Take 2
Gday #nt2t
Carl from Avonsleigh Australia
Year 8 Learning Leader
Every meal is a memory: I don't want to go through life thinking, "I could have eaten that."
Chris from Bloomington, IN. Teach world history for a private online HS. Thanksgiving meals are always wonderful memories for me of spending time with family. #nt2t
Good morning! (Afternoon/evening.) #nt2t team member here from Connecticut, USA. Parent first and foremost, and I do education communications. Thanksgivings past bring back memories! #nt2t
John 3rd grade T from STL MO checking into #nt2t as much as possible this AM. Hope everyone is well. Growing up my church had Thanksgiving dinners. Remember many of these as much if not more than family Tday meals.
A1 Without someone to come home to and talk about achievement/setbacks work would be tough. Knowing that they support you keeps the positivity going #Nt2t
A1: my family affects me positively as an educator, they always bring me back to the ground and I can experience the other side of education very closely with them ... I always wonder what I can do better
#nt2t
A1) I think it's made me more conscious of needing to have some down time. Once I had children, I think it caused me to have more patience or to be patient in a different way, if that makes sense. #nt2t
A1. By realizing/remembering how stressful/demanding the classroom can be and understanding the time it takes to do it right. A great support system #nt2t
A1) As a parent, I find that family guides the conversations I have about education. I pull from our own experiences, and the parent perspective is valued in itself. #nt2t
A1) I think as educators, we face an uphill battle everyday in a sense that we are forced to justify our every moves. Family can provide that moral support that we do not always feel at school. Plus they make a lot of sacrifices for us to be able to be great teachers! #nt2t

A1. Thankful for my fiancé who always comes along to sports games, musicals, social events at school with me! I’d be lost without her understanding & support! #blessed#nt2t
A2: my colleagues affect me positively as an educator when they openly exchange ideas with me and also criticize me positively or negatively, because I am always looking for suggestions on what I can do better
#nt2t
My husband chaperoned a lot of dances w/ me back in the day. It actually helped him once when he got pulled over for running a red light (had just turned from yellow). The officer was one from the dances and just gave him a warning. LOL #nt2t
A2: Our colleagues are our FAMILY at work. Harmony there is equally important. More supportive the team, the better the results everyone will deliver. #nt2t
A2) Fellow colleagues are there for each other every day. When you may be feeling down, one is there to pick you back up. If you have a problem, one is there to solve it. Think positively. #Nt2T
A2 Fellow colleagues are crucial to positivity. As the head of the service I can see the impact one person can make on the team. Not only do I try to stay positive but also need their support when my own positivity is down. It's a team after all #Nt2t
A2: I feel if we all model the positivity and motivate each other, we all will be great assets to our students. I love learning from other educators including my PLN. You are all so awesome. #nt2t
A2) I have had some of the best colleagues. The social studies dept at my first school was so supportive and encouraging. Colleagues help you keep perspective & give you ideas. #nt2t
A1 You need to have a support system in anything you do. Being an educator can be challenging and having that place you can run to is valuable. I am a mother of 5 in my last year of college to become an educator. I would not be this far without my family support. #nt2t
A2 I’d be lost without my colleagues. As a brand new teacher who jumped in before Christmas break a couple of years ago, without they’re sharing of experience & resources, idk where I’d be today! #nt2t
A2: Colleagues can collaboriate together and have great outcomes. There can also be a great support system without your own work place, however, I have heard it is best to stay clear of the teacher lounge. Guard yourselves of negativity. #nt2t
A3 I feel fortunate that my school has supportive, open, professional administration. They understand what I do as a SLP. They are around all of the time for students and staff. They are positive! #nt2t
A3 An educational mentor does not alway need to be someone dedicated to doing that. I have had teachers mentor me without even realising they are doing it. This is a special relationship when it happens. #Nt2t
A3) When I stated, our state had mentoring program for new Ts. Mentor Ts got training & we got some sub coverage to go out & observe other Ts and discuss. It was awesome. My mentor is still one of my biggest supporters and that was 20+ years ago (yikes). #nt2t
A3. I've been lucky to only have one principal who has been supportive of strengths, challenges in areas of growth and is open/supportive to ideas and solutions. Not overbearing and trusts us to do our work. Makes it easier. #nt2t

I am fortunate enough to now work along side people who were my teachers not so long ago, who don’t realize the impact they have had on my life. Totally agree with you #nt2t

I am so grateful to the students I taught, their parents, colleagues, school staff, and of course my awesome PLN for connecting, sharing and support. Our Gratitude page https://t.co/YKx9Ooweut All have had such positive effects on me. #nt2t
I subbed a bit in the high school where I attended. It was . . . weird. The teachers were all very nice. It was weird to me to have them insist I call them by their first names. LOL #nt2t

A4) When students achieve a set goal with leaps and bounds, continuously make progress in an area of concern, show what has been learned in his/her writing, I am affected positively.#Nt2T
A2: Colleagues can collaboriate together and have great outcomes. There can also be a great support system without your own work place, however, I have heard it is best to stay clear of the teacher lounge. Guard yourselves of negativity. #nt2t
Ah. Cool. We've had the same principal in our elementary school since our high school freshman started kindergarten. With a second kid there now, it really feels like it brings continuity. #nt2t
A4: My students motivate me everyday. I love when they can feel comfortable in my room and air out concerns or just be silly. I am fortunate enough to work 1 on 1 with most of my ss so that helps. They keep me knowing my "why". #nt2t
A4: When Ss succeed, whether academically or otherwise, it fuels my fire to keep going no matter what I may be told by others. Likewise, when they don't succeed, it informs my methods. #Nt2t
A4: Students affect me positively as an educator if they openly and honestly express their opinions towards me and ... because then I get the important information about what they need from me
#nt2t
I think it depends on the school and its culture. If people are just venting constsantly in the T lounge & being negative, avoid it. Otherwise, it's a good place to connect with colleagues. #nt2t

Next week we are mixing things up at #NT2t! With Thanksgiving in the US, we will be doing a slow chat throughout the week. We hope to see your contributions whenever you have a chance!
Unfortunately, to quote the great George Strait... this is where the cowboy rides away... thanks everyone for another awesome #nt2t chat. Enjoy the weekend
A5: Parents affect me positively as an educator when they honestly tell me what effects our educational actions at school have on their child ... the question is always: what can we do better?
#nt2t
A5) Parents & communities that get the ard work that educators are doing & appreciate the growth that students make are the best. Also great when Ps give info about students that helps me work with them more effectively. #nt2t
Just heard a great presentation from @julnilsmith on reaching introverts in our classrooms. Sometimes we forget that we have Ts who are introverts. Just because Ts interact w/ people all day doesn’t mean they’re extroverts. #nt2t
In reply to
@OohShiny_Sarah, @JeremyDBond, @julnilsmith
That said, I think there’s a specific weirdness to working in an almost all-female workplace. The pressure to do the potlucks and secret Santa, etc. is something I never felt working w men - but I pay for not participating. #nt2t

#nt2t
A5 Parents & Community provide support beyond the classroom. We should be able to depend on them to carry out what’s taught in school so that students see those real life concepts/experiences at work #nt2t
A6) The people met around the world on Twitter chats, such as #Nt2T are probably looking for similar answers to said questions. What a wonderful way to solve them. I can imagine it, "I got this idea from an educator from ___, and it works!" #Nt2T
A2. Colleagues can help buy positively offering ideas and information that can help benefit all the children in that gray level or class. They also act as a sounding board and someone that can help solve problems but also relieved. #nt2t
So many great ways to do this w/ the tech available. All Ss should have a digital portfolio, maybe create blogs, just sharing a class Instagram/Twitter account so parents always have a window into your class in a positive way. #nt2t
The question I was waiting for!
A5) Ideally you're all in this together. As partners in education, as influencers on the same children you teach, you all share at least one goal: The success of those children. If it feels collaborative, you're supporting one another. #nt2t
A5. The Parents’s can affect to positively by showing up and helping their children succeed. To meet one of the greatest gifts as an educator is to watch Parents become educators themselves. #nt2t
Yeah, I can see that. The one school where I regularly ate lunch in Ts lounge, we had a NFL pool fundraiser thing for a scholarship. No secret Santa thing though one year we did do a potlluck before winter break. It was a HS so probably about evenly split male and female. #nt2t
A2. My family supports me as an educator in a positive way by listening and also they are encouraging on some of the rougher days. My husband listens and just reminds me of the joy that comes from teaching my kids but also the goals that I have and helps remind me of these. #nt2t
A4. My students are the reasons that I do what I do! They learn so quickly and just provide the CataList to continue each and every day, even on the most stressful ones. #nt2t
A3. Adamant affects the quality and morale of the school. They are vital and making sure that students and teachers are supported in the journey. One can only hope that their principal is positive and encouraging that type of teamwork. #nt2t
a6: #nt2t was the first twitter chat I did and I have been addicted ever since. My PLN is amazing. I cannot even tell you how much I have learned from all of you. I love building my pln because I have learned from each and every one of you. Thank you. #nt2t
A6) A Twitter connection led to my current job. When I was teaching for an online charter school & kind of isolated from other Ts, Twitter helped me stay connected to larger education community. #nt2t

A6 in addition to our own colleagues, there is further validation & support, but also a sense of community & a great way to exchange ideas & resources! #nt2t
A6. Twitter as well as other social media is great in that gives teachers and other occupations and extra outlet to turn to for ideas, support and encouragement #nt2t
Peeps, PLEASE continue telling people that you learned or got so-and-so from Twitter. Even if you're saying it all the time. Because it's that useful and people should know it till they're sick of hearing it! #nt2t

A6 The impact of the people I have 'met' through twitter chats has been amazing! I talk to people all over the world and learn from them. They inspire and motivate and stop me living in my own bubble. They challenge and educate me and I am forever grateful! #nt2t
A6: This is my first experience with a twitter chat like #nt2t and I can say it has been really nice to be a part of. The questions have generated great responses to apply in our own lives and everyone seems really supporting.
Challenge: Make a positive impact on an educator here by tweeting about ONE thing you have achieved in your classes this year. Don’t forget to include the hashtag #nt2t
I don't know how to say "Twitter changed my life" without it sounding like hyperbole. But... yeah.
I can't imagine not being part of this community. It's brought growth in my professional identity and I'm connected to SO many people I wouldn't have otherwise. #nt2t A6

I wouldn't be part of @ParentCamp. I wouldn't even know about edcamps. Sure, I wouldn't be shivering in a corner somewhere without Twitter, but it's certainly made me a part of something I would have never understood. I thank all of you for being a part of that! #nt2t
A5 was family, right? They give me strength. My children, as they have grown, have given me perspective on education experiences and ideas, in ways that my students have not. They give me laughter. #nt2t
Special invite to all the #Nt2t folks! Please join us for a great #NISDEdChat with Jimmy Casas to share ideas about building school culture! Here are the details!
