#NVedchat is dedicated to increasing communication and collaboration of education related topics in the State of Nevada. Originally, created by Mr. Snehal Bhakta.
A1-Everything in education should be #creativity...even tests...they can be at least. It is the backbone of learning, otherwise, education is just memorizes facts which is not fun. #NVedchat
A1: I think creativity with academic freedom is important for Ts to feel satisfied and ownership of lessons, creativity for Ss to be able to show learning in different ways #NVedchat
It looks like a lot of things - methodology (Ts), personalized projects for Ss. Currently, Ss are doing superhero crosses in bio, all so different. Ss are designing their own projects using coding, books, writing, designing board games. #NVedchat
Couldn't agree any more! Sometimes we lose focus on the application piece...that's probably why I love #CareerTechEd because it has to be there in order to be successful. #NVedchat
When I taught @PLTWorg, same thing. There is always the real world application piece. This is what is missing to engage Ss in their own learning. #NVedchat
A2-I really think assessments-the way they are today, stops #creativity. Is there really only 1 answer to every problem or an infinite amount of ways to get to there...? #NVedchat
A2 Sometimes we feel like we are "behind" and feel there are quicker and less creative ways to "catch up" but often this learning isn't as meaningful and not as beneficial in the long run #NVedchat
Anyone knows there are an infinite number of ways of doing something. IF it can be justified and yet the answer isn’t exactly correct, doesn’t mean that it is wrong. Justify. That’s what’s wrong with standardized testing. #NVedchat
LECTURES…They are boring and they take students from active to passive learners. They are no longer discovery, but are being told what to know. #NVedchat
A2 Cultural proclivities toward the more wrote teaching modes. These expectations are set by the powerful leaders of the tribe and can be brutally enforced at times. #nvedchat
R3: who decides whether something is “messy?” The custodians? The admins? The teacher next door? It’s about what engages Ss in their learning and makes them excited to come to your class. #NVedchat
A3-pt2-I had students redesign a computer lab we planned for it to take a day. It took 3. Therefore, I conducted the rest of the classes in the hallway. Yeah it wasn't fun, but told my principal that it was part of process for both students and me as an educator. #NVedchat
A3. For some, it’s a reason why. For others I think it’s not knowing where to start. Trying new creative things can be exciting as well. You don’t know what the Ss will produce. Of course that could be a drawback for some. #NVedchat
A3: YES, one literal mess of a lesson involved 4th grade Ss multiplying a single-serve shortcake recipe (multiplying fractions) by the number of Ss in the group to make enough for everyone: salt, sugar, milk, and flour everywhere, but memorable! #NVedchat
When I was an admin, messy to me was when you ha unsanitary things in your room. If there were things that made a fire hazard. Other than that, get as messy as you want. #NVedchat
Q4-How do you manage your #creative process so that you don't lose your passion for it? (where do you spend most of your time on chart and why?) #NVedchat
Ts can feel confined to district pacing guides - wouldn't it be nice to pace around Ss needs?! That would be a first step to #creativity! (IMO) #nvedchat

I apologize for jumping in very late. Tika, an elementary educator from Las Vegas. This conversation is exactly what the book #wildcard by @hopekingteach and @WadeKing7 is all about. #NVEdchat
A2 Judgement and fear of failure keeps us in the box. As a related aside, Pink Floyd were so far ahead of their time with Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2. #NVedchat
A4-Today was one of those days that I was in the yellow/green area even though I was in the blue because of someone else we got pushed into crisis mode. However, taking a step back, we found creative solutions that we had never thought of to solve problems...not bad! #NVedchat

R4: my fav is the goof off stage. I let my mind wander in that area and come up with some really creative stuff. That’s why I let my Ss listen to music or surf the net during my class because I never know if and when something will engage them at the creativity level #NVedchat

Just caught the last five minutes or so of what looked like a pretty good chat. Always great to power up with my #NVedchat tribe on Monday night. Have a great week.
A4: I struggle with this, not so much "goofing off" but keeping my head above water with other responsibilities at school. Most creative ideas come to me on the drive to work the day of the lesson, then I spend the rest of the am scrambling around to change the lesson #NVedchat

Q4-How do you manage your #creative process so that you don't lose your passion for it? (where do you spend most of your time on chart and why?) #NVedchat
A3. Being creative doesn’t necessarily mean throwing all the rules out the window, you still have to know what end result you’re looking for. If you don’t, then things get messy and it will be more work sorting things out and trying to fix them. #NVedchat
A4 I manaage the #creative process by prioritizing and determining will it inspire my Ss to learn more. #NVedchat I have done room transformations, performance tasks, gamification, and dress up.

It takes the whole enchilada to be purposeful and creative in our actions to support Ss ownership of their learning. Have a wonderfully creative rest of the week #NVedchathttps://t.co/70N2a2g5nH
If you’re looking for ways to disrupt your grade level meetings or Ss thinking #nvedchat@NevadaEdChat folks we just put out a disruption deck. It’s $1 with code gravy. Always looking for feedback too!
A2 #creativity can be hindered by closed minded people that try to block those that are trying. Growth is a process, challenge so sometimes when first step is not perfect others will use it to try to dissuade you from continuing. Don’t let them #GrowthMindset#NVedchat
A3 I personally love the messy process but hate time constraints. You need time to be creative & learn so sometimes I get frustrated because I have a limited time with my students do explore new concepts & emerging #technology#NVedchat
A4 Not sure if it’s goofing off but I do spend a lot of time researching, emerging myself in topic. I find by the time I hit a deadline my problem is I have too much information & have to narrow. Great for presentations though because I’m ready for questions 👍 #NVedchat
