It's been quite a while since I got to participate in #gfedchat due to finishing the semester of grad school, meetings, and other commitments. I'm pretty excited to learn more tonight!
A1: Lori Heydt, Reading Specialist, Century. I tried to set several simple goals for 2018...one is to drink more water. Another is to try the Whole30 (and last for 30 days!) #gfedchat
Kevin Carney Red River - No New Year's Resolutions to speak of - I guess if I want to change or alter something I do at the moment, no need to wait for Jan 1.....#gfedchat
Paul Barta, GFC, Choir. My New Year's Resolution was to get down to my playing weight. Update...I had three pieces of Happy Joes pizza tonight. Delicious! Also, be more like @MrMcFarlane00!
#gfedchat
A1: Kristin O'Connor, special education teacher, Discovery. I'm working on reading "One Word" and haven't figured my word yet but when I do that will be my resolution! HA! #gfedchat
A1: Britta Hanson, Elem. Tech Partner, my New Year's goal is to try to get more organized (starting by getting rid of clutter/junk I've had sitting around for years but never use). #gfedchat
A2: Honestly, Google Calendar everything! I also have a planner to write notes in. I review the upcoming week with @TheOstgarden every Sunday to know what's coming up #gfedchat
A2: I love keeping a paper planner to help me analyze the week and month to see nights that I need to block off for homework, grading, and spending time with friends. I also like small post its I can move around for meetings if they get canceled! #gfedchat
Q2: I rough out my week on a Google Doc. I also, prepare as much as I can the week or night before: groceries/week meal plan, clothes, workout bag, work bag, events for family, etc. #gfedchat
A2: google calendar for home and school, lists, and evaluating constantly-what is necessary? What isn’t? How can I make this better? I love to organize! #gfedchat
A2: Google Calendar has been a game changer professionally and personally. Also the Stickies application to keep a running to-do list on my desktop. #gfedchat

A2 - 31 Bags!! They are 70% off right now. Oh wait, we're talking about school. Google Calendar is pretty sweet. I need to know more about this Google Keep thing! #gfedchat
@KatieLChandler - R U like me with your lists..Do you ever add something to your to-do list even after you've completed it just to have the satisfaction of crossing it off the list? #gfedchat
A3: Give myself credit for the things I get right. I tend to beat myself up for the things I forget, the ss I shouldn't have let sit by each other, the things I forgot to do during my prep, and I need to focus on all the things I do right during the day. Anyone else? #gfedchat

A3: The hardest for me is staying present. I'm constantly juggling students and meetings at different schools, and always looking for research and materials for the other. Not to mention thinking about school when I'm at home...
#gfedchat
A3: I think the hards resolution for me is #5. I am such a perfectionist and it is hard for me when I don't get something done, etc. and I need to just realize that it is ok. #gfedchat
A3: Oh boy. I struggle with several of them. Being present, giving myself credit, cutting myself slack, drinking beverages while listening to music. Ugh. I need to work on myself this year apparently! #gfedchat
A3 - "Get organized - For real this time!" I have a tendency to hang on to things.... 'just in case.' If I haven't used it in 10 years, I can probably ditch it! #gfedchat
A3: "Being present wherever I am" is probably the hardest for me. I am constantly thinking about what else needs to get done instead of enjoying the moment. #gfedchat
A3: 8- stop making more work for myself: I like to start too many things at once and get caught up in 5 different projects that I get lost and end up creating a big mess #gfedchat
A3: #4-Drink hot beverage & listen to music...I need to get out of my mole hole during the day, see the real sun and talk to people outside my department/students! #gfedchat
A3: "Be present wherever I am" - sometimes it feels like there are a lot of plates spinning and I'm trying to keep an eye on them all. I need to really stop and just BE. #gfedchat
That was my favorite part about graduating from college: I got to finally read for fun! I started by listening to audiobooks from the library. Free and I can get through a book in about a week or so! #gfedchat
A3-Give myself credit for the things I get right. It's a tough world and we have to remember what we do well, not just the things we want to do better #gfedchat
A3: Be Present in the Moment. I'm getting better at it, but I used to always find myself wanting to be at home when I'm at school and wanting to go into the school to get work done while I'm at home ... #backwards#gfedchat
A3 Be present where I am! I struggle with this at home because it seems there are never enough hrs in the day and always something else that I should be doing. Also hard to stop worrying about certain Ss and wondering if they are safe when not at school :(
#gfedchat
A3: I need to cut myself some slack for sure! I always try to picture every POV & their motivation in different situations to understand others actions better-usually leaves me more understanding of them, but kore judging of myself 😌need balance! #gfedchat
A3: Being truly present can be a challenge at times. With so many things to remember and think about at each moment of the day I have to be purposeful in giving students the attention that they deserve. #gfedchat
Yes, that is a great goal! I encourage you to try to connect with a different colleague outside your department once a week! It is refreshing to get new perspectives and to make some new friends! #gfedchat
#gfedchat A3. Read more books, this will be tough for me, and work on being more organized. This will help with my teaching, coaching, park board stuff and with my Realtor job as well.
I usually ask myself, "Am I going to dig through the binder/filing cabinet, etc. to find that old lesson or will I find/create something new?" Usually it's the later answer so I recycle/toss. #gfedchat

A4: Slowing things down and enjoying the moment, cuts down on the hurry....give yourself credit when things go well. Seems like we dwell on the negative far too often, far too long.....#gfedchat
A5: Make small lists --you feel accomplished faster and always clean off your desk at the end of the day! And make sure to check off the dots! #gfedchat
This is also hard for me. I've learned I have to slow down (easier said than done), prioritize, and get on the same page with my husband to accomplish the important stuff at home. #gfedchat
A4: Mmm, tough. Being present - I realized that where I am, that is where I focus. When I am home and my family wants my attention - that's what I attend to. Time flies, kids grow fast, and your parents are not around forever. #gfedchat
You're exactly right. I've also gotten better about figuring out what needs to get done today and what can wait until tomorrow. Or next week. #gfedchat
I think it would be impossible to be completely organized, but as long as the big things run smoothly and we can mostly find what is needed in a timely manner, life is good! #gfedchat
A5: Not on Twitter, but my wife and I call @caweippert (our former neighbor) “Commander Carrie” because she gave us so many fantastic ideas. She also knows @pb4gfc#gfedchat
A5: I feel overwhelmed by all the information out there. That is an organizational thing to deal with for me. I have to try to pick one and just stick with it. #gfedchat
A5: I don't know about who to follow on Twitter, but I physically follow my department colleagues ... like, follow them into their classroom .... to steal ideas of how they organize their rooms ... #gfedchat
A5: Any office supply, or hardware store has plenty of organizational tools, speaking of home/classroom organizing. We have visited IKEA this weekend - LOTS of options! #gfedchat
A5: I follow quite a few authors, publishers, etc. one of my favorites is school library journal though. Great tips for books, authors, reading, technology, and a ton more. Mist teachers could utilize it! #gfedchat
A5: I don't have anyone on twitter that I follow, but I follow a lot of teachers on Instagram-both music teachers and classroom for organization, behavior management, lesson ideas, etc @MrDtimes3 ; @mswonderlymakesmusic ; @cassie_stephenz#gfedchat
A5: I don't follow anyone like that on Twitter, but I do follow @cj_wentz to get inspired! Also, I know @MrMcFarlane00 and that is all I need! #gfedchat
A6: Use your phone for something other than texting or snapchat.....you look at it all the time, put valuable info in it to help you plan your day or week....set up reminders....#gfedchat
A6: Well, Chaos is my name, so I'm not very good at this. But we try! There's a place for everything, it may not get there right away, but It'll find it's home soon enough. #gfedchat

A6: My organizing expectations in Spanish are to put your papers in the pockets of your folders and then to be sure all the folders are facing upright so nothing falls out. #itsthelittlethings#gfedchat
A6: give them responsibilities with expectations, brainstorm ideas or tools that they can use to meet those expectations. Check in frequently to make sure they are meeting them. Ie clean locker, appropriate chrome book storage/use, classroom materials #gfedchat
Q6 - Each subject represents a different color folder/notebook, fill out planners every day at the end of the day, establish the routine of handing in homework every morning. #gfedchat
A6: In Kinder, teaching procedures for independently hanging up coat and backpack.. teaching where to put snow bags and boots... teaching putting marker kids on.. simple things! #gfedchat
A6: I think organization is something we sometimes forget to help students with...in the classroom we kept planners to reflect on the day and what was coming up ahead and work on organizing desks with what worked for that student. #gfedchat
A6-I help Ss set up their binders/notebooks at the beginning of the year and do periodic checks to assist them. Daily reminders to put papers where they go/keep track of what needs to get finished. Some Ss still do best with a homework folder. #gfedchat
A6:As a SPED teacher each of my kiddos has their own bookbox w/ their name & that is where they store everything we work on. They also each have a folder in their box to keep their papers neat& a notebook that is tabbed w/ different sections word work, journaling, etc. #gfedchat
A6: Posted schedules and calendars, routine, putting things away in number order, everything has a place and I hold them accountable during each transition. #gfedchat
A6: I try to give clear instructions about where things go, how they should get put away. Although I don't often have to make sure THEIR materials are organized, I try (although not always perfect) to model a semblance of organization that they can take away from #gfedchat
A6: In kinder, teaching procedures for belongings, teaching to put marker lids on, labeling with pictures to help Ss, and more PROCEDURES! Teaching simple things to keep them organized! #gfedchat
A6: I send the finished product/packets home right away - keeps the clutter down; student binders with pockets/dividers, and remind, remind, remind until that behavior becomes a habit! #gfedchat
A5: This is more for productivity (but I find that helps with organization), but Darren Hardy's book Compound Effect helps me a lot...when I apply it. #gfedchat
