Good morning friends! Happy Monday!
I love this question. I think we could all stand to say "thank you" more in education.
I grew up in Missouri so I'm used to it!
Good morning friends. I think one of the most powerful ways to show is to really listen
Little things like smiles and greeting one another.
Good morning ! Katie from NY. Ready to !
I think so, too. Too many people are leaving the profession because of unhappiness. https://t.co/omc47bkoMt
I love this question. I think we could all stand to say "thank you" more in education.
Maybe invite them here! https://t.co/Q5o2MR33ys
Happy Monday! Today's topic: "What're some small but powerful ways to show care & kindness to our colleagues, bosses, employees?"
Amen brother. Just finished my 3rd cup. Thought about trying to lick the bottom. ;)
Good morning friends, happy Monday!!
Leave little messages in their mailboxes or notes on their desks letting them know how important they are
https://t.co/5x5I8JRJGu
Happy Monday! Today's topic: "What're some small but powerful ways to show care & kindness to our colleagues, bosses, employees?"
Imagine a thank you notes instead of a walkthrough observation once in a while.
I know we are so busy. I know sometimes I forget to do that. I am working on it! https://t.co/jZzcQOeSml
Little things like smiles and greeting one another.
Good morning everyone! I hope your weekend was fantastic!
Good morning, ! Cathy from South Jersey, Grade 8 ELA.
I like to give favorite candy to my colleagues.
that was going to be my response. A thank you goes a long way!
By bringing my best every day...no excuses. Being present (sans the cell phone), positive, focused, and thankful. It's contagious.
Just say a brief, kind, & unexpected word. It goes a long way
And actually listen when you ask "how are you?" https://t.co/4NETN65Mex
I love this question. I think we could all stand to say "thank you" more in education.
This may be too simple a response...showing kindness and respect can involve listening without judgment.
I baked cookies for some of my Ts to thank them for signing up for my Google Classroom. But notes, hugs, & smiles go a long way too!
Writing specific notes about something you've noticed.
Thank yous, smiles, and chocolates go a long way
I'm always sure to say Good Morning and take the time to "be there" in the conversation, not just faking it because I'm busy
By noticing the difference between venting once in a while and complaining.
Not too simple at all Chris!! Love it!
Good morning from western MA. Fall is here! It's a small thing, but eye contact and "hello" in the hallway makes a difference!
And teachers should say thank you to admin more often too. We have a tendency to treat them as though they aren't in this too.
Yes. That presence is so important. Makes a difference.
Happy Monday !!
Brian, HS principal from Massachusetts, ready to start the week!
Yes indeed! The key there is listening. True listening.
Staff, Ts, and Ss can nominate Ts for good things we do. Looking forward to seeing what others have been up to.
Saying thank you unexpectedly can really make someone's day, too.
Love this! https://t.co/44Cp7HBtx5
By bringing my best every day...no excuses. Being present (sans the cell phone), positive, focused, and thankful. It's contagious.
Hello . I'm Ku, Learning Coach, Argentina. Happy Monday!
I put every staff members b-day on my calendar as a recurring event. Each day I send a b-day e-mail. Simple way to rec. peeps
Oh that would be awesome! I'm getting observed 3 times this week... and I've got 20 years under my belt! https://t.co/edanCom7N1
Imagine a thank you notes instead of a walkthrough observation once in a while.
. & committee are reasons to great weekend of celebration & elevation! https://t.co/XTPYb3EGp3
God's morning . Stacey from NJ, tired after a long and rewarding weekend with some of the BEST educators in PA and NJ!
I host parties for staff. Each year I do a pamper party with massage, pedicures etc. We do Friday "teas" in the staff room too.
Good morning Tracy from MA here
Couldn't agree with you more, Ryan. Being in the moment for people is so important https://t.co/3kYsqmQNao
Good morning friends. I think one of the most powerful ways to show is to really listen
How about saying thank you to your students when a lesson goes well.
yes for sure, 2 way street https://t.co/K9K2r7YfiX
And teachers should say thank you to admin more often too. We have a tendency to treat them as though they aren't in this too.
I think the nonjudgmental listening is huge. And sometimes really difficult. For me. https://t.co/ASquy8ysvT
This may be too simple a response...showing kindness and respect can involve listening without judgment.
3 times in one week?! WTH that is a lot! holy cow
When a T miss school because is sick, always make a call or send a whatsapp with a get well message
Sweet- literally! https://t.co/rkuv9kD9Ew
I baked cookies for some of my Ts to thank them for signing up for my Google Classroom. But notes, hugs, & smiles go a long way too!
Good Morning Almost Missed it! Food, Coffee, And time. Those are the little things that show appreciation.
Our MS has "pride paws" that are given out to Ss & Ts for random acts of kindness. https://t.co/FM9nzftH5w
school has handed out cards to go along with small random acts of kindness, like getting a coffee or note of thanks… https://t.co/yMTJI0uP2D
yes all the time praise & thanks for a good lesson https://t.co/NqAEr6mf5T
How about saying thank you to your students when a lesson goes well.
You can support them by asking about their families--relating in a way that doesn't just center around work.
I like to sometimes just ask "How's it going?" Especially to a colleague who has a more challenging class. We're in this together.
the BEST thing you can do for an educator is get them more time.
So true - too many educators don't feel appreciated
Put a post-it on their desks with a word of thanks.
I agree. Sometimes Monday's are hard.
Celebrate when you see good teaching; inquire about their families; acknowledge their passions outisde of school.
A simple "thank you" or "you're doing awesome" delivered on a post note makes all the difference!
Morning! Compliment on what you like best about each other. Mood & self-esteem boost!
Yeah! I hope you have plenty of wine at home. wow
Listening, being there, giving support, acknowledging when something is good
Good morning - Marifran, hs librarian, trying to get back on a normal schedule (and failing)
Our new system is an extension of the Ss’ Spartan Cash cards. I think its a great idea.
BWAHAHAHA! Sorry, , but if I ask my super & principal, my 'nice thing' for the staff is I DON''T ask questions during fac mtgs!
Love them all Denis - TIME in particular and I'll add an ear to LISTEN & be actually be present when they're talking
I leave things in the staff room - food, silly putty, printed memes...a little appreciation or levity can go a long way.
Each year u add new people & delete those who have left. Takes 10 mins to do
I think that's a big thing. It says you care about more than just you.
I believe it's more about being mindful with staff than giving them tangible gifts.
listening, is sooooo important https://t.co/aFtUe82bYQ
Listening, being there, giving support, acknowledging when something is good
I always tell my admins to thank me with time and food...goes a long way.
exactly, Ts feel appreciated when you do that
I had a great weekend but I think it brought with it a lack of sleep and exhaustion.
Noticing and acknowledging goes a long way Post-it note, email, f2f thanks.
Or a walk through observation & then a note saying "thank you for ____" with specific positive observation
I was out last week and the messages, emails, etc. have made me feel special and missed. My colleagues maintain a culture of love.
A simple gesture can go a long way! Thanks for the idea, ! https://t.co/034U9WSP2K
Each year u add new people & delete those who have left. Takes 10 mins to do
love cookies ! https://t.co/Xv5FvAA4HW
I baked cookies for some of my Ts to thank them for signing up for my Google Classroom. But notes, hugs, & smiles go a long way too!
remembering b-days is big at our school too! https://t.co/eDDZV1DDEb
I put every staff members b-day on my calendar as a recurring event. Each day I send a b-day e-mail. Simple way to rec. peeps
Agree. Presence > presents
I will always be grateful for their belief in me. You're right. We all need gratitude.
I like to be treated like a professional. We all work hard. I appreciate not being micromanaged.
Be present, listen, give your time, smile w/ them laugh w/ them - appreciate them! :-)
Good morning friends. I'm on break this week but still made it, though a tad late!!
1/2 I like to make the library a gathering place for Ss & Ts - pot of coffee in the work room, snax...
The little things are so easy to forget when you're overwhelmed & stressed
I've only received a note in my mailbox for a program I did (for years) once. I was so thankful that admin acknowledged effort!
Gratitude. Gratitude. Gratitude.
Never ceases to surprise me how many people look down & keep walking on by. And my district isn't that large!
We also allow Ts to share their stories with community so that we can learn & have compassion for each other https://t.co/mHG2hRec89
My principal calls us the best staff in the state all the time. It isn't meaningless words b/c he backs it up by treating us as such
You aren't "that" teacher are you?
Exactly and unfortunately that is happening to a lot of us.
Kind words, little notes, high fives, lend an ear, spontaneous ukulele serenades :-)
never under estimate the power of a cancelled meeting ...
That sounds amazing. can I come?
G' morning, btw, . Have to head to NYC for some personal biz today. HATE missing a Monday. Wrong note to start the week. Unavoidable
how's it going is so powerful! Ts do appreciate it when you are right by their side
Hi, Ku! Happy to see you my friend:)
A hand written note can be VERY powerful. Takes 2 mins to write but I see them on Ts desks all the time
2/2 ... and a drawerful of whatever you might need: stain remover? got it. Pain reliever? yup. Sewing kit? one of those, too
A willingness to make time for our colleagues, despite our busyness, is often appreciated...so many have offered this to me! 😊
Great thanks! Getting ready for open house this week, How are things in your new job?
A personalized note is still meaningful to many. We use thank you notecards with Ss' artwork. I see them hanging on walls proudly
for me too - so easy to jump to conclusions or want to solve a problem quickly. Working hard on this one
Thanks Val. I just realized we never got a picture!
Specifically, thank people for trying new things. Encourage new ideas.
agree, which is exactly why we need to support one another. ! https://t.co/tOrX2NMhM1
The little things are so easy to forget when you're overwhelmed & stressed
All good! Our P does both & includes hi 5s! ps. Morning Everyone!
When my Ss write them to Ts, I have just slipped them in mailboxes, but I love this idea.
A handwritten note attached to a Hershey bar goes a long way about 3/4 into a no-prep day!
Our superintendent does that. It's such a heartfelt simple way to show kindness.
Worse. I don't just accept what I am told. I sometimes challenge underlying reasons.
I have flaws.
Break already? Did you start earlier than us? https://t.co/MBNhi46WVV
Good morning friends. I'm on break this week but still made it, though a tad late!!
A hand written note of appreciation goes a long way in expressing your thanks and gratitude.
Simple ways 2 show care: affirm success, be available to collaborate, listen.
Can I work in your building?! You sound like an amazing leader and principal!
yes. We started Aug. 1st.
THIS means so much! https://t.co/nZzjJUyKJL
A hand written note can be VERY powerful. Takes 2 mins to write but I see them on Ts desks all the time
Cancelling meetings when there is nothing to talk about. Not having meetings just to have them.
is now trending in USA, ranking 3
Biggest way to say thank you ... give me what I need ... say yes to the crazy requests
I think that's a positive !!!! https://t.co/KROoBrJUvA
Worse. I don't just accept what I am told. I sometimes challenge underlying reasons.
I have flaws.
THIS!!! https://t.co/wWDaJbv1d8
Cancelling meetings when there is nothing to talk about. Not having meetings just to have them.
After an obs put a post-it on the door to let Ss know how well they did & how much you appreciate their effort
I try to send a note after my walk through and make sure there are always goodies on PD days to make the day sweeter.
Any time it's individualized. Knowing a Ts favorite color or candy is easy and simple. Celebrate Ts often, not just a day.
Blog Post: https://t.co/CtBiuQjlLk Sometimes I think it's a miracle I made it past the 5 year mark. New teachers need our support.
Good morning to you it's been a while ... let them know by noticing the good stuff they do, door always ope… https://t.co/WoeNvzHXFc
I place little inspirational notes in the bathrooms, random acts if kindness...thank you notes and emails.
Nice - I like this idea David!
yes, an honest compliment can do wonders!
I gotta run. But my gut reaction to this question is to treat people like people not their role.
As coaches, anything we can do to empower Ts to do their job effectively. Listening about and sharing their achievements goes far
YES! Time is the most valuable thing you can give back! https://t.co/25A0A0q4Hw
Cancelling meetings when there is nothing to talk about. Not having meetings just to have them.
Going ok. Muddling through the newness of it all Good luck this week! https://t.co/E5vVvkvEeo

Our kind of people https://t.co/J6bfFgZj5e
Worse. I don't just accept what I am told. I sometimes challenge underlying reasons.
I have flaws.
Have to go guys, having water issues at my house, thanks to all of you for making me start on a positive note, have a lovely Monday
That's tricky when you take time for balance in your life and lose sleep. Are you wearing a Mets jersey?
Best response yet! I live for the day when my colleagues give me a ukulele serenade! :)
hope all is well ! https://t.co/sKgEzqUzzu
Have to go guys, having water issues at my house, thanks to all of you for making me start on a positive note, have a lovely Monday

Ummm, ....I prefer chocolate chip.... https://t.co/HUwL7FpgqH
I baked cookies for some of my Ts to thank them for signing up for my Google Classroom. But notes, hugs, & smiles go a long way too!
So important. These simple gestures definitely make Ts feel valued, wanted, and accepted in their work
Have a great day everyone!
Former school had a kudos box where we could recognize staff. Kudos list was emailed weekly. Recipients got a Kudos bar.
Nice! Hi Melissa! https://t.co/5bnAotid1v
I place little inspirational notes in the bathrooms, random acts if kindness...thank you notes and emails.
So funny that this is our discussion; spent this weekend planning once a week writing exercises with
Be a reason for others to smile. Sometimes all a person needs...
I love this idea! It is a simple way to say thank you https://t.co/vOkZfSEpBJ
After an obs put a post-it on the door to let Ss know how well they did & how much you appreciate their effort
Saying thank you when it is warranted not just because you have to ... too much appreciation gets to be a bit fake
Agreed! https://t.co/4tXiCK1sd7
I gotta run. But my gut reaction to this question is to treat people like people not their role.
I'm good. Hope you are too:)
Need to go. Thanks for giving me some pep this Monday morning
Yrs ago, I had an admin who did this - and stuck a copy in your file https://t.co/jzVB7bgseW
Imagine a thank you notes instead of a walkthrough observation once in a while.
I have a GREAT c-chip recipe!
This is great Manny! We need 2 encourage colleagues 2 take risks &try new things-scarey thing 4 many-we need 2 affirm them
I LOVE this idea! Worked for principals who have them just to have them; more of a power trip than moving forward
Enjoy the day friends. Back to work for me.
Have a great Monday, I'm off to find things to celebrate and appreciate today!
Agree this is precisely what Ts need!
We find that handwritten notes really are the exclamation mark to the work we achieve as Ts.
As teachers, we need to understand Admin is NOT the enemy, although they always seem to be the bearer of bad new.
Seriously? I can't mention the word Mets without you noticing:) Ystrday hurt, but I stand with my Phils
I appreciate being treated like a professional way more than any treats! ;)
Agree w/ many that surprise coffee, treats shared with ind, team, or faculty, & notes are great. Also: helping w/out being asked
Yes. My daughters have their gear on too. Just hope they don't have to go thru disappointing years like I did growing up

Sometimes being able to wear jeans and a sports jersey instead of business attire makes us feel good
Heading out. Make it a good week everyone.
Current school gave every staff member a thank you card to give to anyone on staff. Very powerfu! Got me thinking.
I don't know how you could possibly get to know every staff member like that. It would take a long time!
everyone! Do something nice for your peeps today!
We have a uke band at school. We meet once a week. Always lifts spirits!
boy did he understand it though !!
to be still when they are taking to u. no multi-tasking.

Last yr we had a staff shout out board in main office 2 show our gratitude & compliment our awesome Ts.
We'd love to have a connected educator like you on staff!
Saying good morning and greeting with an authentic smile, show them you are happy they're here
Have great week ! Showing Ss how much we appreciate their flexibility&patience w/small reward.Getting ready 2 move into new wing.
