Thank you for joining our introduction to the new book study this week. The chat has been amazing. Look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks. #OrEdChat@TaraMartinEDU#RealEDU
A5: My little yellow notebook (figuratively speaking):
*explain your thinking
*take time to be present when Ss tell me their stories
*attend their extracurricular events
*greet them in the halls daily

A5 If I initiate a conversation then I am committed to be present and truly listen. If I need to better understand someone I will often ask them to tell me more. #OrEdChat#REALedu
Q5. What is your Little Yellow book strategy to recognize the individuality of those you serve? What are your go-to phrases to better understand another's perspective? #OrEdChat@TaraMartinEDU#RealEDU
A4: So many students. Just listening, letting them know they matter and their voice is valued. Giving choice. Giving grace. Sharing how practicing gratitude is so effective at taking away stress. #OrEdChat
A3 #OrEdchat RealEdu I don’t have a formalized bucket list, but throughout the year we discuss ?s like where we would travel, our goals for the year... I want to use “What seems impossible but you really want to try it anyway?” from the book. It will spark great conversations.
Q3. Do you have a bucket list you can share with students? What are some of the items you would like to share with them? #OrEdChat@TaraMartinEDU#RealEDU
@KathiSueSummers —thanks for hosting a Be REAL #OrEdChat, tonight!

A4: I give them time, love, and a safe place when #students need positive rewiring. I try to find them during lunch, open up my class before or after school, and let them know I care at the very least. #OrEdChat
A5 I'm really working on being more objective and when judgement creeps in (about my work, about my students, about slow drivers in front of me) I say, oh there's a judgement...(but without judgement...just observation.) #oredchat
#oredchat will be off next week for the holiday but we will return on Sunday, December 30th at 8pm PST for our next #bereal book chat!! Check out the schedule below for reading and let me know if you would like to moderate!!
A5: I ask a lot of questions and I listen to the answers. I try my best to remember and check in with more questions. This year I tried something called DNA where I interviewed each Ss about their Dreams, Needs & Abilities and posted the info on a bulletin board.#OrEdChat

Go to soccer and BBX games, gymnastic meets, and wrestling matches. Ask about their pet bird, puppy and baby brother. Give hugs, high fives and really listen to their show & tell and ask questions. And more.
A4 #OrEdChat#RealEDU Making a point to intentionally connect with them often is important. I eat with my kids & this provides an excellent avenue to invest in relationships, but I also try to connect with Ss who are not in my class as well because they need it too!
Q4. Do you know of a student who needs rewiring? In what ways will you spark the wildfire of positivity to form a web of determination with the mind of this child? #OrEdChat@TaraMartinEDU#RealEDU
Hi there, I having been working through the examples in this website by Slyvia -- it might be helpful? https://t.co/brPO9ZTf21 -- scroll down to the bottom and she has ideas to start creating an sketch library. :) #OrEdChat

A5 #OrEdChat#RealEdu Take the time to connect with each of your students. Again, I eat lunch with them, go to sports games, watch recitals, chat with them on the playground. My students matter to me & I need to take the time to show them I care
