When I was teaching 1st I had just started quilting. I'd bring in my work and talk ab measurement, angles, color. The Ss loved it.

Hobbies: relax w/ fam, reading, being connected edu, collecting puzzles for , crochet. I bring the total Me to class.

My daughters come in. One showed a math problem that she does and talked about how basic facts are important
I love reading, so I read aloud to my Ss every day with much expression & enthusiasm

I love a good corny joke! I try to use one (at least) a day to lighten the mood. It's important to have fun while you're learning!
Writing is also a hobby. So we do a lot of that, and talk about books and publishing. They are helping me design a bookcover now.
I share what I'm reading with Ts and Ss, whether it's current fiction, a classic, or "beach reading."
I have a picture of on a READ poster. Ss love asking questions about my celebrity crush.
I also love to cook. I am cooking for our FACS classes today. Fresh bruschetta. I use the time to share how I got into ed w/kids
Use the alpacas in class. But I use a lot of sport analogies and one of my classes is designing kitchens while learning measurement

Do you ever use those images as writing prompts? It would be amazing to read how the pics evoke words in Ss
I am a quilter too, always do lessons using quilting theme picture books and bring in some quilts
I agree. I must say, I do it well, so it hurts me when I hear others read aloud in plain, monotone voices. Lol.
Same here. I love mud runs. My last yr in the cr I had a Ss join me at a race (there was a kid series). So cool!

So true! Ss often ask me about good eating habits (they know I'm a vegetarian). Non-judgemental modeling!
My hobbies are reading and writing so I've been fortunate to be able to share that passion with Ss in any shape and form.

I model my passion for learning by learning with and from my students. It's authentic and I think they get that.
