  • mrskochheiser - Moderator Feb 21 @ 9:31 PM EST
    This #6thchat Quality not quantity.
    • SamReisman93 Feb 21 @ 9:27 PM EST
A4: Limit the amount of assignments you are giving so that you can focus in on the ones you are doing for good feedback #6thchat
  • missfgrade6 Feb 21 @ 9:32 PM EST
A5: this sounds like a great place to incorporate tech! I have a colleague who uses canvas for this! #6thchat
  • Renard_Teach Feb 21 @ 9:33 PM EST
A5 I thinking it is about group think in math. Model, group, individual to group, then individual. Feedback comes in sharing. #6thchat
  • mrskochheiser - Moderator Feb 21 @ 9:34 PM EST
You can also do this with @vocaroo and Doctopus/Goobric have voice recording options. #6thchat
    In reply to @staceyreeder, @vocaroo
  • Teachr4 Feb 21 @ 9:34 PM EST
I think we shld limit the # of assignments we give feedback on, but not the total # of assignments. My Ss do not do enough writing. #6thchat
  • SamReisman93 Feb 21 @ 9:34 PM EST

A5. Self-eval 1st w/rubric before I assess. (conversation if needed) Reflect mid-process, & at the end, predict grades, explain why #6thchat
  • missfgrade6 Feb 21 @ 9:35 PM EST

  • RunnerGirl13_1 Feb 21 @ 9:36 PM EST
A5) I've been having Ss peer review in Google docs/hyperdocs. One comment and one question to ponder. #6thchat
  • staceyreeder Feb 21 @ 9:36 PM EST
@mrskochheiser , what have you had the most success trying? Think voice recording will help manage grading for my 75 kiddos! #6thchat
  • mrskochheiser - Moderator Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
A6) I think so. If there are too many suggestions, or too frequent, Ss do not know how to absorb or focus on how to improve #6thchat
  • Renard_Teach Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
Taking a benchmark assessment tomorrow, this just gave me a good idea. Man, chats are great. #6thchat
  • staceyreeder Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
A6: Yes! Sometimes reading & writing should just be for pure joy! Otherwise some kids never feel successful! #6thchat
  • hoffmanteambret Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
YES! We can't micromanage the process, stymies creativity and build to independence. WAY imp things at this age! #6thchat
  • SamReisman93 Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
A6: Yes. You can't give feedback on every single word/line a student puts down or they will not look at any of it #6thchat
  • missfgrade6 Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
A6: focus on quality feedback not quantity #iknowisaidthatoncealready #6thchat
  • thedevineone Feb 21 @ 9:37 PM EST
A6 Yes I think it can lose it's effectiveness if you overwhelm them. #6thchat
  • PrincipalSmart Feb 21 @ 9:38 PM EST
A6 I never feel like I give enough feedback, but students need time to reflect and act on feedback. Too much can overwhelm. #6thchat
  • Teachr4 Feb 21 @ 9:38 PM EST

A6. Yes, esp. with struggling Ss. I try to focus on something specific so they can have a win then add more when they're ready #6thchat
  • Renard_Teach Feb 21 @ 9:39 PM EST
A6 Too much feedback can lead to over reliance on validation of the teacher. Hard to undo once done. #6thchat
  • missfgrade6 Feb 21 @ 9:39 PM EST
often times they get feedback from all their teachers and adjusting to middle school is tough! #6thchat

Most important lesson about feedback is that it's gotta be differentiated and leveled. S goals not all the same, vary per S need. #6thchat
  • staceyreeder Feb 21 @ 9:41 PM EST

  • mrskochheiser - Moderator Feb 21 @ 9:43 PM EST
A7) Focus on 1. One specific, goal oriented statement. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by all Ss need to learn, & refocus on ONE thing #6thchat
  • SamReisman93 Feb 21 @ 9:43 PM EST
A7: Give specific feedback on what the S does well and how they can make it better with specific steps to improve #6thchat
