A1: daily, always spiralling. The letters in their name first! #ECEchat
  • kindersmorgie Sep 18 @ 9:42 PM EDT
ABC BOOTCAMP is 100% flexible. PreK can focus on only letters. Or do a letter a day and then a letter a week. Or you can do a letter a week. We’ve seen it used in many ways in PreK! #ecechat
    In reply to @techwnancy
  • MrJustin2016 Sep 18 @ 9:42 PM EDT
We truly can't say enough about how the data backs up the results. It's mind blowing! #ecechat
  • tinacruickshank Sep 18 @ 9:43 PM EDT

  • Moyer_Teaches Sep 18 @ 9:45 PM EDT
I am wondering if this would be a tool to use for interventions instead of whole group. Probably a otter a week. #ECEchat
  • kindersmorgie Sep 18 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A2: With ABC BOOTCAMP we focus on the sound first. Then we introduce the letter as "how you spell the sound." This helps the students make a stronger connection between sounds/letters and writing! #ECEchat
  • VealHeidi - Moderator Sep 18 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A1 No more Letter of the Week!!! Many kiddos come w/ a good deal of Letter Knowledge! They’re ready to be introduced to a Letter a Day & given the chance to cycle through the alphabet a multitude of times during the school year. Don’t hold them back. #ECEchat

    In reply to @Moyer_Teaches
  • HalcombTammy Sep 18 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A1 I introduce a letter a week. To differentiate, I will introduce more letters for certain groups. #ECEchat
  • tinacruickshank Sep 18 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A2: I have always introduced the letter name and the sound along with it. I do an alphabet chant daily with actions to help kiddos remember letter name and sound! #ecechat
  • tpakazEDU Sep 18 @ 9:47 PM EDT
A2: I expose my Ss to both, but reinforce letters and/or sounds based on their learning goals and if they need a challenge or intervention #ECEchat
  • techwnancy - Moderator Sep 18 @ 9:47 PM EDT
Yes, it is a dream come true! #ECEchat

    A2 Sound then letter #ecechat
  • MrJustin2016 Sep 18 @ 9:47 PM EDT
A2: After starting ABC Bootcamp last year, we began introducing the sound first. Again...AMAZING results! Students truly catch on, and start singing the sound before stating the letter. You can hear all the classes up and down the halls from our team! #ecechat
  • jennifer_salay Sep 18 @ 9:47 PM EDT
#ECEchat A2: after doing ABC boot camp it made sense to introduce the sound and say "how do you spell it?" And they name the letter. Thus helps with pre reading skills.
  • tinacruickshank Sep 18 @ 9:47 PM EDT
I love this explanation and it makes total sense! #ECEchat

    In reply to @jghfoundation08
  • MrsReaka Sep 18 @ 9:48 PM EDT
A2: the letter first, but often together. This is a B. Talk about the shape. B says....then I show some things that start with that sound. This spirals and they hear letters and sounds again and again all year #ECEchat
    • kindersmorgie Sep 18 @ 9:45 PM EDT

Lisa from Albert Lea, MN joining in a little late tonight! Excited to chat with Greg! #ecechat
  • KinderMorey Sep 18 @ 9:48 PM EDT
I always do letter name first. I have them repeat the letter name then we talk about what sound the letter makes. The bubble charts with boot camp really help them think about that sound. I also incorporate hand motions for letter sounds and I use the letter factory song #ECEchat
    In reply to @kindersmorgie
  • 28dianeb Sep 18 @ 9:48 PM EDT
A2: Sound first, followed by the letter name. #ecechat
  • ChrisBjerklie Sep 18 @ 9:48 PM EDT
I did both with mixed results. Not sure what was best for my students. #ecechat
  • katyphinney Sep 18 @ 9:49 PM EDT
A2: I believe I always introduced the letter first, starting w/ the first letter in the Ss name. During whole group I introduced the letter, then the sound it made, & words that begin w/ that letter/sound. #ecechat
  • techwnancy - Moderator Sep 18 @ 9:49 PM EDT
    That is awesome! #ECEchat
    In reply to @msflanary, @MVESEagles, @kindersmorgie
  • msflanary Sep 18 @ 9:49 PM EDT
A2: After watching how @kindersmorgie introduces the sound first, that’s what I’m doing. It makes SO much sense and the kids are truly retaining it better. All day long I’m asking “What sound? How do we spell it?” #ECEchat
  • edu_ksSkukalek Sep 18 @ 9:49 PM EDT
A2 letter but with the sound, but probably more letter focused since it's sometimes linked back to their names 🤷🏻‍♀️#ecechat

  • KLCseedtotree Sep 18 @ 9:50 PM EDT
Take advantage of the videos @kindersmorgie has on his site. They are great for teaching the T how to introduce the sound/letter #ecechat
  • kindersmorgie Sep 18 @ 9:50 PM EDT
