A3: Last year a S that I had tried to connect with for nearly two years finally opened up to me one morning. Her story would break a heart of stone & she had held it in, fighting by herself, for so long. We cried together for the better part of 30 minutes. #LeadLAP
A2: I was in awe of my teachers! They are receiving awards for their work w/ Ss, driving 10 hours to the @ronclarkacademy to learn & bring that energy back to our school,& leading PD in our school! I am surrounded by these leaders who know we are better together for Ss! #LeadLAP

A3. Our band students made a video as part of Design Thinking (Thanks @drchagala ) that they presented to get new band lockers. Helped me to be empathetic as it was authentic and relevant. We used their video and submitted it to our district. #LeadLAP
This year I had to watch as a 6 yr old was picked up by a stranger because he was being taken away from his parents. They had to take him to a group home. I have never appreciated my own family so much. #toughdays#LeadLAP

Indeed the social emotional learning aspect is essential. I work with new teachers often, and they understand that "teaching" as a much the social emotional learning element as it is about knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy. SEL is essential for each teacher's toolbox. #LeadLAP

A6: I truly remind myself daily how lucky I am to lead in my district. I work with awesome students, dedicated teachers, and supportive families EVERY SINGLE DAY. My admin team is so supportive that I never feel alone. Every day I feel like I hit the jackpot! #LeadLAP

A3:A challenge that taught me empathy...reading always came very easy for me.When I went through Reading Recovery training in 2005,I realized that I was lucky things just clicked. Not the case for many of our Ss.Teaching struggling readers blessed me with empathy. #LeadLAP

We live in a time of increasing adaptive challenges and we are facing more and more unknowns, often in more chaotic environments. If we can learn to see the opportunities that arise from that and learn to embrace it instead of recoil, we can build a greater future. #leadlap
