Good evening #PrinLeaderChat .
Brian, HS principal from Massachusetts
Will travel to England to bring my daughter to an internship at Oxford, present in Chicago at #NPC18, and vacation in Maine in early August!!
Good evening! My name is Mariah; I’m a MS principal from PA...What a great topic to chat about tonight! It’s a perfect kickoff to our last week with students! 👍🏻 #PrinLeaderChat
A1: Some of the most pressing issues facing our students: school safety, interest in their learning, living in a digital age, learning with technology, motivation, finding relevance in the curriculum, and learning the importance of citizenship and #CommUNITY. #PrinLeaderChat
A1: For us, mental health was a huge issue this year... and it was compounded by the drama of social media. We need to continue to coach kids in digital citizenship. #PrinLeaderChat
The most pressing issues that I see facing students at the current time are digital citizenship, finding the relevance in and performing on state tests and mental health. #PrinLeaderChat
A1 I echo the concerns of @SteeleThoughts.
Need to look how to organically integrate digital citizenship into diff curricula areas.
Continue to model kindness.

#2 Frontline teachers are overwhelmed and in many districts are forced to lockstep test prep. I worry about all the pressures placed on teachers today. My Teacher Burnout page https://t.co/CrZ01V9Ga4#PrinLeaderChat
The pressure of preparing students for standardized tests, while also teaching the 4 C’s and meeting the needs of the whole child. We ask teachers to do SO much! Their resiliency amazes me! #PrinLeaderChat
A2: Some pressing issues facing teachers: school safety, student engagement, keeping up with technology, making learning relevant to students, preparing students for the future, & not being overwhelmed by content and accountability pressures. #PrinLeaderChat
A2: Pressure for students to perform on high stakes tests. Need for teaching students digital citizenship. The increased need for social/emotional learning in the classroom. #PrinLeaderChat
A2: Meeting the needs of the 21st Century learner. Schools are no longer the keeper of all the knowledge. Being that informations available to our students with a simple Google search or YouTube video. How do we change our practice to build off this environment #PrinLeaderChat
A2. The demands of standardized testing from the state and local levels. This impacts and takes away valuable time for formative work and mastery. #PrinLeaderChat
YES! The pressure on teachers is tremendous! They have so much on their plates...I am blessed to work with the most amazing staff...They work hard to keep the focus on students first! #PrinLeaderChat
I think one thing for sure. We are thankful for teachers who endure all of these pressing educational issues and continue to strive for the highest. #PrinLeaderChat

I'm VERY THANKFUL for the teachers that I've been blessed to work with and am looking forward to the new teachers I will get to build relationships and learn with! #PrinLeaderChat
I think one thing for sure. We are thankful for teachers who endure all of these pressing educational issues and continue to strive for the highest. #PrinLeaderChat
A3: Supporting the social Emotional needs of our students, providing personalize professional development for teachers, digital citizenship training for teachers staff and parents #PrinLeaderChat
So grateful for selfless teachers, who love their students, inspire them to move forward with rigor and innovation, and always seem to be willing to give the school 5 percent more than last week.
You know who you are. And I am grateful for you.
#PrinLeaderChat
A3: Hiring high quality staff, high stakes testing, school safety, digital citizenship for students and social/emotional learning for students. #PrinLeaderChat
A3: School safety, accountability, pressure to be “on” all the time. What should administrators be doing: thinking about how to make learning relevant & meaningful for students & staff, preparing students for the future, changing the paradigm of how we do school. #PrinLeaderChat
A3. Today’s school administrator is responsible for an ever changing school system. Coupled with new demands, the ever growing need for mental health support, and a new presence of safety and security like never before. #PrinLeaderChat
A4: In regards to school safety I see a common denominator. We need to make sure that EVERY STUDENT feels valued. We've got to get back to building relationships with kids and not just saying it! #PrinLeaderChat
A4: Social/emotional learning of students. We need to pursue trauma informed practices that will benefit ALL students in this area! No learning can take place until the student is regulated and ready to learn! #PrinLeaderChat
Through providing relentless support, encouragement, and guidance to teachers... we can help them navigate their challenges & maintain their passion for their profession. #PrinLeaderChat
A4 - teacher burnout - As administrators we can make coming to work fun for our teachers by providing them with the support and help they need. This will in turn help with the students performance in the classroom because happy teachers make for happy students #PrinLeaderChat
A4 Do as much as we can to remove unnecessary stress from the lives of educators and students and allow time and space for mindfulness to protect mental heath. #PrinLeaderChat
A3: Biggest Challenge is BALANCE and having our bucket filled!! This is a #ServantLeadership position if done correctly and effectively. #prinleaderchat@ASCD
YES!!!! @Principal_HD
The power of F2F communication, addressing a child by name, and modeling vulnerability might get someone thru one more day.
All children need to feel loved and valued in school.
#PrinLeaderChat
A4: As we ask our staff to be more innovative, we need to model the way. If we’re going to ask teachers to step out of their comfort zone, are we doing the same and being transparent about it. #PrinLeaderChat
A4: It sounds cliche, but education is the root of so many of these issues! Can we educate our students and staff to change how we think about school, curriculum, citizenship, learning, safety, social-emotional health, instruction, community, & technology?! #PrinLeaderChat
A4: One pressing issue is Teacher Burnout. I try to support by clearing out any unneeded obstacles, and let teachers worry about what's important.. teaching and learning while building positive relationships.. all the rest is "noise" that I try to silence! #prinleaderchat
Great list! I would add: Helping students navigate social and emotional issues, trying to teach and model strong learning skills, monitoring and teaching about the importance of positive mental health . . . and so much more! #PrinLeaderChat
A2: Some pressing issues facing teachers: school safety, student engagement, keeping up with technology, making learning relevant to students, preparing students for the future, & not being overwhelmed by content and accountability pressures. #PrinLeaderChat
We can’t ignore the fact that kids are online more than they are not. Let’s give them the tools they need to be good digital citizens and, just as important, let’s model how to be a kind and productive online presence. #PrinLeaderChat
