Q1) What system/procedures do you use to keep your devices powered?

Nice! This is actually my first time using twitter so I'm still trying to get acclimated to all of this lol
A1: students are assigned a device and are responsible for putting away properly. Carts are assigned to classroom permanently

. Not exactly 1:1 Chromebooks in all classrooms 3-5 and 6-12 core areas, tablets and CBs in K classes. Close enough!

A1: I have 25 ipads in the library; 6 Kindles. they are all charged in the cart.
Ss are always eager to assist me

QUESTION 2:
What tips can you share for setting up your iPads?
they do, and it is a good way to bond with some of the more troublesome ones. they always seem to like to help
I have a permanently assigned chromebook cart (1:1 classroom) and it stays plugged in. Only have 1 ipad
i have them numbered 1 to 25. I have 6 tables in library and they go on tables in groups of 4. this way i can trace back
Q2: also I assign specific ones if we are working on an ongoing project.
A2: nice thing about Chromebooks: not much set up. :)
I do that in my small group math instruction too. I've also seen making a wallpaper w/ assigned Sts name on it.
Our K-1 classrooms use ipads while 2-5 use chromebooks
A2. All are barcoded on device and on cart for proper storage and retrieval. Makes for tracking and deployment purposes
We use chromebooks at our school for students
yes iPads are so annoying to manage and Apple support is almost non-existent.

A1 I have a check out system that TS use and they place the devices in a crate and they are delivered at the end of the day

I always tell kids to treat my ipads like babies and be gentle. amazingly it works . love your expectations

They are allowed to personalize their wallpaper on our end. Mostly thematic or current events based

I like to organize content by topic & include safe research sites on too!
I think you would need to do that through the Symbaloo app. Once you added webmix to your acct. they could just tap.
Kids drop chromebooks when traveling to another class- any suggestions on how to take class to class?

I love this! Teach your procedures just like anything else.
Or maybe put in their backpack? Do they carry backpacks?
They are pretty sturdy. They literally WILL NOT fall out of the case, even if it's unzipped.

How do you make sure Sts are using technology purposefully?

Try using the teacher totes on wheels. They are colorful and provide that ease. We use w/ younger Ss
Sts are given Qs or a project to use tech w/
A4: Relationships and proximity. Talk w/Ss about how to use. Circulate and engage with Ss while they are using devices
Yes, like an "All About Me" assignment at the beginning of the year!
Nothing replaces an actual human teacher !
A4: use tools like to keep students focused; reduce distractions
A4) Install only iPad apps w/ a purpose in mind. My biggest pet peeve=seeing Sts use apps w/ ZERO educational value.
A4 I instruct all SS and Ts Digital Citizenship & safety before they use any device. I also like to use a watch me then u approach
A4. Provide the topic, allow them to come up with objectives, create a rubric together, & get ideas for activities from them
A4) I push out assignments through Google Classroom. We also have to monitor student chromebook usage.

One of my fave tips is watch Sts use an app to discover its usability!
A4) Tech is used to enrich writing. Videos get Sts attention. Links given in Google Classroom.

When integrating tech, how do you intro a new tool?
A5) Sometimes I just do quick intro of tool & let Sts learn as they go. Other times I give time to play before they use it for work.

A5: Tchr created is home page for Ss, sometimes add a site there for Ss to discover
similar. i give them an app and give them time to explore, teach each other and often teach me. always new exp.
A5 with ss I show them a minute or 2 & let them play.Ts need a bit 4 me 2 show them then I let them play. Notice the difference lol
