We also just got rid of i-ready. #2ndchat. Seems like when Ts and Ss get comfortable w/a program, t gets replaced #2ndchat

A5 Using station rotation for my literacy block completely changed things. Ss are Learning at their own pace on tasks that are just right for them. With #blendedlearning I’m free to work 1:1 or w a small group. #2ndchat

I just think we've gone overboard. Everything a kid touches has to have data to evaluated. It's too much. #2ndchat

A4: NC requires we use mCLASS which has DIBELS measures and text reading (running record + oral + written comp) component. Ts also take anectodal notes during small group instruction. #2ndchat

A4. I agree with too much testing- I feel the character ed gets lost and the culture breaks if all teachers worry about are tests and data! Example state testing #2ndchat

Definitely. I want to my little readers to be engaged and excited about reading, but lengthy text can be scary for some. #2ndchat

A5: Allowing the students to have choices in the activities gives them more independence and investment in what they're doing #2ndchat

It’s fun to pick a random passage from a long text and have Ss read it and then come up with what they think came before and after. #2ndchat

  • edtechSAE Nov 8 @ 8:43 PM EST
A5 #SquiggleParkEdu is the missing puzzle piece in your #literacy block! Kids love it so much they don’t even realize they are learning. The dashboards make it easy to plan instruction #2ndchat
  • edtechSAE Nov 8 @ 8:44 PM EST
A6 My favorite moment is when I’m assessing an S on how they’ve grown as a reader throughout grade 2. Seeing their face light up when they realize how much they’ve accomplished. I like to let them call and leave their parents a message saying how well they did reading! #2ndchat
