today: If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
Wow! One test after another for you!
Good morning friends! David from rainy VA here. How are we this AM?

today: If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
How many redhead & thin boys w/ dark hair/freckles did Hitler/Holocaust to death to create teen LGBT amid AIDS homophobia?
Good morning from Massachusetts!
Brian, HS principal
Good morning Lori from Ohio happy to be here with you all!
Good Morning Stacey from NJ.
Good morning, Friends. Veronica from NJ. Testfree till tomorrow.
its not bad yet but it will come soon enough.
Thanks, Cynthia! You are the best! :)
Quick Question: anyone know where I can listen to Echo by Pam munoz?
Good morning, ! Brenda from Massachusetts glad to join you today!
good morning! I never woke up this early while on my spring break last week.
:0) Yay for the positive attitude!
Can somebody give me examples of what the question is looking for?
Good Morning! Also on vacation this week but gotta' love that internal alarm!
A kit that inspired Ts to prioritize RELATIONSHIPS first in order to gather data about how their Ss learn.
I have such trouble sleeping, just glad to have slept through the night!
I took Spring Break off too😛 https://t.co/DYlAjoN3Kd
good morning! I never woke up this early while on my spring break last week.
Good morning, most awesome educators! Ellen from NC.
Good to be back... happy morning.
I try. how goes the sketchnoting?
Good morning friends. Don't have much to say on this morning's topic, so I may be lurking.
Then that's a blessing! https://t.co/2Fh2YCCV7U
I have such trouble sleeping, just glad to have slept through the night!
Morning All... My name is Dave and I'm looking for a new teaching gig in MA. Trying to get back into twitter
Hey, David! Doing well here in NJ. How are you?
I went to bed at 1pm doing correction last night. Now I want to sleep but everyone is doing things
I let each S use whatever materials I or they have in order to MAKE the projects we work on...I assume that's gets to this Q?
I am guessing on the answer, I would love to borrow someone's google hang out and their 3d printer.
I'd like to really personalize PD, and other than en edcamp type format for a full day of PD, I'm not sure how to get there.
Also just posted a new bog about anxiety in the classroom. Check it out if you're bored later today https://t.co/ErJXlpXDAR
Great to meet you, Brenda!
I wonder ... if you have to get the "Personalized Learning Kit" from the district ... How "personalized" can it be?
Yesterday was day 11...love all the learning! Are you starting? 's starts on the 19th.
Morning Dave you've come to the right place ! PS
Gm ! Josh learner from NJ. Ready to start my day with a quick dose of PD to sustain me.
Our system just bought something called PD360. It is all online, not sure how it will work yet.

My kit would have Chromebooks, Chromebooks and more Chromebooks; 3D printer; Laser cutter/engraver
is a great place to start.
Hey peeps! Long time no see. Grad school has wreaked havoc on my sleep patterns!
Doing great! Starting to get ready for testing season.
i'm thinking of starting something but its not very realistic. maybe committing to breakfast everyday.
I come from a monstrous district ... by the time "personalized" is discovered and then rolls down to me it is outdated.
Your picture yesterday took my breath away. I so appreciate your daily positivity my friend.
Good morning . Elisa, 5th grade teacher, in Quito, Ecuador.
I had investigated PD360 several years ago....it will be interesting to see what you think.
so build it in your school.
If you make it, I think it counts...even if you don't!
Good Morning all! Gina from Cincy here! Happy Tuesday!
Honestly wish I could be Pd credits for all the chats I do! Best learning ever!
A maker kit so I could get to know Ss & how they like to create things. Then we could build relationships & design learning.
And that's so unfortunate.... https://t.co/MnRQlIkEXF
I come from a monstrous district ... by the time "personalized" is discovered and then rolls down to me it is outdated.
I guess I look at it as having anything we'd like in the classroom & not having to pay for it.
Some districts are doing this...
I think there are ways to do that considering your state.
Not sure about exact definition of a "personalized learning kit," but know a makerspace starts with what you have.
Not sure I understand concept, but would bring a mindfulness component...focus, experiment, reflect, repeat https://t.co/27jxVYI8u6
today: If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
I would love to spend a day in school. I hear about and see so many amazing things from this school!
Each teacher should be building their own kit ... instead of What's in your wallet? ... What's in your kit?
Grad school has a tendency to do that!
Same for us. Some of our schools have started already...Our HSs start next week.
Ironic, we are educators but struggle to have quality pd....
Good Morning, . I'm Ku, Learning Coach, Argentina. Great question!
Probably not in my district. :(
giving all Ss an equal shot and availability to tech inside & outside of classroom
That is one seriously cool profile pic. I have such a fascination with space exploration.
You can! Do you follow ? He has an opportunity thru Liberty Learning where you can get credit https://t.co/KZuyxA2SnN
Honestly wish I could be Pd credits for all the chats I do! Best learning ever!
We should totally do that. all of us just drop in.
Good morning ! This chat and Twitter are the BEST "personalized learning kits"...on demand, just-in-time collaboration!
So very true! That is why twitter is just perfect!
We can't mandate "personalized"? That has to be discovered and fostered ... is your training doing that?
Jumping in for first . Pauline from Maine
I was thinking the same thing! Personalized means it connects each S with what they care about. Customized engagement.
I haven't found the question yet so I guess I'm lurking, too. :)
Any day in which Brian is a part is A GOOD DAY ->
Amen!!! https://t.co/RTf9i97eWR
Good morning ! This chat and Twitter are the BEST "personalized learning kits"...on demand, just-in-time collaboration!
It's crazy how we complain @ not enough time to teach the curriculum then we test for 6 wks
My district had pd360 for a few yrs. If used & used as intended, great PD tool. I loved it!
Add Dennis to your kit ->
This is one of our goals to build a Teaching Tool Kit. The power behind it is Voice & Choice. This includes wide array of PLCs.
You've come to the right place. These are the most awesome educators around.
Good morning, Ellen! I'm so glad. Love that we can share positivity and encourage one another. It's what it's all about!
Teachers need to be given the time and space to find PD on their own. thats hard to do under out current system.
Welcome to . We're glad you're here!
As Educators, we need to STOP relying on others for our content ... its called Google
A: I would borrow a customized classroom...a special (and comfortable) place for special people.
Was hoping to not pay for it. I own the book!
Here's this morning's topic for those of you looking. https://t.co/6iFo5TnChw
today: If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
My personalised learning would involve anything where I can talk and bounce ideas of others
I think I'd be happy just to start a conversation about district PD that included the word "personalized"
We stopped using PD360 because it was foolish to pay for that and Teachscape Learn at same time
I would bring Twitter 4 Ts.
I know he's hosted Ts from my school.
Subscribed and will listen today! This is awesome!
I have the tools and maker supplies, but I sure could use some time to prepare, plan and consult others!
If you could get to NC I am sure I could get you 3D printer privileges:)
THANKS! I have a student that loves to Photoshop. Fave mashups? Whoopi Goldberg + Renaissance paintings.
True, but how much do we ask of our students? Do we ask more of them than we ask of ourselves? Be honest.
I would like enough computers and iPads to be 1:1. Using Google classroom, Kahoot, seesaw, etc. students to create requires tech..
I hear you. It's s huge chunk of time.
We're thinking about focusing it on guided inquiry cycle. There will also be tools/resources in tech/assessment later down road.
I just posted it. I don't even know what a personalized learning kit is! Lol.
The one thing I would want in a personalized learning kit is time.
Edcamp ..... That's exactly what we do in an edcamp and it's empowering! https://t.co/57BQszvkag
My personalised learning would involve anything where I can talk and bounce ideas of others
we started planning the honeymoon this week. testing is a nice excuse to daydream.
Thank you! I welcome any candid feedback you can provide on how I can improve...Cheers!
I'll take a go at this.. I want to have a way 4 Ss 2 move quicker if it fits them -beyond differentiation.Perhaps online supplement.
Thought of that! Not available yet at my library! Going to stop by lib today and see if it is on CD
Thought of that! Not available yet at my library! Going to stop by lib today and see if it is on CD
Have a great day everyone!!
You're funny, too. I'll bet your blog is far from boring.
Yes exactly that's the beauty of them https://t.co/KW8culmJqF
Edcamp ..... That's exactly what we do in an edcamp and it's empowering! https://t.co/57BQszvkag
My personalised learning would involve anything where I can talk and bounce ideas of others
Currently, we have PLCs in Differentiation, Guided Inquiry, Visible Thinking. Anything we can do to help Ts & Ss to grow.
Some of us do and some of us dont. that is a small factor of PD though.
Teaching can be isolating at times so sharing ideas is so important
Perfect, esp since it's so hard to dedicate any portion of your brain to anything besides the test!
Hi Connie jumping in way late-still recouping from a weekend of greatness! What's the topic>
Yup..the book is not available yet.
First steps are important, Dan.
Everything has a beginning.
...and targeted to meet a specific need, from expert practitioners from across the planet. How cool is that?!
My room would have chromebooks. Would love a makerspace, but Ss need chromebooks. Don't all have devices. https://t.co/lgrTq0KmxV
A: I would borrow a customized classroom...a special (and comfortable) place for special people.
I think that's a good place to start. I'm enjoying Unshakable. Maybe her blog could help you.
I would like to get a number of sets. Need to learn and get my Ts & Ss to start coding in a game like format.
you said it! I think we are having those conversations - change takes time.
I hope this gives us the latitude we expect it to! Def worth a try. A move in the right direction.
When teachers r ok with slamming kids with hours of homework but complain when asked 2 learn on their own? https://t.co/oBDBam4PKh
wouldn't that be wonderful? I have no iPads, 3 outdated desktops in my class, & limited access to laptop cart.
Lego have produced a movie maker app for iPad for stop motion movies. Could be useful in class.
Are you able to get grants to pilot this? Doing a pilot will support risk-taking!
You never know when your nudges will make another's day:)
Ah. Now I get it. I'm lucky that I can personalize being in a Catholic school then.
That's why it's so important to take time to visit a peer's classroom - watch, listen, grow. Best/most underutilized PD.
Must go. Day 2 of computer based testing. Time to set up the laptops! Have a great day everyone! https://t.co/YzO5O1XUy3
My k-5 school is dev Makerspace-awesome-but limits x Ss/40min block.Currently adding mobile stations which Ts can booker their room
That is just unfair to the Ss & frustrating for the T. So many ways to enhance and support learning but equipment is key.
Have a great day everyone! C U in the AM!
Thanks, Everybody. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Have a great day ! I need more coffee before proctoring today...
Have a great day ! I need more coffee before proctoring today...
Love this Melissa! I totally believe in the power of a smile! Laughter too! Medicine for the Mind, Body & Soul!
Lego have produced a movie maker app for iPad for stop motion movies. Could be useful in class. Pic attached https://t.co/pGE6dIwQ7B
Happy Tuesday Time to get ready to my brain...only two more days to go after this!
Happy Tuesday Time to get ready to my brain...only two more days to go after this!
Yes! Walk away from the one-size-sits all textbook & customize resources for each S.
Make it a good one all. Off to the pool and then to setup for day two of PARCC
If ur admin doesn't make time 2 understand the potential of PD360 2 help Ts & self, tool will b futile
Dinner is hitting the table
Seafood Laska
Must go
Have a great day, everyone ! Would like to start a resource bank for . Is there one already?
Yep! As long as you believe it's possible and stick with it, it will happen.
Besides, you've got us for support. :)
Have a great day everyone! I am off to read in the quiet!
I would include time 4 conversations, an iPad, time for real learning co-designed by Ts and Ss not learning aimed at tests.
that makes perfect sense. But we cant stop letting schools know what we need to get better either.
We just shifted to Teacher Driven PD in our school-admin taking more of a hands-off approach. !
If teachers ask kids to learn new things but won't learn new things themselves, credibility is lost. how dare they!
Let's go forth with the challenge to continue to build our own "personalized learning kits" with colleagues and kids! Happy Tuesday!
Is this an in-service / PD for advising re: College applications.
I bought 2 Dot & Dash sets to start coding fun. Just completed 1st round of capture kingdom game. https://t.co/5AdZY01zbG
There's something about seeing someone smile or just reading the word that makes us smile, too. 😊
So powerful!
don't forget, more convo over at spark chat and the lounge for other topics
You speak the TRUTH, my friend!
Absolutely, schools/district need to the risk taking culture and help with the resources I NEED ...
Thank you . Have a . Today is Tuesday.
you're telling me! I need to find a grant and just get my own set! Lol.
and the sad part ... the kids hear them complaining ...why should the kids try something new when the teachers won't
Will have to discuss the possibility with my district's grant team. Why didn't I think of that before. Thanks!
Remember that it doesn't have to be expensive or high tech. Start with what you have and build a culture of MAKING w/ Ss.
we need more teacher sharing and less Admin/Trainer talking
You made my day, Ellen!
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
Makes kids believe learning isn't really valid. When teachers say learn, but won't themselves, school looks unimportant
Thanks for beginning my day with such kindness! https://t.co/zpiDQOU0QG
Any day in which Brian is a part is A GOOD DAY ->
You, too! ( is awesome, BTW!)
Agree w you. We need to model tching & lrning w/Ss. We are currently learning the green screen. https://t.co/BCKHi1aioo
good morning! Cindy from VA here- More mini-iPads for K-2 (right now each class has 2) For grades 3-4 -chrome books. Push 1:1 more
We are borrowing walkthrough model of teacher pairs from bc teachers learn best from each other https://t.co/RI8XuHI1A3
today: If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
if I win the lottery, I'll make a personal donation!! However, I think I need to buy a ticket to win!!
My school is trying to carve PD time during staff mtg, learning from one another. Just taught Ts how to Kahoot and use
I've been looking for a wiki, but haven't found 1. It would b great 2 have a collab place to drop resources!
I'm not sure if this is asking for kids or myself. However, for me, I'd just like time to talk to other teachers and learn from them
Thanks for chat. Getting ready for school, have a great day.
we could even use a google doc
Have 4 Lcarts, 1 Ipadcart 2 share. 2minis & a Promethean 4 each. More devices but not enuf support. https://t.co/0GEB4sW3Q7

topic: If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
We tried our 1st Edcamp style PD on Friday & it was super! Time to talk & learn from each other https://t.co/cMuT84f3Vi
Yes! EduLeaders implementing bold vision need 2 support TsSs co-creating a culture of learning & creativity https://t.co/aJbAYAi2fs
This is one of our goals to build a Teaching Tool Kit. The power behind it is Voice & Choice. This includes wide array of PLCs.
A: I'm anxious to try iPads in early childhood classrooms to do Literacy Playshops (Check out Karen Wohlwend's book )
Today : If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
For starters, all of 'em. (I'm the guy who strolls around the buffet before fetching a plate.) https://t.co/uHlXXzbAeN
Today : If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
Good morning! Used to miss Outer Borough <> Nassau County commute. Thanks to you, Cathy, it feels back in my life.
In a friendly way, I question this: "students to create requires tech." Be creative re: creating? 1/2
Tech you describe can open new doors to create. Also abundant alternative doors en route to 1:1. 2/2
Might even just be different tech (i.e. not plugged in), rather than non-tech :)
And often connects creators to potentially vast audiences more easily.
hmmm I would leave that up to the kids which would mean it would probably have to do with Minecraft!
I would want 1:1 Chromebooks w tech support for my classes. Then I'd work w/ Ss to create, make, & design their own learning
today- If you could borrow a district "personalized learning kit" what devices/maker materials/tools would you want to try in class?
It is indeed! The teachers are asking for more, more, more! So happy to have discovered this https://t.co/QU4gWdaR5U
I'd love to see a trunk full of sailor's navigation aides: Ss to interact with maritime maps, star charts, astrolabe and sextant
An artist's trunk with oils, canvas, brushes, clay, etc to experiment with perpective, classical architecture and Renaissance ways
A mobile science/physics lab for usein the world history classroom
Similar to the "teaching trunks" for other topics, I'd like one with objects, art, writing, pics, books related to GLOBAL SLAVERY
a "personalized learning kit" from the perspective of those colonized on the Indian subcontinent - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh
