A1: I teach because I believe that we have a chance to impact the next generation. It is about seeing the potential in our learners that maybe they don’t see. #sdedchat
A1: There so many of these young ones that I see my own self in. I can't go back and fix my mistakes, but I can coach and encourage the next generation to go about things in a smarter and more intelligent manner. #sdedchat
Ann Rose Santoro of Port Chester, NY, “I think it is so important for teachers to leave their community and see there are other people going through the same challenges and celebrations.” #sdedchat
A1: I teach because I love being around kids. I want to help kids learn - even the reluctant learners and the difficult learners. I want to be the adult that makes kids excited about social studies
#sdedchat
A1: No other profession has the ability to shape the future quite like teaching. I want to do what I can to leave a purposeful influence on the world by helping to form its future. #sdedchat@_on11@ERobbPrincipal@LRobbTeacher@MHSLewisHistory
A1: I teach to make a difference. It was my teachers who helped me grown, learn & believe in myself. I want to be a champion for EVERY student because I honestly believe every life matters & we all deserve to learn. #sdedchat

A1: Pretty simple for me...I love kids. Becoming an aunt at a young age had a huge impact on me. It's amazing to be able to influence students at the same time that I learn so much from them. #sdedchat

A2: My favorite thing about teaching is the ability to excite kids about any topic! To be still...and to connect with kids. I also love watching kids grow and learn without me! Sometimes I sit back and watch kids discuss, argue and learn together...and it's exciting #sdedchat
A2: Everyday I have the opportunity to share my passion for the past and give voices to people who maybe have not walked on the earth in 100 years or more. It’s humbling to share the history of our world with students in an innovative way. #sdedchat@ERobbPrincipal@KGT_Educator
Fun fact: ECET2 Conferences are designed and facilitated by teachers for teachers! March 10th, 2018 will be the 1st ever in the state of South Dakota. #sdedchat
A2: The impact that our students have on me. I said at last year's graduation that I had never more kids give me pep talks. Usually, it's the other way around. #sdedchat

A2: Watching students find the love of something. Whether it’s reading, coding, being creative, or something else. Everyone needs a passion. I love giving them the chance to explore and find theirs. #sdedchat
A2.2: I never gave this thought much space in the past, but this year I have come to learn more than ever how much my kids truly care about me. @megan_hacholski reminds me about this frequently. They really do care. Always moves my heart. #sdedchat
This! I had a kiddo from 8 years ago email me to see if she could visit before break. She’s now a Sophomore and taller than me. We had a really nice lunch together. ❤️ #SDedchat
The trust - Trust me to do what I need to do, to help each student, not just focus on the "here's what all are doing" Plus, as always funding! #sdedchat
A3: Teacher mindset. If every teacher had a growth mindset and believed every student was capable of great things and a fresh start each day... #sdedchat
A3: The mindset that education is for the benefit of the person who's name is on the plate outside of the classroom door. It's not about us...it's about them. #sdedchat
A3: I would love to take on assessment! Grades can encourage students to play the game of school, instead of enjoying the opportunity to learn. They also often include behavior issues instead of representing learning. #sdedchat
A3: Teacher mindset. If every teacher had a growth mindset and believed every student was capable of great things and a fresh start each day... #sdedchat
So much yes. Nothing fires me up more than when we start to make decisions that benefit the name plate holders rather than our learners. Yikes. #sdedchat
There are several things I would like to attack but class size and the amount of learners that I am responsible for would be first. It is difficult to do all the things I would like (and assess authentically) with such a large number of learners. #sdedchat
Hahaha! YES. Had the same conversation this summer with an admin. I explained my frustration with some in leadership, how there was trust when I was hired, but somehow/somewhere that was eroded. You hired us...now trust us to do what you hired us for. #sdedchat
That is stressful. Last year I had around 130+ kids....and that was hard! It was hard to build relationships, hard to keep track of assignments, and hard with classroom management. #sdedchat

Ann Rose Santoro of Port Chester, NY, "ECET2 allows teachers to brainstorm ways to solve problems together. I’m able to see that if other teacher leaders can get through a certain challenge then I can also.” #sdedchat
A4: I try to send postcards to educators in our district when I see them doing incredible things for their learners. #sdedchat I want them to know they matter!
A4: I offer help with any technology needs. Offer PD on tech and book studies for credit. Write notes to people thanking them or noticing their awesomeness. #sdedchat

As a state focus I work with a committee of educators to bring FREE PD to South Dakota. We have done this through #edcamps and now #ecet2sd is happening. I like throwing parties to again make sure teachers know they matter. #sdedchat
A4: I took on the role of team leader this year which has been a great way to support colleagues. I try to make my room an inviting place and spend intentional time building encouraging relationships with teachers around the building. #sdedchat
A4: our team meetings start with sharing positives and brainstorming if anyone has problems to solve. Our entire school has really come together over the past few years as we’ve faced a number of situations that required a village. #sdedchat
A4: I offer help with any technology needs. Offer PD on tech and book studies for credit. Write notes to people thanking them or noticing their awesomeness. #sdedchat
A4: As a technology teacher, I do whatever I can, whenever I can, to help people become more comfortable trying new things with their students. I think everyone knows I will always help them in any way I can. #sdedchat
A3: Teachers who teach long after the passion has left. Maybe a change in school or course could help, but the teachers who are marking time until they leave do little to inspire students. #sdedchat
A4: Struggling. Need to do more. Honestly, speaking truth about what people are doing. Highlighting the good, coaching and polishing the weak points. Encouraged @megan_hacholski to test this out today with @bmohamenglish. If you see good, go speak it! #sdedchat
I did it as a technology integrationist and now as an admin. I had a principal drop 50cents for a pop on my desk when I taught that left a mark on me. The little things matter. #sdedchat@twainfin
#sdedchat I help staff with new technology, send out new ideas, help students as needed, send out interesting articles that I think will help others.
District - PD days, credits paid for PD ($45).
A4: totally read the question wrong! 😂 I am the go to for tech issues when our IT isn’t available. I share our different global initiatives and offer to train staff or set up their classes. #sdedchat
I want to grow in helping students be more expressive with work - the learning should be on them, not just rote memory. I want to be fully project based in the future! #sdedchat
A5: Where do I start?!?!
I want to be more of an awesomizer #culturize
I want to focus more on Mastery Learning and help guide others
I want to be more positive in my classoom and help students build their growth mindset
I want to use technology even more #sdedchat
Did you know ECET2 hinges on the fact that nobody knows teaching like teachers. In addition to teacher-designed workshops, the convening also brings teachers together in Colleague Circles, a collaboration structure. #sdedchat
A5: Innovation and technology integration. I want to inspire my students to create authentic products and actively engage and interact with the people of the past! #sdedchat
I want to grow in helping students be more expressive with work - the learning should be on them, not just rote memory. I want to be fully project based in the future! #sdedchat
A5: Allowing the students to take the lead and not try to be in control of everything. Being OK with loud learning and messy outcomes. Learning to laugh more at failure. #sdedchat
A5: I'm reading this book with my daughters. ( they are super excited). It's direct and not for everyone but I'll find elements we can use to help students think about their digital tattoo. #sdedchat
A5: I am fascinated with cognitive psychology right now, and would love to be able to bring that interest into helping students learn more about how to learn. #SDedchat
A5: To understand the mental health challenges our students are increasingly facing. To support them better as they try to manage school and their own wellness. #sdedchat
Yes! For the roaring twenties students are going to create websites for the Museum of American History (made up by me) to educate visitors on the era. So excited! #sdedchat
A5: I am working on patience. I am also working on perspective. Often times I look at a problem from one point of view. I want to change that. #sdedchat
A6: @thomascmurray had a great statement that relates to this topic. This is a fine line and to often it makes our profession look bad as other professions do not get these days. #sdedchat
A6: Talk about our profession in a positive way. I hate hearing "I'm just a teacher" or when we complain in public about kids, meetings, or whatever. WE HAVE THE BEST JOB EVER. Shout it from the rooftop with a smile. #sdedchat
A6: sticking together as educators. Helping and supporting each other. Learn from others and work together to not reinvent the wheel on a constant basis. #sdedchat
A5: to help students by learning more about their challenges, and to find new ways to present materials to help them prepare for the world outside of school. #sdedchat
I love using social media to show what I am doing in my classroom. I want to show people that my students are learning, engaged and that I try to create exciting lesson ideas. I want the public to know that I value their children and my job #sdedchat
A6: Face to the wind. Ignore the push back and fight against the current. I once told a superintendent "It is time to make hamburgers out of the 'sacred cows' in education." Be brave and take the first step. #sdedchat
EXACTLY! I am also tired of people saying that "teachers get the summer off" I let people know that I spend my summers preparing for an awesome school year! #sdedchat
A6: Talk about our profession in a positive way. I hate hearing "I'm just a teacher" or when we complain in public about kids, meetings, or whatever. WE HAVE THE BEST JOB EVER. Shout it from the rooftop with a smile. #sdedchat
A6: Using as many ways as we can to tell all the positive things that happen in our schools every day. As @gcouros would say, "We need to make the positive so loud that the negative becomes almost impossible to hear." #SDedchat

I told my wife about it and she asked if I still had a job. Yeah...I was a bit of a nut back in the day. I have become more wise in how I speak my mind. #sdedchat

A7: The amazing educators I get to work with everyday in Harrisburg. They are the reason I get up in the morning ready to go make a difference. #sdedchat
A6: Focus first on creating the most awesome, absolutely best experience that every student would want to be a part of. When they go home and can't wait to talk about their day well then you've just created fan club!
#sdedchat

A7: I want to be a Mr. Feeney type of teacher. A teacher who pushes his students to unlock their full potential and support his students in any way possible! #sdedchat@MrsAsztalos@KGT_Educator@_on11
I like keeping up with others. I work with women who are constantly on top on things in the education world and they inspire me to push harder and harder! #sdedchat
A7: Making a connection with even one child keeps me moving forward. Seeing them years later, successful in life is the best feeling ever! We are so lucky to have that outcome in our work. #sdedchat
A7: I'm driven by knowing that our future is in the hands of our students. When they are the ones leading the way, I want them to know that people are more important than things, and to be able to educate themselves as they need to. #SDedchat
A8: I work to be a leader in empowering our teachers to take a hold of their profession and take risks for our learners. This all starts with relationships and trust. #sdedchat
A8: I am willing to be the first to show up and push, pull, lift, sweep, salt, listen, talk, guide, champion, ponder, solve, and really whatever it takes. #sdedchat
A8: integrating tech and troubleshooting tech, creating global learners, the use of flexible seating, and student led classrooms. Also co-founded @EdCampStAug that is hosted st our school. #sdedchat
A8: I am the 7th grade team leader and participate in a committee working to reform our remediation block. I am trying to involve myself however possible in supporting my colleagues and especially my amazing students! #sdedchat
Let us know if we can help you with your remediation block and getting the right learners in the right room. We help schools with an easy scheduling software. #sdedchat
A8: I am relentless...True story, I was called this by Brendan Shanahan (NHL Hall of Famer) when I was a kid. I dream big. I refuse to settle for "NO" as an answer to reaching my dreams for how great our students can be. #sdedchat

A8: I try to get obstacles out of the way for the teachers. I am present at all events, help out in a pinch, cover classes, move furniture, do what needs to be done. #sdedchat
A8: I've offered summer and after school technology classes, particularly related to Google Suite for Education, and I also work individually with teachers when they ask. #sdedchat
I hope we sell out and have to try to be creative in how to get more tickets to this event! Nominate yourself and a fellow educator today! This is going to be an incredible event. #sdedchat
THANK YOU #SDEDCHAT for allowing us to moderate the chat tonight! We are excited to be coming to South Dakota. I hope we have a packed house on March 10th, 2018
