A3: A lot of experience here with polls being off from reality, so Ss half expected it #sstlap
  • jmadlin001 Nov 10 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3 I didn't talk abt polls too much with Ss. I did mention that polls predicted Clinton would win. Boy did I feel silly! #sstlap
  • Ryan7Read Nov 10 @ 9:31 PM EST
A3: I'm with the don't judge a book was an vote for funding for a local CC People didn't want to thinking it was taxes and it wasn't #sstlap

Q4 Popular vs. Electoral vote What lessons do you have to help ss understand these systems &why they didn't match up to elect POTUS? #sstlap
  • STLinOK Nov 10 @ 9:34 PM EST
A3: Most of our poll discussions were on that ppl were voting against a candidate rather than for one. Interesting take #sstlap
  • Braz74 - Moderator Nov 10 @ 9:35 PM EST
I know some of you already tackled this question but think it is important convo especially with this years results #sstlap

  • Ben_educating Nov 10 @ 9:35 PM EST
Please share the lessons with me as well. Still confused about this & wonder if it needs to be updated. #sstlap

  • MrBarry628 Nov 10 @ 9:36 PM EST
A4: Ss know why they didn't match up, but wanted to know why the entire US couldn't be like ME or NE so we could see the a diff vote #sstlap
  • TheSSFrees Nov 10 @ 9:36 PM EST
Easy to want to throw the electoral out when it doesn't match. We talk about reform and it's origin; it's strengths and weaknesses #sstlap
  • MrAllardSS Nov 10 @ 9:36 PM EST
A4 Every year we do a EC simulation. In 3 of my 5 classes the candidate who won the EC did not get the most votes #sstlap
  • classroomtools Nov 10 @ 9:36 PM EST
Probably not, since congressional districts in large urban states have higher pops than those in small rural ones. #sstlap
    In reply to @MrBarry628
  • Braz74 - Moderator Nov 10 @ 9:37 PM EST
The fact that it is winner take all system doesn't match will of people- EC is outdated but done to give small states power #sstlap

A4 I found a game on https://t.co/6k5uU1PXCH that taught Ss abt the electoral college. They LOVED it. #sstlap
  • TheSSFrees Nov 10 @ 9:38 PM EST
A4 it'd be nice to continue to foster EC reform debates not just November of an election year. #sstlap
  • MrBarry628 Nov 10 @ 9:38 PM EST

    A4: I just want to be an Elector that's all! :) #sstlap
  • classroomtools Nov 10 @ 9:38 PM EST
Yes, very hard. Best realistic bet for change is electoral vote compact laws already adopted by several states. #sstlap

    In reply to @Braz74, @Ben_educating
