Crystal Howard, MS AP, excited to be here!

Tonight we are discussing "Making the Most of Testing Season."

-

-
Merri Rajaniemi, PreK-6 AP, looking forward to tonight's

-
Now that we have entered May we have officially entered "testing season." We focus tonight on maximizing this time.

-
Q1: What does testing look like this time of year in your school?

-
The race is on to find proctors. We partner with the local military base to fill this need.

-
A1. We have one more week before KPREP, KY's state assessment. Ts are feeling the stress & time constraints.

-
That is a HUGE problem! there are never enough testing proctors for all of the needs, which adds to stress https://t.co/zSjGgXK2Tr

A1. Many of our teachers will not have their usual planning period which creates anxiety as well.

-
Not a bad solution...especially the outreach as a result

-
Krystle Stingle- Aspiring Administrator- Just finished my masters in April!

-
We adjust our schedule so all Ts get their planning period and Ss get a needed break. May be at dif time of day

-
Our Ts get a brief break, but nothing like the typical day. We're in this together though!

-
Q2: How do you structure time for students who are not testing while others are testing?

-
A2. Our PreK-2nd graders have a QUIET but mostly normal day. PE takes classes outside.

-
A2. Our students test at the same time. Classes that finish early go to our auxillary gym, away from the main building to have fun.

-
Q3: How do you get the most out of your students who are testing?

-
Crystal, Our 3rd - 6th graders all test at the same time. Each grade has a slightly dif schedule.

-
A3. We give Ss a break and snack between sections of each day's test. Practice during year to build their endurance.

-

-
Q4: How do you use this time of year to maximize time for professional learning?

-
Just to clarify, we don't practice the state test. Benchmarks are similar in length and rigor.

-
A4. We try not to add anything extra or new. We provide stress management tips to teachers

-
Q5: If you could restructure one thing about testing in your school, what would you alter?

-
Thanks for joining tonight. Be better every day in every way - our students deserve it.

-
A5. I would eliminate the test for alternate portfolio Ss and restructure it for special needs Ss https://t.co/VJxKBQ7062
