Today's : What're your thoughts & experiences w/ LMS (Learning Mgmt System)? Benefits & drawbacks? https://t.co/0qdzuqLFwX
Oh wow! Ours changes as we start on different dates and snow days.
Goo morning everyone! Last week of school for the kiddos. 5 more days! David MS principal from VA here!
Hard to think about LMS after what happened in Orlando yesterday. I'm sure Ss will have questions for which there are few answers.
So true..I wonder if my young ones will know..
HS grad date is set. Unused snow days used elsewhere. It's all good. Same 180 days for Ss.
Good morning last day of classes today. Then 2 weeks is state testing. Almost done!
We have used as a sort of LMS. Am hearing that we are moving to Canvas from Moodle for professional learning.
With , there hasn't been tremendous buy-in w/my school so it has been hard to use w/media classes.
Join r GoogleCertification team! R goal for summer is 2 get r certification & support each other! Click here https://t.co/ZGCF5ibWc1
Good morning .
Brian, HS principal from Mass., hoping for a spam-free a.m.
I love our group name! :)
unfortunately doesn't look like that ! https://t.co/t3bkYUccCy

What is a learning management system?
We stand in solidarity and unity...striving for peace...as we reflect and pray for victims of violence. https://t.co/Ex4tenfkmx
Not too sure what the acronym LMS refers to. Showing my vulnerability...
Good morning Second to last Monday of 2015-16! Tempus fugit!
Good morning - last instructional day fro me & trying to get those ducks in a row. I'll be lurking but wanted to say 'Hi'
I love it when you speak Latin ! https://t.co/IAPKjT3BUG
Good morning Second to last Monday of 2015-16! Tempus fugit!
It's a platform to collaborate and share like edmodo, noodle
So glad was such a success!
Good morning, Brian. LMS...learning management system.
Thanks. Can Google Hangout be a LMS?
https://t.co/bklGUbfYLG
It's a platform to collaborate and share like edmodo, noodle
Stupid autocorrect... Moodle, not noodle, haha!
we had the same experience with My Big Campus (which I guess is disappearing soon) - we're going to try to go w/o
Love Google classroom as a way to assign things, especially to push out a template.
Wish it showed images in-line.
Learning Management System
:-)
Is it similar to google docs where everyone can write on the same page..sort of?
so exciting! One more session today with Coding Club - they booked it for end of yr celebration
We use Edmodo & have liked it. Making the move more to Google classrooms now.
Google classroom is perfect example
Thnaks to all my PLN for stepping up with LMS this morning.
The LMS promise of easier communication with parents and less work by eliminating progress reports, suckered us in ... 1/2
Reply 2: Canvas & D2L accommodate most plug-ins, calendar interface, and e-portfolios. Great options 4 educators
OK. We use google drive. We have google classroom but not enough training on it.
yess, classroom has become an invaluable tool in assigning & tracking Ss work. Game changer for me https://t.co/g7yoC8AznJ
Love Google classroom as a way to assign things, especially to push out a template.
Wish it showed images in-line.
I've used Edmodo schoology and Google classroom. Like Edmodo best because of the learning communities.
Began to use Google classroom this year. Looking for more widespread implementation in Sept.
I used a lot until Google Classroom came along.
Google classroom is a game changer. It keeps improving with age.
My daughters' high school uses canvas
Do you see GAFE as a LMS?
Also Schoology, Blackboard - not only paperless classroom but discussion boards, chat features, polling, etc
Just added my info. Excited to add this to my skill set!
Things like Google Classroom or Schoology
We just need more training. Feel like I am missing things it can do.
2/2 But now Ss are obsessed with number instead of the work/feedback/reflection cycle--it's all just "data" and *learning* suffers
Morning Dave, how goes the search ?
Agree - good classroom is great for pushing out assignments and it helps keep students organized https://t.co/zNlfvCh2xE
Love Google classroom as a way to assign things, especially to push out a template.
Wish it showed images in-line.
Now can be used with Classroom...new.
I tried setting it up before I left MA, but same... no one else knew how to use. Needs to be system wide https://t.co/YatHA8afVV
OK. We use google drive. We have google classroom but not enough training on it.
We should try to get a chat together or something in July?
Is this something I *should* know in elementary? Am I behind the curve?
we looked at that one to replace MBC - we're going to try GAFE since so many Ts, Ss using components anyway
love the name and the support! Getting started as soon as I finish up with students this week
GHO may work as plug-in for LMS but would not be a complete LMS.
Great idea. Maybe a Google hangout?
Now Microsoft is getting ready to debut its classroom this summer. I have a feeling we will be using it soon.
True. We all use google drive all the time. But not the full classroom. Ugh!
Good morning! Celebrating the last week of school, looking forward to ending the year strong
My board uses Desire 2 Learn for e-learning courses & some PD. They want us to use it with Ss too but I find it v. un-user friendly.
I would like training once I get hired. https://t.co/k5xknDo3cV
we looked at that one to replace MBC - we're going to try GAFE since so many Ts, Ss using components anyway
Google classroom sends out a template to students that they can them make their own. Also put it in the right folder
That would be great. Not assessable on my school account. Would need to create another (no big deal)
Interesting response which one do you use? (google classroom is pretty simple for Ss & not much "Data" for them to see)
I'm game as long as it is in the evening--teaching summer school.
did you see the student app from https://t.co/83Tv4xCqVj ?I am excited to start using this next year,bc it links w/GC
We are moving into google classroom slowly but that is about it for LMS
Google has chrome = cheaper computers..and it is free.
Well...I stand corrected. If is LMS, then I have it, and it rocks!
That's 1 of my favorite parts about GC-they listen 2 feedback & make changes accordingly
What I saw from our presentation looked very overwhelming to my 3rd graders. Need to learn more.
Now Chromebooks will have ability to use Android apps.
Good morning . Darn it, I overslept! I'll be reading this feed for sure!
I've used those - but never used the words Lms - I feel all grown up now
Thanks for a great Monday start. Is Friday r last day until fall?
hahahaha laughed out loud on that one!
Have a great day. Finals begin for us on Wednesday. Looking to finish strong and with the joy of Day #1.
Thanks everyone! Time to make some coffee--my cat wanted to make sure I didn't miss the chat this morning! https://t.co/QZSe3Gvyxh
no I haven't. Quick synopsis?
Smiling!!!
Don't grow up too much - not so much fun.
!
Google Classroom, Edmodo, Schoology are terrific IF classes have regular computer access or Ss have tech at home, not case for all
Cool! I use GC but have never used - will have to try!
take control by giving fewer grades and more written feedback, be open w/P &S about progress instead of numbers
Hi Tracy! How are you? https://t.co/0CA7xLvVBB
Good morning . Darn it, I overslept! I'll be reading this feed for sure!
The school supports Aspen, grading and LMS...we have Google Classroom, but that's on the DL, few know it or use it
Can you send the link to about the google training? Thanks.
yes again edtech equity is not to be presumed. If Ss don't have access no LMS is going to work https://t.co/KD9Ydh1imQ
Google Classroom, Edmodo, Schoology are terrific IF classes have regular computer access or Ss have tech at home, not case for all
I got that book, the 7th wish..the one that was banned. I cannot wait to read it.
Exactly. That's what I found with my 5th graders https://t.co/hkJye9VsWb
Google Classroom, Edmodo, Schoology are terrific IF classes have regular computer access or Ss have tech at home, not case for all
You need to find a "buddy" at school who wants to use it also. That's how I/We learned GC
cool. Now that I'm out of work I miss out on all sorts of new updates. Gonna be a steep learning curve when I get back
Does your school have a lab/media center computers where they can get on?
Have a great day, Friends.
I agree. Takes me 2-3 times as long to enter this information."Helicopter parents" check it bsessively, others barely ever.
Shame, classroom is a great tool got to kick your dinosaurs into first gear ! https://t.co/OJbqz52HYU
The school supports Aspen, grading and LMS...we have Google Classroom, but that's on the DL, few know it or use it
Yes, it could w some adaptation
Your 3rd graders could easily manage Classroom.Wish you were closer - you could be my GC Buddy!! :-)
You are on . You are always learning. Good luck on job search.
Same here, but our friends keep us rooted in the latest trends!👍 https://t.co/AV9lFgXOwD
cool. Now that I'm out of work I miss out on all sorts of new updates. Gonna be a steep learning curve when I get back
I'm great, how are you? Start of the last 2 weeks for me. What about you?
Could you give us a brief description of what it is Bonnie?
Still waiting for something to open up here. https://t.co/QLVhjtIIPT
I'm great, how are you? Start of the last 2 weeks for me. What about you?
Yes, but with 20 computers for classes of 32! Each lab shared by dozen teachers. Anyone can reserve library, but 100 Ts
I agree your third graders could probably pick up on Google classroom pretty quickly.
I wish I was closer to you as well and not just for GAFE! lol :)
We also have Aspen. Very curious to hear what others think of it...
thanks Veronica. I wish I was 10 years younger then I think I would have a better chance of getting hired
Wow! That is a nightmare! How often does your class get in?
Wow! Well I hope you have some good prospects and leads after your work this winter/spring!
2/2 important that the new scale doesn't translate to traditional grade until there is a meaningful improvement
Happy friends! Today's our last day w/ S's & I'm not even going 2B there! Minor surgery on Fri-staying home today
Same... https://t.co/kZRtyagafI
thanks Veronica. I wish I was 10 years younger then I think I would have a better chance of getting hired
How far are you willing to travel?
Hope your feeling well! https://t.co/0ROSj2IzgX
Happy friends! Today's our last day w/ S's & I'm not even going 2B there! Minor surgery on Fri-staying home today
links Google classroom to calendar & creates an agenda in Ss smartphone w/links to assignments
We were in similar situation. They wanted us to try GC-I said I couldn't unless each S had device=got CHromebooks
oops! I was answering a different question there 😬
I'm doing well just forget that I'm not 20, errr 30, errrr 40 anymore. Don't bounce back as quickly as I used to!
Nice! Our district is moving toward 1:1 (2020 goal). It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Budget wasn't fully funded,so not sure how many openings there will b.Waiting for principal interviews now🙏 https://t.co/k4GPmJEAVh
major bummer. Any leads for you?
I think that's one of the newer functions in GC-not sure it creates an agenda though
good luck! I know you have a lot to add to any school! You should mention - that should be an instant hire.
I hear you! I had surgery last summer and it took me a good 2-3 months before I was back to 100% 😱 https://t.co/aDNxY2mgCA
I'm doing well just forget that I'm not 20, errr 30, errrr 40 anymore. Don't bounce back as quickly as I used to!
I think this student view might be easier to navigate. If you check it out let me know what you think
I know we are trying to head in that direction. Right now my S's are 1:1 in my classroom but devices don't go home
Thanks, same to you! Are you in Boston? https://t.co/FbbdCiynlb
good luck! I know you have a lot to add to any school! You should mention - that should be an instant hire.
I'm just trying 2 stay positive & be kind to my body. I've put it through a lot over the years! Time for some TLC!
zero right now. Last week I applied to about 15 schools on schoolspring
I've got the tab open and will sign up this morning so I can try it out!
How do you use google classroom with Edmodo? We use both for difft things - would love to merge them
just announced. On my list to learn by playing.
Thanks. Good to know. I'll play around with it too.
today: What're your thoughts & experiences w/ LMS (Learning Mgmt System)? Benefits & drawbacks? https://t.co/iLqin12oVt
Good morning old friends. My new routine will get me here now.
Most LMSs are more robust than a couple of years ago and that training for students, teachers, & parents key
Good morning CST! Cathy, edtech specialist in NYC, joining you from my last week of commuting until Sept.
Our school uses (formerly ). The product is beautiful, but kind of clunky IMHO
We have not had a complete Learning Management System within place.
Good morning, the Greg! look who's here! Great to see you!
I don't like clunky.
https://t.co/YeAQeRWst5
Our school uses (formerly ). The product is beautiful, but kind of clunky IMHO
The idea behind a LMS is good as long as it is still flexible enough for teachers to adjust and incorporate other resources.
BTW... good morning CST edition
I don't either. Add-ons, seem to be developed w/o considering UX- different looks, not intuitive
Good morning . Steve from NJ. I use desire2learn for online classes I teach. Like all, has its pluses and minuses
When it doesn't simplify either student or teacher workflow, then why have it!
Great to be back. Howdy to you both.
My hands down favorite is choice / quest based LMS
Blackboard has always been awful. I refuse to use it.
An LMS should be seamless to on-board, and easy for the community to integrate into their daily lives.
Used to use moodle extensively. Now moved more to . Great for ease of use / GAFE integration etc
I'm a big fan of Google Classroom. https://t.co/yz1MGuPGSA
Used to use moodle extensively. Now moved more to . Great for ease of use / GAFE integration etc
Any LMS nowadays better have Google Integration built in. Ideally, gradebook integration as well. Work to personalize instruction
Lots of barriers. Want a feature, need to pay
Have a fabulous Monday everyone!
. Hey there! Wondering what the plan is for this summer? Have you decided?
topic: What're your thoughts & experiences w/ LMS (Learning Mgmt System)? Benefits & drawbacks? https://t.co/qIGYgDR22Q
Good morning chatters! Steve from NJ checking in
Benefit of LMS: Collect work electronically / create feedback loop with students- great for sake of organization/paperless classroom
Happy Monday, Garden State ice breaker & :)
My LMS life: carts scrambled before horses. Infinite Campus 4 online district gradebook; Edline 4 school portal; GAFE as tool 4 Ts
LMS as tool/mouthpiece/ conduit? Up to users to employ effectively to streamline/amplify/point communication for optimal impact.
I real like I have found it extremely useful and wish I was available in more K-12 environment.
A good LMS can increase engagement & add another layer to learning. LMS should be in place for all professional development
Yes I like face to face, but I can focus virtually with LMS. I like bigger conferences for formal education meetings.
as a person in I have wondered how I can get my students or possibly parents involved in LMS.
Today's - What're your thoughts & experiences w/ LMS (Learning Mgmt System)? Benefits & drawbacks? https://t.co/vYorhxuJjI
Can these systems can be modified for use out of class/school level - as knowledge management tool?
Ours is very binding, & not user friendly. Doesn't allow for live collab. Ss w/o access at home LMS can create bigger digital divide
July will likely be a combo of a few weeks off & some slow chats. What're you thinking? Any ideas or recommendations?
Yay!! We're also meeting Sunday after the opening keynote as well! Will you be there, Veronica? https://t.co/LK3oA5Bju4
I worry a lot about the way Ts/schools use the LMS without consideration for digital divide & ensuring access & equity.
that is definitely an issue here that is overlooked. Our LMS just upgraded so you can use it on a smart phone...smh
I would love to keep the convo going through the summer for all of us 12 month-ers.
Odd order of priorities sometimes: Choose & rollout LMS before addressing access, equity, even lower-level Maslow's.
Thx for the input! Have you been finding the convos are good? Are less people chatting? I'd love your insight!
exactly!!!! 100% exactly right and what makes it so wrong for Ss as well as putting Ts in a no win situation too.
Makes me wonder how we involve Ts, families, Ss in sharing that feedback & pointing out the difference in needs. hmm
Can you say more? I actively work to do something-same as I do something about Ss not having food or coats.
