Hey everyone! My name’s Heaven. I’m currently an undergrad in SoCal, working on becoming an elementary school teacher. Participated in the last chat.. I don’t know what AR & VR are, so excited to learn! #MasteryChat
Hey y'all! I'm Tiffany Ott from Ohio and I am super excited for #masterychat tonight.
“Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”
Great seeing so many different people teaching so many different things, I love the versatility of how we can apply this tech to mastery learning in general #masterychat lets get starteD!
A1 I would turn to @lockettech because she is all things tech for my school, is always willing to help out, and if she doesn't know will beat the drum to try and find answers for us. #masterychat
Hello #masterychat family!

Favorite movie quote:
I’m really excited because my guide to getting hired, having fun, and staying sane (in education) is going to be free tomorrow on kindle. Share with future educators! https://t.co/jhmYM8zs15#MasteryChat
Tbh I’d turn to Twitter. Maybe google. I’m just thrilled they unblocked amazon so I could use my dot. Alexa play Tchaikovsky’s romeo and Juliet — used today for bell prompt #MasteryChat
Yay! Glad you came back to join us tonight. AR is augmented reality and VR is virtual reality. :) @btcostello05 does some pretty awesome things with it in the classroom! #MasteryChat
We are recording an episode with the amazing @Jonharper70bd tonight! Check out his podcast #MyBad and look for his @InstantRel podcast in Season 2 starting Feb 2nd! #masterychat
In reply to
@TechieTeachOtt, @InstantRel, @Jonharper70bd, @InstantRel
Rob LeGault, AP at Houston High in Germantown, TN. Favorite quote is “Devil whispered in my ear, you are not strong enough to withstand the storm. I whispered in the devil’s ear, I am the storm.” #masterychat
A1 I would ask the questions on Twitter. In my PLN there are experts in every topic. Our library media specialist has also done some research so he would be a good resource as well. #MasteryChat
Karyn from Ottawa, high school teacher working in a mental health day treatment setting! Quote: “no more rhymes now, I mean it! ... does anybody want a peanut?” The Princess Bride is such a classic. #masterychat
@btcostello05 of course. :)
Also, at @WRApioneers we have an innovation center and an awesome leader, Matt Gerber, that could show me the ropes of the AR/VR tools we have- I just haveto get around to asking him! #masterychat
#masterychat - A1 - We have an amazing Tech Integration Coach who has completely transformed our middle school. Google came to our school last year and showed us some cool stuff with VR. Check out my blog post about their visit.
https://t.co/4Dq0muPuJ3
Me also. We have an IT guy. And some lady who comes once a month but she did a Pd on how to use google forms this week. Not quite ready for ARVR at our school #MasteryChat
A1: technology department. Plus, we have some very insightful teachers who have dabbled in this avenue. Really you need to put the question out there and see what types of experts you have in your own organization.
#masterychat
My students did this back in November when we were learning about Colonial Markets. It was a lot of fun (and probably the most I've seen them engaged all year). #masteryChat
A1: JD from KY here. I’d turn to @danvillekytech because he’s always got my back when I want to try something new and @BateEngineer because of his great ideas on Classroom applications. #MasteryChat
A1
When in doubt ask a student
We have reached the time in education where the students probably know just a little more than we do about things like #ARVR
My second go to is my #pln on Twitter!
#masterychat
Differentiation is king. If all Ss have the ability to access content, then collaboration, creation, and engagement naturally follow. when some Ss cannot access the content (ELLs, SPED, struggling learners), full class collaboration is simply not possible. #masterychat#tlap
A1. Inquire on twitter to the #PLN. Ask our school librarian whose good with technicalogical things or the technology specialist teacher in the school.#masterychat
A1 - I don’t now a lot about it but would feels safe learning with one of our districts Edtech Mentors - I’m sure @ThaddeusBTeach or @gregspeiser or @WarrenHart would help me figure it out. #masterychat
A2 I have used google expeditions before and really loved it. However, this year I can't get it on the iPads. I just get blocks of colors. Apparently it's an issue that they don't know how to fix. Love to hear of other platforms so I can use with my Ss. #masterychat
Awesome! I will definitely check out his podcast and listen in when he is on yours. :) #MasteryChat@RaeHughart@jeffgargas you guys should check out his podcast, too!
In reply to
@Blended_Math, @InstantRel, @Jonharper70bd, @RaeHughart, @jeffgargas
A2- VR we take students to
-outer space
-Alaska- A setting in a book
-Natural Disasters
-Mayans and Incas
-Rollercoaster
https://t.co/FiRAAFdrgx#MasteryChat
A1: @bret_petty. He is always willing to help me with anything. If we don’t know how to do something, we will work together and figure it out. #MasteryChat
A2: @MergeVR Cubes are always fun—even when they’re not part of your curriculum! Google Expeditions are a hit, too. I’d like to find more within the realm of American History. #MasteryChat
LOVE that you put that as the first question, @btcostello05, now we get to pull all of them in and suck the knowledge from their brains. :) #masterychat
A2 how can I incorporate this for my Ss when we have chromebooks and cellphone ban is strictly enforced?i seriously haven’t seen a student with phone during school hours all year #masterychat
Watching #MasteryChat from the sidelines tonight as @theamericanband prepares for our concert at the Newport Casino Theatre this weekend - excited to check out all the resources you’ve been sharing!!
A2- My Theatre Ss filmed a design entrance (costume pieces had been created) on the stage using a 360 camera. We edited them and I brought in a Oculus Go for them to experience the scene from different audience perspectives. It was awesome. Need to do this more. #MasteryChat
We’ve used @MergeVR with the merge cube and their goggles to experience different things! I am curious different ways to incorporate it into the curriculum. #MasteryChat
A1: My teacher librarian is a great tech resource and collaborator. I also seek professional development opportunities through Google and Apple to learn about these gadgets and how they can be used in class. #masterychat
Hey all. I’m here and reading along. I’m under the weather so I’ll jump in when if I can. Love reading about new ideas bc AR/VR is not a big thing in my school or district. #MasteryChat
A2: I have very little experience with both. I’ve used @Sphero AR apps and have access to @nearpod sets but our school doesn’t have the devices needed to put it to use. #masterychat
#MasteryChat A2 After a @bing search... I was able to use some AR/VR technology at a @MicrosoftStore#AMAZING! Virtual field trips to anywhere in the world. Scuba diving on a coral reef was #immersive This would be a cool tool with geography and history.
A3: Some of our students have never been out of the county they live in. AR/VR provides for them an opportunity to travel without the cost. It makes learning real. #masterychat
A1: @paigesomoza is brilliant with AR/VR. I appreciate her work with virtual field trips with the World War II museum in New Orleans all the way to exploring Pearl Harbor. #masterychat
I think everyone is under the weather right now! Tis the season, right? I am sick, @btcostello05 has a sick kid, @chadostrowski has a sick kid. The world needs a heavy dose of lysol...
Feel better soon!
#masterychat
In reply to
@MatthewBorelli, @btcostello05, @chadostrowski
Use your imagination, what is something or some place you think your kids would learn from that you can't take them to in real life.
This spring I'm hoping to take our 8th graders on a fully immersed tour of Anne Frank's house #masterychat
A3: It can bring Ss to places they may never get to go or create places that don't even exist! How can we resist that option int eh classroom! #MasteryChat
A3) teaching students about things that they themselves might have no experience with, but also I have seen students use tools and apps to create their own AR creations on merge cubes and I think that teaches problem solving and creativity #masterychat
A2: Around 2007, I had access to a laptop cart and once a week the kids would choose what destination they want to learn in VR wise. I used the overhead screen and projected a YouTube sight that were at various locations. Not sure where to go now, but would love.. #masterychat
A3 Anytime we can get our students making and creating, we are moving in the right direction. Putting the tools in their hands and letting them explore uses so many of the thinking processes we want them to have: problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration! #masterychat
A2 I have used the merge cube that I won at Flipgrid Live last summer. The vr headsets that I have tried haven’t been great. They make me dizzy. #MasteryChat
A2: I'm an English teacher so I haven't had that many experiences with AR/VR. I don't mean this in a skeptical way - but what would it even look like in my class, and would AR/VR push out reading, writing, speaking, listening, and debating if I were to include it? #masterychat
Sara here from the Dallas area where I teach 6th-8th grade GT ELAR. Checking in a bit late! #masterychat
I have way too many quotes that I love, but I ran into this one today: "Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future."
A3: Giving them another mode of showing their knowledge. AR/VR gives students an opportunity to present information in a way that is more comfortable for them. Could help with anxiety, LDs. #masterychat
My favorite thing is going to Google Earth and clicking on the dice. This will send the kid to a random place in the world. Have them write a story based off of what they can see where they land! This can be fiction or nonfiction. #masterychat
I actually love to see the use of AR/VR to make living word walls. It’s especially great for ELLs and language acquisition. I’ve found multiple apps for science support but would love ideas to share with Ts in other content areas #masteryChat
A3: AR/VR give kids a chance to become more globally minded. For many it provides a chance to “travel” that they otherwise may never experience. #masterychat
A3 Giving kids the opportunity to see, experiences, and create using immersive technologies gives them an incredible opportunity to build the changes in the world of tomorrow. It's equitable exposure to emergent tech that builds changes in the world of tech #masterychat
A3 The value in giving students AR/VR experiences is they get experience places, times in history, even books are brought to life 🚀🚀 Creation makes their learning sticky, visual and engaging 😀#masterychat
A3 experiences they may not have. We did a virtual tour of The Globe theater. They used @ThingLink to create it. Would that too be consider arvr? #masterychat
A1: I’d turn to my @csteachersorg PLN! I’m the CS teacher in my building and haven’t had the opportunity to experiment yet — CSTA has tons of great people with excellent resources! #masterychat
A3: I love being able to provide my learners with a variety of ways to show what they know and express themselves in a creative way. ARVR will help me step that up a notch! #masterychat
A2
Google Expeditions is amazing
@Google cardboard is affordable & great for classroom use
Nearly any video on the YouTube app can be viewed with a Google cardboard
We've used Google cardboard in ELA History Science and Phys Ed classes
Our principal even uses VR!
#masterychat
I had my students create VR short stories. so their English assignment was to write the short story, their tech assignment was to take that story and animate it to match the descriptions #masterychat
A3. They can explore and interact with basically anything in the virtual world and go many different places, slao inside the human body for investigations of muscles, organs, bones, etc. #masterychat
I think this problem of access to tools/devices is a common one when it comes to #arvrinedu. Anyone have any ideas for Molly for waht she can still accomplish with limited tech? #masterychat
A2: I have very little experience with both. I’ve used @Sphero AR apps and have access to @nearpod sets but our school doesn’t have the devices needed to put it to use. #masterychat
Q2-thanks for retweet, btw! I have no experiencewith this in my classroom. But, took my kiddos to a Star Wars VR experience at Disney Springs. So fun! #masterychat
Always happy to help! When you open Google Earth, there will be a dice on the left hand side. :-) There will be a pegman at the bottom right hand side. The pegman will allow students to drop him anywhere so they can walk around to view the area. #masterychat
A3: I think the value is the creativity aspect of it. Exploring and being immersed in that environment can really leave an impact especially if the Ss created it tide themselves or other Ss. #MasteryChat
A3 like with any form of technology, the use of tech tools allows students to manipulate that leads to creation of their own understanding #masterychat
Also, there are some great programs like @rumiiVR that allow your kids to present and discuss virtually. I am toying with the idea of having kids do presentations virtually to help with anxiety of speaking in a crowd #masterychat
A1: I would turn to @MrOverstreet101! I know he's passionate and even recently won a grant for his school for VR equipment. He's already proven to be a great PLN resource and go-to for me by helping me in other areas. #masterychat
A3: I think we're just beginning to scratch the surface of the potential that AR/VR can provide in the classroom. Fertile ground for innovation when it comes to providing immersive experiences. #masterychat
A3. For me I would think it is setting up school as an innovate place to be. Ss would not have to learn on their family dime if schools gave them the opportunities to explore, make mistakes, and not have the financial investment which can scare families away. #MasteryChat
I love that #GoogleEarth has the measuring tape that allows you to take the area/distance between two (or more) places. Math Connections for AR/VR #Masterychat
A3: It’s an engaging way for students to build their problem-solving skills, to think critically, collaborate, and enhance their creativity while in the learning process. #MasteryChat
You could also take your students on a virtual field trip oir adventure, connected to the content or the world being written or read about. So it's not about replacing, or pushing out, any aspect. Rather, it's finding ways to enhance the overall experience. #MasteryChat
Sorry to have missed #MasteryChat as in Melb AU time zone & catching up with family-look forward to reading through & no doubt will chat with you all next week 😁

A3) #masterychat - @googleearth locating Science museums and Scientists birth places - Hard for Ss to imagine that most early science occurred outside of the US
It is absolutely that! It's also challenging them in new ways. Creating in ARVR requires 3 dimensional spatial thinking, can include coding, and other lasser used cognitive skills #masterychat
A3: The kids know more about this tech than we do. I can see if given a goal and template letting them loose to create something through this tool, thus enhancing their learning potentials. #masterychat
A3
When students use #ARVR technology their learning experiences expand exponentially
When they create the experiences themselves their learning experiences expand to Infinity #masterychat
I actually love to see the use of AR/VR to make living word walls. It’s especially great for ELLs and language acquisition. I’ve found multiple apps for science support but would love ideas to share with Ts in other content areas #masteryChat
#MasteryChat A3 It is one thing to teach about the battle of Gettysburg, or the Boston Massacre and it is another to GO THERE! This is possible in your class with AR/VR technology. I took my son to many historical places in the NE and he aced his US Hist. test. HE HAD BEEN THERE
A3: opportunity. Especially for those students who may come from a background that may not have the means to technology. It could be a way to infuse a passion for stem.
#masterychat
I know there was a huge difference in a Spanish teacher telling her class all about Machu Picchu during a lecture last year and “taking them there” in a @nearpod field trip this year. Sometimes creating a little experience trumps storytelling. #masterychat
This is great! But man I wish US would use metric! Living life abroad now, I can’t communicate as fluently- in ENGLISH- about weather, distance, speed, weight, etc. #masteryChat#weneedmetric
I love that #GoogleEarth has the measuring tape that allows you to take the area/distance between two (or more) places. Math Connections for AR/VR #Masterychat
Thank you for your thoughts, James. Do you see any possibility of ar/vr being used well? I understand the sentiment about it being a tech tool that is sometimes use with little purpose, but what would you see as a good use for it in education? Thoughts? #Masterychat
or to recreate the setting!
I also did an AR project on The Outsiders where kids had to create the regular storyline and an alternate storyline based on characters making different choices #masterychat serious high level thought in that one. Kids used @MetaverseApp its not hard
In reply to
@robbielegault, @kruevans, @MetaverseApp
A3: I think we're just beginning to scratch the surface of the potential that AR/VR can provide in the classroom. Fertile ground for innovation when it comes to providing immersive experiences. #masterychat
And it’s a level playing field for all of my kids because no one has done it before. It’s always interesting to see who catches on quickly- it’s not always who you’d expect! #MasteryChat
A3: I've always believed to get learning in, we have to get students out! Sometimes that's literally. Other times it's digitally. Today we have the ability to do that virtually! The possibilities of "travel" and exposure to the world and beyond are infinite. #masterychat
A3 Advanced problem solving and spatial thinking skills are stretched while designing and creating in and for a #3D environment. Also, there are opportunities for collaboration in these immersive technologies that flex cooperative muscles and leadership. #masterychat
Nice thanks for the ideas. I would just be worried that doing that would take away time from actually reading and writing about the book, in class. #masterychat
In reply to
@btcostello05, @robbielegault, @MetaverseApp
A4: The barriers that keep me from trying AR/VR is that being a SPED teacher, I co-teach a lot so many new options aren’t always well received. #MasteryChat
A4: We have tried it! I wish we had more opportunities for the real AR experience with the cases and their phones. However, the school I used to teach in has a strict no phone policy. #masterychat
A4: I’m fortunate to be at a 1:1 school and some staff have been using VR within World History online texts, Facing history classes and within our Cyberpatriot and Stem departments. #masteryChat
A4 I have no started yet because I do not have enough content to make it useful inside the classroom. BUT I would definitely love to explore how students can use AR/VR to explain and create new contextualized content #masterychat
A4: access to some of the tech, and lack knowledge of as to what is out is the only thing holding me back. We have a ton of tech at our school, just not in this area. Once learn what’s out there, I will be jumping right in. #masterychat
Sorry I’m late. I have been using @MetaverseApp for test ?s, activities, and lab demos. Also did an activity with @cospaces_edu to intro a topic. Using @curiscope t-shirt next semester to intro digestive organs. #MasteryChat
Neither does mine, but my kids do. Also I find deals on them, I have worked on grant funding, and I have found projects that were meaningful enough to get the school to invest small amounts here and there #masterychat
A2: I’ve done a few short field trips using ARVR, but now as a SPED teacher I want suggestions on how to use it to help my students grow. Some of them simply need the motivation that could come from these experiences #masterychat
A4 I have not personally used AR/VR, but the resources and tech are available at my school. The barriers I am experiencing are in understanding- I have no familiarity with the tools and have little understanding of how to use them meaningfully. I have much to learn. #masterychat
We also created a virtual word wall in the human body heart and circulatory unit, with QR codes. Students could scan terms and watch different @YouTube videos or the human 4D cards from octagon to see the organ systems in action #masterychat
A4: Just jumping in here, with two chats tonight! 👋🏾 I have not begun using AR/VR ... yet! Barriers? Not sure where to start. If it's possible with Google Maps/ Earth or through @nearpod I wonder if I'm doing it already. 🤔🤷🏾♀️ #MasteryChat
Sorry I’m late. I have been using @MetaverseApp for test ?s, activities, and lab demos. Also did an activity with @cospaces_edu to intro a topic. Using @curiscope t-shirt next semester to intro digestive organs. #MasteryChat
A4) #masterychat The greatest barrier Ive had is the limitation to ChromeBooks - Do not have immediate access to IPads - Put in for one though on @DonorsChoose
#MasteryChat A4 My wife's school @PollyRyonMS has several teachers using AR / VR in their #MagicDays which virtual transports the kids to the places they are learning about. They use I-Pads to do this, but to do it with 360 degree headsets is another thing.
A2- VR we take students to
-outer space
-Alaska- A setting in a book
-Natural Disasters
-Mayans and Incas
-Rollercoaster
https://t.co/FiRAAFdrgx#MasteryChat
A4: we are a project based learning school and honestly just not something that has been at the forefront. I think we are slowly getting there but from my perspective big topics to work thru at this time.
#masterychat
absolutely! but even with no tech, start with something easy and works with basic computers or chrome books like @MetaverseApp My kids knew how to use it better than me within 20 minutes. So I had to learn more :) #masterychat
In reply to
@RHTASTEM6, @Sphero, @nearpod, @DonorsChoose, @MetaverseApp
A4: Hesitation because of unfamiliarity with the tech. I think there are several Ts in my building who would do it if they were more comfortable. #MasteryChat
A4
Our ss have taken a trip to La Paz before studying The Pearl by John Steinbeck
They have visited the ruins of Greece and Rome climbed mountains skied down slopes and swam with dolphins They have looked inside a brain and stood next to a dinosaur
All with #arvr#masterychat
A4. For me it’s measuring “new fad” against long term sustainability in the building. We have Smartboards & Promethean Boards in every room but they are digital chart paper. We aren’t being innovative just by buying it. It’s purpose & cost. #masteryChat
I am also just exploring the app myself. Tried out a few drawings but there's this amazing educator (will try and remember his name first) who's doing wonderful AR explainer videos using the app itself #masterychat
It is also an easy place to get your feet wet. With "TourBuilder" and also using YouTube VR and other 360 spaces. Also @cospaces_edu is where I really built my love and generated lots of ideas #masterychat
Use AR/VR as a tool for deeper learning as well. As students are working on projects in area of study, pull them aside to tour related subject matter. #MasteryChat
A4- Little late to the chat....I just recieved a classroom set of Google Expedition AR/VR from Best Buy Ed. Love the experiences and opportunities the tech provides for my kiddos. #MasteryChat
@PaulHamilton8 is the one I follow! He has answered all of my questions and shared videos to help me figure it out. I’d recommend him for sure! #MasteryChat
In reply to
@teacherforest, @XSFIT, @PaulHamilton8
dreaded time! I try to keep constraints to a minimum. Here is the app/program, Here is the basics (in a video) Here is what I expect, go for it! #masterychat
Sorry I’m late. I have been using @MetaverseApp for test ?s, activities, and lab demos. Also did an activity with @cospaces_edu to intro a topic. Using @curiscope t-shirt next semester to intro digestive organs. #MasteryChat
A5 challenging question. I guess it's all about thinking how students would best benefit from AR/VR learning while still maximizing whatever resources we have #masterychat
A2: My daughter has a few AR toys that we’ve experimented a little bit with and I’ve used VR headsets with my students. I’d love to know how to incorporate them more into my French classes. #MasteryChat
This reads like a "what to use to get started with ARVR in the classroom list" if I have seen one. Just add in @MergeVR and @rumiiVR and you are neck deep in awesome VR! #masterychat
Sorry I’m late. I have been using @MetaverseApp for test ?s, activities, and lab demos. Also did an activity with @cospaces_edu to intro a topic. Using @curiscope t-shirt next semester to intro digestive organs. #MasteryChat
Your attitude is primed for use in the classroom. You don’t need a ton of expertise to get started! @cospaces_edu offers a ton of support/resources on the website. As ambassadors, we are more than happy to learn alongside you. #masterychat
I really like that aspect of vr/ar. To allow us to "travel" and explore. Are students able to navigate their "travels" themselvs? I have never tried it, so I am curious how it works. #masterychat
A5 I would use them to help take my kids where we couldn't go otherwise, like when we study the moon and space in the spring. I would love to know more about the word walls so i could incorporate that as well. #masterychat
A5- I have used my classroom set during gallery walks where it is one of the stations students stop at. Our next VR trip is to a Great Depression Era home next week and for my Gov class we will be taking a Washington DC trip soon! #MasteryChat
Would be amazing to get your kids talking to other French students in Virtual environments. Something like @rumiiVR which works on computers, or @cospaces_edu with their new voice recording feature #masterychat
A5: I would love to work with @houstonhighGMSD and @gmsdk12 to create a ARVR experience for our perspective students and stakeholders. Interactive tours of the schoolhouseusing this tool basically. Anyone know how to setup? 💥 #masterychat
A5-By allowing students to see what they are learning! It is sometimes easier for a teacher to use https://t.co/cqXAhkx6aM or Google Earth/ Street View then getting the VR goggles out. Students are still able to understand at a deeper level.
#MasteryChat
A3: In the language classroom, I’m sure I could do a ton with VR field trips that would benefit my students, especially those who may never get the chance to travel to these places. #MasteryChat
A5: I would love to use ARVR to get my learners inside a cell to explore each of the organelles, to take virtual field trips to the ancient civilizations we are exploring, create ARVR tutorials for using our fab equipments. The possibilities are endless! #masterychat
It def can get overwhelming. @steve_bambury has released a cheat sheet of sorts for apps and #ARVRinEDU. I’m sure he would love to reply and share! #masterychat
A5- I have used my classroom set during gallery walks where it is one of the stations students stop at. Our next VR trip is to a Great Depression Era home next week and for my Gov class we will be taking a Washington DC trip soon! #MasteryChat
A5. If a student is working on a project where they are researching something that can be investigated through AR/VR, then give them time to travel and study it through AR/VR, too. So they can have a real life experience with their study topic. #masterychat
Q5: In whatever way makes sense. I’m not for tech just because. If it’s meaningful and useful to the students, then great! Definitely gong to Check out some apps/websites from this chat and see what might fit my class #MasteryChat
I really want my coding club kids to create a virtual museum in @cospaces_edu to take to the long term care unit at the children's hospital and share with kids who cannot get out into the world #masterychat
My biggest takeaway from tonight’s chat was I want to explore what AR/VR can bring to a school setting. I won’t eliminate ideas without researching it. Anyone with positive examples of it, share my way. #MasteryChat
A4: I would say our biggest barrier is access. We have to reserve far in advance because we don’t have capabilities within the district yet, but I think it’s coming. #MasteryChat
A6: I think it can help even the playing field for those who don’t have the ability or means to experience learning in real life settings. Give kids experiences rather than just learning the facts. #masterychat
A6: Instantly envisioning Real player one style of world building at the schoolhouse. One where no matter where you are, you can go to wherever your dreams can become a reality. #masteryChat
#MasteryChat A5 I have been in all 48 lower states. I share the places I go with the kids with pictures and videos. They really enjoy it. The attached video clip is playing on the 1st day of school when my kids walk in. https://t.co/xPOM8A0OHP
This chat could not be more perfect! I have a lot of room to grow as I get excited to investigate all of the info posted tonight. They say if you are the smartest person in your circle then you need a new circle. I don’t need a new circle! #masterychat
A6 I am imagining a classroom where students can experience anything, where they can build worlds, explore anywhere, and share their knowledge in ways that empower them to see how they can make a difference in the world. AR especially is going to change everything #masterychat
A6: Blurring the lines between virtual reality and real life has implications for how these tools might be leveraged. When we can see things at 195 gigapixels, it's a brave new world https://t.co/npyQR2bMeB#masterychat
Research Cities 360. Tons of VR trips in Francophone countries. They are easily embedded in @nearpod presentations and can be used with VR Goggles as well. #MasteryChat
A6. Giving Ss opportunities to travel to places they are studying, go inside the human body and explore it's contents and functions. Engage them in learning. #masterychat
Q6- Coolest thing with AR/VR is the ability to bring cultural experiences to students who may not be privileged enough to be able to see how big of a world it is out there! Such a cool immersive experience. Also Google Expedition also has college campus tours too! #MasteryChat
I know people were looking for some great examples of ARVR use in the classroom, here are a few examples from last year that I discussed tonight https://t.co/5YroimaWVV#masterychat
Also, kids designed my room in VR last year, it's close to that way now.
A6: I think dreaming big, students could create VR/AR experiences for their peers or others. It’s one thing to experience those things, but I imagine it is even more amazing to create and have others use one you’ve made. #masterychat
A6 AR/VR in the classrooms of tomorrow could be used for virtual dissection in Science, training med students in surgery, designing buildings, testing weather affects (it’s already happening in some places) #masterychat
A5
One of our teachers had students use Google cardboard to watch Olympic events Another teacher wants to try Google cardboard to show ss the geography of Pakistan while studying I Am Malala
Virtual experimentation is something we plan on trying for the science labs #masterychat

A6: I may look into Donor’s Choice or something similar to bring more opportunities to my Ss. This is their world; as far as tech. Bringing it into the classroom will only motivate and inspire them. #MasteryChat
You were all awesome tonight. I'll leave you with this thought. Over the past two generations people have created incredible changes in the world. They did so because they had access and ability. Someone will change our world with new tech soon, it could be your kids #MasteryChat
A6-By making it more available for students. Making it easily for teachers to quickly use. Adding more places for students to see! Making it easy for students to create their own experience.

A2: I'm concerned about long-term effects on vision with VR headsets. Not everybody realized effects of regular use on hearing w/Walkmans in 80s and now software prevents extremely high volumes. What protects eyes when using these devices? #MasteryChat
A6
Virtual vacations are the first thing that comes to my mind! Allowing me to escape the northern winter cold and go to the warm beach at any given time!

Thank you #masterychat crew and @btcostello05 for all the great questions and encouragement!
This is one of those, "I don't know what I don't know" things, but now it feels I could park my ego at the door, be part of a discussion and find my way to a starting point. 😊

A7) I remember when google glass came out. I thought it was amazing! Dream big- an option for at least one student each hour of the day to be completely immersed in an experience maybe @GoogleCardboar is my starting point! #masterychat
Thanks Brian. On a similar note, my 3-year-old loves playing around on my iPhone X. To think, that's the crappiest piece of technology she'll ever use in her entire life. #masterychat
💰 💴 would be the largest concern. The cards aren’t cheap. Luckily our PTA purchased the cards and our district purchased class sets of @ChromebookHQ for each 👩🏽🏫. But had they not done so, it would have been very expensive #masteryChat
1. I would say start with common sense, VR tech isn't really for under 11/12 but AR is no different than looking at a computer. 2. Keep exposure to 10-15 minute durations tops. Especially when using phone based goggles.
Safety is absolutely important #masterychat
Higher end devices tend to have less of an immediate effect on the eyes, but I would still recommend only short exposures for VR. AR however is no different than any screen time. #masterychat
