Q1: What benefits do students experience when coloring?

A1a: Lots! Relaxation & a break from screens of course. It’s a low-key social activity & reduces social anxiety

Q2: How could we make coloring happen in our Libraries?
A2a: Offer free sheets, Make 1 table a Free Coloring Station, Post sign, Leave markers & crayons out 24/7
Q2 set up a station/center some where in ur library w color pgs & crayons, markers etc
A2: bookmarks that can be colored during check-in/check-out could be quick when under time restraints
a2 color fav book covers of fav books or books just read, we ordered some coloring bookmarks from demco
A2. I keep a variety of color sheets out all the time along with various and sundry color-makers.
A2c: Run & promote “Doodle Hour” or "Munch & Make" progs during lunch- Spread variety of sheets & markers around room
Q3: What type of school-wide contests or projects could be used for promotion?
great resource! I like the idea of students "claiming a page" in a coloring book. No copies or violating cooyright
"munch and make" sounds too cute! Kiddos would love it!

A3: I think it'd be fun to get the teachers on board by introducing at a staff meeting. First ten minutes could be coloring time.
A3. really I love that it ISN'T a competition. I want to promote for those who would benefit the most from the relaxing aspect.

Q4: How could you use coloring in your personal life?
Every time a student comes to the library they could color a part of the pic. Everyone can contribute. Love it!
A3. for me, once it becomes a competition, the FUN decreases & the anxiety rises
A4: Color during your break to destress when you’re having one of those days? ;)
A4 I love coloring in my Harry Potter coloring book but it kills my carpel tunnel if I do it 2 much
A4: I have THE SECRET GARDEN coloring book and spend about 10 minutes a night on a picture. Relaxing! Takes my mind off the crazy.
A point well taken. Competition diminishes the relaxation aspect.
Q5: What other activities can be both creative and mindful relaxation?
A5a: A local artist could teach drawing wkshp, youtube tutorials, spirograph art, blackout poetry, art journaling
A5 sewing...I love to hand quilt. Play with colors and fabrics and then let your mind relax as you quilt.
A5: Making music on the free beatwave app. Ss LOVE this app. So much creativity.
A5: Penmanship...taking an old skill and practicing. Lots of YouTube demos.
I've not tried coloring yet but I'm getting some inspiring ideas. I may cover the tables for nxt class visit and let them doodle
A5.We used to have a knitting club at my former library. My wonderful aide taught lots of kids (and me!) to knit during that time.

brings people together! It's a fun light-hearted activity that gets people laughing and complimenting each other

There is always a colouring station available - but I do periodic lunch hour events. Very low key.

We like to use coloring with augmented reality like Crayola's Color Alive.
Santa left new boxes of colors and pencils under the tree for me. Starting a new design 2night.
