A1: My summer is full of conferences and planning for / producing @minefaire. We provide opportunities for kids to learn, code, and play. Some of my students and other young people will be presenting at our events! #TynkerChat

A1: we are 1:1 with iPads in our district but unfortunately the students have to turn them in. Are usually stay connected through the parent email. We try to do something fun over the summer at least once. #tynkerchat

The issue is getting the youngest of Ss to use the technology. In our morning program I practically have to beg some of them to stop playing video games and to create their own game. #tynkerchat
A2: IDEA: I use @boomerang for Gmail to schedule emails. I wonder if scheduling emails to parents with resources throughout the summer, would be a good strategy. #Tynkerchat

A2: it would be great to compile a good list. Must be some #makerfaire activities and local libraries tend to have great #stem and #coding programs. @davezirk is surely doing something cool! #TynkerChat
Let me know if any would like to present some of their cool #minecraft projects. We have a kid who is presenting a session on recreating #NYC in #minecraft. He was at our San Fran show with his recreation - incredible stuff. #tynkerchat

A4: if we do a good job of sparking their interest and helping them find their passion the learning should continue when they leave us. That’s my primary goal as an educator #whyiteach@teacher2teacher#tynkerchat#makelearningfun

A4: The key is to hype it up now so they want to keep on coding and to be available to them over the summer so they know they have you as a resource. Give them options #tynkerchat

A4: Get them excited for computer science! Connect everything they are learning with real-world applications. Show them stories, apps, and games that have been made. Challenge students to make their own. #tynkerchat
