The #educoach hashtag is used by instructional coaches around the world. We chat each Wednesday at 8pm CST on Twitter and use the hashtag throughout the week to share resources, ask questions and collaborate with instructional coaches.
Good evening #educoach. I'm Kathy from Iowa. My success was resting on today's snow day after a busy weekend taking care of my dad. I'm taking a back seat tonight. @realAllisonW & @IAteacherNan will be tonight's moderators!
Allison, IC from SC. Excited to be here tonight! I had an awesome time collaborating with and learning from other ICs at our district meeting yesterday! Looking forward to a great chat tonight & learning tonight! #EDUcoach
Can I hang out? With #educoach ? I’m in a small rural district where I’ve appointed myself mentor and coach without being asked 😂 I’d like the real job one day
Right now we are celebrating the strengths of the Ss and discussing their next important learning that needs to occur -- and how we can foster that! #educoach
In Remona from SC, a district coach for Induction. My week's success has been seeing a new teacher internalize the elements of quality teaching through her classroom practices. #educoach
A1: my best tip is to develop relationships with teachers that foster trust. Let them see that you work shoulder-to-shoulder, with no judgement or evaluation. #educoach
A1. I think that it is so important for new coaches to have a support system. When I left the CR, I found that that this role is so rewarding but isolating, in a school where you might be the only one. A support system is key, as we know! #educoach

As a T who wants to transition to a coach, I wish more coaches would see what’s working for us and build new ideas into that. I’ve seen some coaches who have been critical and undermining #educoach
A1 Also - develop the culture of coaching together - don't just hand something down to teachers. Help them feel like they are a part of the process of cultivating reflection. #educoach
A2 Twitter, Twitter, Twitter. This chat has been taking place for 6-7 years. I have lost track. It is a great way to stay connected and learn with and from fellow #educoach peeps.

I'm from Iowa. We have a famous movie - The Field of Dreams. I always say - Instead of Building it together and they will come ... try Build it TOGETHER and they will stay. #educoach
I’m a fan of spreadsheets to track data. And if the spreadsheet is collaborative even better. It’s important to see the results of coaching or strategy suggestions #educoach
Then I’m not sure if they were a coach or that was the title. Sometimes personalities take over—but sounds like you are ina. Position to lead and and inspire other educators! #educoach
She did. Her principal sent an email with pictures of evidence. I'm so proud of her and will let her know soon. Patience, persistence, and support always pay off #educoach
Coaching is a special skill. Often coaches get short amounts of training (or none at all) and are expected to do the job. Coaches need coaches of their own. #educoach
A3 This is directly about scheduling but I found it more efficient to have a variety of folks across grade levels as the ready to support colleagues. #educoach
Q3: I love https://t.co/BxbZ3lI6mQ - links to google calendar and shows open/busy times, them automatically adds events to my calendar as people 'book me':) #educoach
I'll second that -- coaches need coaches! Especially when a coaching position is newly launched in a school -- it can be stressful and lonely. #educoach

A4 Here is one little tip/strategy on strengthening relationships. https://t.co/4OSX0xiuxI - Of course there are many other things you can do. Just one little idea. #educoach
A4: Hallway chats -- getting to know about Ts hobbies, family, as well as their classroom, lets them know you care. And some coaching takes place in the hallway, too! #educoach
A2: I use @outlook for surveys, feedback, and communication. I also download the forms & protocols from @TheNSRF to support me in growing processes for teachers #educoach
A1 on-going communication, aligned goals, and established, lived agreements! The coach-principal relationship is essential to an authentic learning community that values teachers and students. #educoach
A5: Also -- working together with the building principal to enhance instruction and help all students succeed. Team work, just as coaching a T is team work. #educoach
Q3: I serve n multiple roles. I plan ahead, share dates & times w. new Ts during the summer for pd for the yr, use outlook and an @ErinCondren planner. I also communicate w. other district consultants who support my work. Compromise, flexibility & professionalism r key #educoach

I do love them, but I hate the cost. I ended up getting a Karma Planner this year because it's like a #bujo and a planner at the same time. I can #sketchnote my books in them. It makes me happy! #educoach

A6: Set a goal and discuss expectations up front (how often will you meet to plan and when; how often will you support in classroom and when) #educoach
There are so many planners out there. I tend to use more of a bullet journal. I do have a free coaching organizer for people when they sign up for my newsletter. https://t.co/qEvAPxtCYL#educoach (Sign up is on home page towards the middle)

A6. Coaching Cycles is a growth area for me. I’ve grown by specifically setting some actions and focusing in on the importance of the cycle in its entirety. #educoach
You can look on instagra with the #bujo or #bulletjournal hashtag and find some great ideas. You just need to make it realistic for you. It can be really time consuming if you try to do too much with your "spreads". #educoach

I agree, it is a growth area for me, too. I had to find my 'marigold' and told them up front the cycle was as much for ME to learn as it was for them:) Great to get feedback from those you've worked with to improve your cycles. #educoach
A6: My #educoach Oscar goes to the teachers that move out of their comfort zones & make time to partner with me. My tip is to expect every cycle to be unique. Focus on the goal and remember it's a journey. #flexibility#alwayslearning
Really!? It's hard to find the spiral. That's why I got the Karma Planner. I used a Passion Planner before that. Would still if they had a spiral. @passion_planner#educoach

A7: Know when to save it for tomorrow. Also, read @thezenteacher he also just came out with a new book #sanctuaries as well. It's a good reminder for all educators! @dbc_inc#educoach
I also have to mention @TaraMartinEDU book #REALedu She was a coach and is now an administrator. Such an inspiring story with great tips for relationships and coaching. I seriously LOVE this book! #educoach
A7: To relieve my own stress I spend time outside with my family. We raise cattle and there's always something to do! Even with the cold weather, there's nothing better than seeing a new baby calf:) #educoach#cattletales
Q9 Who is the person who has helped you grow as an #educoach this past year. If on Twitter - give them a shout out! If not on Twitter - make sure you find a way to thank them. My #educoach Oscar goes to….
I think it depends on what type of learner you are. If I don't write it down, I won't remember it. If I draw a picture to go with it, it's even better for me. #educoach

A9: My coaching tribe -- as we meet monthly with our administrator and study professional texts on coaching. And just "gab" as we share our highs and lows. #educoach
