#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.
We’re back!! This week’s topic for #MYEdOz is “#Makerspaces”! Join us from tomorrow, as we ask you a new question each day, Monday to Friday! We’d love for you to share your thoughts!
#AussieEd A4: traditional methods and regular check in with each student. I like to flip the feedback by asking how I can do better which tells me about how they want to learn.
Always, everyday we make adjustments to meet the needs of our Ss (concerns me when I hear a unit is going badly & tchrs reflect on what to change for next yr) stop, reflect today & adjust the very next lesson. Learning is agile, be open to where Ss take it #aussieED
Agreed. Especially with our students coming from such diverse backgrounds. Making them work outside their comfort zone and encouraging them to support one another achieves amazing results #aussieED
#AussieED tweeps thank you for joining the conversation. A huge thank you to @VivZappacosta for leading her first chat! Viv, TY for sharing your time, energy & expertise on all things SOLE this week! Follow #21CSOLE to seek more resources & inspo to spark SOLE in your school ⚡️
#AussieEd A5: by providing students with tools for collaboration aka web2.0 tools and specific skills for listening and speaking in a collaborative environment.
In only our 2nd year, GnT has not specifically been a part of the conversation. However, as we develop learning which focuses on capabilities, we will be more able to ensure choice caters for all diverse learning needs. #aussieED
In a SOLE you need to be patient and let the students arrive at the content. We encourage teachers not to influence the direction until we after reporting back & layering info. You can introduce another SOLE session if they don’t “nail” the concepts you anticipated. #AussieED
It’s amazing how simple teaching is when we actually listen to the Ss and tap into their motivations and interests for learning. The learning is about them, we just facilitate it #AussieED
Dear PLN - Can you help to recommend some awesome mandarin teachers to add to a twitter starter list. This will help kickstart my foreign language Teacher’s twitter networks. #EdChat#AsiaEd#AussieEd#Whatisschool

I like to introduce #designthinking principles across different KLAs before using it for a big project, helps Ss develop a designer’s mindset & chance to reflect on effectiveness of the process that often we don’t make time for during a project (also helps tchrs) #aussieED
With our time change it is only just after 5:30 am here right now...you must have started at 4:30 am our time. Sorry! Too early for me on a Sunday. 🙁 #AussieED

We have professional learning tours and workshops https://t.co/UntMmjLoQY and you are most welcome anytime they run. #aussieED If that cannot work, we will sort something out, for sure.
Thanks guys. Great passionate sharing and energy. Fantastic to be generating such interest in SOLE. Great job Viv et al. Cheers Paul Kenna@SOLEAust #AussieED
#AussieEd A6: I started teaching idealistically believing only in independent learning which failed.
I soon realised the need for staging and scaffolds.
To improve my teaching I developed the concept of Structured Independent Learning (SIL) which comtinues to evolve.

#AussieED thank you for the chat! Enjoy disrupting your classroom to take on purposeful learning and watch the learners take ownership... 💣 in case you need more ... https://t.co/WZrohYk7nE
Rather than trying to choose between high-tech, low-tech, and no-tech, parents and teachers should be searching for activities that will engage children in creative thinking and creative expression #aussieED#creativity#digitechhttps://t.co/qfZvCBarXK
