Join us for our district's monthly twitter chat focusing on "Integrating the Arts" on February 1st from 7-8 pm. Come and chat about how to integrate music, art, and other specialized areas into your classroom to build learning across the content areas!
A1. I've research blended learning. I've read about it, visited schools and classrooms where it's working, and learned how to use Hyperdocs to organize blended learning experiences. #CCSEdChat
A1: Though I am not in NC, I have learned through my research for classes that it is important that the students are always the priority
when creating and building the learning environment. #CCSEdChat
A.1 While the environment I have evaluated is for teachers/administrators, I have tried to consider brightness, comfort, inspiring creativity and collabotation #CCSEdChat

A2. One simple modification I have seen in classrooms is the addition of "charging stations". This sends a message that technology is part of a classroom, and hey, who hasn't needed a mid-day charge every now and then? #CCSEdChat
A1: Well, I've learned a lot in the past few months about Twitter, PLNs, Google Classrooms, @GynzyUS, Bloomz, and virtual reality, QR codes, and so many other EdTech tools to pick up engagement! #ccsedchat
A2: ES I will make sure that my students are encouraged to use tech in a way that will help them. I can do this by having the students use Google Classrooms and substituting technology for paper whenever possible to engage them and make them more comfortable with tech. #CCSEdChat
A2: For Ag education, I want to incorporate as much technology as I can. For example, simply youtube videos on how to weld. In addition, using the tools google has to offer. #CCSEdchat
A3. Some Ss like collaborating all of the time. Some Ss prefer substantial alone time. Seating arrangements (and lesson plans) can allow for this. #CCSEdChat
A2 When teaching i plan to utilize technology such as google classroom, kahoot, youtube videos, and i hope to have 1:1 laptops or tablets to be able have every student involved #CCSEdchat
A3: When I become a teacher I plan on staying away from the one size fits all approach and tailor my teaching strategies to each student as best I can. Some students will be more experienced in technology while others will not. #CCSEdchat
A3: When I am teaching, specific student needs will definitely be a major factor in the design of my learning environment. If something extra is needed for one student, than it is probably good for my other students as well! #CCSEdChat
#CCSEdChat A3: you have to make sure to differentiate the skills so that you fulfill the needs of the students. Make sure they are learning on their achievement level
Q3: Many Ss need to move around in order to learn, so bringing in a few exercise balls is not a bad idea. However, this can distract other Ss, so having seating like couches or simple chairs is also important. #ccsedchat
A4: I believe constructive criticisms from students to their teachers is important. As educators, that's a way we can improve our way of teaching. Therefore, I will be open to any new ideas my students have regarding technology. #CCSEdchat
A4: I think it is very important for students to have a say in the design of the learning environment as they are the ones who are learning in it. #CCSEdChat
A3: Having student input in their own learning environment is fantastic! As kids grow, they become more autonomous, and it is crucial for both their development and their motivation that they be allowed to make choices in the classroom. #ccsedchat
A.1 I do believe students' input into THEIR classroom design/rules/expectations makes all the difference. In many cases they have higher demands than we do! #CCSEdChat
#CCSEdChat A4. I think it's a good idea for students to have some say in the learning environment. It makes them take ownership and a sense of belonging to a class
A5: Hopefully, the learning environment in my future classroom will provide students with opportunities to be creative, communicative, and allow them to collaborate successfully with one another. #CCSEdChat
A5. I really, really, really think PBL (project-based learning) helps this occur naturally! I would LOVE to observe this in practice in CCS classrooms - invite me when you do! #CCSEdChat
I plan on having my classroom be structured towards critical thinking and open communication among their peers. I hope to gain some insight from my students and get them to be engaged in learning. #CCSEdchat
#CCSEdChat A5: I think that has to do with the seating arrangement and having students sit in small groups so they can collaborate and share their ideas
A5: My class will most likely involve a lot of groupwork, so designing the layout of the classroom so that Ss can easily work in groups will be highly important. #CCSEdChat
A.5 This truly takes purposeful planning of such opportunities. We take each of these into consideration when planning PD for teachers and admin so they will do what is modeled for them #CCSEdChat
A5 I hope to create group projects to allow students to learn from one another. Also I can group desks together to allow easier communication #CCSEdChat
A5-working with the media coordinator we've found that the design of the media center & the planned explorations are best presented and then left for the students to implement with minimal guidance for us-thus allowing for the 4 C's to take place organically.
#CCSEdChat
A5 When I begin teaching I plan to foster an environment of critical thinking, communication, and collaboration by asking my students difficult questions which inspire further analysis of the subjects we are covering. #CCSEdchat
A5: Decorating the room like what the Ss are learning that particular day definitely increases engagement and question-asking!
Making sure Ss are close to the teacher and the learning helps, too! #CCSEdChat
A6. A fear or hesitation that I hear from some Ts is how to manage a classroom environment that encourages digital learning and creativity. Any thoughts? #CCSEdChat#dontyouloveitwhensomeoneanswersa?witha?
A6: I feel the biggest challenge in my future classroom will be dealing with the variety of student's level of experience with technology and also the availability/funding for technology in the classroom. #CCSedchat
A6 I feel a major challenge that I may face is the ability to have whatever technology that I am using work consistently throughout the year on a daily basis #CCSEdChat
A6: one of our Ts had trouble getting parent buy in to the approach of non-traditional classroom setup. Also some T's might be afraid of the "unstructured" look to the classroom. And of course not having enough digital tools and space to accommodate what they do have. #CCSEdChat
A6: The BIGGEST challenge has been... that I don't have a classroom yet!
I think one of the huge challenges will be time. It takes a lot of time to prep lessons that are highly involved with technology, and it can be exhausting. #CCSEdChat
I think like many things you have to come up with a plan and JUST DO IT! You can always make changes. Implementing the plan in small steps makes it easier. #CCSEdChat
A7: I would tell them to just go ahead and do it! I think that it definitely helps the students learn in a hands-on way. Additionally, technology is prevalent in our society, so why not incorporate it into the classroom in a healthy way? #CCSEdChat
A7: You can do it! It'll be very beneficial, in the long run, because Ss will be more able to genuinely learn. Ask the administration for a grant, or neighbors and friends for some additional money! It's worth it to change. #CCSEdChat
A8-We've added tables to common areas in our buildings, outside the media center & we have a memorial garden that T's use to teach from and let their S's use as a place to work #CCSEdChat
#CCSEdChat A8: tables and chairs in the front of each of the buildings. A couch in front of the media center. We also have a garden outside where students can sit on benches and read or work.
A8: Group projects and large spaces to work together on assignments is key! As a future teacher, I hope to collaborate with my fellow teachers and get them on board with this idea. #CCSedchat
A8: Hanging students' artwork is always good! It helps them feel appreciated, which furthers learning. Also, a collaborative board can be put up, where Ss pick up a pen and answer a question! #CCSEdChat
A8 I have done nothing to change common areas in my school as I'm not a teacher, however some of my teachers utilize common areas to have students work on group projects or just to have class outside on a nice day #CCSEdchat
Thanks to @teachermom4 for hosting tonight and providing such great insight into this topic@ Also enjoyed the new/potential teacher perspective on the thread! #CCSEdChat
