Good evening! Brenda Fry I am an elementary school librarian from PA and I love Symbaloo.
Hi Keith! Thanks for stopping by today!
Hey Brenda! Thanks for joining today!
Hey fans, is starting now! Jump in!
A1) It can help to provide the Calm, or chaos for a student... can energize, or clear their mind.
Teachers, if you are a SymbalooEDU user, head to Twitter now for !
A1 Hello everyone! Learning space is important. Sts need space to work/explore and an environment that is safe and comfortable.
A1: It affects how they learn. Inviting, engaging spaces make for engaged students
. Safe and comfortable, whether physical or virtual!
Yes! Teaching online safety is a must!
A2: Walls, desks/seating, decor, Equipment. . .umm, everything?
Is the classroom saying you're welcome here or you're here to comply?
A2) Learning spaces need a place to learn/present as a group, a place to learn in small groups & a place to work independently.
A2 Parts of a classroom should include a classroom library, supplies, tech areas, and room to move around and collaborate
A2) Ewan McIntosh's video about 7 Spaces of Learning describes spaces needed in a classroom in detail.
https://t.co/AiCrDxLxE6
A2: Learning space= more than just one classroom too!
Yes! Definitely room to collaborate and to move around!
Yep. Use the halls, the outdoors, everywhere...
And I even think lighting choices. Some kids read better in dim light, some in bright light.
Colors definitely contribute to the mood.
A3: I'm amazed that in some classrooms the T workstation faces the wall & not students. Lighting is key, too
I had opportunity to visit schools in Japan (Thx Honda) NO TEACHER DESKS in classroom.
I know! Always strange when I end up presenting in a room like that. I think, "How do they talk to their Sts?"
I've not had a teacher desk in my room before. I only need one now to hold things. I never actually sit there.
Also, Japan?! That's awesome!
hopefully that will be kept in mind for our new school
Yup, nine days, three cities, 11 schools. Honda's dime
we need to be strong voices in that conversation
I have places in my room that I "teach" from. But I'm never there for long either. I'm most often found on the floor.
A4: Money and Admin acceptance
Lol. My first green screen was literally green paper. It worked!
A4 Classroom size would be my biggest challenge.
A4) Sometimes teachers &/or administrators need a different mindset when considering a modern learning space.
I had a classroom studio, back in the vhs days. I want one now to play w/ https://t.co/rdRhKD2rOO

That is definitely something you cannot change. When I was in a small classroom, I really had to limit my furniture.
Yes, the move from traditional to what works for today's classroom is too slow sometimes. https://t.co/yCQKCOsmIs

Haha...VHS days. No one said you had to date yourself. ;) But I do love some !
Late but here. Evening /ers A1. Space defines level of creative engagement
Q4: Sometimes T voices in what's best 4 Ss gets lost because of so much focus on other factors
Hey , don't you need me to test/review something? https://t.co/XiqgCGYaRM

Hey Barbara! Glad you made it!
A4) FUNDING can be a challenge when designing a different learning space.
A2. All. See where limitations may arise or what limitless capabilities are in store. Think beyond 4 walls
I agree completely. Think OUTSIDE of the walls.
A5: Creativity. Teacher freedom. Listen to students, they have great ideas too
love this space! Who wouldn't want to work and learn here
A3. Flexibility to rotate and change up with ease or theme. Location of room. Size don't matter when you're creative
Q5: Engage the conversation with peers & admin.
If you ask them, they will tell you.
I know! I want to go to 4th grade there!
A5b: Teachers could also share learning spaces. Switch rooms, it will be okay
In regard to changing mindsets, share some of the resources listed in this . See the video and book linked earlier.
A4. Fixed furniture, limited resources to manipulate rm to desired foresight. Accommodating learng styles/change resistant Ss/Admin
Oh. My. Goodness. What a great idea! https://t.co/KKyYeEE03I
A5b: Teachers could also share learning spaces. Switch rooms, it will be okay
A5. Show how it has worked elsewhere. Design a creative proposal for space, execute w/ demo, obtain feedbk, follow up.
On how to convince others of importance of a modern learning space... https://t.co/pak0zWYGCc

I've had the fun privilege of changing my lab to a camp site. Students loved that &so did some Ts. Had them use it 4 their classes.
A6) There are TONS of tools that help our students to collaborate.
A6. Allows for exploration beyond the space. Make a theme based space, integrate tech, explore beyond 4 walls while indoors.
A6) Technology can give our students a place to present and publish their work.
A6: Tech allows any place to be a learning space
Well we're about out of time for this week's ! Thanks so much everyone for talking learning spaces with me today!
