricky at my house!). #engagechat

A3: Practice answering questions looking directly at camera by using vid feature on phone. Be mineful of facial expression and body language. Speak clear as you did in front of the bathroom mirror when you were kid practicing a speech...LOL! #engagechat

I did google hangout and it worked great, Luckily my Skype interview with Jon Harper was no video bc my mic would not work so I had to go low to the speaker to talk....tough when on an interview...like a turtle #engagechat
A2: Fired myself up prior to interviewing by realizing I could probably respond to any question w/ prepared answers related to focus, funding, communication, collaboration, character, competence & relationships #engagechat

A4 We tend to look unprepared. We don't seem as passionate about the job at hand. We stumble for words and we tend to forget some important details from our story/our past that showcase our fit for the job. You want to shine with your heart. Review your story. #engagechat
Oh no! Yes, I had to ask the technology teacher to please not use the essential oils diffuser while we were there. My TA has been suffering all week with her migraine & the smell was making her sick. #engagechat
A4 Lack of preparation could be the difference in getting the job or not. It could also mean there wouldn’t be another chance to make that first impression! #engagechat
A4: Lack of time for travel if it is a live interview can be a pitfall. It is better to arrive early and wait a little, rather than rushing in and feeling panicked. #EngageChat
A1: First, I make sure I can explain why I would be a great fit for the organization. Then, reflect on my experiences that align with the prerequisites for the job position. Then, I have a friend give me a practice interview.
#engagechat
A4 Vague, unspecific responses, lack on evidence to back up claims, general uncomfortableness - I feel you can tell pretty early on if someone isn't prepared. Just has a bad vibe, body language is off, etc #engagechat

A4 We’re a progressive school with the word “ethical” in our school name. We often ask what ethical learning and progressive education mean to our candidates. If they can’t answer, it’s over. I bet we’ve lost great people that way, but do your homework. #engagechat
A4 We tend to look unprepared. We don't seem as passionate about the job at hand. We stumble for words and we tend to forget some important details from our story/our past that showcase our fit for the job. You want to shine with your heart. Review your story. #engagechat
A4 Lack of interview preparation comes through when you give dumb answers or ask dumb -- yes dumb -- questions such as, "What do you do here?" It's OK not to know everything, but at least show you had the interest and courtesy to get acquainted. #EngageChat
I had an interview a few hours away once & I gave myself plenty of time to drive, find the school, find a fast food restaurant to use the bathroom, get some water & relax a bit - it really does help to have extra time! #engagechat
A4: Commin pitfalls...overconfidence, lack of rest, limited research done about the role, extreme nerves, limited eye contact, not listening when necessary, not seeming grateful for the opportunity, lack of authenticity. #EngageChat
A4: Not listening – only worrying about what you are going to say while talking too much – telling it all – even if it’s not relevant & acting cocky – being overconfident #engagechat
A4-Knowing little/nothing about the school/division/position...difficulty communicating...not being able to back up what you say you do...and (true story) putting interview panel of 5 on hold to answer your cell mid-convo! #engagechat
A4 Not having personal examples to support your answers. Rambling in an effort to find a good answer. Not knowing enough about the building/district/position. #EngageChat
A4. Showing nervousness, forgetting parts of your story that you want to tell someone, stumbling on words , talking too fast, not coming off that you are truly interested in the job or showing passion or interest in the area. #engagechat
Always, always have something to ask such as what their building goals are, what are community & parent partnerships like etc. Just some easy ones to hit it out of the park in any school! #engagechat
A4) You have little knowledge about the school; you begin to sound less than articulate due to an inability to answer questions well; you could come off as not very interested or unqualified. #engagechat
A4: One doesn’t answer the question clearly. Nerves take over and it’s possible to ramble or lose train of thought. It shows interview panel you are not invested meaning you didn’t take interview seriously to prepare. #engagechat
Have to bounce out of here early...Have an awesome weekend! Thanks as always @daviswelcome we should always be building our interview skills for what comes next #engagechat
A5 You have to find ways during the interview to showcase who you are! It’s important to know who you are and what you bring to the position! #EngageChat
