2/3 and accomplished learners challenge themselves. We’re covering in the realm of education and
-
3/3 there won’t be many questions tonight, I hope we get a chance to reflect on the posted resources and share with comm.

Please shout out roll with who you are, where you are, what you do and a favorite recipe.

I forgot, favorite for that fish at the bottom of the freezer would be with rice and spicy Thai peanut sauce

Q1: How do you already implement in your design of instruction? Pls share examples
-
Lately I've been focusing on integrating movement into lessons and implement by including kinesthetic learning
-
A1 When teaching vowel rules I give kids 1'x1' card stock with letters on them and move them around to make words.
-
A1: I forgot the A1 on this post https://t.co/wX4HfAvfAJ

Lately I've been focusing on integrating movement into lessons and implement by including kinesthetic learning
-
A1: If I taught middle an upper Elementary grades I could use that to teach sentence construction/parts of speech.
-
I'm in Kenai I'm an instructional designer at KPC and I make a mean smoked salmon
-
A1: movement incorporates multiple modalities of learning and allows active kids to participate more effectively.

-
Q2: What design elements on your smartphone started out as a accessibility feature or app that you frequently use?
-
A1 I mostly help faculty with making media and online content accessible. Lots of captioning and pdf tagging.
-
A2: VOICE TO TEXT, enough said.
-
A2: I bet the brightness level and Siri were meant for UDL and hi btw!
-
What do you mean by PDF tagging?
-
A2 I use speech to text a lot now. Native on iOS now. Used to use the dragon app which is very easy.
-
Hello! I didn't Expect the California Teachers Assoc. PD program to join this chat, but then no one expects the...
-
Love that you are talking UDL tonight. I have used text to speech apps when I had laryngitis. Great accessibility feature
-
-
Q3: emphasises elim barriers/finding the right challenge for S in classrooms, what barriers do you experience in ?
-
using header tags in source doc (word) and converting to pdf, or adding tags using acrobat pro. For screen reader order.
-
What's the benefit of that?
-
A3: great ?! The ability for Ss to verbalize scientific concepts
-
A3: oh boy, designing for UDL/differentiation is my kryptonite and I am a sped teacher it is hard. I'd say meta-cognition .
-
A3: comic strips- comic life change the way Ss respond and express what they know;
-
Q3a: How do you use elements of to remove barriers in ?
-
What do you mean? Like articulate deeper meaning/beyond the sound bite?
-
in addition, adding alt text to Images is a part of the pdf process for accessibility.
-
OK, I know what you're talking about, I just never thought of it as actually being used.
-
A3a: I use to challenge students in games of probability, chance, and problem solving
-
-
-
Q3b: What still exists as a barrier to that you haven’t solved?
-
-
A3b: I haven't solved how to leverage student creativity in demonstrating knowledge of a standard. https://t.co/EJ6WmSA640
-
Q4: Thinking back to your favorite app you use, (thinking question) how do good designers leverage UDL in app development?
-
Q4a: (Real question) What barriers exist for getting all students into computer science ? (nxt Q is what to do about it)
-
getting special ed students to internalize and to create an original product aligned to (about any) grade level STD
-
A4: in the visual design, ease of use, choices for user interface- I see some great websites that could be taken a step further
-
that is what I enjoy about designing curriculum- I see math teachers struggle with this more than anyone
-
perhaps you can think about the success criteria of the lesson and then how Ss can express that in an alt format
-
Q4b: Thinking creatively, how might you reduce barriers to computer science for all , where might you go for help?
-
I used to think I was good at it, but upon reflection, I tend to cue a lot of students to the answer I want.
-
-
-
-
A4b: I don't know, when I have students participating in I might provide small group assistance as a start
-
A4b: Twitter because I don't know any websites to help Ts w this-
-
That’s all folks, thanks for joining, I want to thank and for inspiring tonight’s
-
A4b: for younger Ss you could have them physically move blocks based off directions
