Hi hello! My name is Niya and I am a Special Education major at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina(: pretty excited for my first dojo chat! #dojochat
Hey all, while we wait for our friend @HankDenson to join us... let us know: how are you keeping students motivated all the way through until winter break? #dojochat
I'm with @HankDenson Pay the teachers more $!$$$$! Kids don't listen. I'm a middle school teacher. No they mostly don't. But when they do it's Like https://t.co/fB6M87rbvX#dojochat
As an instructional coach, I’ve been supporting teachers with exactly this. I’ve been sharing the use of @breakoutEDU games to review concepts students have explored. I’ve been sharing original games I’ve written too #dojochat
Yes! We love it! The kids do book talks on @Flipgrid among other things & we have pods in our classrooms to help give the Ss a spot to record from. #dojochat
Haha! I haven't wrapped them all yet! I am choosing a couple of students a day to earn getting their desk wrapped based on @ClassDojo points. I will update you when I am finished with how much I use 😉 #dojochat
I did it when I was in the classroom with my 5th graders. They chose the topics they wanted to talk about. It naturally evolved into their #geniushour projects. #dojochat
A3 I KNEW I was made to be a teacher when I was at SF state helping with teaching design to kids. I immediately set out to change my major from Design and Industry to Education #dojochat
#dojochat A3: I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I realized that there were kids in the world who did not think they had value. I instantly wanted to change that.
A3 I never had that "moment". It just kind of happened! A very supportive teacher got me pointed in the right direction. I was a bit of a lost soul. #dojochat

That’s it. As educators we have the privilege and pleasure of being the spark for young minds. A teacher did that for you and now it’s your turn for ALL your students - no matter where they end up. #dojochat

A4 um yeah. Walked through a really stinky fart last week and said beaver dam minus the beaver without thinking. One ss and my intern heard me. #dojochat
Things are going well. In my 3rd role as a Math & STEAM Coach and it’s gotten better AND at the same time, busier. Always so much to do as a coach - supporting teachers and district level stuff #dojochat
I remember vividly my 8th grade math teacher telling our class to "shut the hell up" However, I will say we were a very, very talkative group of students😂 #dojochat
Just discovering #dojochat! Wish I could stay and chat. Just wanted to say that @classdojo is awesome! Using it this year for the first time. Great tool of communication and tracking student social growth.

A5: Crazy parent story.. called to report kid was misbehaving, P came in with a short dog leash and proceeded to chase the child around the classroom trying to 'whoop' him with it. Never called THAT parent again! #dojochat
A5 Not sure if this was in defense of their child but a parent once told me their Kindergartner couldn't wipe his own butt and asked if I would do it for him. I think everyone knows what my answer was, LOL! #dojochat
Sometimes I get he/she must have seen/heard it from someone else. Doesn't matter how its learned whats important is to provide consequences to that unruly behavior & reinforce it should not be repeated. #teachyourkids#dojochat

THIS is a good question. Q7 because teachers are real people too! ❤️ #dojochat (Also, don't forget to include the hashtag so we see your responses @HankDenson 😉)
A7 We had a trainer come in and help us workout twice a week (THAT was awesome!) I also taught in wine country, so a little wine tasting and sunshine on the weekend never hurt either 😉 #dojochat
I was in 5th grade, loved every aspect of school, and knew I never wanted to leave. My hope was/is to instill an insatiable curiosity in my students so they never want to stop learning. #dojochat
I try to avoid NYC during the holidays, I do love the tree and the lights but it's so much. I'll wave to you from my apartment across the river lol 🙋🏻#dojochat

A8 I think what resonates with teachers is that you're a parent, you're being real and sharing your thoughts as a comedian AND parent. LOVE when parents volunteer and SEE the work, seeing is believing ❤️ #dojochat
A8 I don't think parents realize how much time and money we put in to our kids and classroom. I NEVER work less than 50 hours a week and that is just at school. It doesn't count evenings or weekends. #dojochat
This year! I don’t know if it’s fair, but I do know it is much appreciated. Every little bit helps and my daddy told me never to look a gift horse in the mouth. #dojochat
A5 #dojochat happened this weekend! 4th grade parent asked me what time I go by because last year student was on time and this year is always late...Had to explain we all go by the same school time. Student had mom convinced I was starting class on some mythical time! 🤔🤓🧐😆
A9 I may make mistakes under pressure, or my students may not be perfectly behaved 100% of the time, but they're learning & having fun EVERY day and I value each kiddo in my classroom #dojochat
#dojochat wow. that such a hard question! Honestly, for me I don't teach for recognition. So I don't mind if the world doesn't realize how hard I work. But maybe, just if you look at stats on how much time a teacher spends with ones child that brings some main thoughts to light.
A9 Trust me to do my job. I spent 5 years in college, two years getting a Master's Degree and have been in the classroom for more years that many first year teachers have been alive. I kind of know what I am doing. #dojochat
#dojochat A9 I was marked as sitting at my comp desk when my Admin walked in. I had just finished an awesome math lesson, kids were working hard & I added a Dojo skill--I swear I wasn't playing on my phone! 😂😂😂 But whatevs...I even put the skill on my growth mindset board...
A8) Show regularly what’s happening in the classroom, thru social media and other methods. But you’re really showing the results, not the work. #dojochat
A10 You should go to teacher conferences, in the midst of all the learning and companies trying to promote their newest THIS or THAT, we all need a good LAUGH! #dojochat
