A2: Same as A1 for me...I find it most effective to actually talk through things with colleagues. I’m hoping that my blog will become a way for me to discuss things with others as well. I also reflect with and learn from my PLN tribe...like this powerful group!! #TLAP
A1: I currently reflect by doing a daily Twitter video and posting to my hashtag ➡️ #techwithstef I also capture 1 second video clips & use the @1SecondEveryday app to mash together! Here is first semester ⬇️ #TLAP#1se
A2: I speak with peers as part of my reflection process and blog. It is so vital to verbalize or share reflections. In doing so, you get a better sense of your thoughts. Kind of like reading a paper aloud or having a peer read it. #tlap
A2. I’m blessed to have a patient husband! But at work I talk to people I trust to tell me the truth..good or bad. @CarterDE3 and @ReginaW26 keep me straight! #tlap
A2 I share through my positive experiences that have made me become a better person/educator. I constantly share stories each da through the power of Snapchat, IG, and YouTube channel. It helps me remember HOW FAR IVE COME. #tlap
A2: Reflect, Reflect, SHARE! No, I did not mean to stutter! I share my reflections with others through my blog, EduCarter... also, I reflected thoroughly in my RESA submission through EduCopia for licensure in Ohio! Reflection is 👌🏼 #tlap#ohedchat@burgessdave
A2: I facilitate and co-facilitate a lot of circles during the week and I find that this is an amazing platform for sharing and further processing my reflections whether with students or colleagues. #tlap#EduSnaps
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
#tlap A2: Blogging, making videos, or discussing what has worked or not worked. It's a skill that my Ss need to have, so I have to set the example for them.
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2 I am currently sharing my reflections and thoughts through blogging (shameless plug for #4ocf) and the book that I am writing/presenting (shameless plug for The Art of Comprehension) #tlap
I'm an #EDUNerd and addicted to Prof Dev. I'm also someone who HAS to create, and I love my #OrEdChat crew, and of course #BookSnaps#EduSnaps and all the snaps. Hooked on Voxer too. #tlap
A2: Agree with others - Twitter is a good means of reflection, blogging is hard. I use the Notes app on my phone as well - talk into it when I'm thinking in the moment and can't access another writing tool. #tlap
A2 It is so important to share the authentic stories and lessons, not just the good ones. We are not perfect. We should not only share what works. Share the challenges, the tough times. Learn and be stronger together. #tlap
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2: I share my reflections with my husband most of the time who is also a teacher. He is great about thinking outside the box in alot of areas. Sometimes i tweet thoughts that i have our journal them. i want to do more sharing with other Ts who are in my grade level
#tlap A2 I have taught for 28 years and have been blessed beyond means. So much so I wrote a book. It is in the hands of a publisher. My 1st rule of #AlwaysBelieve has gone beyond my classroom walls to the community.
Q2: I used shared docs a lot at school where several people can reflect on reading. #bookshaps and #Edusnaps shared on social media is the most common for me. #tlap
A2: Started a blog to get feedback and have a process in reflecting. Also like using #booksnaps. Like joining groups that help me collaborate and push my thinking #tlap
A2: Sometimes my reflections get shared on LinkIn or in my blog or face to face with another person or large audience. It all depends on the circumstances of the reflection.
#TLAP
#tlap A2 Share reflections with students by conducting open discussions and providing written feedback. Share with colleagues in team meetings and PLC's.
A1 Currently, I reflect at the end of each day on my own and then with someone else. I reflect on what went well that day or what I need to do differently next time around. #tlap
A1 My reflection often occurs on Twitter and through blogging. Reflecting on my own is great, but reflecting and discussing with others is very informative/inspiring. #tlap
A2: Tags on social media, snaps of notes, coffee and chat, grade level meetings, and just a good old google drive file folder that we share! #conversechat#tlap
A2. My goal is to blog once each week and care less about grammar and making my thoughts perfect. Trying to focus more on just getting the ideas out there. #tlap
I've started using Twitter. I find it difficult to reflect with colleagues at school--I've had a new team each year for the last three years and getting to know them and share out has been hard (especially with a loss of team planning time we used to have)#tlap
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2: LET'S CHAT! The #TLAP community is the best! The PLN formed here is unmatched in collaborating, sharing ideas/reflections, and supporting each other in reaching and crushing goals!
A1: Reflection is something I do regularly. Whether in my work or personal life. It’s not always in the most effective way but it does force me to look at what worked, what didn’t, what needs to change and how can I learn from it. #TLap
I have some peers that I can share my reflections and seek advice how to improve. Keeping an open mind and willing to see the flaws continues to help me grow.. #tlap
A2. Colleagues but mostly with my #PLN Just last Saturday collaborated with my BFF @RaeHughart on units - definitely a game changer! Great to know someone can lift u up,
#tlapguve u praise but best of all can be specific on what u can do better❤️ #tlap
A2: I've tried a few Vlogs; here's a link to my first one. It's a fun way to engage, connect, reflect, and grow! I also journal, post SEL stuff on my book's Facebook page, keep up a school website to connect & share & write lots of guest posts. https://t.co/3N7XrnJW3U#tlap
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2: I share with our team things I could've done better all the time! I hold myself accountable & I'm not afraid to be vulnerable with the team. Educators are often very critical of themselves! #tlap
A3: I was raised not to take myself so seriously, so when a lesson or lesson component fails, or if my idea flops, or I realize a serious lack of planning on my part occurs, then I take a big breath, own it, learn from it, grow from it, and model it. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2 Right now I’m not sharing my reflections formally with anyone. I have started writing and would like to start a blog...a goal for the year...just nervous to do it! The @TeacherAndAdmin are inspiring me! #tlap
A2. I use @conqueredapp for student daily reflection and am designing a growth mindset curriculum for my advisory with journaling about fixed mindset moments ideally once a week #tlap
A2: My reflections are shared in face to face conversations, emails, my weekly newsletter, here on Twitter (isn't that what we are doing now?) and most recently started to blog !https://t.co/Wxi3aXgSbZ#tlap
A3: I remind myself that I can't truly grow if I'm not completely honest in my reflections. I am also encouraged when others get to learn from my mistakes and struggles. #tlap
A3: I schedule 1 hour of writing in my office each day where I can be alone and reflect on my practice. My writing becomes more raw the more comfortable I get writing and sharing. #tlap
A3: I am the most transparent in my classroom in front of my kids. I ask them for their feedback and I listen. I own up to my mistakes and failures and get THEM to give suggestions for next time. #tlap
A3: Even in my role, raw honesty often comes from students. The bonus good feels you get from an honest conversation with a student cannot be beat. #tlap
A3: It takes time! Find your tribe and start with them. When you are vulnerable and open to honest feedback, you will take away the most from the reflection! #tlap
A2 Jumped ahead in my A1 but Twitter/Blogging. After a rather elaborate collaboration with @bmilla84 we co-authored a reflection blog for #KidsDeserveIt 🙌 (Still tooting our own horn on this, super proud) #tlap
I can't get motivated to reflect without an audience - but an audience who accepts an unpolished reflection - the time to make my reflections pretty just isn't there. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: Admitting when I'm wrong, or realizing when I've put my convenience first over my students' needs. It's SO vital that we don't just acknowledge our mess ups, but we learn from them apply change.
#tlap
Definitely Twitter! This has been an awesome resource to connect with other educators. Discussing with teacher friends and PLCs help me reflect too! #tlap
A3: We ask our students to be VULNERABLE every day... WE, as teachers, need to be VULNERABLE in our own teaching practices every day. Show your Ss it's okay to make mistakes... CELEBRATE THEM! 🎉👍🏼 @burgessdave#tlap
I need to do that too! I've got it scheduled starting this week actually for 30 minutes every day. I just keep finding it too easy to push it to the back burner. #tlap
This is Kristine, Elementary SERT from Ontario.
A1: I spend a lot of time reading and thinking about what I read.
I feel lucky to have great colleagues and friends to talk things through with. #tlap
A teacher once told to relax, we are not brain surgeons. There is no mistake we make that we can't go back the next day and fix. No one will die if our lesson plan goes horribly wrong. That took all the pressure off taking risks for me #tlap
A3 Hmmm, I am happy to hear others' opinions because it makes me grow. I surround myself with people who want each other to succeed, I think that's the key. #tlap
A3: trust your PLN. Open yourself up to their thoughts. The input you receive will make you better...better personally, emotionally, and for our Ss. #tlap
I think when we did it at Cary grove was finding a place to hang it others would see. I love the idea though. Sometimes difficult to find Ts to observe #tlap
a3: keeping the raw vulnerability can be hard but if i reflect with others im honestly looking for feedback so i keep and open mind and take notes about what they say. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: I remember the same very concept I'm trying to instill in to my Ss - fail-ing vs fail-ure. If I am a fail-ing as a T and then showing resilience to move forward, I have not actually failed. We get stuck and shut ourselves off as Ts when we think we are failures. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: Well the theme of my podcast and blog is "wins and losses" so I try to be very honest about what is going on/what I'm thinking. With people like @ToddRisser@misskoplin@HistoryislifeDC@WDoerwaldt when we talk during the day we have relationships that allow for candor #tlap
A3: I found I was more vulnerable with my students than I am with adults. I think it comes from trusting those you are around. When you put yourself out there you open up to criticism. But sometimes that's where the most honest feedback comes from. It's hard but we need it. #tlap
Discipline can be a very slippery slope in education. Take it from the approach of: "How can I help this student learn from his/her poor judgement?" instead of devising ways to punish and you will never go wrong... #tlap#edchat#moedchat#education
A2 I share on Twitter a lot. I share with coworkers as well. Need to get better at this. Some of it is just trusting those I confide in with deeper reflections. #TLAP
A3: I think reflecting through social media helps to keep us transparent since we aren't exactly face to face. Plus, reflecting with someone you trust and relate to helps you to be honest and true to yourself. #TLAP
A3: Keep in mind that in order to truly grow, it’s important to share the good, bad, and the ugly! Also, by knowing that the people you reflect w/ have your best interest in mind, it helps in being vulnerable & transparent! #tlap
#tlap A3 You are blesed as a Tr when you have coworkers where you can share your relfections in confidence. These Trs over my 28 years have inspired me to become better.
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: I try to be authentic in my life. When you learn to share the mistakes you have made and how you have risen above them, you grow in leaps and bounds. When you share your success and they see the light in your eyes, it is inspiring. Real is important. #tlap
A3. I think it's important to just say what you're thinking, be open to comments and criticism so you can question and grow more yourself. Come from a place of questioning rather than superiority #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: HAVE A GROWTH MINDSET! Don't just talk the talk, walk the walk. We all preach the importance of having a growth mindset with our students, we need to have one ourselves! #TLAP
Absolutely agree with you! I'm very fortunate to work with a team that accepts each other for who they are & is always supportive, even when we always don't see eye to eye. #tlap
A3: I know that if I didn’t like how a lesson went or a technique of behavior mgmt, I need to be transparent in order to find a solution to the problem. It also helps to reflect with those who you trust and collaborate with frequently, so you feel comfortable being honest. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2: I started a blog last fall, but I am definitely finding it difficult to write posts on a regular basis. I also find it a little bit intimidating to share my ideas so widely. #tlap
A3 You just need to keep it real. You can't hide all the challenges. When I decided to start blogging, I decided to share my real & honest journey. If we promote a perfect image, others will never want to share. We need to be realistic. Show how we overcome; learn. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: It's so important to be authentic, open, and honest in our reflections, will takes vulnerability and trust. I try to be transparent; here's an example of true grit, transparency and honesty: https://t.co/B7G4mBDIg8#tlap
Asking my kids at the end of the year what they felt was good, bad, and ugly about the class! They're very honest about how they feel the class went! #tlap
A3: I think blogging is one of the more perfect ways for this but honesty and trust goes so far in this dept! Opening up and trusting others to respect you, that alone is what we ask of students on a daily basis! #conversechat#tlap
A3: I try my best to be transparent. The purpose of reflection is growth. There has to be some discretion when sharing globally, but when trying to impact those around me with whom I’ve established relationships, I need them to understand that I’m human. #TLAP
#tlap A3: Ss need to see the process, so I have to be honest about what worked or didn't work. I have to show them that people make mistakes and what to do about it. I also have to show that trying a new idea will not always work. I have to reflect and do it over again.
A3. We should share more thoughts with nonteahcers to engage them in our thinking and help teachers understand their community and landscape around them. Wondering if educators in a bubble is a problem? #tlap
It's great when it's a physical post, but you can also put it in a shared calendar as well as a physical calendar. Ts just need reminders to check that online calendar. #tlap
A3: I always say that I am my own worst critic, & this vulnerability stems from my openness when sharing my personal critiques w/others. In these moments of sharing, I do not hold back my emotions, as I am typically most emotional when having a reflective conversation. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: took a while for me to get truly vulnerable w my peers bc I was afraid it meant failure. For years now though I've just been honest and open, and I think that's the key. None of us know it all, but we can help each other figure it out. #tlap
A3: 1/2
It is easier or me to share my reflections with my students. I made a promise to be as transparent and vulnerable with them as I can (while not crossing boundaries 😆). I have no problem saying—this lesson or unit or performance piece isn’t working. And either: #tlap
A3: start by surrounding yourself with people you trust and feel comfortable with. Once you see how much they appreciate and can relate to your rawness, sharing openly wont be so scary. Also, when blogging, just PRESS PUBLISH! #tlap
Q2: Reflecting on our work enhances its meaning, but sharing those reflections with others amplifies the effect those reflections have. How are you currently sharing your reflections with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
Once upon a time... restaurants didn’t offer WiFi. Now, everywhere does! Businesses know that we love to be connected. Why should we treat our students any different? Students desire connection. #GoogleInfusedClassroom#EdTechTeam#OneTeamFCS#FCSFoward
A3 I talk about my day a lot with my husband. He is a teacher of adults, so he gets it. He gives me good feedback and grounds me in reality. At school I don't share a lot because my colleagues don't share my mindset a lot of the time. #tlap
A4: I have my Ss blog using Google Sites, so there's a reflection assignment periodically there, & I use @PearDeck & some video reflection using @RecapThat & I share my blog & #EduSnaps either by mention, visually, or a S brings it up because they follow me on Twitter. :) #tlap
A3 I blog about things that are going well but also what isn’t working or what I struggle with. I think viewing teaching as a work in progress and acknowlging imperfections makes teachers and the profession better. #tlap
A3: HAVE A GROWTH MINDSET! Don't just talk the talk, walk the walk. We all preach the importance of having a growth mindset with our students, we need to have one ourselves! #TLAP
Hello! I'm Kim, a PK-6 principal in Wisconsin. Just saw this going and thought I'd join in. :)
Reflection helps us grow & stretch to new heights, remain focused on our goals, guide learning, celebrate the small moments of our day, and can even inspire us. #tlap
I think first and foremost you have to be comfortable with yourself and knowing that mistakes will be a great learning experience. I also surround myself with others that will be honest with me and ones I can be honest with—pushing each other to continue to progress #tlap
Authentic reflection cannot come from inauthentic people. I surround myself with people who I know will make me better. You have no choice but to be vulnerable when you are striving to Be Excellent on Purpose! #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A3: 2/2
Here’s what I’m thinking, or how can we make it better, solve this problem, etc.? I strive to let them see that the ensemble that is so important includes ALL of us. #tlap
Q3) I am honest and know there will be mistakes and lessons that flop. I tell my students each day we learn by making mistakes. I am fine with sharing mine with students and peers. #tlap
A4: I reflect with each team after every cooking lab f2f and talk about successes & failures. Super valuable for both them & I!
Ss also love taking #foodsnaps of their finished products! We store them in a padlet that has a column for each class period. #tlap
A4. I invite all to follow me on #Twitter or #padlet or #flipgrid. I want them to be as comfortable with sharing as I have become with reflection. #tlap
A4: This year my classroom has been full of change and risk taking! We wanted Ss to know that their voice and opinion matters, so they have a Google form they can fill out at anytime with their thoughts and suggestions on our classroom and even my teaching practice. #TLAP
A3: If you have taken the time to build relationships and model transparency with your staff..trust is built and you never have to hide or “tip toe” around info that needs to be shared. #tlap
A4: actually i just realized that i dont probably model reflection very well for my students at all.. (smacking forehead) obviously something i need to change asap. #tlap
Q1: Reflecting on our practice is essential to navigating our profession. Over the years the way that I reflect has changed. How do you currently reflect? Is it working or do you think it could be better? #tlap#EduSnaps
A4: I share weekly in our staff newsletter and with a newsletter to parents. Sometimes I can be very direct but people seem to appreciate that I am transparent #tlap
A4 I reflect on successful integration of edtech happening around the school to highlight my colleagues' work. Especially when I see faculty feeling low confidence or underappreciated. A reflection can be a gift for others! #tlap
Trying to help create a culture within our Ts where #collaboration is fluid. If we are open to sharing these reflections with tips on how to improve them, we will feel less intimidated to try new things! #TLAP
A4: This week's life challenge is creating a academic goal and a goal for stepping out of your comfort zone. Next week is reflecting on are you currently doing what you need to reach these goals #LifeChallenges#TLAP
We have gratitude journals that include a daily goal. I do one as well & sometimes we share. We share about meeting (or not meeting our daily goals) I've failed at meeting my goals and reflected out loud with the kids about why & adjusting goals. #tlap#gratitude#dailygoal
A4: When I decide to change a lesson after reflecting, I am open with the Ss. Tell them the lesson is changing and why. They appreciate the honesty
#tlap
Q4 I try and use reflective language with my students. I will say things like, "I went home last night and thought about how class went." and I talk about my own goals for myself #tlap
A4 I admit my faults and mistakes. I let faculty know when I messed up. I ask for feedback (still working on Ts feeling they can be honest with the feedback) #TLAP
A4: I ask reflection questions on the morning announcements every day: How will you be kind today? Whom have you noticed is playing fair? What's something you did well yesterday? What are you looking forward to learning today? How will you be better tomorrow? #tlap
A4: Our weekly class meetings are an excellent time for reflection and using terms like "we", "us", + "our goals" instead of "you" + "your goals" are important. #tlap
A4: I did a much better job of this when I was in the classroom with my students. I need to find ways to model reflection for teachers outside of data analysis. #tlap
#tlap A4 Teach with #MorePower use your own phrases ( reflections ) and your own pictures and create posters for your room. My Ss LOVE THEM! here are four of them.
A4: walk them through my reflection of what led me to a choice for the classroom, for instance when I put in my gratitude board. I ask them to reflect throughout the year, too. #tlap
A4: We have gratitude journals that include a daily goal. I do one as well & sometimes we share. We share about meeting (or not meeting our daily goals) I've failed at meeting my goals and reflected out loud with the kids about why & adjusting goals. #tlap#gratitude#dailygoal
I find diff pts of the US I've lived in are more receptive to "direct" than others. I prefer direct so I don't have to work so hard to read between lines #tlap
A4: I reflect out loud...in a group, in conversation, and silently. Whether in front of students, new teachers that I mentor, or standing beside colleagues, I teach reflection by sharing that it is empowering not embarrassing. #tlap#EduSnaps
A4: I’ve shown them Google Docs where I have reflected/collaborates with a colleague. I make it my goal to involve them in the reflection practice - asking them how do they think a lesson went, what could make that activity better, etc. That way they know what ?s to ask. #tlap
A3b: My kiddos and I each made school and home goals when we came back from break. I like to let them know how I am doing in reaching my goals. They like to reflect on their own progress as well. #tlap
A4) Try reflecting with them and putting yourself out there! Ask for their feedback on you, themselves, and their classmates while manifesting a fully supportive environment! #tlap
A4: I reflect with the students after assessments.. I say things like, “Okay, after reviewing your all’s assessments,I noticed we are weak in _____ concept. How can we fix that?” (Thank Goodness for #GoogleForms because it makes this task easier!) #tlap
A3: In my last post, I wrote about feeling slightly overwhelmed and breaking down on my 1st day of student teaching. I was afraid to share that but am thankful I did because it provided me with much needed support and reassurance that things will be okay. #tlap
#tlap As educators we all fail and yes that makes vulnerable, but at the same time it enhances our growth. Empathy is they key when dealing with failure, ours or others.
A4: I have a rubric for @Seesaw for book snaps and fluency reading. I model using my own account first to see where I can improve. I also like making mistakes on purpose for them to catch! #tlap
A4 I talk with them about my reflections, my growth, my struggles, my ways to overcome my hurdles and ways to celebrate my successes. I want them to do the same with me. And I will celebrate and be there with them. Every step of the way. I believe in them. #tlap
Q3: Reflection is most powerful when we are honest and transparent, which can be easier when reflection is done in isolation. How do you keep the raw vulnerability of your reflection when sharing with others? #tlap#EduSnaps
A2: The way I share my reflections has definitely changed over the years. Currently, I share via twitter chats, with my PLN, during admin. meetings, via conversations with staff, and would love to blog someday. #tlap
A4: Everyday I meet my Ss in the hallway in the morning we read together. Also I build relationships with my Ss during lunch and at recess (playing basketball and soccer). For the staff I bring a positive attitude daily, listen and support them if needed.#tlap
A4: I LOVE using @Flipgrid to provide my Ss w/ opportunities to reflect throughout the day! Additionally, we have class meetings & discuss how things are going! #tlap
Yep, Crystal! Just have to do it!! And funny enough, it’s always the ones I hesitate to press publish on that resonate the most with others. Go figure #tlap
A4: PST here so no Ss yet but I can imagine talking and sharing with them.Through more of a process and step-by-step if needed. Definitely owning up to mistakes and letting them join in the journey seems legit. #tlap#conversechat
A3: Honesty and transparency with oneself and others is so important. I find this much easier to do when I am reflecting in person with people that I know well. This is harder for me when I am sharing my ideas with a wider and more anonymous audience. #tlap
A4: Talk about it. Talk about it with Ss. Talk about it with other Ts. Talk about it with Admin. Let Ss see/hear you reflecting. Give them voice, as well! #tlap
#tlap A4 part 2 here are some more posters that are in my room. Tabloid printers aren't that expensive. Do whatever it takes to reach your Ss with POSITIVE attributes of life.
#tlap A4: I reflect with students about their writing assignments. I conduct quick conferences with them, telling them what they need to work on to improve their writing.
A4 I do this daily with students about run throughs, assessments, performances. OUR work is important to reflect on for all of us. Plus.... it is a great model for Ss. #tlap
A3: Speaking your truth, the truth & standing for truth is the greatest lesson for ss & staff. Calling out my areas of growth & Pointing out where my "magnetic north" needs to hold steady builds trust & positive #culture#tlap
A4: (2) just had discussion this week w Ss about self-reflection meaning what you can do differently in a situation instead of placing blame on others. Used the example if most Ss failed assessment, I should see what I can do better, not blame the class for it. #tlap
A4b: We also have Counselor Cafe every day; students eat in groups of 4-6 to practice our restaurant manners and just talk. To reflect. To get to know one another better. To connect. To learn. To grow. It's the BEST! #tlap
A4: I think that we need to show the SS that need to reflect as well. By sharing with them that we discover changes that need to be made, they learn from that. #tlap#conversechat@JuliePJones
A5: I frequently do live tweeting (live for me-- #DitchSummit ), or I'm immediately inspired to write a post, I ponder how what I've learned can be applied to what I do then I DO, discuss with interested EDUs, & do a lot of sharing via #BookSnaps#EduSnaps#EDUdailyTweets#tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A4: BE AN OPEN BOOK! They share...I share! We create bucket lists, journal, discuss, video reflect, etc. Whatever I want students to do, I do too! #TLAP
All this talk of reflection is important but I always find it difficult to pause kids at the end of class to reflect- especially when they're working so great with their groups #tlap
A4: I model reflection by not being afraid to share my thoughts. I shared my blog with my professors and my PLN, and I also ask my students for their input in regards to how I am doing as a student teacher. I constantly strive to be the best version of myself. #tlap
A4: I've apologized to kids, teachers and parents plenty of times. No one is perfect. Be who you are and they will appreciate your honesty and passion #tlap
A4 I model reflection using assessments, learning targets, & standards with Ss. Some weeks are better than others, but it's always a work in progress. #tlap
A4: I don’t know that I’ve done a really good job of modeling reflection for my students. I do ask them to reflect when they don’t get the desired outcomes, but that’s more reactive than proactive. I need to do a better job with this. #tlap Did I just reflect?
A4. Reflective days in classroom to problem solve when an exp doesn't always work out. Redo and find out why and what went wrong in the process! Refect w o/ teachers, too. #tlap
Do students use Snapchat on personal phones? Also how do they get them to you? Just wondering, I am having trouble feeling confident with my snap skills, lol. #tlap
A5: My favorite way is to create #BookSnaps or snaps of videos/podcasts to reflect on PD. I add them to a @padlet to keep them in one place so that I can go back and refer to them. I'm also starting to sketchnote. #tlaphttps://t.co/J6gJ00hzEC
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
LOL! Well, after reading the book, I can say that I do waste a lot of time. It won’t be everyday, but I am looking forward to seeing what happens. #tlap
A4: I do my best to model the idea that reflection can happen at any point in the lesson - before and during - not just after. Continuously changing and adapting based on one's reflections is such an important lifeskill!
#tlap
Post-PD reflection can be tricky - info overload! I like to chart and make lists to organize my thoughts and takeaways and then make microblogs on the highlights. Sharing this info with colleagues is a great way to process the new info as well #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A4: Whether in front of students in a class, parents at Open House, new teachers that I mentor, or standing beside colleagues, I teach reflection by sharing that it is empowering not embarrassing. #tlap#edusnaps
A5 I love to interact with others while reading, so I jump at book studies (online and in person.) right now I am doing 2 through my BOCES. I also like to live tweet my takeaways when I am inspired. #tlap
A5 I always read on topics from PD. Reading is cathartic and a personal journey. I have 6-8 books on my table right now. I also love to use Voxer to talk it out, or create book study groups. I turn to my PLN to talk it out. I just need to keep learning, reflecting. #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5: I haven't done this before due to not having a blog, but I am going to start blogging about PD and things that I took away. When I get busy, I tend to forget to press pause. #tlap
A4: I try to demonstrate a #growthmindset for my students by talking with them about what went right and what could’ve gone better. I recently asked Ss for feedback after our last unit and then had a discussion with them on how I’d use their feedback. #tlap
a5: during a pd or chat i like or tweet out things that i liked or heard. after the pd and chat i try to fine 1 or 2 things that i want to try in class and see how they work. #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5 The ride home after an awesome conference is always great! follow up with notes a couple weeks later. Connect with others in the session and the presenter to keep the fire going! Set goals and share with others. #TLaP
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5 I love taking notes and going back over them often times I classify them by topic so I can use them to direct my thinking on a particular topic #TLAP
A4:
Mine see me reflecting on my teaching, my acting, my writing. I provide time for them, but I’m weak at teaching them to go deep. Sometimes “learn my lines” works. But theatre is more AND so is reflecting. I’m hoping to give them space, choice, on SeeSaw. I may need help #tlap
A5: I like taking notes or sketchnoting for something in real time like #DitchSummit or a presentation. @getRocketbook has been a game changer for that! #TLAP
A5: The best way for me to reflect after PD is to talk with others. It's amazing the differences in what we each get out of it! When I'm reading, I'm a highlighter, note taker, graphic maker, quoter. I love saving quotes that touch me to reflect on later. #tlap
I agree! I think the goal for me is to make reflective practices a constant part of the learning cycle. Sometimes an end reflection may be too late. What if we teach kids to step back mid-process and reflect? #tlap
A5: I think that is one of the things that many PD sessions lack. Allowing time for original thoughts, creation, and reflection. Make sure that any PD I give has time for all . #tlap
I use to eat with my kids everyday when I taught Elementary. I dislike the staffroom as a general practice haha. New school is minutes from home. I go home for lunch and it is glorious #tlap
A3: It's easy for me to be vulnerable and raw when the trust is there with the people I am talking to. If you have a culture where you support each other in the growth process and understand that everyone is at a different point, it's easier to be vulnerable. #tlap
A5: Find connections between what I have learned and what I am already doing. Look at how my new knowledge can improve my current practices and strategies. #tlap
A5 I keep my journal or notebook open and jot down notes & sketchnotes while reading/watching/listening. Paper & pencil still my go to for best reflections. #tlap
Reflecting on what happened is good. Thinking about the strategies students use to reach the outcome is better. I think of it as designing their own type of growth mindset and being aware of moments mindset is fixed #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5: love using #BookSnaps for book PD and many times #sketchnotes for conferences, edcamps, and even twitter chats. I have to take a little time after chats to gather my thoughts and plan new ideas or modify things I'm doing #tlap
A5: My reflection usually involves me sending out info to teachers or modeling something new I learned because it's so good or so cool I want to see it in the classroom #tlap
A3. I always admire when I read posts from others who open up and go beyond the surface. I try to keep that voice of no one cares at bay and give more because I appreciate when others do #tlap
A4: It starts with having open communication.Letting them watch me try new things , it helps to see that teachers make mistakes as well , but I will still show up tomorrow 😀 #TLAP
A5. During book studies or chats I jot down notes. I’m a visual learner..gotta see it! I often review them many times. Each time I reflect on something new. #tlap
A4: Whether in front of students in a class, parents at Open House, new teachers that I mentor, or standing beside colleagues, I teach reflection by sharing mine out loud, to show that it is empowering not embarrassing. #tlap#edusnaps
A5: Going back later to check posts that were “liked” later is also so helpful! Pulling those resources together after the fact can help to differentiate the most important tidbits! #TLAP
Q4: We are on this journey together so I feel it is important to share with them things that are going well, struggles that I am running into & how I am growing through the process. #tlap
A5: During PD, I turn and talk with my colleagues to bounce ideas off one another with authentic COMMUNICATION! After the PD, I like to REFLECT through blogging, turning to my virtual #PLN, or researching strategies/techniques 👍🏼❤️ #tlap
A5 I take notes (sometimes with sketches!) that I reflect on after PD. I also try to turnkey the learning with colleagues...which keeps it fresh for me. #tlap
A5: I find the best PD is when I can apply it to my class the next day. I tend to reflect during the PD, always thinking how can this help my SS? How can I apply this?
#tlap
#tlap A5 I created this collage in response to my last professional development. This is how I develop my Tr / Ss relationship to produce an intrinsic learner. #ItWorks
So true. This chat has made me contemplate why I'm more comfortable reflecting on Twitter with strangers than in the cafeteria with colleagues.... #tlap
A5: During PD I reflect on how I use or could use the concept in my class. After PD, I plan using the new ideas and implement them into my classroom. #tlap
A5: I give these out during my learning sessions and ask participants to fill these out for me. I read through them that night, then again the next day, to see what they've connected with, what I could change, do better. https://t.co/LrT0o4uWml#tlap
A5: I reflect... it's my follow through that is lacking. I take notes in onenote - which may or may not be shared with various people. I always come away with great ideas - the problem is I have too many, and none are accomplished. I need to set goals with my action plan. #tlap
A4. I reflect w/ my students during & after a lesson asking reflecting ?’s The kids & I also reflect on the week by having 2 kids write about our week on our newsletter- I also create a @Flipagram each week which is reflection/We watch that week;) #tlaphttps://t.co/RlsHido0zb
A5: blog about the strengths and weaknesses of the PD! Then consider how will it benefit my Ss and what would be the best way to implement the new ideas into action. Reflect on a plan. #tlap
A5 During, I'm sharing on Twitter what I feel is most impactful to me personally, and then normally bring it full circle with some reflection on how I am or not using that wisdom. After, I will search Twitter for that pd, and see what others are sharing. #tlap
A5- I like to talk with colleagues, organize my notes for how I can practically use what I have used. Just started using Google Keep to help me stay organized with what I have learned #tlap
A5: My admin team already has a plan for reflection time after our upcoming PD. We are basically just going to take time to sit and brain dump right away while it’s fresh! Then come up with a plan to implement, if you don’t use it you lose it! #TLap
A5 I grab a log of the chats or parts of chats that I really like and review tham and keep the "nuggets" that are pertinent and archive the others for my "sometime" file. I share these realtime with colleagues as well. Going to miss @Storify#tlap
I observed 10 teachers last semester and want to do 1 a week this semester. I always take little things away from interactions, greet at the door, pedagogy is just 1 piece of the puzzle #tlap
A5 pt 2.. also if im at a pd with other teachers i know. we talk about our take aways and what we liked best. most of the time i attend them with my husband and we bounce ideas back and forth on the way home #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
I suppose I kind of do that with explanation quizzes in which I publically show what positive groupwork strategies groups are using and they can self-assess and recorrect themselves. Excellent point! #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5- I like to talk with colleagues, organize my notes for how I can practically use what I have used. Just started using Google Keep to help me stay organized with what I have learned #tlap
A5: Sketchnoting is great during conferences & keynotes. But really hope I don't have to do any more PD where I'm just sitting for 1 hour or more. Need to collaborate & create. #tlap
A3: I try my hardest to stay transparent with myself and others. It's essential for me to recognize and grow, particularly from the reflections that I don't always want to share. There is power in honestly and accepting feedback. #tlap
A5 Great question. I think rather than reflecting, you gotta pick something new to try right away, while the grill is hot. But then also keep notes easily accessible. Also share what you do with others to feedforward and collaborate. #tlap
#tlap A5: I think what could work in my class and what couldn't work; I also think about how other teachers could use the information. Just like I want my Ss to do with the information they learn, I put what I learned into action.
A5: I have "my person" (@ccormier_edu) who gets just as excited about PD and learning as I do. We call/text/Vox/etc. and many of my ideas are shaped by the inspirational conversations we have. After that, I blog, post, tweet, and share with anyone who will listen! #tlap
A5: After my latest PD opportunity (#ditchsummit), I reviewed my notes and looked at some lessons I could improve on. There were many times I would pause the video, write down a plan, then watch more. Afterwards I had notes of ideas on how to apply what I had learned. #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5: Highlight passages to go back to on my Kindle, share ideas on Twitter/with my coworkers, and a padlet was created to chart ideas/websites among some history teachers :) #tlap
Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5: Did a #LeadLAP@voxer book chat w/ @GuysBride &
@sdtitmas!! Each week we discussed several chapters!! It took our reading to a deeper level because we could share & reflect w/ each other!! ❤️ that crew!! ☠️ #tlap
A4: It is important for students to see their teachers think aloud, make mistakes, reflect, set goals, apologize, take risks, try new things etc. It helps them understand that we are all human. No one is perfect. We can all learn. We can all improve. #tlap
That's awesome! I don't understand why more Ts aren't willing to do this. Hopefully it's not b/c they think they don't need to learn any more - but sadly.... #tlap
A5 I need to discuss with someone what I’ve learned at a PD session or what I’ve read. This is easy since I’ve been so motivated by my most recent reads Lead like a Pirate #LeadLAP and #Culturize . Next up #KidsDeserveIt#tlap
Ha! Yep. If you are doing it yourself and they follow you on @SnapChat , Ss can be irritated. :) If you use it in class, don't overdo it. I've had HS Ss say, "All you do is snap stuff you're reading or doing in class." Yes. It won't offend me if you don't check my story. :) #tlap
A5: Did a #LeadLAP@voxer book chat w/ @GuysBride &
@sdtitmas!! Each week we discussed several chapters!! It took our reading to a deeper level because we could share & reflect w/ each other!! ❤️ that crew!! ☠️ #tlap
A5. Excellent question. I often feel overwhelmed with thinking about school. Find myself processing during a run or fluidly as I'm lesson prepping #tlap
A5: SketchNotes now that I'm better, shared google docs, notes app on my phone, tangible notes, STICKY NOTES on my Mac, reading notes aloud, and definitely relating the PD to myself and how I'll actually make use of it. #tlap#conversechat
A6: My reflections are the compass used to navigate through ideas which become activities/lesson components or actions that affect relationships w/Ss & Ts. Reflection w/o change is like finding a man staked out in the hot sun but not untying him. #tlap
Q6: The true treasure in reflection lies in how we use what we've learned to move forward in our work. How do you plan to take action on your reflections? #tlap#EduSnaps
#tlap Charles. Digital Coach. Nebo district. Finally checking in. A5 Google Keep is a great way to keep notes and have them searchable later or to share with others, or even add to Google Docs and such.
#tlap A5 My friend and presentation partner and I always provide reflection slips at the conclusion of our presentation. Then we read and adjust accordingly for the next time.
#tlap I have to tip out. It was nice chatting with you all tonight. For those of you that’s still out of school for whatever reason, enjoy your time off! For the rest, teach with passion and reflect from the ❤️ 💜 heart.
A5: If there is something to #Snap I love the creative visual reflection and since writing freaks me out a snap keeps it short and sweet. May have to start a #bookSnap blog and just add them there. #TLAP
A4: For my staff, I create time for reflection at staff meetings. I also add quotes and tidbits to daily announcements to inspire reflection. For students, I like meeting with them one-on-one.
#tlap
A5. During a PD session , I keep a log of notes I might take for reflection. Gathering in groups afterwards to talk about the subject matter or do activities applied to the subject. Take more notes and leave. Reflect. #tlap
A6: Great Q! I keep a notebook of ideas and thoughts based off of my reflections to refer to as I plan my lessons so I can continue to improve my practice. #tlap
A5: Making notes for myself is key to helping me put it all together. What are the key takeaways and how does it fit together? How can I use this, can it replace, can it accentuate what I am doing? #tlap
A5: During a PD I reflect by creating a outline of an Action Plan on areas I can improve on or adjust to improve to better help my Ss. After the PD I always meet with my team to discuss what can we improve on as a whole to impact all Ss.#tlap
A5: I always reflect driving home from PD on my own & think what is the best thing I learned that I can share with everyone. I've learned that if I share too much of what I learned at once, I completely overwhelm them. #tlap It's hard to hold back when you've been to great PD!
A6: Aside from "simple" applications of my reflection, I also keep a note open on my iPhone for things I want to apply and add calendar reminders of things that I want to implement! #tlap
A5: During PD I am an active note taker . After PD , I go to the classroom and make an action plan . Putting it in action while it’s fresh on my mind #tlap
A4: My Ss always see me reflecting throughout the day. If my lesson is a flop, I tell my students. If feel like it something they aren't enjoying, I ask how they're feeling about it. I also encourage them to share how they're feeling and really think about why. #tlap
A5: Twitter Tuesdays and Thursdays! Whatever is presented out at our Wednesday PD sessions is then tweeted out by admin and teachers the next week when implemented in classrooms using the school’s #! #tlap
A5:Noting my areas of distraction. by examining practice reflectively and reflexively. I also create a series of ?s during presentation - prompts me to rethink, reflect on learning. #tlap
A6: Baby steps! Sometimes something new is intimidating, but using the concept of #onenewthing, we won’t feel as overwhelmed to completely revamp overnight. Plus, jumping in and figuring it out together with students allows us to model reflection for our Ss! #TLAP
A5:
In PD and conference keynotes I mark A-ha moments with a 💡. Then I go back/Home/hotel room and immediately make a plan, tweet, share. Always make a plan!! Or I forget. #tlap
Just break it out every now and then. I have lots of stuff I use instead. Lots of tools that I teach them, and then I usually let them pick the tool for the activity. #tlap

Q5: As connected educators we have many opportunities for PD from books to chats to #DitchSummit. How do you reflect during and after PD? #tlap#EduSnaps
Q5) After PD, I evaluate what will work with my students. I am open to new ideas but always let the students lead the way in what may work with them. #tlap
A6. I think all my important reflection needs to be run by my planning partner or team. I feel like all my best ideas die in isolation and thrive with the help of others. #tlap
A5: When I read a professional book, I bend over the corner of the pages that really speak to me. Then, when I am finished reading I go back through the book and make notes on these parts. I keep my digital notes in a folder on my Drive to refer to. #tlap
A6: I use my reflections to guide my next steps. Sometimes in planbook, sometimes in my calendar, sometimes in a #sketchnote, but they're always there as guides. #tlap
A6 I write things down. I am the king of post it notes lol I also talk to my PLN and friends about my reflections and goals. This keeps me accountable and pushes me. Just like getting a push from @Flipgrid head of engagement to submit my ambassador application. Be amazing! #tlap
Q6: The true treasure in reflection lies in how we use what we've learned to move forward in our work. How do you plan to take action on your reflections? #tlap#EduSnaps
A6: In the classroom my reflections were a driving force of instruction. I would modify lessons or strategies based on feedback from my students on almost a daily basis. As an instructional coach my reflections affect my daily schedule, who I work with and in what capacity. #tlap
A5: I always reflect driving home from PD on my own & think what is the best thing I learned that I can share with everyone. I've learned that if I share too much of what I learned at once, I completely overwhelm them. #tlap It's hard to hold back when you've been to great PD!
A5: I like taking notes. I live by my @getRocketbook! I can take any important notes down and get them immediately to google drive. It took me awhile, but I also to my own dismay, highlight and take notes in all my PD books. #tlap
A6: making sure that i use my reflections to change my teaching practices. learning to let go and fail is hard but im working on it. also i am making sure that i am reading to help myself grow and re-reflecting on what i have changed or reviewing notes #tlap
Q6: The true treasure in reflection lies in how we use what we've learned to move forward in our work. How do you plan to take action on your reflections? #tlap#EduSnaps
A5: During PD, I take notes & tweet information. After PD, I reflect on my way home, go back through my notes & highlight information that I want to put into action or share with others, and then talk to others about what I learned. I LOVE to share new things I've learned. #tlap
A5:
In PD and conference keynotes I mark A-ha moments with a 💡. Then I go back/Home/hotel room and immediately make a plan, tweet, share. Always make a plan!! Or I forget. #tlap
Google Keep has been my most amazing find this year. Not only for checklists, but using it for research is amazing. Text from photo - yes please! #tlap
A6: JUST DIVE IN! Why wait? Reflecting is ineffective if you aren't willing to change. Reflect, adapt, and implement change (then, reflect again)! #TLAP
A6: If you're not scared of "failure", it's a lot easier to put ideas/reflections into action. For me, it all comes back to my WHY - kids deserve teachers who are not just thinkers, but DOers. #tlap
