A1: I believe we have a culture of YES! People aren't afraid to take risks in order to possibly get something remarkable. It's also a culture of joy. You can tell by the smiles on their faces and the laughter you hear #LeadLAP#CultureMatters
A1: Comfortable and safe. I know because I teach English by making my class a safe place to talk about ANYTHING, even if it's tangential. We learn a language by using it authentically. This means I never say "We'll talk about that later." #leadlap
A1: our culture is a family going through some changes. Most of them are good because we are building relationships and supporting one another. Our bad comes from adding new members and holding our futures together as we learn each other. #LeadLAP#culturematters
Howdy from Oklahoma! Carrie Renfro I have a big hat rack but my first hat is teacher:) Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. #LeadLap#edmodolove

Our culture is one that is based on trust and relationships. I attribute this to the teachers and admin team building trust. It led us to every teacher participating in Learning Walks (teachers visiting teachers)! Best PD ever. #LeadLap
Good morning ☕️☕️☕️☕️ #LeadLAP! Latoya, checking in from the beautiful state of South Carolina where the sun is shining and the skies are blue! I’m ed leader and ready to learn with all of you!
A1: a #cultureofyes exists where everyone takes risks, fails forward, and is not afraid to try something new—you see it modeled by admin which trickes down to Ts and Ss #leadlap
A1: Culture of people supporting one another and people appreciating one another. That really comes out each month when rockstar awards are presented from one colleague to another. It seems to keep going on its own. Also culture of staff supporting Ss. #LeadLAP
A1 In my school staff and students aren’t afraid to fail - I encourage them to try new things and if it doesn’t work the first time...you just try again. We support each other and are always looking for ways to make education fun an exciting @DynamicDuda338#wondertwins#LeadLAP
A1- my classroom culture is one of family and support. I know because Kinders speak their minds without filters! Our school had been changing in the last year. So much excitement and drive to do what’s best for kids! #LeadLAP
A1: The culture at my school is changing rapidly. Last year there was so much change and uncertainty, while now the vision is clearly established, expectations are set, and we're all rowing in the same direction #LeadLAP
A1: @kisdjre culture is one filled with excitement, acceptance, and creation. Our littles are sad to go on summer break - that's how we know we're doing something right. #LeadLAP#JRErocks
A1: We have an ALL IN culture @CentralCabotpK4. It is awesome that everyone is on board and moving the same direction. We call ourselves a tribe, and a family. #leadlap
A1: Our school is such a special place with the best people! You know how healthy your culture is by the actions of the people within your #CommUNITY. Our school has a people-first culture that values the human element in what we do! #LeadLAP#ProudPrincipal#FalconPride
Thank you so much!! Congrats to you Jay, your ideas are spreading and igniting passion and out-of-the-box thinking in tremendous ways! #LeadLAP#Path2Serendipity
Good morning #leadlap... Youth Speaker here... On a mission to inspire Students to fulfill their potential. I'm here to learn as I continue striving to fulfill mine. Nice meeting you all.
A1: I notice culture in the willingness people have to go above and beyond and to push themselves to learn and grow. Schools where people actively, willingly do this have a positive culture. #LeadLAP
A1: The culture at my school is changing rapidly. Last year there was so much change and uncertainty, while now the vision is clearly established, expectations are set, and we're all rowing in the same direction #LeadLAP
A1: The current culture in my school is not great. We had a big turnover, which isn't usual, so the Ss, Ts, and community are uneasy or upset. My classroom culture is usually good. How do I know? HS Ss are not afraid to tell me if I'm being "salty" for no reason! :) #LeadLAP
A1: Safe and caring. My students know that our classroom is like a family and we all take care of one another. With a lot of S/E needs in 2nd grade, we have a big focus on learning to be great people who are educated, not just educated people. #LeadLAP
A1: I work across 5 buildings as an admin, but I would say most importantly is student voice & choice; St have a say & this builds a culture where everyone is invested in learning #LeadLAP
A1: The culture in my building is VERY much that of a family, students and staff alike. Ts share in the responsibility of all students, not just our own classrooms so Ss know they can go to anyone in the building with issues or to be celebrated. #LeadLAP
A1) I think the culture of my classroom is strong because of the community we become. I make it a point to call us family & have students share with morning meeting. We might bicker but we grow together. When Ss feel comfortable to share highs and lows u know it’s good #LeadLAP
A1: Regardless of my role- I hope the culture I create is one of care, collaboration, trust and risk taking. I want others to know they are safe, valued and trusted in all they do. #leadlap
A1: As a reading specialist, I share an office a.k.a “coaching corner” with other coaches like @khoggardGRT. This year, we have tried to create a positive, growth mindset, innovative culture where risk taking is encouraged & mistakes are opportunities to learn. #leadLAP
A1) Ever developing. Got some new staff this year, some moved around. Excited to kick off a new year with some "fresh" ideas. Ready to challenge others and have others challenge me! #LeadLAP
A1: We are in the middle of a culture shift right now, with our P heading to another school and several new staff members coming on board. It's difficult for many staff, but I am always excited about change and challenge. #leadlap
A1- We have a culture of Caring, we have had a daily emphasis on making it Cool to Care. Care about our students, each other, and in turn our craft. It is part of every conversation. @ToddWhitaker#LeadLAP
A1: I hope I create a culture of growth with my teams and one that is dedicated to student learning, discovery, and maybe a bit of nerdiness. Also a culture of relationships, acceptance, and love/appreciation for each Ss unique abilities and contributions. #leadLAP
A1. I’m not in a school or classroom daily but here are 2 questions I think you can ask to determine the culture of your school/classroom:
1. Do students and staff enjoy school or dread it?
2. Is ther laughter, love, joy, AND learning happening daily?
#LeadLAP
A1: the culture in the district right now is exhausted, the staff has been struggling w initiative overload but we are working on that. We have done surveys, focus groups, climate audits, etc. so much great work to do but we don’t want to burn the staff out. #leadlap
A1: We have a "Come Sit By Me!" culture; I know that because we sit together on the sill and sing while we check emotional barometers and welcome every one who enters our building, every morning. https://t.co/FQ5mCUQwv7#leadlap
Thanks @BethHouf! Glad to be back. Trained and ran two half-marathons this spring on top of grad school and work so things have been a bit crazy! #LeadLAP#RunLAP
A1: Our school culture is all about everyone has genius, everyone is a leader, & we are POSITIVE. Not Pollyanna positive, but the kind of positive that moves us forward on our #PathtoGreatness. We'll do whatever it takes to move forward on that path together & for our Ss #LeadLAP
A1: Another sign of positive culture... People who look to themselves/there team to solve issues rather than making excuses or blaming others. #LeadLAP
A2: You don't accept mediocrity. You keep pushing for https://t.co/YUwuS3dxZP must "inspect what you expect". It's important for everyone to want to be better... shoot for greatness #LeadLAP#CultureMatters
A1: A positive school/class culture can be felt as soon as you walk in the door and be felt throughout the day.
You want one where everyone is yelling “NO! I don’t wanna go!” vs. “YES! Let’s get outta here!”
#LeadLAPhttps://t.co/Zb9kHInY1c
I completely agree with you! We see similar interactions in our school! I love the rockstar awards idea! Relationships, connections, and positive interactions drive our culture! Thanks for sharing! #LeadLAP#FalconPride
A1: Culture of people supporting one another and people appreciating one another. That really comes out each month when rockstar awards are presented from one colleague to another. It seems to keep going on its own. Also culture of staff supporting Ss. #LeadLAP
Our culture is in full bloom! We established our mission after having 12 new staff members. Everyone is excited & eager to learn & inspire ALL students. Been my best year as an admim!! #LeadLAP
I almost feel the opposite though. Dissent breeds innovation and positive change if we allow it #leadlap if positivity is highest value there is no room to disagree with status quo.
A2: By setting them for myself...I will never ask a student or staff member to do something I wouldn't do myself...In fact, most of the time, I go first!!
#LeadLAP
A1: Another sign of positive culture... People who look to themselves/there team to solve issues rather than making excuses or blaming others. #LeadLAP
A2: This is a question, I always have to think about. My thought process is that I want everyone to take something with them outside of the classroom. They can use daily, not something you do one day and forget the next. You have to apply your learning not just facts. #leadlap
A1: Our culture is caring and Green. We have a buddy bench and we just became a 2018 U.S. Dept. Of Ed. Green Ribbon School. My students are making a brochure to tell new students about our school. #LeadLAP
A2: This is an area I would like to work on for next year. It is so important to communicate high expectations. Looking forward to hearing everyone else's suggestions! #leadlap
A2: It is in how we treat each other. If respect is shown and greatness is expected in the adults, the students will see the importance and magic at work. #LeadLAP
A2) Model the expectations you want to see. Have staff do the same. You can't expect others to follow expectations if you aren't willing to show them what they are. #LeadLAP
A1: The small daily interactions are a great thermometer for the culture. Are smiles the norm? Do we greet each other with enthusiasm? Is there pep in our step in the beginning of the day? Do we really listen to each other? #LeadLAP#Path2Serendipity
For a culture that preaches inclusion, in these last two years, I will definitely be sure to make sure that no peer is silenced for holding different opinions than what my college generally believes #LeadLAP
This makes me feel better bc the staff definitely embrace the opportunities to learn and grow. They have gone above and beyond in everything we’ve asked of them this year. Thanks for the reminder. #LeadLAP
A1) Our school culture is def about flexibility and moving forward. I am super lucky we have an admin team that constantly wants to try new things. Pace can be fast though, as a new T, I had to be ok with catching my breath & doing what I could & not trying it all. #LeadLAP
Everything I know is a result of what I have learned from someone else. We need to continue to learn, grow, and SHARE to make our schools amazing! ❤️the idea of the #learn180 challenge @JayBilly2#tlap#leadlap#CultureMatters
A2: Having a goal for teachers and also students creates a focus on growth and not just a common achievement level. No one is on the same playing level - not teachers, not students. We must meet everyone where they are and take one step at a time, together, w/ support. #leadLAP
I try to model those high expectations. I will admit I am not perfect myself and I want staff and students to hold me accountable but the moment we lower expectations is the moment we stop growing. #LeadLAP
In reply to
@JayBilly2, @BethHouf, @burgess_shelley, @dbc_inc
A1 Culture is felt with all of the senses--yes even smelt. 😜
It's something you can feel with your "6th sense"--it's ever-present & you KNOW when it's a REAL good thing or a real bad one.
It doesn't just happen. One must intentionally create a positive culture. #LeadLAP
A1: My classroom is also about trust and relationships. This year the admin also on relationship building for the first 3 weeks of school #powerful#LeadLap#edmodolove
Our culture is one that is based on trust and relationships. I attribute this to the teachers and admin team building trust. It led us to every teacher participating in Learning Walks (teachers visiting teachers)! Best PD ever. #LeadLap
A2: Lead from the middle- model the way- show and have high expectations of yourself. Support and appreciate when you see it in others. Bring them into the leadership fold by building their capacity to share forward. It will grow like a snowball. #leadlap
A2. First and foremost-there is no greater sign of what you expect of others than your example. You can verbalize all the expectations in the world but ultimately your behavior sets the tone. Be the exception! Be the example! Be the leader! #LeadLAP
I wonder if we have a different definition of positive culture. Challenging the status quo, questioning the world, and joining hands to fix it... is a positive culture #LeadLAP
A2: Simple. I expect all Ss to achieve the top of the bar, and then I motivate, push, cajole, set aside time for, demand, sweat, tears, and encourage it out of them. If they fail? Lather, rinse, repeat. Same should go with Ts. Expect, demand, support. #LeadLAP
A2: When you LIVE your educator mantra, others will be encouraged to do the same. Like a ripple in the lake, the effects spread far. Thus creating a culture of high expectations for ourselves & one another. BELIEVE, SUPPORT, & have JOY for one another #LeadLAP#culturematters
A2: We first have to live up to the high expectations we have for each other. As a leader, every word and every step is watched carefully and says a thousand words about what you really expect from others. #LeadLAP#Path2Serendipity
A2: Everyone in the building/district needs to share a common expectation of all students...students are included in this expectation. Show S we are ALL there for them & in this together. We won't let them fall through the cracks. Success is expected & we will be there! #LeadLAP
A1: The “School Culture Typography” from @ToddWhitaker and @stevegruenert is a tool that schools can use to identify the collective perceived culture of the building. You must know what culture you have in order to build the one you desire. #LeadLAP
In reply to
@JayBilly2, @ToddWhitaker, @stevegruenert
A1: I haven't even stepped into my new school yet, but I can tell the culture is warm, welcoming, and friendly. Evidence: Staff and parents reaching out to me, social media posts and pics, what others tell me about the school when I mention it, etc. #leadlap
A2) I show my high expectations by believing in my SS, showing them what I know they are capable of, and holding them to it. I always remind them I know I sound mean but I see something that they might not see yet. The are more then they know #LeadLAP
A2: I share the expectations and never lower them, just so that they can be met. I provide necessary support and step out of the way so great things can be accomplished. It’s important for Ts & Ss to feel like you believe they can achieve anything. #leadLAP
In reply to
@JayBilly2, @BethHouf, @burgess_shelley, @dbc_inc
A2: I show high expectations by making sure everyone is in the same mindset of continuous betterment. It's important because excellence is possible and setting them high is a key component #LeadLAP
In reply to
@JayBilly2, @BethHouf, @burgess_shelley, @dbc_inc
A2: You have to model your expectations--every day. It is the only way to show your expectations & demonstrate that you value & practice them! Your connections, relationships, & interactions have to be priorities! You build capacity & gain respect through your actions! #LeadLAP
A2: Visibility helps kids and staff see that I am here to support, and also to sharpen the saw anyway I can. It also sharpens me by keeping me in learning mode all the time! #leadlap
A2: Show expectations by what you model...kindness, respect, willingness to learn and grow...As a leader you can’t ask for what you are not willing to work hard for yourself #LEADlap
#LeadLAP Love this one from #JFK I am Judy Blakeney, English, CTE, and Instructional Coach at Aliso Viejo Middle School in So Cal. Returning to the classroom next year! @AvmsFalcons
A2) I think you need to have high expectations because Ss need to know you believe in them and you want them to push themselves to be better. The lower the bar the easier it is and the less they learn #LeadLAP
A2: I believe that is shown through the rigor in the assessments and assignments that you do in the classroom. Also, I believing showing your Ss that you are confident in reaching those high expectations will help them feel the same for themselves #LeadLAP
A2: We -myself included- consistently plan how to grow & improve. I've already decided to start the next year with asking how can we push the bar. #LeadLAP#growthmindset
A2 Lead by example- I don’t ask any staff to do anything I wouldn’t do and instead work along side them as a TEAM. Students know we expect the best from them but we also let them know that the journey is more important than the end result. S’ trust us and know we care #LeadLaP
A1 A culture of wonder is what I like. "I wonder if we should try..." "I wonder why we do it that way..." I wonder if we changed this, what would happen..."🤔
#leadlap
A1: Often the perception of school culture can be either far better or far worse than reality. The School Culture Typography can help drill down into one of the 6 types of school culture. #LeadLAP
A2: I frequently ask if my Ss have put forth their best effort. Praise when they feel they have, and question why when they answer, 'no'. They almost always want to take their work back and make it better when they know it hasn't been their best effort. #LeadLAP
A2- we are establishing a mindset of “Average = Awkward” for our staff. We have Ts doing great things to get better and help our Ss. If you are not putting forth the effort, it is an awkward feeling among our Ts. This is part of our daily conversations. #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A2. Your title is not the example. Your behavior is. Far too often I’ve seen leaders who believe they can lead by their title and not their example. Your words must match your work. My mom always said, I can show you better than I can tell you. Behaviors trump words! #leadLAP
A2: we keep our high expectations at the forefront by making sure personal goals are tied to building goals which are tied to district goals, and all are connected to student learning & growth #leadlap
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
You can challenge the status quo in a positive culture- it’s all about how one sets up that culture. It is important to bring as many voices on board as possible. A positive culture of innovation sounds like a win-win! #leadlap
A2: Shoot for the moon myself. Think outside the box. Try the impossible..and then others catch the buzz and we're off on a winning race to learning #strengthbasedEDU ##LeadLAP
A2 I show high expectations of my Ss by not "dumbing things down". I may give different scaffolds or levels of support, but no matter the pathway, the target is the same. #leadlap
A1 The culture of my precious school was built on those who really took to heart relationships matter. Upbeat, kind, and genuine. Always room for improvement! #leadlap
A2: When you show students you expect great things from them, they will rise to the occasion. As teachers, we must model these expectations. Young eyes are always watching and young ears are always listening. #leadlap
A3: We have played truth or dare at staff meetings, We have shared our bucket list items in order to know each other better. We also have shared "1 thing no one knows about you" and then snow ball fight and guess who it is #LeadLAP#CutureMatters
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A2) At our school we focus on high standards in social situations. Ts model respect and encouragement to Ss with different needs. My typical Ss making best friends with their peers w/ special needs & go on to build clubs at their schools and lead on their campuses. #LeadLAP
The Admin Team agreed to co-teach this year now that we are in. 1:1 environment. It helped our culture. We shared our learning from Learning Walks in ASCD NY https://t.co/CCttF5yZin? #LeadLap
A2) Model the expectations you want to see. Have staff do the same. You can't expect others to follow expectations if you aren't willing to show them what they are. #LeadLAP
A3: As an instructional coach buildings relationships with Ss I carried candy, stamps, or stickers when I modeled in classes. I made a point to attend field trips too. #LeadLAP
A3: Games, socializing, authentic chats that aren't just icebreakers or end of year lulls. Relationships are constantly a focus, content takes the wayside. #LeadLAP
In reply to
@JayBilly2, @BethHouf, @burgess_shelley, @dbc_inc
A3) The #GoodNewsCallOfTheDay has been a game changer when creating positive relationships with students and families! Also, small things like 12 Days of Christmas, positive notes in Easter Eggs, food in the lounge...#LeadLAP
A3: I use Voxer for my daily feedback so that they hear my inflection and tone. I print and share articles for things they’re working on in their classroom. I offer to plan with them privately if needed. I build a lot of relationships after school by walking the building #leadLAP
#leadlap A2 Exemplifying it is the way I have found success. Implementation of high quality standards, processes, and workflows have set the tone for further improvement in the community.

A2: High expectations are important because they get the best out of students and staff. Help develop these expectations by modeling. You need to be willing to do what you want to see from others. #LeadLAP
A2: I start by having high expectations for myself and letting others see that. I then follow up with T's and S's on my expectations with them so we are the same page. I once told "you'll never reach high levels unless you set high expectations." #LeadLAP#culturematters

A2: Create relevant and meaningful experiences where Ss own their learning and have an opportunity to shine. Encourage, uplift, and let them know that you believe in them. #leadlap
#LeadLAP
I make a effort to greet every student , parent and teacher every day as they enter our space. That simple hello and brief conversations really make connections over time. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Effectively communicated expectations are essential! Releasing a teacher handbook packed with inspirations, resources and clear high expectations for the whole child! #leadlap
A3: It starts the moment they get out of the car door...greet 'em by name, smile at them, & tell them how happy I am to see them today!
As an elementary site admin, knowing the names of all your students is one of the most powerful ways to build lasting relationships!
#leadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: As an instructional coach building relationships w Ts, I make myself visible, give coupons for free class coverage, leave small bags of popcorn when I "pop in" to see them teach. #LeadLAP
A2: One of the most important things a leader can do to set high expectations for Ss & staff is to have a clear & inspiring vision. Dare to be UNrealistic! People aren't motivated by medicriocity. Right, @burgessdave? #LeadLAP
A3: I make sure to high 5 kids off of the bus. I sometimes join them in dance parties or I'll use the megaphone to announce them off the bus in the morning. I have kids in for lunch just to talk #LeadLAP#CultureMatters
A3 I give them my most valuable possession, TIME! I make sure to spend time listening to their stories and problems. I take time to check in with them. #leadlap
A2: It's all about letting kids know what's possible. On STAAR (Tx test) day, I cheered on a student "Get that perfect score today!" He asked if that's "a thing" and I told him about it and that he was fully capable of it. "Ok, I'm going for it!" #leadlap
A3: It seems so simple, yet so powerful- just be authentic. Get to know those in which you serve- listen, hear, act. Show up, build up, lead up. People want to know they are cared for and valued- prove it. #leadlap
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: This summer, I have been exchanging penpal communications with my students. A few have responded. I suspect more will follow. All have a SASE to me. #LeadLAP

A3: We have played truth or dare at staff meetings, We have shared our bucket list items in order to know each other better. We also have shared "1 thing no one knows about you" and then snow ball fight and guess who it is #LeadLAP#CutureMatters
A3: I also took some time to write cards to thank the spouses/parents of our staff members yesterday. They support so much and are def a part of our culture! #LeadLAP
A2 High expectations for all. If you set the bar low, students and staff will only do the bare minimum. To see amazing things happen as well as students fulfill their potentials, the bar has to be raised for all to succeed. #leadlap
A3: One of the most powerful things we can do is to know the names of our people--kids, staff, families, community members. Calling people by their name is a powerful way to connect and open the door for trust to come in. #leadlap
A3: I don’t know if this is unique but I build relationships through listening, caring, and responding to the ideas and concerns of others - students, staff, and parents #LEADlap
A2: You refrain from saying things like "everybody is replaceable." and instead showcase what they're doing as if they were NOT. Tell them that they're seeds and that they can do beautiful things. Nurture and love them BIG. #leadlap
A3. I believe building relationships is the root of all leadership. Establishing trust involves being sure there is a sense of authenticity in the relationship. Allow people to see your heart & even when you have to make tough decisions they will still respect you. #LeadLAP
And given our experiences, and being an extension of government in the public school system, “positivity” culture seems more the norm as opposed to the healthy positive culture you are describing #leadlap
I loved the challenge issued by @aaron_hogan to get to know things about the Ss the first week of school beyond basic info. We began the year with Ss sharing their own personal hero's journey #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: Being in 5 schools is difficult, but I work to be visible in classrooms every day. Daily conv with S & T are vital in building these relationships. Visit the lunchroom & playground to talk to S on their turf. Ask questions. Be there for T..it's my job to support them #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3) I build relationships by talking to Ss and staff. Finding out more about them, listening, and just being there. I love going to events outside the school and tying Ss interest into curriculum. They know when you listen and if you make a promise you keep it! #LeadLAP
A3: I start from the beginning of the year to build a very strong sense of classroom community with my Ss. We then spend the year sharing our interests, memories, anecdotes, jokes... They know they are valued, not just by me but my their classmates too. #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: lunch bunch is my favorite! We discuss any topics the Ss want to talk about. Sometimes we have sweet treats, but usually the treat is the “sweet conversations.” Ss want to share their dreams, fears, celebrations with people- we just have to be willing to listen. #leadLAP

A3: Building relationships is the most important thing we do! I make connections to our staff members, write personal notes to them, & acknowledge their life experiences. Our #FalconsCARE periods help Ss connect to adults with similar interests--one of my favorites! #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: Class meetings to talk about problems together, especially the drama that happens as we get closer to summer. All students must share something they're thankful for at the end of the meeting. #leadlap
The imprint of French President Emmanuel Macron's thumb can be seen across the back of Trump's hand after they shook hands at the G7. Great frame from @LeahMillis
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3 Nothing unique reallly, I have an open door policy for staff and students. Sometimes people just need to talk, S’s might have a bad day and they stop by and we talk till they fell better about the situation - could take minutes or hours but that’s what I’m there for #LeadLaP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A2- I tell my kiddos all the time I want their “best work”. We talk about what that looks like for them as individuals and the reason I expect their best is because I love them. #LeadLAP
I totally understand. That is where I have learned that fit matters. If stuck in a “status quo” culture & you are a “disruptor”- it’s a struggle all around. #leadlap
A3: With peers, usually I build relationships in classes or campus events. For professors, during office hours, and for staff, during events as well #LeadLAP

A3 This year I mashed up "REAL + #InnovatorsCompass" to build relationships. Hands down one of my favorite tools to guide conversations & help those I lead cannonball into new adventures. #LeadLAP
More to come in #REALedu in a couple of weeks.
*Original IC developed by @ElaBenUr
A3: I try to make time for everyone. It is important to have conversations but not just about school but about life as well to get to know someone. #LeadLAP
A3: I've been told that I am very "zen." My office and meetings provide an authentic, calm, safe space where transparent dialogue and connection flow. #LeadLAP#culturematters I look up to the wisdom from @BreneBrown@bobgoff@Oprah to name a few of my inspirers!
You can challenge the status quo in a positive culture- it’s all about how one sets up that culture. It is important to bring as many voices on board as possible. A positive culture of innovation sounds like a win-win! #leadlap
A3) I think it is important to keep relationships going. I love talking to Alums and when they visit going crazy and getting excited to see them. They know they are loved, never forgotten, and welcomed right back home again! #LeadLAP
A3: Intentional connecting. I try to set a goal of selecting a few people each day that I seek out. I connect with many more, but each day have those few that I plan to connect with. It fills my own bucket too. #leadlap
Checking out a bit early, about to hit the garage sales as I continue building my #pixelclassroom project. I'll see everyone later and @JayBilly2 thanks for writing Lead with Culture. #leadlap
A3 It's more than just showing up to concerts & sporting events (though that is important). It's the trust & care that's built by doing those things that needs to be carried over into day-to-day academics. #leadlap
A3: One of the coolest ways we build relationships w our staff over the summer is our #TMGenius#SummerSelfieChallenge. We get our new staff & families involved & it is a blast! #LeadLAP
12 years ago, @Rosie tried to warn us about Donald Trump. What did she get for it? She got 12 years of heinous attacks from Trump and she was castigated by Barbara Walters for speaking the truth.
A3: One of the best things we can do is try to develop that relationship BEFORE they hit our classrooms. Be in halls/at events/at stores/movies & get to know their names, talk with Ps. Then acknowledge them at school and PRACTICE their names. Names have POWER. #LeadLAP
A3) Coaching XC has been such a fun way to build relationships with Ss. Build memories and bond over challenging but rewarding runs! 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏾♂️ #LeadLAP
A3: This can be fairly simple. From saying hi in the hallways to supporting Ss through mentoring in 6th grade. I've never known so many names as a coach and signed so many yearbooks! #LeadLAP
A3: My Ss know that they can come to me at any time to share successes or failures - the media center is built around their voice. Informal time with Ts allows us to build relationships in a relaxed environment. Relationships are everything! #LeadLAP
A3: RELATIONSHIPS MATTER:
♥️For Students: I greet kids!Whether it be a hug, fist bump, doing bunny hop, limbo, conga line...I want them to be excited to come to school!
I also eat lunch with them & attend their extracurricular activities. Even TODAY during summer!
#LeadLAP
A3: something I have to be cognizant of as a central office admin. Being present & engaged in buildings & classrooms. Seeing Ts & Ss at their greatest moments learning together is my favorite way to know them professionally, then pairing that w knowing them personally #leadlap
A3: Relationships are two-sided. It's not just about getting them to share - it's about being willing to share. You can't build a relationship if you're not also comfortable opening up. #leadlap
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: One of the most powerful things we can do is to know the names of our people--kids, staff, families, community members. Calling people by their name is a powerful way to connect and open the door for trust to come in. #leadlap
A3: Greet them with a smile daily, be “present” and be intentional about getting to know your Ss. Here’s a post about how I begin school year building relationships. https://t.co/CERD2cXA8E#leadlap
A2: This year, I started seeking feedback from Ss and teachers. Reflecting on the feedback helped me grow professionally, and showed Ss and colleagues that I have the same high expectations for myself that I have for them. #LeadLAP
A3: I recently umpired a baseball game for some of my teacher's sons. Worked to build relationships with both the teachers and my students who played. I also love any chance I can eat lunch with them and play at recess. #LeadLAP#culturematters

Hey @burgessdave and @burgess_shelley this is that new stuff! Just dropped! Help this teacher join the fun!
"If you know what you are doing, you are not trying hard enough!"
#LeadLAP
A4: I'm starting at a new school this year and there seems to be a need to work on classroom behaviors. Re-reading new edition Discipline with Dignity and sharing with staff. And of course all things @dbc_inc for my reading https://t.co/a9Fc51EIHB#LeadLAP#CultureMatters
A3: I think connections outside of school are a huge part of this too. Following/talking to Ss on social media (within reason of course), going to their games, speaking to them at community events... They remember the smallest moments of interaction and thrive on that. #LeadLAP
In reply to
@JayBilly2, @BethHouf, @burgess_shelley, @dbc_inc
A3: Listening! Ss have so many stories to share and so much to tell about themselves every day. While we can't spend the whole day socializing, we fit it in with morning greetings and snack conversations and fun as a class. #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A3: Of course, everyone knows I am always up for a good dance party! We play music & dance w our Ss during arrival in the morning. That with high fives & fists bumps can go along way. #LeadLAP
A4: My learning goal is to discover how to bring the leader out in those around me. Reading and learning more about how to develop and encourage others to be leaders.
#LeadLAP
A3: Lunch with the kids is such fun. I pick random tables in the cafeteria, sit, & just start chatting it up. I also invite kids to have lunch with me in my office. Of course, playing with them at recess is also a blast. Just be there, in the moments, big and small. #leadlap

Acknowledgement with a correct name, even what you are not directly the teacher of particular Ss, is key. I'm still surprised at how often I don't here names being used by others. #LeadLAP
A3: Be a real person. Demonstrate vulnerability. There are two times this year that I choked up sharing gratitude for staff because of the support that I have had throughout the year both personally and professionally. #LeadLAP
A3 #leadlap I just try and keep things simple. Focus on facts. Practical stuff. Let them know I am always happy to collaborate. Listen often. Makes working in a large community easier.

A4) My learning goal this summer is creating a more positive kid and staff friendly culture. Invested in some reading material to help get me there! #LeadLAP

A1: The “School Culture Typography” from @ToddWhitaker and @stevegruenert is a tool that schools can use to identify the collective perceived culture of the building. You must know what culture you have in order to build the one you desire. #LeadLAP

A3- our Admin team committed to walk thorough observations this year, to have a better picture of our instruction. However, the student relationship building was overwhelming. It inspired us to do 1,800. Time well spent! #LeadLAP
Being present and visible is so important. One year, my students told me that they had no idea who the principal was and wouldn't recognize her if they saw her in the hallway. Fortunately, that changed the next year. #leadlap
A4: I will be attending a 2 day digital learning summit, a 2 day PBIS training, and reading my @dbc_inc treasure trove titles with all of my “free” time that I have now. I’m hoping to learn new strategies that I can share with my Ss and colleagues. #leadLAP

A4: I have the privilege of joining the trainers of our district’s Teacher Leader Institute. This group of leaders inspires me so much! I’ve gotten out of my bubble. Though I’m presenting this summer, I know I’m going to learn so much from these T leaders too! #leadLAP
And they get tickled the first few times I struggle to recall their name or mess it up slightly. They see me trying hard, and that's what matters. I do then...nail it! #LeadLAP
Thanks. Don’t always get the time I need to write as much as I desire. Trying to make it a daily thing even if it’s just a paragraph. I absolutely love it so I want to do more of it. #LeadLAP
A4: I am moving to a new school so my summer learning will be to get to know the community and make plans to learn and grow together (including some summer reading recommended by my #LEADlap PLN)
A4: My goal this summer is to really think about our school's systems. We have done so much incredible work over the last 2 yrs & need to get all the awesomeness systemized & efficient. Also amping up our onboarding process for new Ts. #LeadLAP
A4: This is the problem. There is not one goal, but about 30+ Most immediate is to reflect and dig myself out of tasks at home that have gotten away from me. Then reading, more running, and reflecting on how I can best support staff in our transitions next year. #LeadLAP
A4: Honestly I want to do more to improve school culture. That's why I was so eager to join this mornings #LeadLAP chat. I'm so thankful for the ideas being shared. Any ideas to combat empathy?
Behavior is huge. A large part of my role is coordinating RTI. I truly believe if you are able to shift the mindset...the stigma tied to behavior challenges, we'd all be better for it! The topic of social-emotional side of us gets my brain in a frenzy! #LeadLAP
A4. My learning goal this year is to develop a plan to implement all the great ideas I get from the universe. In other words - Master intentionality! #LeadLAP
A3: I love doing impromptu restorative circles right in the middle of the school yard to resolve conflicts. It's so important for students to be heard and to know that we care enough to take the time to listen. #leadlap
A4: I just finished my third year of teaching, so there is a lot to reflect on. Just a few of many topics: effective assessments, enhancing more technology, implementing more group/differentiation opportunities, & spiraling material after summative assessments #LeadLAP

A4: This summer, I will be working on my Master's degree. I hope to get everything done so I can be ready for my capstone next year. "Learning for Life" is the @OakHarborPS district motto and I take it to heart. #leadlap
Geographically we span 28000 km 4 u my American colleagues that’s about 17500 miles...presence n engagement are not always possible as often as we would like. Being at Graduations, open houses, and Christmas concerts (yes we still do) are a must! #LeadLAP
A3: I have a new ball, toy, game or weird conversation starter (the dollar store loves me) almost every day. Mobile icebreakers across campus...

A4: Focused on living a genuinely happy life in all aspects! Fueling my happy wagon so I’m geared up for serving Ts &Ss so All can live a happy life. #leadlap
A4. My learning goal this year is to develop a plan to implement all the great ideas I get from the universe. In other words - Master intentionality! #LeadLAP
A3: One way relationships are built with Ts is by seeking input and including them in decision making. Relationships with my Ss are built by greeting at the door, speaking to them in the hallways, and having conversations about their interests. #LeadLAP
HAHA! I found OneTab chrome extension. It can reduce all of my tabs into ONE, and saves them for me. I LOVE it. :) The music playing is annoying when it is mysteriously playing! #LeadLAP
A4: My learning goal this summer is to realign with myself and attune to the gifts and resources provided to me so I can serve others well. I am engaging in book studies & recently accepted to @HoustonBaptistU administrative cohort in @katyisd. #LeadLAP
#LeadLAP
Continue working on school culture and we have embraced the @PosProject this year which is a game changer. Now build that language with our families at home.
A4 I’m headed to a new district and program to help some pretty awesome students. I want to cultivate strengths and relationships from day 1 so I’m gathering ideas from chats and reading this summer. #leadlap
A4 Going to review units & lessons I've used over last 2 yrs to tweak & improve for Ss. For myself, I'd like to focus more on the ideas of teacher leadership. You don't need a title to lead, right @nbartley6 ? #leadlap
A4: Such a good question! My #oneword for 2018 was BALANCE; I am still working on this! We are moving to @Schoology in our district; I need to learn to utilize it better before our staff returns--I need to be able to use it if that is what we expect from our staff! #LeadLAP
A4: I need to get better at EVERYTHING!! We are a constant work in progress. I unfortunately need to get way better at navigating the politics I didn’t know were involved in education and systems. If I want to make a dent- this is needed. #leadlap
A4: Summer Goals:
1. Have my book ready to publish & share with the world!
2. Read my stack of @dbc_inc books and prepare for my new Tech Instructional Coach role.
3. Move into new house!
4. Prepare my first keynote to present at Make Learning Magical Summit in August. #leadlap
A4: Continue to find ways to identify priorities and take off of my plate things that don't align and be more present in the moment. Start preparing for my admin/C&I practicum this fall. Start reading for research! One more year of grad school to go! #LeadLAP
It's all your's, girl! We use it for silly and serious convos, they can tell pretty fast which is which. lol I loved it when they starting calling their own meetings with each other! #LeadLAP

A4: I have a stack of books (that just keeps growing!)
I also am taking both @jmattmiller Ditch that Textbook online course and an online course on utilizing @evernote#leadLAP

A4 My summer learning goal is to learn a jillion things in my new role. 😆☠️
I have SO much to learn and grow.

A5: I really have a passion and love for what I do. I can't stop talking about growth, getting better and sharing my ideas. I love what we do #LeadLAP#CultureMatters
A4: my learning goal this summer is focused on continuous school improvement. Trying to find a way to take all of the great work being done, the state reported SIP process, the individual imitiatives and create something systematic to connect all of this work efficiently #leadlap
A5: Being a multilingual ESL teacher and speaking the same languages that the kids speak. Hard to share that one though lol so I'll say... making connections. It comes naturally to me. I share it by modeling it day in and day out. #leadlap
A5: Superpower to listen, share, be present! @BreneBrown says that stories are data with a soul. I so believe this as I look at RTI data daily..these are REAL Ss not just stats. I want Ss to know they matter. Ts, you matter too. We all matter! #LeadLAP#culturematters
A1: The culture of the campus is very much about family but there is such a deep hesitation to adopt change or new things. The good is they want best for Ss the bad is many think traditionalism is how to do it. #LeadLAP
A3: Greet everyone by name, give out hugs, high-fives and handshakes, be visible, talk to kids and ask what they are learning and how they are doing. And listen, listen, listen. #leadlap
We jumped into @Schoology this year in our district. All loved it (Ts, Ss, parents) for communication & individual accountability. It also streamlined so many things. I did PD using @Schoology & got better involvement/learning. #LeadLAP

A5: My super power, which many share in this arena, is to see something, usually tech related, and immediately see an application for it with students and learning or staff and learning. My brain is great at connecting the ordinary dots with the extra dots. #LeadLAP

Hi! Just popping in-Becca, Inst. Coach K-5 San Diego area. A5: my "superpower" is being highly organized. Love sharing my obsession w/Ts by sharing @padlet@GoogleForEdu tricks, organizing bookmarks bar, & now @wakelet is my latest fave! #LeadLAP
Class meetings can go a long way to build empathy. Every one answers, "What is your biggest hope?" Then everyone shares, "What are you thankful for?" #leadlap
A5: My ‘superpowers’ are Caring and Positive Energy. I work to demonstrate these every day. Our work is challenging so I strive to stay focused on supporting and building up others #LEADlap

A5: Finding opportunities for leveraging student leaders and solution seeker. I am always looking for ways for students to lead in some of the work that we do and supporting others in finding solutions to challenges. #LeadLAP

A5: I'm not sure I ever thought I had a superpower, but I like to think that supporting our staff & students, making creative & thoughtful decisions, being conscious of people & treating them as PEOPLE 1st, extending grace, & modeling how #FalconsCARE would be strengths. #LeadLAP
Q6: It’s important that we model kindness and make it part of our curriculum. In what ways do you model kindness in your school and how do you get your students involved in kind acts? #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc

A5: Many of you have already said this. Making an intentional effort to talk to students every day, greet them by name, ask them questions about their interests, get involved in their interests. #leadlap

My superpower is reading things in people others don’t. Manifests in track record of putting people in the ‘right seats’ even though they or others initially buck it. Leader must have vision strong and sound enough to power through derision. #leadLAP
A5: We just got T-shirts that say "STEM is my Superpower." Really my superpower comes from the saying on our other T-shirts "Together we all succeed." Calendaring visits with all staff helps me build relationships. #leadlap
A6: First of all, just be kind. To everyone. And make it clear that you expect students to do the same. I once taught a class where kids would bring snacks for everyone for no reason other than to be nice. Have a zero tolerance policy for treating others badly. #leadlap

Q6: It’s important that we model kindness and make it part of our curriculum. In what ways do you model kindness in your school and how do you get your students involved in kind acts? #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A6: My students have watched me speak with our custodian, before class. I was actively listening to her story, gave her a hug, and told her how much we appreciate her. They ran up to hug her and tell her, "Thank you", too! #LeadLAP

A6: We started to develop and roll out our PBIS program that is rooted in our school-wide behavior promises- be safe, kind, responsible, brave and honest! #LeadLAP
A6: Spread kindness like confetti! You don't want it? Too bad! I think sometimes Ts can be too hard on themselves. We need to show kindness, give grace, and share our own stories. I'm digressing...#LeadLAP
A6 Start each day on a positive note. Greet, encourage, listen, and empower. I love random acts of kindness, thankful Thursday notes for others with my students, and instilling kindness one act at a time. #LeadLAP
A5 My superpower is being REAL with those within my realm of influence. I just bring the REAL me, and it's superpowerish. 😜💥
Relatable
Exposing a little vulnerability
Always approachable
Learning through Life

A6: Making the little things the big things. Noticing when a child stops to tie a friend's shoe...take a picture and share it to social media while thanking that child for being a good friend. #leadlap
A6: I always make a big deal when I notice Ss doing a kind act. I want them to know I notice what they're doing. @abby_lyon set up kindness clubs at our site during lunch, which has really been successful! #LeadLAP#SMETigerWay
Q6: It’s important that we model kindness and make it part of our curriculum. In what ways do you model kindness in your school and how do you get your students involved in kind acts? #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A6: Besides modeling kindness to Ss and staff, I work on the culture in my room to promote it, connected my HS mythology class this past year with @hmarrs24 's 3rd graders to exchange through pictures, videos, and a GHO how to be kind at school! Super fun! #LeadLAP
I’m a huge random acts of kindness person. If I find something or see something that reminds me of a person I gift it to them. I love getting kids to do them for each other, family and staff alike. There is something about making someone’s day that makes your heart glow #LeadLAP
A5: my super power is truly believing in the work I do, the organizational as a whole & most importantly believing in the people. I hope others see and feel that in all I do. Otherwise my super power just looked like running around like crazy working really hard #leadlap
A3: Currently I start by learning Ss names as fast and make personalized comments on work. Humor and intentional interaction are integral . Be involved enough to notice them as people. #LeadLAP
Q3: Relationships matter a lot. Share some unique ways that you build relationships with students and those you work with. #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A6: Kindness Coins get passed around school. When you witness an act of kindness, give the person a coin. It gets passed on to another when they see kindness. Ss now actively search for reasons to pass on coins. Goal's to spread them around the school, not collect them #LeadLAP
Q6: It’s important that we model kindness and make it part of our curriculum. In what ways do you model kindness in your school and how do you get your students involved in kind acts? #LeadLAP@BethHouf@burgess_shelley@dbc_inc
A6: Daily connection with staff and students to build strong relationships. For students I ask for their help with problem solving and making the school a better and kinder place #LEADlap
I am constantly letting people know that I love them. They know I mean it. I smile and always make time for them no matter how busy I am. #beproximate#LeadLAP
A6: Our #FalconsCARE projects involve community outreach interests for students & staff--#MiniTHON support, nursing home visits, local animal shelters, improving our school campus, etc. This has been an opportunity to teach & model how #KindnessMatters#CrestKidsCare#LeadLAP

A6: Not sure how to make this sound right...but I model kindness by confronting unkind practices. What we permit we promote, as @ToddWhitaker says! #LeadLAP
A6) I model kindness by listening and opening the floor for Ss to bring their ideas and thoughts. I’ve heard a lot of good, personal poetry that way, this year! #poetry#kindnessmatters#LeadLAP
A6: As StuCo sponsor I started having Ss do more service projects instead of just things for the school. I also do weekly kindness challenges with my own Ss and we reflect on what they chose to do. Making them more cognizant of kindness definitely gets the more involved. #LeadLAP

A6: kindness starts with the adults modeling it. We have ensure parents and staff have high expectations for themselves in modeling kindness and then hold students responsible for it #leadlap
A4 Late in the yr, I discovered that we had created a culture of “being funny is more valuable than kindness”. Insights earlier in the yr when sarcasm fed social status. My “solutions”: not effective. Goal: get help w/skills to put culture over curriculum. From day 1. #leadLAP
We all have the power to do something to bring positive change. I was inspired by a custodian that learned every Ss name & greeted them each morning. #LeadLAP

A6: I model how to be a good listener, collaborate, forgive & accept forgiveness, provide second chances. . . All things that help us move forward. We have written thank you letters, put up posters, sent videos to people. I encourage people to spread positive energy. #leadLAP

A6: We spread kindness by connecting with others—from global collaboration w/ @NowakRo where he read us a book about kindness to doing kindness acts for others like this—I model kindesss & say:
Do what makes your ♥️ happy. #LeadLAPhttps://t.co/CLaXlrRMxW
Kindness Rocks!
#KindnessWeek may be over, but the HaM kids are still spreading #Kindness around the world 🌍 with painted 🖌 rocks & kind messages!
Who will find our rocks?🤔 Who knows!🤷🏻♀️ We just hope to make someone's day "rock!"❤️@theKindnessrock@CyFairISD#KirkROAR
Being positive is so important to overall school culture & health. I've had colleagues refer to me as "Pollyanna" but it helps get through those hard days. Always a silver lining! #LeadLAP
A6b: Also be kind to Ss, if your school policy allows, by giving up the mindset that your room is YOUR room. It is the Ss room too. Open the doors, welcome them in as you work on last minute things before school or after. Let it be a safe haven for those who need it. #LeadLAP
A7: Oh goodness! There's no way I could pick just one thing! Through the power of my #PLN I have connected with amazing edus from across the globe, which breaks down walls for my Ss & makes the world feel more attainable! #LeadLAP
A3: We have a mentoring group of 5 boys that we start each day with. They put things into perspective for us every day and are part of my gratitude list. We learn as much from them as they do from us! #LeadLAP#mentoringmatters

A6 talked a lot of kindness in fall, but that wasn’t very effective. We jumped into service in spring, and it helped a lot. Next year, service lens from the start. #LeadLAP
A6. I realized a while ago that I try to model kindness by explaining things. If I have to say no, I explain the why. I don’t know if students notice this, but I want them to know the no wasn’t just automatic. #LeadLAP
A6 I send a #gratitudefirst email every morning. The first email is to one of my colleagues or PLN peeps telling them how much I heart them & their work.
I SMILE a lot! 😜
I bring coffee & fave snacks, etc to my pals. I mail them to PLN peeps, too.
I model it. #LeadLAP
For me it starts with them doing a potlatch project around thanksgiving/ Christmas where they make a gift for someone in class based on their interest &write an essay on why this person is special. Then Ts appreciation week they write letters to Ts who impacted them. #Leadlap
A6: the best way to model kindness is to presume positivity. So much of the drama, ill will, negativity & problems stem from miscommunication & misunderstandings that could be prevented by starting from the point of presuming positive intentions & seeking clarification #leadlap
Wasn’t quite the 25-sec gripper of their encounter during Trump's Bastille Day visit but
Macron left finger marks on tiny hand Trump (for real)
during what was no doubt an humiliating meeting for Trump at the G7 summit in Canada last night.
@EmmanuelMacron for the win!

We sing the "Hello Song," and say hi to each student sitting in a circle. If a new student joins our class in the middle of the yr, we do the hello song. Checkout @TheLazyTPodcast episode 29, starts at minute 19.

https://t.co/5yK6TRXaOo - they have this pay it forward idea, and Ss can document when and where they did what the card says. Things like put money in drink machine for next person, take a selfie with a stranger, etc. Just filter them for appropriateness. #LeadLAP

A7: During a recent #LeadLAP chat, I set a goal to try our next PD book as a Twitter chat & was asked "Why wait?!" So--we didn't. We did our first Twitter chat #CCMSChat. It was AWESOME! Best PD that I have done with our staff! Looking to expand it next year! #ProudPrincipal

A7: The power of the online #PLN is Ah-may-zing! I have learned sooo many things these past 2 years like:
* @dbc_inc exists & is fab!
* Share out what you know!
* Brain Science & EDU
* Snapchat to #BookSnaps -what?
* #Sketchnotes & #SketchnotesGO
To name a very few. #LeadLAP
A7: So many things I’ve learned and used from my PLN!
Super excited to use @TaraMartinEDU Innovator’s Compass idea in my new coaching role next year! #leadlap
A7: I've gotten some great ideas about personalized learning and elementary education. Very valuable as a high school teacher who has had limited experience with K-5. #leadlap

A7: I couldn’t just name one but any chance I have to just sit and talk and pick their brain I learn something. Maybe some sweet dance moves every now and then. #LeadLAP
A7: ‘Diversify your PLN’ was advice given 2 me. I pass it on now. Having educators AND non-educators in your PLN sharpens and strengthens you while de-mystifying is and ‘our world’ to those who sometimes have been wounded by it! #leadLAP
A7) @GambillJulie Shared with me a great practical template for helping Ss to feel less overwhelmed about the writing process thru PowerPoint. Was so excited! #LeadLAP

My Why...I don’t want any student to be forgotten. I want to make a connection with Ss that allows them to feel safe to learn and enjoy coming to school. I watched what bullies and lack of empathy did to my sister and I vowed to make education different #Leadlap
A7: I “found” @dbc_inc books, found the inspiration to try new ways to connect with others, participated in my first voxer book study for #letthemspeak, going to moderate my first twitter chat this summer, signed up for the #HiveSummit 🐝 later this summer. #leadLAP

A7. Part 2. Oh!oh! My biggest takeaway is you have to put some time into learning new things about education. You all inspire me to read , listen to podcasts, etc. #LeadLAP
A8: My Why: I want my Ss to know how much I believe in them. I want them to know there is so much more "out there" than what they see around them; to know they are loved, & take that with them when they leave me. I want them to believe they can do the impossible! #LeadLAP

A8: My WHY is simple...I just want to instill joy in others, help ppl be more present, encourage folks to leave things better than they found them. We are entrusted with such valuable talent & should use it to grow and love others deeply. #EverybodyAlways#LeadLAP#culturematters
I believe we all have a purpose and when we live our purpose not only do we benefit but those around us do too. I want to help others find their purpose and provide them opportunities to blossom #leadlap
A8: There's only one WHY for me. That one moment when I see the light go on, whether for a S or a T is so powerful. It has me in it's grip. I must do it again and again. See that light go on. See the learning happen. Magical! #LeadLAP
A8: My Why is helping others find and develop their possibilities. Reflecting people’s strengths and working to support them is the reason I love what I do #LEADlap
A8: I have a deep sense of purpose built around the power of education. I believe in the impossible & then, w others, go make it happen. Our Ss, our future, our world. 🌎#LeadLAP
A8: I am inspired by my students' growth in character and creativity. Most of all, their smiling faces inspire me to want to be my best self for them! #LeadLAP
