Hi Jessica!! Congrats to you!!
A big hello and welcome to you. Glad you're here!!
Hi, 2nd gr from CA. Did this chat just start?
A1:I LOVE observing teachers whenever I can.Professors in Social Science dept at my University refer teachers to me and I email them
Once a month we do informal walk throughs and also have a pineapple board inviting others into class to observe lesson
Awesome!! So the process works well for you? or could it be better? https://t.co/dPCagDVZaE

A1 In my pre-stu teaching, social studies was in a diff. room every week. Great chance for feedback from Ts in the same grade level
A1: Do you mean observations so that teachers can watch other exemplary teachers in action, or admin. observations?
Jimmy! How awesome to have you join us! Thanks for this insight. LOVE me those Pineapple charts! https://t.co/hqcTkCK0kO

Wow! That is really wonderful! You have great opportunities to see many options. https://t.co/B3aoLsGEfC

I think it works well because there is a sense of community between the University and local districts. Always accommodating.
What's a pineapple board?
Where can I see the questions?
Good question! Either one...how is that process in your world?
Q2: What could we do to make teachers more comfortable with the observation process? Thoughts? https://t.co/Vg0hJq3kCc
thank you! newbie issues.
A2: For the host teachers to allow observers to be involved in activities. I have had teachers do that and others who have not.
A2: Create an environment and positive relationship w/ observing admin to encourage risk taking and "failing forward."
A2: As a principal...my teachers went into a panic at observation time. I worked to ease this by having casual drop ins first!
Oh yes!! This is such a good idea. I too used this process as a principal. https://t.co/bKMZFTdPmR
A2: have the staff participate in ongoing, meaningful peer observations as well. This all goes towards building a c… https://t.co/PE8Nt0uyzV
A2: Encouraging informal peer observations can help Ts become more comfortable so formal observations can be less intimidating.
Not enough of either one. The few times I've gotten to watch others, was years ago. Ts have come to see me too.
Yes...so having teachers open to being observed like shares is key! ( )
Wow, that's a great point! I should ask if they can provide that next time I go observe. Thanks :)
Awe...so there is a need for you to do this. I never got to observe experienced Ts as a new teacher. It was so sad.
A1: We embed observation in PD for new & veteran Ts. We embrace growth mindset & know observation = Ts learning from Ts!
love that you want to be involved for lesson and keeping focus on helping Ss.
A2: my principal comes into my room unannounced almost daily for a quick walk through. We all become so used to her presence!
A2: The more we open our doors and let people in, the better we become as teachers! This is key to our growth!
Ts need to understand not just how and when obs occur but most importantly why they occur. It can't just be obs for the sake of obs
Woot!! Amen I love that! https://t.co/UdLHEzKGeC
A2: my principal comes into my room unannounced almost daily for a quick walk through. We all become so used to her presence!
A2: If Ts or admin. wrote 3-5?s on their walkthroughs to be discussed later, that could provide feedback & start a conversation.
Agreed and thanks so much for sharing that! This is key and helps to support our profession.
I'm gonna keep this idea in the back of my head!!
Such a great idea! https://t.co/2bS4amj2vZ
A2: If Ts or admin. wrote 3-5?s on their walkthroughs to be discussed later, that could provide feedback & start a conversation.
I'm not new, but still only got to observe other Ts 2x when I was & 1x later when I requested it.
I get it! Wow...such a loss of time that could go into supporting collaboration.
LOVE!! Ohhh you just got to our last Q4. it will be up in a bit! ;) https://t.co/wJnNhytZqm
I just sent 2 emails to 2 Ts I obs today. I indicate some highlights and ask them 2 reflective Q's that relate to t… https://t.co/J92dNOHyc3
A3: love idea of written points for discussion after obs. Helpful to look back and see how far you've come as well
A3: As a pre-service teacher, I let the students know when I will be observed, seems to help their behavior somehow!
A3:I haven't taught in my own classroom yet, but when I do I would center the lesson around the observer to create a diff experience
A2: Involve Ts in establishing "look fors" and use data not judgements to drive follow-up convos. Love the new trend!
Awe...interesting. Great to know that you do include them on the process. :) https://t.co/8Y5HribXk7

Interesting...tell me more. :) https://t.co/WTs5foCOHf
A3:I haven't taught in my own classroom yet, but when I do I would center the lesson around the observer to create a diff experience
A3: I include students in announced observes. It's their time to shine and show what they know! I like the feedback from them!
Amen I love it!! Thanks for popping in to share!! https://t.co/Bq8LSiTSIB
A2: Involve Ts in establishing "look fors" and use data not judgements to drive follow-up convos. Love the new trend!
A3 I think it could be beneficial to include students...their time and teacher's time to shine
I plan to do a lot of project based learning lessons and somehow incorporating the observer in the student group work
Ohhh...ok that sounds awesome. What a great idea!!
My kinders were active to begin with, but they were SO well behaved when I was being observed!
