A1: A "little thing" that I have been learning recently is that everyone impacts culture in a building. Intentionally or unintentionally our actions matter. #RobertsSoarsChat
A1: Student quote: āItās fun to stop and watch the crunchy leaves fly around!ā I needed that reminder to slow down for a minute.#RobertsSoarsChat

A1 a little thing to me that is big to my students is rewarding positive behavior. Iāve gotten out of the routine of giving my little Eagle of Excellence tickets and the kids reminded me of it. #RobertsSoarsChat
Absolutely. It is imperative that we look to the specific needs of the current set of students we have. Not last years group, not someone else's kiddos. OUR KIDS! #RobertsSoarsChat
A1: A small chat with a student can make a big impression. With a school of over 900 students the ālittle thingsā can speak volumes! Our days are busy but making the time to listen to our students can make a big impact. They have so much to share! #RobertsSoarsChat

A2 My biggest thing holding me back from remembering my little thing of positive reinforcements is pressure to full steam ahead teach! I have got to make time for my tickets! #RobertsSoarsChat
Q2- The magnitude of all the responsibilities we have as teachers. Differentiating instruction for 26 kids, and trying to make sure they all succeed can be overwhelming. Sometimes it is hard to focus on the blessings when your drowning in overload. #RobertsSoarsChat
A2: I need to get to bed on time. When I do this "big thing" a lot of "little things" can happen. Funny how I feel that a lot of times things will be more effective if I stay up and knock stuff out. Most of the time it just makes me less effective. #RobertsSoarsChat
#RobertsSoarsChat A1:The little things I love are when the kids want to share about the things going on in their lives. They have such pride in losing a tooth, or having a play date, and they share as if they are going to burst! I love learning about their lives outside of school!
A2-Remembering to celebrate the little victories...I feel we are always moving sooo fast...saying whatās next? Instead of, āLook what you did!!!ā So...time and a āto do listā #robertssoarschat

Thatās a really good point. Iām SO much more effective rested and when I get to school early. Iāve had a hard time getting back from Thanksgiving break schedule! #RobertsSoarsChat

Yes, I was doing really well and have struggled in the past couple of weeks. I need to get rest so I can have some quiet time in the morning, run, and be ready to attack the day before the day attacks me. #RobertsSoarsChat
A2: Since we only see the kids 1 hour a week, I feel like I MUST. GET. THROUGH. THE. LESSON. PLAN. Some kids just need you to be a listener instead of the talker. I find myself like āYou must make music, tiny humans!!!!ā. #RobertsSoarsChat šš»šš»š¤
A2: Time!! The days go by quickly and at times it feels like a race to get as much done as possible by the end of the day. I will say that I have improved my speed walking time since being at Roberts. #RobertsSoarsChat
Some years 28 Ss feel like 20 and other years where 26 Ss feel like 40 kids in the room and you want to be as great with the āfeels like 40ā as you are with the easier class. #RobertsSoarsChat

I can only imagine the challenge of only seeing them for an hour a week. Specialist have a challenging job: Connect with each kid, teach content within such a small amount of time. Keep it up! You are doing great. #RobertsSoarsChat

A3-I wish the state would recognize student growth for the year on more than a test at the end of the year. Kids grow in confidence, speaking skills, problem solving, the ability to work with others, etc. I wish all that could be taken into consideration. #RobertsSoarsChat
A3: No idea where it could be squeezed in, but many of our Ss could benefit from (more) time spent on cursive writing. Lots of perks beyond just āfancy writing.ā#RobertsSoarsChat

More PDs where I walk away going ā Iām going to use that tomorrow. Or ā that was so inspiring I feel empowered to be the teacher I know I can be. Iām really tired of sitting in those meeting thinking of all the time that is being wasted. #RobertsSoarsChat
So true! Can you imagine how those stats would look? Students could really discover more of their talents and abilities if we could/would detect that kind of growth!
A3 I do agree. The testing doesnāt show a childās confidence or increased self-esteem. I wish there was a way to recognize long range growth in being just an awesome person overall! #RobertsSoarsChat

I'm always open to ideas @nanette_deal! I agree, PD should be inspiring, challenging, uplifting, informative, meaningful, purposeful, etc. etc. #RobertsSoarsChat

A3: could we do one of those boards in the mailbox area that has names of āexpertsā on certain topics/behavior/etc... And maybe a calendar and reminder board... It sees the most traffic?! Maybe! #RobertsSoarsChat

I feel as though students can always benefit from more SEL. Having the skills to manage and understand not only their own emotions but others can be invaluable in their education and in life. #robertssoarschat
Q3- I believe it is important to not only grow kids academically, but also as human beings. I would love to see our school embrace teaching out to those in need through volunteer activities that would build into our students a sense of making a difference. #RobertsSoarsChat
A4: I'm going to go running, play on the swings and trampoline with my kiddos, watch movies, read books, and work on projects around the house. Can't wait! #RobertsSoarsChat
Watch Christmas movies and finish reading Harry Potter and the Sorcererās Stone to Zoey. She is loving book 1 and it is bringing joy to my Mama heart. Oh, and I am looking forward to some naps! #robertssoarschat
