A1 It's great for me to be able to talk through ideas and concerns. It's not necessarily that they are holding me accountable, but that they care enough about me and my goals to listen #novaedchat
When I set a goal having a partner is crucial to success. Whether it’s a mentor or a friend, it helps me keep a realistic timeline. #procrastination#NOVAedchat
A1: an accountability partner is a key when reaching for goals that stretch us because we all can use a nudge to get moving and a cheerleader to keep going! #novaedchat
Oops. Got so excited about my dog gif I forgot to finish saying who I am. I’m a Resource Teacher in FCPS. I 💗 Blended Learning, PBL, flexible seating, all things student centered! #novaedchat
A1 an accountability partner gives you an extra boost of motivation & positivity! They can also call you out if you are slacking when you need it! #novaedchat
I get so inspired by what I see on twitter that I can't help raving about it to the friends! When I stop raving, they start worrying and know to ask me about my progress
A2: My librarian is my teaching partner and she is so organized and helpful in keeping me on track with our common goal for our students. She is very grounded and I am a little over the top! right @MsMucciolo ? but we work well to support each other. #NoVAedChat
I LOVE flexible seating. But it’s important to keep in mind that flexible seating means nothing without flexible learning! It’s more about the mindset than the furniture! #novaedchat
A2 In school: my SBTS, librarian, and a couple of admin. Out of school: my mom! They always ask me how/what I'm doing, reading, or learning about #novaedchat
A2 critical friend is on speed dial and at the end of the day the reminder to keep on track that’s the strongest: the kids! They deserve it! #novaedchat
Q2: Shoutout to @teachforthem for always keep the team on track to bring our best for the Ss! Couldn't ask for a better team lead and friend #novaedchat
A2: my #oneword is consistency. I’m hoping my #PLN at #NoVAedchat will help me CONSISTENTLY set aside time to join in an awesome conversation! Call me out people!!
A2: My CT for content goals. My co-collaborator @libraryms for blogs, presentations etc. My literacy cohort for literacy. So yes -- different goals, different partners. Takes a village! #novaedchat
A2 ❤️ this ?, this year I’m at a new school so I’m still focusing on getting to know the population and the community, but I’m also focused on learning about social justice and equity #novaedchat
Q2: Shoutout to @teachforthem for always keep the team on track to bring our best for the Ss! Couldn't ask for a better team lead and friend #novaedchat
Suzanne, SBTS at Madison joining in late! #NOVAedchat Here is the update on my my mini clay pizza in case you were waiting in anticipation from last week. Thanks for the reminder @MsPettyTweets
YUP! We share students and see students on an A/B rotation... and are office-mates so it is a great situation. We work on print and online research and collaboration and are currently working on an extended #PBLinFCPS within our two settings. #NoVAedChat

Absolutely!! I don’t think anyone has just ONE thing their working toward! Use your resources in the building, in your pln... don’t turn down support! #novaedchat
Q3: Sometimes, once you have a goal it can be difficult to keep at it over a long period of time. How might setting smaller goals help guide us toward being successful? #NoVAedChat
A3 How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! Small goals over a longer period let you "digest" what you've already worked on and reflect on how it has gone so far so you can set new goals #novaedchat
A3: I like setting large goals and then I am a fan of mini deadlines (even if self-imposed) to reach the big goal. Just like I chunk assignments for students, I chunk goals for myself and team. #novaedchat
A3: I ask myself, what does "smaller" mean? More frequent? Easier to accomplish? More vulnerable to the public? These are all important. Also, I like to break down my big goal and asky myself, "What will this look like? Sounds like? Feel like? What is success?" #NOVAedchat
Q3: Big goals are exciting, but little goals along the way help us build positive work habits and gain a sense of accomplishment when they are reached #novaedchat
Definitely- breaking down a big goal into weekly signposts can keep interest and engagement in your goal- and keep you on track to succeed! #novaedchat
Sometimes we confuse complex and difficult tasks with each other! Will it take greater stamina to complete, or is the task itself more complex? #novaedchat
yes! I am all about Google Classroom and Google Drive this year. Keeping track of plans and assignments have become so much easier, not to mention sharing resources with other teachers #NoVAedChat
If someone gives me a paper copy of something... I’ve already lost it!! I’m all about electronic copies. If only my filing cabinet was as organized as my Google Drive! #novaedchat
#NOVAedchat
I don't follow this system for bulletjournaling but this is a good video to get the idea of disc journals. I have two - by main notebook for lists, notes from meetings, and calendar and my plan book with class rosters.
A4: I think one way to approach long terms goal is to make sure you do something every day or week to accomplish the goal. I don't like TOO long to accomplish goals for fear that they will fall off the radar. #NOVAedchat
Yes! So happy you brought that up -- reflection is key -- sometimes you need to change course or goals all together -- reflection helps us figure that out. #NoVAedChat
A4: planning how I’m going to use my planning time. I can’t get to consistency if I’m operating without a plan. Plan an assessment, plan when I’ll give feedback. Then stick to it! #NoVAedchat
It's cool. You can get a base notebook for about 15 dollars from staples. You will also need to get a "hole" punch. Yesterday, I will at a meeting and had a portable punch with me. I was able to add the handouts right into my notebook. #NOVAedchat
FBF is all about finding a book that they want to read and spending time reading it in class on Fridays. It's sort of like DEAR, but I give them time to chat about it with their friends afterward as we transition into classwork! #novaedchat
A4: Put it on the calendar. When I make a commitment to hang out with friends or sign up for a yoga class--I do it. I'm going to set up check-ins to remind myself to #reflect, even if it's one word or sentence or image or question. #NOVAedchat
This is incredible! I have needed something like this for ages but have not been able to get my head around organizing it.
So glad my 3 year old finally passed out so I could eavesdrop on #NOVAedchat tonight! Inspiring!

A5 Modeling breaking down goals would be such a good way to show students that goal setting and follow through are lifelong endeavors, and that plans change! Google Calendar & Tasks will be super helpful to get them started #novaedchat
A5: our kids are OVERWHELMED! Chunking things down into straightforward tasks or targets is huge. Scaffolding, timelines, learning targets. Make sure it’s doable! Small accomplishments breed big achievements! #NoVAedchat
A5: Goal setting/time management is a skill like any other. We have to model for kids how to plan to meet short and long-term goals. Plus, we have to help them find the method that works for them. #NOVAedchat
A5 help Ss stay organized w deadlines in the method that works for them: agenda book, Google calendar, project map, etc. Be understanding if they are having trouble sticking to goals. Its hard as adults! #novaedchat
When I build a #PBL, I give them a full breakdown of all the lessons in the unit. They can see how all of their time will be spent, how small steps support and inform the big picture. #NOVAedchat
When it comes to goal setting and organization, students need choice and modeling. Not long ago, I thought MY system was the way to go. Now I realize this has to be as individualized for students as instruction. #novaedchat
Based on our conversation, I will check out disc journals! And buy more sharpies. And follow more of this amazing crew of educators on Twitter. #PLN#novaedchat
A6 Be more intentional with helping students find accountability partners, setting goals, and reflecting on our learning while taking time to explore the same ideas for myself! #novaedchat
Corey - touch base with me if you want to talk about disc journals more for organization. :) I am new to it so I am excited about it right now! and trying to us and make it a regular part of my day.#NoVAedChat
