Hi, edcampers! I'm Brian. I teach MS Ss Eng in CO. As for A1, I'd ♥ to subtract 21st cent bit from this phrase. Learners=learners
Yeah! Super hard to get middle shcoolers to make that leap, but when they do, WOW!
I like that definition! Always important that 21st century skills move beyond just the use of tech

A2 jigsaw pattern of learning and sharing, use to share ideas, create quality products which show understanding
A2: Use Docs & Slides and have Ss work together to create a final product as a whole group

A2. Docs and Slides are my favorites for mine to use themselves. I use Forms too and want them to create their own this year
A2: I've also had Ss collaborate on Google Drawings & left it on the board as almost like a virtual whiteboard for them

Hard to keep the two convos seperate! LOVE
Having them create their own Forms is really effective! Especially creating them for each other!
Esp. if doing anything with statistics. Provides easy way to gather info from diff communities!

A2 I like to use Google classroom for class collaboration chats and/or google docs for planning and brainstorming

A3 use hyperdocs to launch questions, but always pointing towards open-ended or unknown outcome

Classroom is a great resource for collaboration! I've had Ss use it as a platform to share resources and research

A2) Students can curate and create together in "real time," exploring dynamics of synthesis of multiple contributions.
A2: Google Forms is a gr8 way for Ss to keep track of success criteria during a project.
A3: Ss share interesting resources using Forms and allowed them access to the Sheet to see what their peers were researching

A3 2-edged sword: GAFE tools bake Research option into Tools menu to quench curiosity. Ease makes citing, trusting sources tricky

That's a good point. I've had Ss use both good and bad resources that way. But made for a good teachable moment!
Have seen MS Ss turn all Lord of Flies in shared files. Set/revisit norms; problem solve communally

A3b) The new Q&A in Google Slides presentation mode also encourages inquiry, even during a presentation.

The very reason I love the revision history feature! Can see who is doing what!
I love that feature! Ss love it too! Makes some of my Ss feel more comfortable asking questions & in discussions
A4 allows ss to both work at own pace, but also keep tabs with each other through questions and team asn. Facilitates work flow
The Draftback extension works well, too! Catches every key Ss hit on keyboard while working

A4) Set up multiple Google classrooms suited to the needs of specific groups of learners, and provide choice in resources.

A4: On Classroom provide multiple resources for practice but let Ss decide how much practice they need before proving mastery
Using street view is great! Really engages the Ss and brings them places they couldn't visit normally
I've done that in my ICS classes so classified Ss would have access to different resources they needed. Works great!
I love how incorporates Street View into an inquiry-based model w/ points earned.
Yes, great tools. To maximize impact, I learned I had to share doc w/Individual Ss, not anyone w/link

A4 Set the goals/targets in Google Classroom have students create in apps like Seesaw
Students love that! Also gets them working on inferencing skills to help them figure out the answer

A4 Mentioned earlier, but relevant here: Hyperdocs can be responsive to self-paced, self-directed learning. Likewise, GForms.
Then they get to choose their own method of creation and showing their skill/goal. Love it! Gives them a choice
A5: Encourage Ss to use Google Cultural Institute to explore other countries and their history & culture
Hyperdocs are definitely useful in increasing multiple 21st cent skills. Just a great tool to use in class!
A5) I love how Google Hangouts can bridge geographical gaps after making connections on Twitter.

A6a design projects w s choice in mind. Give them some control over what product will be, once they are familiar with
a6b . Teach design process thinking to enable creativity
Choice is crucial for creation. Allows for freedom to make their own creative decisions and embrace own ideas
A6: Any apps that save to Drive can allow for creation and then uploading to Classroom to share (ex: Canva, Powtoon)
Right! Crucial to un-school some ss so they uncover their native curiousity.

A6: Allow Ss and Ts to explore beyond GAFE and to integrate GAFE tools to bring forth new meaning/interactivity venues.
