    A1: curiosity in the classroom begins with students generating the questions. In science we use phenomenon to generate questions. In math I’m a huge fan of 3-Act lessons @ddmeyer to stimulate curiosity #learnlap

    A1: My absolute favorite words to hear are “Mrs. P., I have a question!” Curiosity is everywhere, in every text we read. Ss bring up so many insightful thoughts and ideas I hadn’t thought of myself. #learnlap

    A4: I often aggravate kids by turning their questions around on them. I encourage them to find the answer when they're capable of it. By midyear they know that they are capable of finding those answers. I use "Why?" so often that a S said I sound like his 2 yo bro . #learnlap

    A6. In taking risks in classroom, it means trying new things with Ss that you've never attempted, so you learn with the Ss. They see your failures, problem solving, reworking, reattempting, and successes! Ss will feel more encouraged in a safe env. that promtes risks. #learnlap

    #learnlap A6 usually Ss r afraid of failure bc/of grade. When Ss want 2 take risk, I tell Ss realize I will work w/them. I encourage the risk! We do a reflection step & and when Ss can tell me how they would change things, I count that thought process in my judgement of the work.

    #learnlap A8: My "Mathacognition" is all about the process. Ss identify HOW they learned....what conditions work well for them, which don't, and how they can recreate positive conditions. It ain't about the math! Best part: So many have shared that they learn by helping others!

    A8: Our Ss need GRIT! Due to social media all we see are people's highlight reels - we never broadcast the hard work it took to get there. They see the wins and never the losses. Instilling hardwork and determination keeps them going when motivation runs out. #LearnLAP

    A6: When I want to encourage Ss to embrace a growth mindset when learning doesn't go according to plan, I allow them to feel their feelings in a safe place. I don't try to fix them or shame them. I am gentle with myself like I am with them. #LearnLap
