  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:21 PM EST

  • calebgrn7 Dec 7 @ 7:21 PM EST

  • EthanMcCauley13 Dec 7 @ 7:21 PM EST
A3 Sometimes it takes additional time to ensure all students understand exactly what is needed of them for the assignments #CCSEdChat
  • ClareyKatie Dec 7 @ 7:22 PM EST
A3: When I am teaching, specific student needs will definitely be a major factor in the design of my learning environment. If something extra is needed for one student, than it is probably good for my other students as well! #CCSEdChat
  • JenBauman7 Dec 7 @ 7:22 PM EST
#CCSEdChat A3: you have to make sure to differentiate the skills so that you fulfill the needs of the students. Make sure they are learning on their achievement level
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:22 PM EST
Q3: Many Ss need to move around in order to learn, so bringing in a few exercise balls is not a bad idea. However, this can distract other Ss, so having seating like couches or simple chairs is also important. #ccsedchat
  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:23 PM EST
A3 When i am teaching i plan to try to make my classroom comfortable for students of all technological literacy levels #CCSEdchat

I am thrilled to hear these new and potential teachers thinking with a student centered approach #CCSEdChat
  • calebgrn7 Dec 7 @ 7:26 PM EST
A4: I believe constructive criticisms from students to their teachers is important. As educators, that's a way we can improve our way of teaching. Therefore, I will be open to any new ideas my students have regarding technology. #CCSEdchat
  • jacob_evertson Dec 7 @ 7:26 PM EST
A4: Students know how they learn better than the teachers do. If students ask for examples, the teacher should provide them. #CCSedChat
  • ClareyKatie Dec 7 @ 7:26 PM EST
A4: I think it is very important for students to have a say in the design of the learning environment as they are the ones who are learning in it. #CCSEdChat
  • jlg523 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:27 PM EST
A4. Ahhh! @ClarksOwlstars just did this! Connect with her to learn more!!! #CCSEdChat

A4 As a future teacher I plan on having evaluations on myself from my students to become a better teacher for future years #CCSEdChat
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:27 PM EST
A3: Having student input in their own learning environment is fantastic! As kids grow, they become more autonomous, and it is crucial for both their development and their motivation that they be allowed to make choices in the classroom. #ccsedchat
  • TPerry126 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:27 PM EST
A.1 I do believe students' input into THEIR classroom design/rules/expectations makes all the difference. In many cases they have higher demands than we do! #CCSEdChat
  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:27 PM EST
A4 When I begin teaching I plan to take an authoritative approach and strongly consider my students opinions and thoughts #CCSEdchat
  • JenBauman7 Dec 7 @ 7:28 PM EST
#CCSEdChat A4. I think it's a good idea for students to have some say in the learning environment. It makes them take ownership and a sense of belonging to a class
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:28 PM EST
A4- To do it again I'd have them designing the room & setting spaces up that work for them-NOT me! #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:29 PM EST
    Good idea! #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @jlg523, @ClarksOwlstars
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:29 PM EST
That's so true and I'm guilty of not remembering that when it comes to students! Great reminder! #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @TPerry126

    Q5 for tonight's #CCSEdChat!
  • ClareyKatie Dec 7 @ 7:33 PM EST
A5: Hopefully, the learning environment in my future classroom will provide students with opportunities to be creative, communicative, and allow them to collaborate successfully with one another. #CCSEdChat
  • jlg523 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
A5. I really, really, really think PBL (project-based learning) helps this occur naturally! I would LOVE to observe this in practice in CCS classrooms - invite me when you do! #CCSEdChat
  • jacob_evertson Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
A5: Provide opportunities for students answer and ask questions, and initiate discussion between students #CCSedChat
  • calebgrn7 Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
I plan on having my classroom be structured towards critical thinking and open communication among their peers. I hope to gain some insight from my students and get them to be engaged in learning. #CCSEdchat
  • JenBauman7 Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
#CCSEdChat A5: I think that has to do with the seating arrangement and having students sit in small groups so they can collaborate and share their ideas
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
A5: My class will most likely involve a lot of groupwork, so designing the layout of the classroom so that Ss can easily work in groups will be highly important. #CCSEdChat
  • TPerry126 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
A.5 This truly takes purposeful planning of such opportunities. We take each of these into consideration when planning PD for teachers and admin so they will do what is modeled for them #CCSEdChat
  • EthanMcCauley13 Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
A5 I hope to create group projects to allow students to learn from one another. Also I can group desks together to allow easier communication #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:34 PM EST
A5-working with the media coordinator we've found that the design of the media center & the planned explorations are best presented and then left for the students to implement with minimal guidance for us-thus allowing for the 4 C's to take place organically. #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:35 PM EST
And CCS is offering a PBL PD! I'm really interested in that! #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @jlg523
  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:36 PM EST
A5 When I begin teaching I plan to foster an environment of critical thinking, communication, and collaboration by asking my students difficult questions which inspire further analysis of the subjects we are covering. #CCSEdchat
  • lsj914 Dec 7 @ 7:38 PM EST
A5: I think it is critical to keep students’ best interests in mind when planning classroom set up. #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:38 PM EST
    I agree. #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @lsj914
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:38 PM EST
A5: Decorating the room like what the Ss are learning that particular day definitely increases engagement and question-asking! Making sure Ss are close to the teacher and the learning helps, too! #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:39 PM EST
Question 8 is just around the corner! #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:40 PM EST
    Q6 for tonight's #CCsEdChat !
  • JenBauman7 Dec 7 @ 7:41 PM EST
#CCSEdChat A6: not enough digital learning tools.
  • ClareyKatie Dec 7 @ 7:41 PM EST
A6: I think that the biggest challenge will be the availability of technology in the school and in the home lives of my students. #CCSEdChat
  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:41 PM EST
A6 I imagine that funding will be the biggest hurdle for me when I begin teaching #CCSEdchat
  • jlg523 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:42 PM EST
A6. A fear or hesitation that I hear from some Ts is how to manage a classroom environment that encourages digital learning and creativity. Any thoughts? #CCSEdChat #dontyouloveitwhensomeoneanswersa?witha?
  • calebgrn7 Dec 7 @ 7:42 PM EST
A6: I feel the biggest challenge in my future classroom will be dealing with the variety of student's level of experience with technology and also the availability/funding for technology in the classroom. #CCSedchat
  • EthanMcCauley13 Dec 7 @ 7:42 PM EST
A6 I feel a major challenge that I may face is the ability to have whatever technology that I am using work consistently throughout the year on a daily basis #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:43 PM EST
A6: one of our Ts had trouble getting parent buy in to the approach of non-traditional classroom setup. Also some T's might be afraid of the "unstructured" look to the classroom. And of course not having enough digital tools and space to accommodate what they do have. #CCSEdChat
  • jacob_evertson Dec 7 @ 7:43 PM EST
A6: Providing the devices and equipment needed in enough quantity that all students can participate #CCSedChat
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:44 PM EST
A6: The BIGGEST challenge has been... that I don't have a classroom yet! I think one of the huge challenges will be time. It takes a lot of time to prep lessons that are highly involved with technology, and it can be exhausting. #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:44 PM EST
I think like many things you have to come up with a plan and JUST DO IT! You can always make changes. Implementing the plan in small steps makes it easier. #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @jlg523
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:45 PM EST
Ready or not, here comes question 7! #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:45 PM EST
That's true. But I've found that if you can find someone to collaborate with-will make it easier on you. #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @karen_prem
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:46 PM EST
    Q7 for tonight's #CCSEdChat!
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:46 PM EST
Also, there will always be that 1 person in the building who LOVES tech-find them and pick their brain! #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @karen_prem
  • EthanMcCauley13 Dec 7 @ 7:47 PM EST
A7 Be sure that it allows student involvement with one another #CCSEdChat
  • jlg523 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:48 PM EST
A7. Ask your students! Run your ideas by your PLN! Someone else may have tried something similar and could share proactive tips! #CCSEdChat
  • ClareyKatie Dec 7 @ 7:48 PM EST
A7: I would tell them to just go ahead and do it! I think that it definitely helps the students learn in a hands-on way. Additionally, technology is prevalent in our society, so why not incorporate it into the classroom in a healthy way? #CCSEdChat
  • jacob_evertson Dec 7 @ 7:48 PM EST
A7: only make the change if it benefits the student’s experience #CCSedChat
  • JenBauman7 Dec 7 @ 7:48 PM EST
#CCSEdChat A7: maybe talk to others teachers at the school or in the area. See what works for them.
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:48 PM EST
A7 Be intentional, take your time and try different ideas from your S's and other T's! #CCSEdChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:49 PM EST
It's hard to believe, but our last question for tonight's #CCSEdChat is coming right up!
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:49 PM EST
A7: You can do it! It'll be very beneficial, in the long run, because Ss will be more able to genuinely learn. Ask the administration for a grant, or neighbors and friends for some additional money! It's worth it to change. #CCSEdChat
  • ClarksOwlstars Dec 7 @ 7:49 PM EST
I’d be happy to share how I let my 2nd graders design and rearrange my classroom! #CCSEdchat
    In reply to @teachermom4, @jlg523
  • calebgrn7 Dec 7 @ 7:50 PM EST
A7: Gather insight from your students and implement new ideas if it benefits the student's education for the better. #CCSedchat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:50 PM EST

  • jlg523 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:51 PM EST
A8. @SeabrookBobcats and @District7Elem have done a great job at this! Reach out to them (and, of course @teachermom4 's very own @MontclairEleme1)!!! #CCSEdChat
  • ClareyKatie Dec 7 @ 7:51 PM EST
A8: I think it is important that large group areas still allow students to be focused, but it also needs to promote working together. #CCSEdChat
  • jacob_evertson Dec 7 @ 7:51 PM EST
A8: As a student I haven’t had the opportunity to make those kinds of changes #CCSedChat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:52 PM EST
A8-We've added tables to common areas in our buildings, outside the media center & we have a memorial garden that T's use to teach from and let their S's use as a place to work #CCSEdChat
  • JenBauman7 Dec 7 @ 7:52 PM EST
#CCSEdChat A8: tables and chairs in the front of each of the buildings. A couch in front of the media center. We also have a garden outside where students can sit on benches and read or work.
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:52 PM EST
I'm going to have to visit! #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @jlg523, @SeabrookBobcats, @District7Elem, @MontclairEleme1
  • calebgrn7 Dec 7 @ 7:52 PM EST
A8: Group projects and large spaces to work together on assignments is key! As a future teacher, I hope to collaborate with my fellow teachers and get them on board with this idea. #CCSedchat
  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:53 PM EST
A7 p2 Implementing technology just to implement technology is nonsensicle and a waste of time and money #CCSEdchat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:53 PM EST
Too funny Jen! We've been together too long now when we tweet the same thing exactly!!!! #CCSEdChat
    In reply to @JenBauman7
  • EthanMcCauley13 Dec 7 @ 7:54 PM EST
A8 Communicate with the school to be able to use other spaces throughout the day such as the gymnasium #CCSEdChat
  • karen_prem Dec 7 @ 7:56 PM EST
A8: Hanging students' artwork is always good! It helps them feel appreciated, which furthers learning. Also, a collaborative board can be put up, where Ss pick up a pen and answer a question! #CCSEdChat
  • HollingerRyan Dec 7 @ 7:56 PM EST
A8 I have done nothing to change common areas in my school as I'm not a teacher, however some of my teachers utilize common areas to have students work on group projects or just to have class outside on a nice day #CCSEdchat
  • teachermom4 - Moderator Dec 7 @ 7:57 PM EST
