Please introduce yourself, tell us your position and where you are from; it's roll call!
I'm Keith George, Ed Tech Specialist w/ Alabama State Dept of education and I will be your host and moderator for the evening!
Hello, Keith and ! Sylvia, 4th grade teacher from PA
Hey Ms. B, great to see you again!
Question one is on the way!
A1 I would say virtual reality and 3D printing, but I may be behind the times since we don't have a lot of tech at school
I asked this on Twitter, I heard Mobile learning, the cloud, Makerspaces, coding, Collaborative PD, Personalized learning, AR/VR
Looks like a good list https://t.co/AX9jFuG3jt

Question 2 is warming up backstage!
A2 When I hear "mobile learning" I think it is using cell phones and tablets, etc. for educational purposes in school
I think mobile learning is more than devices, more than 1:1, it is teaching & learning without walls! Tech only makes it easier.

Question 3 is on deck, ready to hit it out of the park!
What does that look like ?
It can be with devices, but it can't be limited to inside the school or even inside the school day.
A3 very important-easy access, secure (most times), and can share and collaborate easily
I asked this on Twitter, I heard Mobile learning, your butt, Makerspaces, coding, Collaborative PD, Personalized learning, AR/VR
Third, innovations may be drawn from different regions or different schools.
The cloud makes mobile learning, as well as collaborative learning, possible. It is more than storage, it is a platform!
Question 4, are you ready for your close up? You are one in 1 minute!
., you mentioned 3D printing earlier, it's often a part of
A4 Do not have much experience with this but it would certainly foster creativity in students
to me, best benefits of are the critical thinking and problem solving skills that come with it.
Do you have a 3D printer in your school, ?
I'm not at a single school, but many of the schools I serve do have them, but not required https://t.co/wzcVNjGzLh

Question Five is fast approaching, are you ready?
A3: When it comes to those in shared environments devices, the Cloud is a difference maker.
I can only dream to have such tech options, !
A5 I do the Hour of Code with my fourth graders each year, that's about it.
Look in to , they have great program that is similar to makerspace w/o big tech investment https://t.co/I1HWUOu26o

Hi Matt! Where are they held?
We've been running hour of code for 3 years now. With the inclusion of a Stem Special, it is part of every grade K-12
A great start! look into for great free training and resources. https://t.co/ilxOWwOeVI

Question 6, please come to the stage, you are up next!
For the long hall it seems ;)
I am a Lead Learner for an awesome summer program called which focuses so much on learning through critical thinking.
A7 I assume it is teachers working together informally over a period of time to learn something?
Hint- we are participating in collaborative PD right now!
Great concept~hard 2 pull off. Schools must be at similar level to benefit from each other
Question 7 is coming up in one minute!
The folks over at have started a chat. Next edition is Oct. 19 at 7:00 PM CST
That beings said, a PLN is a powerful thing!
Not sure about the same level requirement; I learn more from those that know more! https://t.co/8CjQHYriF1

Apps like can certainly help w/Personalized Learning- create groups for different levels.
A7 Instruction for individuals on their level to meet their educational needs
I think Personalized Learning is teaching to what the learner needs in the way that serves them best.
I took that from a school/district level, not teacher. I surround myself with smarter people to make me better!
Truth! School/District collaboration takes planning but can be done. https://t.co/LcxD7ULFJx

A7 Increases student motivation and interest as well
P.L. lets Ss control topic, while asking to demonstrating understanding. Provides comfort to try new things
Question 8, our final question, is up next!
Wait, teachers have to give up control? Absolutely! It's about the student's needs! https://t.co/Yk7Ve7dZTh
P.L. lets Ss control topic, while asking to demonstrating understanding. Provides comfort to try new things
Its scary but necessary! Have to meet the learners where they are!
A8 I know that my students absolutely love using !
A8: Love using and with students. Jumping into VR headsets recently too!
I think AR will be more important than VR in education. AR adds content to the real world (overlay info on pictures of real things)
Also, High reward for low risk simulations. Huge in trade based environments.
Check out the VR content. Its more 360 pictures than VR but still very engaging for students.
We have used the national monuments one, great way to use VR in state study for 4th grade.
Yup, I love that one too! https://t.co/FtelvGHGRF
