Creativity: the ability to see beyond the constraints of conformity and bring diagonal thinking into the solution. Innovate via remixing, redefining, and/or re-visioning. #IDedchat
Creativity is something new, never tried before. Innovation is taking something and making it better. They are different, but they are the same...sort of. #IDedchat
R2: I believe that creativity can and should be used by Ss and Ts to help spur differentiation in learning and understanding/mastery of content. #IDedchat
Q2 Teachers can leverage creativity as they plan multiple entry pts into a topic, providing a diversity of perspectives & modalities, as they consider assessment options, as they intentionally integrate student choice. #idedchat
A2: Our lessons must be carefully thought out and planned to keep our students engaged. If we foster an environment of creativity, it will keep it alive in our classrooms and our students will be able to speak and do freely and expressively. #IDedchat
I can give guidelines and expectations for showing knowledge of cells and organelles. One student may bake a cake with organelles labeled; one student may create a slide show or a movie on @WeVideo. The outcome is the same, but very different in the product. #IDedchat
A1. My definition of creativity is...everything! Even a worksheet was created. Prior to that maybe they used chalk and a board. Anything can and often times should be more creative. #IDedchat
I am great at brainstorming. There are no limits with me. The more crazy it gets, the bigger connections I make. Think of a student proving mastery of anything. If they have no limits, they usually will understand it better to prove how much they know. #IDedchat
A3: Read and learn broadly. Cross-pollinate. Be a sponge. Enter every conversation knowing I have something to learn. Seek to be as transdisciplinary as possible. #IDEdChat
A3: Another big thing I am working on this year, although @elalitcoach may not see much evidence in my reflective notebook...YET..is REFLECTION. :-) #IDedchat
R3: so, there is this really cool tool called @Twitter that has some really cool chats and blogs and podcasts that give me ideas. Then I also have Ss that give me ideas and my #PLN and #PLCs that give me ideas. And then I have reached out to the community now. #IDedchat
The creative component is so crucial ot teaching and learning so as to involve identity. Creating makes it personal and gives ownership at a very intimate level. #IDedchat

A3: I keep my mind busy and working, whether it’s with art, music, movement, or cooking. If we spend time to create (anything!) we will be creative in all of our pursuits! Remembering that everyone is creative is important, it doesn’t have to be something grandiose. #IDedchat
For me, creative energy comes from unexpected directions. Time outside of the crucible, really. While running, showering, driving, gives me some of that percolating time . . . then I'm ready to dig in and find flow! #IDedchat
R3: So there is active looking and passive looking for creativity. Sometimes just reading and sitting here looking at tweets creates new ideas. Sometimes I go and watch others, talk to them, explore and prod. #IDedchat
That understanding is KEY! Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes. Stretching my comfort zones also fosters more creativity in daily activities. #IDedchat
You are so engaged and invested in all things education. I am constantly in awe of your thoughtful responses and your crazy response time. You are a FAST thinker! (I'm still contemplating the first word and you have an entire response typed out!) #IDedchat
A3. I used to give that part to an aide. But then I realized that I was short changing myself. I change the look of my room every year, which naturally changes how I lead and guide my classroom. Creativity builds creativity! #IDedchat

R3: speaking of podcasts, one of my favs is from @CADPODCAST1. @letscreatemoore and @williamastein drop a podcast every other week. They are around 1/2 hr and always have ideas about great educational topics. Highly recommend. #IDedchat
A4: That creativity comes in all forms. Like @LCHS_Bio said. It can be expressed in the form of a cake, or a flipgrid if needed. Or something done on Canvas. #idedchat
@averyteach I need to run. I have a book to digest, #StoriesInEDU. Very inspirational. Check out the cover when you get a chance. Thanks again for the tag tonight. I will catch up later, or in a more creative way. #IDedchat
A4: I want students to understand that creativity looks different for everyone - that it can be messy - but that it can lead to great questions and even greater solutions. #IDedchat
A4: First and foremost, I want my students to know that each and everyone of them is creative. I want them to know that they can rely on and celebrate their own unique minds. Creativity is not limited to the arts, they can be creative in math too! #IDedchat
A4: Students should know that each one them are uniquely creative. That we ALL can tap into our own creativity, through exploration and practice. #idedchat
Q4 Creativity doesn't happen in isolation. It happens when we're exposed to a broad range of ideas & concepts & perspectives & modalities. We can't be creative in a vacuum. Part 1 #IDEdChat
Q4 I also want all learners to know that we CAN be introverts & be creative. The diversity of views & perspectives, the cross pollination & transdisciplinary learning -- this can come from books & video & twitter & other non-traditional forms of interaction. #IDEdChat
Students need to feel the mess of creativity, and get comfortable with that. This makes me wonder if creativity leads to understanding the gray areas of life, where its controversial, not black or white. #idedchat

A1 creativity can be found in ever student, if you have them tell you a story p, they can write a story! The new school year is about to begin. It’s time for possibility and wonder and excitement and discovery. https://t.co/WnvSXhbRUA#Back2School#IDedchat
Messiness - where deep learning occurs! I think that the struggle (productive) that can come with that mess would help clear the fog of the "gray" areas. I wonder if civil discourse would be more prominent if we could live in the gray. #IDedchat
Yes, maybe it goes back and forth, like a pool or pools one dips into. Sometimes alone, other times, with others, often in learning from seeing. #IDedchat
Sometimes creativity has hiccups, roadblocks, detours, and dead ends. That’s ok. We also need to demonstrate how these are ok for our students. It should be modeled. Time needs to be given for this also. #IDedchat
A5: Many times when you are creative, you are critically thinking. There is that deep level connection that is being made to enhance your learning/understanding. #idedchat

A5: Critical Thinking - when we ask students to be problem solvers...or find new problems to solve...or to look at a situation through different lenses - Creative solutions can result. #IDedchat
A5: When we think critically, we cannot only rely on hard facts. We must bring in our thoughts and experiences to relate to the questions and our thinking. We have to be creative in order to find answers and solutions. #IDedchat
You are beyond creative, Amy! Your potential maxes out right about the same time that Venus dims and no longer lights the night sky. I'm the lucky one who simply gets to learn from interacting with you. #IDedchat
Again, critical thinking is a skill that some of it students lack because they have been told exactly what to do every second of their schooling in the past. We need to help educate students on these skills by modeling. #IDedchat
A6: I continually switch things up from one year to the next as I am always dreaming up of new activities. Currently trying to put one on paper this evening in fact! #idedchat
Again, critical thinking is a skill that some of it students lack because they have been told exactly what to do every second of their schooling in the past. We need to help educate students on these skills by modeling. #IDedchat
Q6 I can accept critical thinking as we use a lens of improving together. We are looking at this piece, as kind of this "other" outside from ourselves, and together we find spots to polish or change. #idedchat
A6: I think it is difficult to know when you’re modeling it. We have to be creative and encourage creativity in order for that to come through in the classroom. I think the more that it is celebrated, the more it will just happen. #IDedchat
This is probably the anti statement to modeling; however, there is a culture of googling/YouTubing that allows Ss to find an answer that has been used before. Sometimes we have to let Ss use the other 3Cs to help drive their creativity that doesn’t revolve around tech. #IDedchat
Exactly! And yet. Empowered creativity means that we are gathering AND harnessing vast insights, perspectives, approaches, experiences in order to make forward movement -- and ultimately to innovate! #IDedchat
