A1 #seesawchat I'm the director of technology @casadyschoolokc in Oklahoma City. We are a PreK-12 school with 900 students. All our teachers in grades PreK through 5th grade use Seesaw learning journals. We love staying connected with our parents via @seesaw!
A2: having a “showcase” folder helps student select their beat work to showcase at conferences. It’s also a great way to share and highlight their best work in class. #seesawchat
#seesawchat I organize my folders by subject areas. Within each subject area, I create more folders to go with particular strands. If I want to show Math-Distributive property, for example, I can just go to that folder.
A2 #seesawchat I create folders by project and the unit we are studying. Skills like spelling, writing, and fluency also have their own folders. This way I can search for specific student projects within folders I want to highlight and show parents during conferences.

A2: We had a “Goals for the Year” folder and a “WOW Work!” folder for students to add work to throughout the year. During conference time it was easy to head right there to share with families. #seesawchat
A2: I love using the private teacher folder to hide things for students to share during conferences. That way the kids have something new to show. #seesawchat
#seesawchat I'm considering using a special folder which students can use, when they have a specific project they are particularly proud of and want to share with their parents. "Showcase" could work for this?
A3 #seesawchat I like to share @seesaw projects on our hallway bulletin board that are visual, and especially our media projects. Last year we created eBooks with @BookCreatorApp and students did animal research. These are linked on https://t.co/UX4Bg3GxBP
A3 We have a Family STEM Night at our school so I love to showcase some of the STEM projects we have worked on thus far in the year. I am curious to how others educate parents on how to access the display. #seesawchat

A3 One example is each student’s artwork was on the wall with a QR code. When the QR code was scanned, you could hear recorded information about his/her piece—artist inspiration, how the piece was created... (Voice was recorded on top of the artwork.) #seesawchat
Hello everyone! My name is George from the American School of Asuncion where I am the Tech Director but also a Tech Integrationist and HS Tech Teacher. Looking forward to participating in this chat! #seesawchat
A2: I use folders to organize student work by subject. At the end of the year, I create a student led conference folder and students drop in their best work from throughout the year. #seesawchat
A3 A couple years ago I helped our elementary art teacher @seeingnewshapes use QR codes so parents could hear student reflections on their projects. The displayes were in our library. It was a big success! More about that project is on: https://t.co/UENq2lbmSb#seesawchat
A3: We were learning about force on science. Students made #paperslides recorded in @Seesaw to share their knowledge and our hallway display gave everyone access! #seesawchat Check it out here➡️https://t.co/8uaaAs8VrT
A3: I love having the QR feature in Seesaw. It makes hallway displays so easy! A lot of times I had parents show up early so they were able to scan these while they were waiting. #seesawchat
Welcome George! Great to have a follow tech director here in the #seesawchat tonight! I love that you're also a Tech Integrationist and HS Tech Teacher! Lots of hats! 🎩⛑ 🧢

@Seesaw A4 In Kindergarten I have students do a lot of voice recording about their creations and right before conferences I usually also have them complete a letter recognition and letter sound assessment on Seesaw by recording themselves saying them #seesawchat
A4 Not only do student have a paper copy of their reflections but they record what they can work on. Parents get to hear what their goals are at conferences. #seesawchat
A4: one thing we always try to do is reflect on our growth throughout the year. I’ll have kiddos do the same or a very similar task at the beginning, a couple times in the middle, and end of the year so they can actually see how much they’ve grown as learners. #seesawchat
Here’s a way to display on the wall in the hallway. I did this with my 4th graders a few years ago and used the @Seesaw QR codes to share their learning #seesawchat ➡️ https://t.co/nfCtLuacx2
A3: Students recorded themself read their writing in ChatterKid making their 100 year old self talk. Parents can scan the qr code to watch their work! #seesawchat
A4 #seesawchat My students add comments or recordings about what they've learned, reflecting on projects throughout the year. Maybe this year I'll ask them to add additional comments to explain why they selected a project for their "showcase" folder.
A4 This year is our first year for student-led conferences. The goal is to use Seesaw to set goals and collect artifacts of learning and growth. Folders will be important to help organization for the conference. #seesawchat
A4. When submitting work, Ss can record to explain their creation. They might also use the caption tool to write about their selected pieces. #seesawchat
I like to do this with our oral fluency passages and student writing / essays. It's great to have these recorded throughout the year, to compare in later conferences and "hear" how much students have grown & developed! #seesawchat
A4: Last year in first grade, my students set goals for 2nd grade and documented in #seesaw. I will most likely do something similar this year, I’m teaching 2nd this year! #seesawchat
A4: In middle school we don’t have formal parent or Student Led conferences...but when formerly teaching 4th gr we used student selected @Seesaw entries and set future goals with their parents. https://t.co/WXK1QBI6UD#seesawchat
Wonderful. I love student-led conferences. Sounds like the way you're using @seesaw will really enhance the conversations students are able to have with their parents and with you! #seesawchat

A4 As a kindergarten teacher, I would love for my students to have a voice for what they are doing. I need to get more confident letting students own their work earlier in the year. #seesawchat
Thanks, I agree. Happy to be here reading all of this! Whenever you walk into a small or mid-size school, they might hand you one hat but you’ll always find several others on your desk. I’m grateful for the variety of challenges I get to experience! #seesawchat
A5: To get ready for conferences we’ve done a Seesaw carousel, where each student chooses beat work, then practices telling others why they chose it and what it shows that they’ve learned. This helps them refine their choice for best and practice talking about it. #seesawchat
A5 Love to see the parents faces when they see the many steps to the engineering process that their children have completed with a project- there are 9 in my collection #seesawchathttps://t.co/1jD5tVK2Ri
A5 #seesawchat My 3rd graders just created narrated slideshows about a service learning project using the Shadow Puppet EDU iPad app. They wrote scripts, added photos, and recorded their voices, then added the videos into @seesaw. Here's the activity link: https://t.co/R0YsABo1bA
#seesawchat Here's a link to one of my students' finished narrated slideshow projects. I am pleased with the ways they were able to reflect on their experiences and what stood out most! https://t.co/93amD87YaX
A6 Want to make as many activities as I can ahead of time- right now I am making them as I go but would be nice to have them ready in advance 😉 #seesawchat

A6 again. I want to learn how to create an Activity where children have to move objects across the screen. Great sorting--I need to learn how to do this. #seesawchat
A6: I want to use voice recording for feedback on assessments in 2019! I don’t put grades on assessments and using the voice feature would allow me to say so much more than I can write to each student. #seesawchat
A6: My goal this year with @Seesaw is to have students begin to take ownership in their sharing. In Middle School, students should be more invested in their own capture & curation of learning. I’d love to place it in their hands more than I do. #seesawchat
