A1: I am a huge Swivl Cam fan...you can record yourself...even side by side with a presentation and either watch in real time or upload to the cloud! It is easy and fast! #PatinsIcam
A1: As a SpEd Teacher, I used to pre-record my lessons with my SmartBoard software and a headset mic tethered to my huge desktop computer...Yes, that was a long time ago! But I could send these videos home and/or ask my sub to simply play them.
#PatinsIcam
I learn so much every time I record myself...a lot of what NOT to do! HA HA! It is a great tool for self reflection AND sharing for the greater good! #PatinsIcam
A1: My Ss post me to snap as well and share things w/Ss who have a difficult time getting to school. Having access anywhere/anytime to ed tools is super important or ALL Ss #PatinsIcam
A2: I also love the idea of using “fake messaging” to teach how the tone via text can be misinterpreted, etc. It’s a relevant convo to have with ALL Ss & this is a good tool for that https://t.co/fMsXYfr07Q#PatinsIcam
A2: YouTube videos... with captions turned on... Bitmoji of students and myself...borrowing cool tech from @PATINSPROJECT to engage Ss... but im still learning... hence hanging with you experts! 😉😉😉😁😁 #PatinsIcam
Being a teacher who moves around a lot, I dont have much time to engage a lot of Ss with one single tech idea, i love using iPad apps and games for my pullout sessions #PatinsIcam
A2: Such a HARD question! I can say that Ss will not usually be engaged by tools that are 1. not socially valid and/or 2. don't allow them to demonstrate their understanding. #PatinsIcam
#PatinsIcam A3: WeVideo has some great interaction. But I tend to go back to Google products as we are a Gsuite district. Taking those items the student know and use them in new ways. Then they are not trying to learn a new skill and tool at the same time.
A3: anything Google related because there is a messaging area that allows students to discuss in class and out of class, also comes in handy for DHH kiddos who use Sign Lang As a way to communicate! #PatinsIcam
A3: Google Docs is an excellent way for students to work on a document together and they can use built in accessibility tools such as Voice Typing. #PatinsIcam
A3: I feel like most tech is set up for collaboration and the best part is the conversation can continue after the school day ends - Padlet, Lino, Flipgrid, shared docs & slides, Twitter #PatinsIcam
A4: Twitter of course! And things like @remind but truly I have my parents on text...set up a google phone number if you don’t want folks to have your digits BUT mine is out there, I use true caller app so kids don’t prank call me! Lol #PatinsIcam
#PatinsIcam A4: Going where the parents are...Facebook has become a great conduit. Instagram for students. Getting the message out is challenging with so much coming at us and them.
A4: I love using REMIND! it's a great way to get ahold of parents! You can message just like texting but without sharing phone numbers! It can be a group message or individual! #PatinsIcam
A4: ClassDojo for regular communication. The Microsoft Translator app would be great for communication w/ parents that don't speak your native language! #PatinsIcam
Agreed. I wish my brain could process info quickly enough to respond right away, but that just isn't possible for most of us if we are truly listening to what's being said #PatinsIcam
A5: #PatinsIcam Google Forms is really my go to. Students know it and you can do so much more with it each day. The ability to sort answers. But integrated assessments @PearDeck is the way to go. Realtime feedback quickly and easily.
A5: I used to use interactive whiteboard recording feature to capture student work as it happened. I also love https://t.co/wlzoO5b1gD and https://t.co/hRELQszb5y, utilizing the devices that Ss already have in their pockets and are connected to! #PatinsIcam
A5: I normally do a checklist on my iPad and run through it in the class. I do a lot of observations and goal checking! I also use apps that track progress, ex: math app I use shows % correct for math facts #PatinsIcam
A5: Flipgrid - love that peers can watch other videos and teachers can give quick feedback and can I say this one more time... CAPTIONS feature!! :) #patinsicam
