A1: this summer I am hoping to make anchor charts that can easily be put up and taken down. Research shows that the eye is drawn to new things so I shouldn't have immobile anchor charts. I also want to explore stem stations so I am doing less whole group instruction #sunchat
This summer feels very different to me, because I am in a year-round job now. The pace changes, but it's not a total break like it used to be. I'm trying to figure out what that looks like for me, personally & professionally. #sunchat

Let's talk about our summer! I want to finish up novel #3 and #4. I want to lose some weight by getting ACTIVE and throwing in some yoga on the beach, and I'm working on refining a unit/activities on the Lindbergh baby kidnapping from the '30s for my 6th graders. #sunchat

Many years in education taught me that reading books (I have hundreds) is great but collaborating with other educators about what you're reading is stellar. Helps to aid in reflection and true implementation about what you've read. #sunchat

I discovered the joy on Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. I rented a bike one day and rode around the entire island. No pain exercise? Who knew? I bought a bike the day I returned! #sunchat

Show us your completed puzzles. I'm really not supposed to have them (I tend to see them as unfinished projects and I WILL stand at the kitchen table for up to six hours until the last piece goes in). My wife, Kristie, will periodically ask, "Do you need to be watered?" #sunchat

I teach in a low income, high minority district in California and my kids really like seeing a book with characters in it that are like them and reading how their experiences are important. The Hate U Give is one of those books. #sunchat

Math is amazing. My worst subject in high school, I hated every minute of getting a degree in it. All of that turned around when I started teaching it and REALLY began understanding what the heck I was talking about. Now I love it! #sunchat
I can literally talk for an hour on the usefulness of prime numbers. It seems like a throwaway subject in grades 4-7, but they are INCREDIBLY useful, with applications all through a mathematical career. #sunchat
