Q1 - What is it that got you into education in the first place?

A1 a wise HS Teacher that took an interest in a lost kid

A1: I realized that I couldn't hit a curveball, my band would never make it and I didn't want to live at home anymore.

A1: I would have to say both my enjoyment of coaching and my great memories from some of my MS & HS teachers/coaches

A1. 40 years ago, women often heard: secretary, nurse or teacher. Nursing school wasn't working out & went into teaching.

A1.Was working with college Ss in the business world, but wanted a more personal role in giving back, teaching was a natural fit

A1: Love of learning, runs in the family, and I've been coaching/teaching since a young age.

Q2: What is it that keeps you in the game?

A1 I've always loved working with kids and knew I wanted my career to mean something. Education is the great equalizer.

A2 Knowing that we might be the only positive relationship in some kids' lives is what keeps me going-Showing them they have value

A3: hosted a Skype call w 7th grade ss to a Muslim woman in Dubai. The ease of global learning is awesome!

A3 Restorative justice in schools might not be a new concept, but it seems to be spreading as a better way to handle problems.

A3: Breaking the traditional mold to what education once was, personalized learning, crowd sourcing, and collaborating

A3: Ss R now able 2 have peer collaboration from around the world, they can create projects that solve problems that matter 2 them

Nice! We've used Google hangouts for author chats and other special visitors. The world in our little school!

A3: It's not all wine and roses though. I can't wait for the obsession with testing and numbers to run it's course.

Q4 - If you could come up with any new course to teach at your school, what would it be?

Preach! Some testing = good. This test obsession? HORRID!

A4. I would create a multi-disciplinary themed based curriculum that uses authentic, problem based strategies
-
A4 - My dream course would be about global citizenship, tolerance, and activism. My passions :)

A4 Social interaction. How to be a good citizen. Being a community member. I feel this is sharply declining in society
-
A4: Science field study courses with citizen science research projects and an innovation course focused on using design thinking.

Q4: I would love to have a course on Happiness. We have far too many sad kids (and adults) these days.

A4 Ss lead creation courses. Real world problems with a real audience not just their peer or Ts.

A1 always liked kids. Was discouraged in HS but wanted to teach, so I went back to school. Now I'm working towards my admin license

I use a program called TheRealGame for a careers course that incorporates those very ideas!

A4: Community Problem Solving. Leadership 101. Computer Coding. Makerspaces. Digital Game Creation. Culinary Arts. Video Editing

A4: I read an interesting article on "soft skills" today for future employment. Would be an interesting course to teach.

A4:Global issues to build some empathy and understanding. Even some kids from tough homes don't know how bad the world could be.
