I think I would want people to know that we are trained to do what we do. We see the whole picture and how the individual pieces fit. We have a vision that noneducators just cannot have. #bfc530

Educators work longer hours and spend far more of their own money than people will ever know. Some sacrifice time for themselves so Ss learn, feel loved and supported. It’s definitely not a 10 month job. It’s a lifetime career. #bfc530
GM friends. We will observe 9/11 in our school, but none of my MS students were alive for 9/11. To them it’s a historical event. To me it’s an event I’ll never forget as I watched live on TV that day. #bfc530
Its an ongoing battle. I want non educators to recognize the hours we put in not only planning and grading but bettering ourselves for the classroom. #bfc530
The enormous amount of time and personal expense many educators put in above and beyond their contractual obligations to try to ensure students are getting their needs, which span many grade levels, are met. #bfc530
I'd like people to know that teachers teach because they truly love the job, love the subject, love the kids. No one's teaching for the paycheck and we definitely don't get summers off. #bfc530

I guess I want to share that many who may see themselves as “non-educators” are actually very important educators...parents, grandparents, friends of our students...they help teach about the realities of real life, daily! #bfc530
I would like for them to know that we take our students with us wherever we go. Former students pop into our thoughts and current students shape our days beyond the lesson plan. #bfc530

Our work is changing so fast that no one in education is doing the same job they did 5 years ago, or even 1 year ago. The amount of time educators spend in Professional Development to keep current and meet kids’ ever-changing needs is mind-blowing & inspiring. #bfc530

Hey, #bfc530! I wish non educators knew that teaching is deeply challenging, even when kids are totally ready to learn and the teacher is highly skilled—but our kids are almost always carrying much more in their backpacks than books.
I want non-educators to know that "discovery math" is not a real teaching strategy. Ts don't expect Ss to just discover Mathematical principles themselves.
We facilitate carefully orchestrated investigations that allow Ss to draw conclusions.

It's harder than it looks.
Juggling 30 teenage personalities in 1 room while enforcing school rules, building classroom culture & executing an engaging lesson that helps them become college/career/citizen ready is harder than it looks.
