Ooohhh, I'm so distracted by football tonight but #edcampBCCC was so good I had to come here! Fred, math mentor teacher and TTOC from Richmond.
Hi all! I teach a lovely group of grade 5-7 kids all subjects. Areas of interest are visual arts/arts-based methods, (digital) citizenship and indigenous pedagogies. #bcedchat
Ian - principaling on the pacific, but ain’t gonna lie: with 2nd game of the day going into overtime, I will be a tad distracted to start tonight’s #bcedchat
Did you attend our Live Event yesterday? We asked the participants to share one fact that most didn't know.
Over the course of our chat, we'll tweet out the answers to the "Get to know your PLN" challenge! #bcedchat
Hi. It’s Christine. Currently at YVR airport heading to YXS. From the Sunshine Coast and Prince George. Math educator. Researcher. Teacher Educator. Looking forward to tonight’s chat. #bcedchat
Hi all. I’m tweeting from a bunk bed fort tonight. I’ll do my best to be an active listener/contributor but I’m also being read Harry Potter. Life is pretty awesome right now! #bcedchat

I got into coding after meeting and chatting with founder of Scratch team and Lifelong Kindergarten Professor Mitchel Resnick
Q1: Were you at BC Core Competencies EdCamp yesterday? What is one question that arose from your discussions or sessions? If you weren’t at the EdCamp, what is one question you have about Core Competencies? #bcedchat
#bcedchat A1: Burning question: "If students and staff are like glow sticks that need to be broken so the correct chemicals can react positively, what needs to be broken? And related, what conditions need to be present for these glowing staff & students to burn even brighter?"
Q1: Were you at BC Core Competencies EdCamp yesterday? What is one question that arose from your discussions or sessions? If you weren’t at the EdCamp, what is one question you have about Core Competencies? #bcedchat
A1 Sadly, no #Edcampbccc for me. My one question is how to integrate the Core Competencies into my practice in a meaningful way for the kids, their families, my practice and the program I teach in, in a time-efficient way. #bcedchat
A1: Q1: I was not at Core Competencies EdCamp yesterday. How often are other teachers having students self assess on them? Currently working on convincing my Ss that self assessments aren't as bad as they think! #bcedchat
A1: Yes! How do we share the ideas of CCs with colleagues so they aren't viewed as add-ons? "The curricular competencies are core competencies CONTEXTUALIZED" by Tom Schimmer gave me an aha moment. #bcedchat
A1. Yup. I was there. One question: what’s next? I would love to see at the next @EdCampBCCC attendees bringing exemplars of what works in their classrooms, schools, or programs. Let’s go deep with our discussions. I want to get past sense making and hypotheses. #bcedchat
Q1: Were you at BC Core Competencies EdCamp yesterday? What is one question that arose from your discussions or sessions? If you weren’t at the EdCamp, what is one question you have about Core Competencies? #bcedchat
A1: missed #EDCampBCCC but my question would be how do we move beyond initial assessments as our students move along in levels? You can’t have intro to core if our students are in second or third year. #bcedchat
Students will find them easier as they get used to them - we need to break it down for them and keep giving them strategies for self-assessment. #bcedchat
A1: Q1: I was not at Core Competencies EdCamp yesterday. How often are other teachers having students self assess on them? Currently working on convincing my Ss that self assessments aren't as bad as they think! #bcedchat
A1. Missed the #EdCampBCCC and I am looking forward to hearing what others say tonight, but a bit distracted by some work I have to do for an upcoming workshop. #bcedchat
#bcedchat This was one of my take aways as well. "If CC's are our core, what would planking exercises look like?"
Great sound bites to meditate on at #EDCampBCCC
A1: Yes! How do we share the ideas of CCs with colleagues so they aren't viewed as add-ons? "The curricular competencies are core competencies CONTEXTUALIZED" by Tom Schimmer gave me an aha moment. #bcedchat
A1-2: For me, I also wonder, how do I share the ideas of Computational Thinking with colleagues so it isn't viewed as an add-on. Using CT tasks is a great vehicle for CCs #bcedchat
q1: Yes. Question from yesterday is what are some different ways I can engage my students with CC reflections that are authentic, meaningful, and don't feel heavy/overused. #bcedchat
I will be in my office - behind the big piano! haha knock on the door loudly, or give me a tweet and I'll come out. Sometimes I have my music loud to drown out the piano! #bcedchat

A1: a question I get asked at secondary schools is how do they "organize" the time for students to think about core competencies. sometimes there is a sense of it is not my course. #bcedchat
Q2: While self-assessing Core Competencies, we are continually asking our students to look at how they are developing. As a teacher, how has your understanding and use of Core Competencies in your teaching developed since last year? #bcedchat
A1: Yes I was there! I also have a hand cramp from typing on my phone! One question that arose from our discussion is "how do we teach the process of (and reasons for) reflection in a strategic way rather than assuming highschool students know how (or why) to reflect" #bcedchat
A2L There was chat at the #bcedchat live event afterwards about how our understanding of CC has developed over the year and the conversation was evolved.
#bcedchat I agree that cracking cultural/traditional walls need to have some opening to allow 'stuff' out and in. Broken is too strong.
I also like that learning is messy and involves bumping stuff together.
A great reason for classroom communities and PLN's like #bcedchat
I like the second question. Am pondering the notion that we begin with the mindset that students need to be broken...maybe just cracked open a little (based on my glow stick experience!)
From the discussions that I heard the frequency of student self-assessment varied greatly. Some spoke of having students do them frequently- informally after a lesson or at the end of the day. Have students use tech to do a short video to self asses. #bcedchat
A1: I was fortunate to share in the conversation yesterday. I’m left wondering how our structures of space and time in high school restrict Ts in diving into CCs?
The tough part we should’ve learned from CAPP - how to not make “it” (in this case the self reflection) repetitive and keep it relevant at different ages (and different times of year) #bcedchat
A2 I think I have less anxiety about Core Competencies - more faith that they are embedded in our ways of being & in our methodologies. Last year I was teaching frimm sciences & this year frimm socials so I still haven't figured out what using them looks like for me yet #bcedchat
Q2: While self-assessing Core Competencies, we are continually asking our students to look at how they are developing. As a teacher, how has your understanding and use of Core Competencies in your teaching developed since last year? #bcedchat
Q2: A2: Last year I enjoyed that they were a part of the curriculum and felt they were important "common sense daily skills" all kids should have. I would occasionally ask Ss which they used. This year, I am being more conscious to have Ss weekly assess and document. #bcedchat
A2 Well, there's nothing like a new school district to inject all sorts of learning, including new learning about the CC, into your practice :) #bcedchat
A2: Using them way more naturally and easily than when they first came out. Listening to ss closely in order for them to increase their ability to self-assess. Stepping out of the way more. Asking them for ideas as to how they can show self-assessment of cc. #bcedchat
Sadly I have to change the statement to "was" now as I got too busy with a full-time job and Masters. Decided to pass on the torch after I first became part of the planning 12 years ago as a UBC student. #bcedchat
#bcedchat A2: These questions are sneaking into a great set of observations. We had some rich discussions on creating common language/building rubrics together so students 'know' what is involved so their looking is more informed.
Q2: While self-assessing Core Competencies, we are continually asking our students to look at how they are developing. As a teacher, how has your understanding and use of Core Competencies in your teaching developed since last year? #bcedchat
I aim for once every two weeks we sit down together and they choose one to asses on so I have a picture and words on paper for their portfolio, but no, I also have them assess individually at various times #bcedchat#corecomp
A1. Yes I was at #edcampbccc. My first edcamp! It was so great to connect with Ts and learn together. One q from 1st session was how to support Ss self-reflect who have cognitive disabilities and memory retention challenges. #bcedchat
A2: I used to use CC self-assessment as subject specific conversation starters. Now I encourage students to think specifically about ways that CCs exist for them outside of the context of school! #bcedchat
I am more intentionally plugging them into my classroom supports and into my Pro D. Having lots of fun seeing where they sit in my own work and thinking A2 #bcedchat
Ha! Long story short a wonderful colleague made fun of guinea pigs, calling them ‘Montessori mice’ - delightful shenanigans ensues - and eventually I ‘WIN’ the handle as part of the game! Ha! I’ve kept it all these years as a matter of principal (and it makes me laugh) #BCEdChat
Q3: Hive mind - What is one aspect of the Core Competencies that you would like to focus on this year? What is your own professional goal? Take a look at others’ answers and offer suggestions. #bcedchat
A2: Helping schools in looking beyond the "check box" style of core competency assessment. That 1st year we saw a lot of scrambling to figure out how to support the students in being prepared to self-assess. I am seeing much better practice around this now #bcedchat
You were awesome even with the small screen! Strategic/intentional ways would be great lesson studies for a group of educators like the PLN on #bcedchat to work on.
Q2: A2: Last year, I was not as aware of how the Core Cs lived in the Curricular Competencies. I have developed a deeper understanding of that this year and it has opened up possibilities for more contextualized - and therefore deeper - self-assessment opportunities. #bcedchat
A2. Always cognizant of how all 3 #corecompetencies are happening within a lesson. How to self evaluate one’s competencies and provide evidence knowing why. But also suggest what’s next. Follows an AFL framework. Challenging. Still in progress. #bcedchat
Q2: While self-assessing Core Competencies, we are continually asking our students to look at how they are developing. As a teacher, how has your understanding and use of Core Competencies in your teaching developed since last year? #bcedchat
I think this is such an important point @mmedevries - the Core Competencies are for life, a way of being in the world. Important for us to reflect on this as adults as well.
#bcedchat
I am more intentionally plugging them into my classroom supports and into my Pro D. Having lots of fun seeing where they sit in my own work and thinking A2 #bcedchat
I wonder if it would help to pre-distribute reflection questions so they aren't something that have to be completed 'after' but rather could be completed 'during'. I can relate now that I have mild memory and cognitive disabilities myself. Can't remember = distressing #bcedchat
A1. Yes I was at #edcampbccc. My first edcamp! It was so great to connect with Ts and learn together. One q from 1st session was how to support Ss self-reflect who have cognitive disabilities and memory retention challenges. #bcedchat
I think additionally there is an opportunity for HS Ts to connect with one another and break out of their traditional single content thinking. I know some of our HS in @Kamloops_SD73 have broken down their courses to look 4 where the CCs fit in their course targets 1/ #bcedchat
A1: I was fortunate to share in the conversation yesterday. I’m left wondering how our structures of space and time in high school restrict Ts in diving into CCs?
Q3: Hive mind - What is one aspect of the Core Competencies that you would like to focus on this year? What is your own professional goal? Take a look at others’ answers and offer suggestions. #bcedchat
CCs are in every course though. Setting aside time for CCs is not different from setting aside time for reflections, exit slips, etc. on curricular content. And we can do both at the same time? #bcedchat
A3. My own goal is to have one really great CC eportfolio post with both teacher comments and reflective student comments included. And I want it, if possible, connected to Arts Education :) #bcedchat
A3. Find a variety of ways for students to self assess their competencies. Find a way to self assess my competencies as a teacher. Maybe in my blog (for me). Track and tally data to create a summative self assessment. #bcedchat
Q3: Hive mind - What is one aspect of the Core Competencies that you would like to focus on this year? What is your own professional goal? Take a look at others’ answers and offer suggestions. #bcedchat
time seems to always be an issue to teachers in secondary. We need to remember it isnt brain surgery and its ok if everything isnt done... nobody will die they will just catch it later, #bcedchat
#bcedchat And the structure of 'silo-ing' was a major obstruction as well in our secondary session.
Reminder that there are great compilations that are continuing to grow from the #EDCampBCCC sessions at https://t.co/P2JH580MqC
A1: I was fortunate to share in the conversation yesterday. I’m left wondering how our structures of space and time in high school restrict Ts in diving into CCs?
I was there :D I love the question I get to sit with about how can I support teachers in their own CC learning as I work with my colleagues through the lens of technology. I use intentional targets of CCs and #FPPL for S focus but how can I make it better #bcedchat
With the breaking apart of the secondary curriculum, I’m glad to see some deconstruction and analysis of what students “need” to graduate with dignity (not everyone needs to do 5 paragraph essays to communicate) #bcedchat
A2. I'm still learning about #corecompetencies in my roles (not something I'd say EAs concern themselves with). Yesterday was a valuable experience to see how Ts are realizing that the language needs to be explicit and put into practice daily with visuals. #bcedchat
Indeed! And my gentle push might be to ask how might we, as schools, facilitate this effectively to achieve student success? Structure? Value? Modeling? So many good questions ;) #bcedchat
I think this connects @ereid38 comments about perceived limitations and actual. I think that conversations at high school are in the early stages and I hear the perceived limitations more often #bcedchat
Q4: What is one word that describes your growth or experience with Core Competencies between today and when you first heard the term “Core Competencies” a few years ago? #bcedchat
A3: I would like to work on shifting it to a personal connection... We just started The Six Cedar Trees last week to help with this! Changing my question to which animal did you connect with today instead of which core competency did you use? #bcedchat#corecomp#knowingdoing
I'm liking this idea of working on placing the Curricular competencies within the framework of the Core Comps and then looking cross curricularly! #bcedchat

Q4: What is one word that describes your growth or experience with Core Competencies between today and when you first heard the term “Core Competencies” a few years ago? #bcedchat
I think it has helped that the Ministry has made this more explicit as well. I think it will help for students to think of experiences across disciplines as evidence in their CC reflections and self-assessment.
#bcedchat
A3: I'm trying to help develop self-directed learners who identify strengths, areas of recent growth, goal-set & stretch for 'next steps'. I'm reading "Softening the Edges" by Katie White & practicing self compassion as I am a learner myself. https://t.co/s17SYQQW33#bcedchat
Q3: Hive mind - What is one aspect of the Core Competencies that you would like to focus on this year? What is your own professional goal? Take a look at others’ answers and offer suggestions. #bcedchat
A4. A few years ago I remember thinking, I like CC, but it's one more thing I need to do in an already busy life. Now I understand more how to integrate and think of them at the same time and embedded within learning activities. #bcedchat
A1: Was not at EdCamp. My question is “How can TTOCs consistently incorporate CCs in an authentic way, when they have limited contact with specific classes and students?” #bcedchat
A3- My goal is to incorporate more reflection into my thinking and communication. I am in a new role this year with some amazing mentors available and being intentional and reflective is important to me. #bcedchat
#bcedchat A3: As a mentor teacher, I'm looking at creating études (planking/mixing/ strategically/intentionally) exercises to build teacher capacity & student capacities for self-reflection & increasing their CC strengths.
Q3: Hive mind - What is one aspect of the Core Competencies that you would like to focus on this year? What is your own professional goal? Take a look at others’ answers and offer suggestions. #bcedchat
I think it would be reassuring for us to know how X is getting reinforced in (for example) Science, Music, P.E. so as to take the pressure off any one particular teacher. We're in this together, we need to see how we are all building towards the same essential skills. #bcedchat
I'm liking this idea of working on placing the Curricular competencies within the framework of the Core Comps and then looking cross curricularly! #bcedchat
Q3. I'd like to focus on personal/social responsibility. #corecompetencies could easily align with IEP goals. I can see how they can be a framework for #inclusion and #differentiatedlearning as they could be a source of confidence for those at different academic levels. #bcedchat
And I think that's part of all our learning - that it is not an "extra" as one of the Grade 12 students said yesterday, moving to understanding that the CCs are embedded in all of our learning and experiences.
#bcedchat
A4: My word - Community! So lucky to be able to learn with so many great people here and in person! And to see that it just keeps growing! #bcedchat#edcampbccc
Q4: What is one word that describes your growth or experience with Core Competencies between today and when you first heard the term “Core Competencies” a few years ago? #bcedchat
Agreed. I wonder if thinking about CCs across disciplines will be a necessary part of helping students to grow dispositionally instead of just growing in their competences within the context of a certain subject. I think dispositional change is what we're after! #bcedchat
I found that introducing myself at the beginning of class in an authentic way really set a tone of care & mutual respect while I was a TTOC. Could you model an area of growth in the last year? Share about self, a strength and a stretch about something you're learning? #bcedchat

Many years ago, I had the incredible opportunity to climb aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis, and then I had a "space lunch" with an Astronaut.
I wondered that too but then I don't want to pick/assign core competency's to particular classes. Each are important in unique ways in different classes. #bcedchat
Q5: On Thursday, the BC Ministry hosted an assessment webinar. For those of you that participated, what is a key idea about assessment and Core Competencies that was shared? #bcedchat
The Core Competencies are there - in every grade and every course. Yes, I agree that we may need to make the connections more explicit for ourselves and our students. For example, there is so much creative thinking in math but students may not see it that way!
#bcedchat
I think sometimes it might start with just looking to see where in "x course" we might ask students to "think creatively" and then reminding them of it. It is a neat chance to notice the kinds of thinking and "human-work" we do.
I also love the idea & book! I saw the animals when I visited another classroom in the city & asked why they didn't use Yukon animals. Their response - its from this book! I was amazed! We just started last week, but we have already changed our posters & swapped 1. #bcedchat

If my grade 9s are learning about socio-political revolution we could use the CCs as a type of analytical framework. Was Marie Antoinette socially &/or personally responsible? Why or why not? What are causes of responsibility? What are consequences of irresponsibility? #bcedchat

I really think that the cross-curricular piece is important! CCs can also be in non-curricular areas too. At my schl we conducted grade 8 year-end interviews for Ss to reflect on CCs using artifacts. Many of them are not from classes. #bcedchat

Yes we need to look at how your brain works out the problem and not believe there is only one answer. The final answer is less important than the process. #bcedchat
It’s there in the curricular competencies - solving problems in different ways, using different materials and forms, flexible thinking about numbers, making connections...
#bcedchat
A5. The curricular competencies are connected to the core competencies. Have a laser focus on the curricular competencies as the end and use content as the means. #bcedchat
Q5: On Thursday, the BC Ministry hosted an assessment webinar. For those of you that participated, what is a key idea about assessment and Core Competencies that was shared? #bcedchat
I agree with you Justin, I meant more that we could see how everyone is 'chipping in' to the whole. Like reinforcing all of the CCs from many angles, together. I know I would get a lot of ideas from seeing how they are doing it, too. #bcedchat

#bcedchat A5: That CC's are embedded in the curriculum competencies & are often uniquely represented in each area. I think they are also common but this requires us discussing with cross curriculum teachers to find the commonalities & language.
Q5: On Thursday, the BC Ministry hosted an assessment webinar. For those of you that participated, what is a key idea about assessment and Core Competencies that was shared? #bcedchat
That's wonderful. I've done something similar -- a Math Fair at the end of the course. And in addition to Critical Thinking, it involves Communications and Creative Thinking as well! #bcedchat
#bcedchat A3 I want to make them more explicit in my class. I have seen anchor charts with them and I’d like to do something like that with my students so that they would be on the wall to refer back to.
Q6: We are developing more understanding as educators about the links between Core and Curricular Competencies. Please provide an example of how these are connected within a specific discipline such as social studies or mathematics. #bcedchat
Those are good example Qs to explore as an intro for sure! Thanks for the suggestion. I agree modelling is likely the best way that TTOCs can show Ss to easily work with CCs! #awesome#bcedchat
I love that we can have those tough conversations, it helps us grow as educators and people. And the fact that I feel like I have so many people who "have my back"! #bcedchat
I also loooove video reflections. Screencastify is one of my favourite digital tools to capture those oral responses to a reflection prompt. But not every time! And then I love the question of thinking about what kind of feedback do their reflections get? #bcedchat
Hmmm... "broken" Maybe the walls that hold those chemicals in separate capsules for the right time when they need to glow? Oohhhhh what a good'er!! #bcedchat
I love screencasting as well and once students know how to use the tools, it can become part of their repertoire and then can be one of the choices for how they share their learning, reflections and self-assessment.
#bcedchat
A6: Not sure if answering correct, but my Ss and I always discuss how math requires a lot of communication, critical thinking (growing our brains) creative thinking for our PBL projects, and also responsibility from where are your materials to money/ time sense--- #bcedchat
A6 my secondary #math classroom focuses on Communication (core and curricular) as the student whiteboard, discuss, and present and evaluate solutions. #bcedchat
Q7: In thinking about Career Education and Capstone projects at the secondary level, how can you see the Core Competencies flourishing and being enacted? #bcedchat
I think if students take pride in it, it is meaningful. If it will have an audience that gives them validation and praise it will be meaningful. If we teach students to look back and see how far they have come it will be meaningful #bcedchat
A6. I had my Math 9's reflect on how they were using the Core Comps. Lots identified Communication as they asked for help and talked to each other about solutions. #bcedchat
A6: This is where I openly admit that I don't know yet. Thursday at #BCedassessment was my 'aha moment' that they're largely the same thing. At least now I know I need people with whom I can talk it through in order for me personally to 'get there' #bcedchat
Q6: We are developing more understanding as educators about the links between Core and Curricular Competencies. Please provide an example of how these are connected within a specific discipline such as social studies or mathematics. #bcedchat
There are lots of connections - once students know what the CCs are and why they are important, they will also start to notice and name them in math.
I consider what opportunities I can provide to nurture the awareness and development of the CCs when teaching math.
#bcedchat
#bcedchat A6: in math, communication is found in the clarity of solution presentations, in math reasoning during math or fraction talks, during problem solving situations and even in telling the story of a problem solving <-- creativity might also show up in these.

I had been on the organizing committee for the Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival. Co-authored the event proposal as a UBC student. Now the event is in its 12th year! :)
Here's a blog post I wrote last year sorting out some of thinking about the connections between core and curricular competencies - although math-specific, its the same idea across disciplines.
https://t.co/dCUBZloMJ2#bcedchat
A6 - This might be too specific but for example in Science - "Use scientific understandings to identify relationships and draw conclusions" links to Critical Thinking #bcedchat
#bcedchat Greetings! Late joining tonight. Sure appreciated the gathering yesterday. A1: I wonder a bit about "a rush" to look for Core Competency connections might compromise the focus on a specific subject's "way knowing"?
A6. Curricular Competency from Math 8. “Use reasoning and logic to explore, analyze, and apply mathematical ideas.” Subject specific. The Core Competency connection is Critical Thinking (analyze and critique). One is embedded in the other. Content provides context. #bcedchat
Q6: We are developing more understanding as educators about the links between Core and Curricular Competencies. Please provide an example of how these are connected within a specific discipline such as social studies or mathematics. #bcedchat
A7. In a perfect situation, these would be designed and administered by people passionate and knowledgeable around the CC's. Realistically, I also think you cant have one without the other! #bcedchat
Q8: If the BC Core Competencies are what we truly value within our education system and reveal the intent of what we want our students to BE, how do we elevate their importance to students, parents and our colleagues?
#bcedchat
Q4. Calmer? I have a better understanding of the CCs now. They don't seem so foreign anymore. I think many of us were probably teaching/uncovering these skills already but now we have this common language from K-12 to further connect Ss and Ts across BC. #bcedchat
Q8: If the BC Core Competencies are what we truly value within our education system and reveal the intent of what we want our students to BE, how do we elevate their importance to students, parents and our colleagues?
#bcedchat
A6: Take the curricular competency "reasoning and analyzing" in math, there is definitely critical thinking. Also Ss need to communicate with others (peers or teachers) -- justify their solutions, explain their reasoning, etc. #bcedchat
Yes common language is so important! I think we were all doing great things in line with CCs but didn't realize until we started to develop this common language. #bcedchat
A8. this is a reminder to me to find ways to connect this to our parent community. (and maybe work with our family of schools - which @CraigMah and I mentioned to each other a while ago!) #bcedchat
Bonus question: What is one thing, either from tonight’s chat or the BC Core Competencies EdCamp that you want to put into practice in your classroom starting tomorrow? #bcedchat
A7. Student agency, student choice, and student design. Student identifies personal strengths that were developed over time and demonstrates them as summative in a capstone project. Could be storytelling, making something, or career oriented. This is the time to shine. #bcedchat
Q7: In thinking about Career Education and Capstone projects at the secondary level, how can you see the Core Competencies flourishing and being enacted? #bcedchat
Bonus question: What is one thing, either from tonight’s chat or the BC Core Competencies EdCamp that you want to put into practice in your classroom starting tomorrow? #bcedchat
A8 I hope our learners have an awareness of what the competencies are, u defat and why they are arranged as they are and then are mindful as to how they as individuals connect with each (and when they should) #bcedchat
I gave this to students as they were working collaboratively on a numeracy task from @pgliljedahlhttps://t.co/qYwhXJptyr I may have had SO MUCH FUN celebrating where they saw critical thinking in their mathematical work. #bcedchat
A6: Take the curricular competency "reasoning and analyzing" in math, there is definitely critical thinking. Also Ss need to communicate with others (peers or teachers) -- justify their solutions, explain their reasoning, etc. #bcedchat
Bonus question: What is one thing, either from tonight’s chat or the BC Core Competencies EdCamp that you want to put into practice in your classroom starting tomorrow? #bcedchat
Q8: If the BC Core Competencies are what we truly value within our education system and reveal the intent of what we want our students to BE, how do we elevate their importance to students, parents and our colleagues?
#bcedchat
#bcedchat A8: sermon showed comfort & growth as 2 core values we have as humans but growth & discomfort often come hand-in-hand; awareness of how parents WANT these CCs as well & are more important than spelling test scores et all & there will be some worthwhile discomfort

I have a couple bins that are my “readable by anyone” comics and I rotate through those irregularly (usually when someone asks if I have more because they’ve gone through them all - not necessarily read them all as it’s an eclectic mix) #bcedchat but I am a believer in comics!

Don't forget to check out the Google Docs form yesterday's (and last year's) sessions - so much great dialogue and fantastic resources were captured! https://t.co/ZuYs2bEdES#bcedchat#edcampbccc

#bcedchat So who are the 'we'? Hopefully teachers together or teachers/parents together then staff will be more enabled to develop them with their students as the ideal 'we'.
Thank you for joining us this evening for a #bcedchat focusing on the BC Core Competencies as a follow-up to the @EdCampBCCC yesterday.
We are better together - thanks for sharing, thinking and learning together.
Enjoy the lunar eclipse!
