I actually agree. All of our students are pretty significantly impacted so our shortest calendar starts at 209 and many of our students attend 240. #ATchat
Mine is equity in quality education. Going beyond the mechanics of device 1:1, but truly every student has equity of quality opportunity in the classroom #atchat

Hi all- Vicki in Memphis. University classes were done first week in May; summer session starts in 2 weeks. Public schools here mostly had their last day today. #ATChat
I NEED YOUR HELP! I am preparing for an upcoming session on Building AT Capacity. Leave a @flipgrid video and tell us about your team: https://t.co/iyBVpoYr4I#ATchat
Question: what are the most important individual differences (history of TTS, ADHD etc.) when exploring the use of TTS to assist students reading comprehension? #atchat
I had a fun conversation today with colleagues that may lead to an ATIA presentation proposal, as well as some local TN conferences. Nice when that happens. #ATChat

I have been traveling thru MI working with teams to build AT capacity. The day was broken up with big chunks of group conversation. The day was such a powerful experience. Less talk from me=more sharing from them! #ATchat
That is the beauty of data-it is hard to argue with :) #ATchat Seriously...discussing it with them and making sure they know WE are in this together for S success. Not just making more work for them
I went to a workshop that had several different breakout sessions - each only 15 minutes. The presenter gave us an activity to illustrate one aspect of the overall topic. It was really great. #atchat
Can’t take credit for it, but our team created a strategy a day calendar that we provided to our teaching staff & we all learned how to use social media and a continuum of tools to create additional content. #ATchat
I am trying to brainstorm the list and getting feedback from people out with kids in the field is so valuable. So please share any ideas if you have more! #atchat
Cannot cosign this enough! These preferences will follow the student through the rest of their lives! Even if they change, knowing there are options is very important. Yadda yadda #highered#employment.

I just did this same thing in a series of full day sessions. Each day participants could choose their own topics for short 10-15 minute edcamp style sessions. So powerful #ATchat
I typically start with the Readability features in Safari on the iPad which is readily available option if they have iOS devices. Then I move to VoiceDream Reader since there are so many customizability features. I want them to know there are options! #ATchat
An activity where people practice AAC modeling with core vocab boards & activity specific boards has been fascinating to watch. Taught me the importance of explicitly teaching how to model- most don’t find it intuitive & being immersed in it, I sometimes forget that. #ATchat

Unfortunately, I don't. When we work with the students, we start with a conversation & ask what can make reading and writing difficult. We'll try voices, speed, pitch. Then highlighting options or what have you depending on the tool. We'll tweak until things are perfect #ATChat
I would love to go and I am going to write a proposal on my dissertation research:) I would be up for doing other things as well if people want to do something together. #atchat
I'm doing a two-day pre-con with @iplante. Not sure I'll have the energy for more but would love to do something about one of my passions - tech to enhance understanding/comprehension. You? #ATchat
True, but only if it has what you need. Plus, I need to make sure that I'll have functionality without internet access. Lots of students still don't have that, even in #highered.

I missed last ATIA so definitely going to the next. Wasn’t intending on proposing anything until the conversation I had with colleagues this morning. Probably will now! #ATchat
Active reading strategies using tech - Color choices - Highlight tools Add-on in G-Docs, Embed questions, URLs and comments using Insert Learning and Actively Learn are three options. #ATchat#LDchat
I went the last two years, presented last year. I really enjoyed myself, especially at the preconference. The first day is one all day session, and the 2nd is three short sessions. #ATchat
It really depends. We use lots of different programs. If a student says a voice sounds "off," we'll look at the platform the student has available and see if we can change the software to allow for more variability. #ATChat
Of course! I will submit a handful for #ATIA19 App smackdown continues to be a great session. Last year I did an edcamp style session w/ @JoeBenamati called Let's Talk AT Implementation. It was so much fun. We had no plan & let the group run the convo #ATchat

Yes! The clicker Apps are great for writing support - there are four to choose from and they progress developmentally. Depends on skills of Ss. #ATchat
AAC, ABA & SLP- my 2 colleagues have been running a 3 morning/week program for young kids w/autism, combining SLP & ABA services. I’ve consulted on the AAC portion & it’s going very well. One of my AAC students did an awesome final project case study. #ATchat
Thanks, I understand I am just trying to systematically go through the preferences and rank which are most important. I am deciding which preference I allow for my TTS experiment and which I set constant across students. #atchat
I understand. Something to look at is even the operating system has voice pitch controls now. So if the program can't do it, but uses the OS voice, you might be able to do it globally that way. Kinda a set it once. Just remember platform is important. #ATChat
The UDL-IRN did that with some sessions the last 2 years & you could pay for the live stream. I didn’t do it this year b/c of scheduling but I loved it last year. #ATchat

Know if your device or program is internet dependent. THAT can be a big killer for students in rural areas or areas without inexpensive/free wifi available. And if something seems difficult to you to use, it might be tough for the student. #ATChat
When conducting an experiment should I only use the technology that students use every day or should standardize it so that all students are using the same technology? Educators and practitioners what do you think? #atchat
He's leading the conversation next week but we need more time to really discuss his book. Hoping he will ask some throught-provoking questions next week. #ATchat

You might want to consider the hypothesis you're testing or the goal of your research. Do you need a control group? Are you trying to show a treatment effect? #ATChat

Great suggestions. I was planning on reading the new @eyeonaxs book after @attipscast I read enough books I am willing to lead both slow chats! One in July; One in Aug #ATchat

I can make arguments both ways based on my research questions and design. Each student is being tested with and without technology right now. I have a prospectus defense next week and I am trying to think of all the questions/choices I am making. #atchat
Sure! I need to look at my calendar and also need to wait and see where the projects are at this summer. I should be able to add to it later this summer in July. #atchat
