Hi #teachnvchat! I'm Sara, a kindergarten teacher in snowy Lake Tahoe, NV. Having some sloooow internet tonight up at the lake. Maybe bc of the ❄ storm!
You can find the Instructional the Practice Guide Suite which includes the IPG Planning Too, Coaching Tool, and Beyond the Lesson Guide here: https://t.co/VqwlDE40j9
These are great tools that can be used to facilitate conversations about CCSS aligned instruction.

I love planning! Sometimes more than the doing. I loved the planning process that we learned from @BIEpbl bc it has a place for all the lessons and resources we all already have but helps form it into a coherent project for the Ss. #teachnvchat

I've rarely met a resource from @achievethecore that I didn't think was well designed and useful. It just comes down to time and amount of table space! #teachnvchat
Can't be said too often: "Time spent classifying books into reading levels would be much better spent building up the students’ background knowledge." https://t.co/6blvRkSPM2 via @frontiercentre
A1: I agree @BDicksonNV starting with standards is critical. Sequencing and knowing how standards tie together help w purposeful planning and instruction. #teachNVchat
The Coherence Map is an amazing tool that features the wiring diagram created by CCSS math author, Jazon Zimba. The Map is a great, concrete visual that allows teachers to see how each standard connects vertically to previous and future grades. #teachNVchat
You can find the Coherence Map as well as a link to learn more about the map and explore coherence at a more in depth level. This is a wonderful PD tool and ignites amazing dialog round alignment! You can find the map here: https://t.co/utgA0fBtFc#teachNVchat
I was totally blown away the 1st time I had time to really follow a standard or 3 along this Map. It helped me see how the foundational math that K-2 teachers work with all year really set Ss up for success. #teachnvchat

A2: I think most Ts would say this is a challenge! I like spending 15 minutes of "breakfast math" while the kids eat they work on their morning warm-up; usually doesn't connect with our current standards but more of a spiral to try to fill some of these holes #teachNVchat
Yes! It's very eye opening and great to see that our work is all connected. It reminds us to stay "focused" on the major work of our grade level. #teachNVchat

Fluecney is a major indicator for students to acquire vocabulary & https://t.co/wAOE3fzZZr has great fluency resources to support students. Why do you think fluency is important for studnets and how do you support it in your classroom/school #teachNVchat

A3: I loved using @achievethecore text sets with my 1st graders a few years back. Rereading the texts built fluency (and as a result confidence!) They also gained so much tier 1 and tier 2 vocabulary in the process #teachNVchat
I'm sure it had faults that smarter people than me know about but I liked Everyday Math bc it spiraled so much in the math boxes pages. I've seen Toughie Charts for lower grades & I try to incorporate a lot into our AM message #teachnvchat
https://t.co/KkzFUqHtfV has great fluency packets in grade level bands (2-3 and 4-5 and 6-8 and 9-10) that provide fluency practice for students of all ages. #teachNVchat
We often have different definition of reading fluency. It's important to have a shared understanding of fluency in order to ensure our students are becoming fluent readers. Check out what the experts, David Liben & David Paige have to say: https://t.co/DZjeu72DRa#teachNVchat
